10,000 Steps a Day

10,000 Steps a Day
I've heard mixed things about the minimum for steps we should take each day. A lot of people say that you should take 10,000 steps a day but I've also read articles saying there is no evidence to support this.

How many steps a day do you walk on average? Do you strive for 10,000 steps a day?

I have a fitbit flex and I always strive to get my steps in each day. I try to reach the 10,000 every day but I average around 15,000 but I have had days where I was over 30,000. Sometimes days I go for a long walk a couple of times ago. I think it is good for you to try and walk and move as much as you can. it is good for your heart and your health. My fitbit keeps me motivated to walk more because I am always trying to see how quickly I can reach the 10,000. Some days I am at the 10,000 before noon and other days it takes all day to get there.

I was given the same gadget by my sister so I could keep track of my physical activity. Unfortunately I am not using it every day and I feel like being pressured so I just leave it at home. I know that the purpose is defeated but I am deeply engrossed with my daytime job in the office that I don’t need any interruption in my routine activities. When I am wearing that monitor, I lose my concentration at work.

I honestly don't track my steps or use a pedometer so it's impossible for me to know an actual number but I do believe that I make far more than 10,000 steps per day. I am a very active person in general and I love to work out and do sports. I even walk to my workplace every single day. I could drive or take the bus but I prefer walking. It gives you a nice workout plus you can breathe some fresh air and focus better once you arrive at work. I also do daily walks that end up very long.

I might try to track my steps one day because I am a bit curious as to how many I make per day. I think it would be interesting to see and maybe compare it with other people.

Not really sure what 10,000 steps would amount to in miles/kilometers, but I walk at least 2 kilometers a day from my town to the next. Now as for what is healthiest, I have no idea since I don't walk for the purpose of staying healthy I just enjoy walking around and I'm not easily fatigued by it. 10,000 steps a day probably sounds a lot more than it actually is so maybe I'll count my steps and get back to this. I never really felt that walking had much of an effect on my health in a positive or negative way, to be honest.

Yesterday I was able to accomplish over 8,000 steps on my hike. I want to make sure I get at least 5,000 steps a day, but 10,000 or more would be ideal! The more the better and keeping hydrated!

Even when I am sort of active I never get close to 10,000 steps per day. I guess I should make it more of a priority, but then again there are lots of things I should do. That is just one of them. It is hard to exercise like that when it is so hot out!

Does anyone count how many steps he is taking every day? I don't think so. When I go on a walk, I consider time as the determining factor. For example, I say today I walked for 10 minutes. Another determining factor is distance. I say I walked 5 kilometers today. I never watch my steps.

On average, I walk over 12000 steps a day. I'm moving around a lot at work, so that's where 90% of my steps come from. On my days off, I'm lucky to hit 2000 steps if that. I do think being up and moving around is better for my body. Sitting around doing nothing all day is unhealthy.

I honestly never counted the number of steps I take. Usually when I walk, I calculate the distance traveled or the time spent during the walk. One of these days I will calculate my steps to evaluate if I am close to 10,000 a day. Does anyone know if this number has any scientific basis, or is it just a rumor?

I usually don't count that. I have taken more steps too. But it does not much add up. I can tell you that some of the times counting is not the right way to go about it. I have found that 10k steps a day can be good for burning the calorie. Not sure how everyone is going to be about it. But considering it takes time to burn those, I am guessing it may not be that easy either. You just have to work around with that.

I used the 10,000 steps a day regimen to lose 30 pounds in two months time. That is just a target figure to make sure that you're getting enough physical activity each day. I would deliberately count the steps to make sure I'm meeting the daily target. This is something I can do outside or inside the house. A more convenient way to do it is by counting the steps the first time around and knowing where to walk to complete the steps required. On the next round, you can just walk through the same path without counting. I'd complete the steps in an hour and that means a lot of brisk walking which is also good for the heart. To enhance the benefit of this exercise, I'd usually swing my arms.

Hi, I never heard of walking 10 000 steps each day, but there are a lot of opinions about the walking that helps our body health. I honestly don't know how many steps I am making each day, but I know that I am walking a lot, it may be 4 kilometers each day, I don't know if this is much or less than it should be, but this is the road I must take!

My smart phone which is Samsung Galaxy Note 4 have their free apps callled S-Health which has features to measure and record the user's heart and pulse rate, and steps that made each day. On an average day at work I tend to made at least 5000 to 7000 steps a day. Whenever I went to the market which is every Sunday afternoon or Monday in the afternoon, the record shows that I made 8000 to 10000 steps on that day. I can quite remember also one time that I ran with my phone on my stocked to my armband, I made almost 30000 steps running for more or less 10,000 kilometers.

I hardly keep track of the steps I take daily but because I'm a very active person i think I move more than a 5000 steps everyday.Recently saw an app that pays one for walking a lot they want to encourage movement by people for good health which I believe it will help people move a lot.

I think I've read that if you continuous walk for 60 minutes, you'll lose only 300 calories which is not much but if you do it for more than an hour and you also do this every day, you'll slowly see the difference on your body. I don't think that I manage to make 10,000 steps every day since I mostly do online jobs which I always in a sitting position. I know that I don't have a healthy lifestyle but someday, I will.

That 10,000 steps a day is a pretty long walk or run. Let’s do the math on that. One kilometer is 1,000 meters and 1 meter is equivalent to 2 steps. So if you walk a kilometer then you had practically taken 2,000 steps which clearly means you have to walk or run 5 kilometers in order to accomplish that 10,000 steps. And you can you do that every day? I used to do some jogging for a kilometer or two but I couldn’t do 5 kilometers in a day so maybe that 10,000 steps is just a saying but not really for health purposes.

I just wonder, how did you count your steps? Do you have any application or gadgets to use for steps counting? I pretty much sure 10,000 steps is not really easy to count, I will lost my counting during the 50 if I will do that. 10,000 steps will surely give you healthy body and great cardio, what more if you run. Maybe those body builders and gym fanatic need this, because they are just developing their upper body and forget the lower part.

10,000 steps is not an easy task, it can really make you feel healthy if you do this every day.

I bet I common walk around 6-7 thousand steps. once I take relaxation days, I would get 5,000 or more. After I exercise session two times a day it's greater like 15,000 or more. Nowadays, I went for a long run and right now I've simply shy of 16,000 steps.

Maybe 10,000 steps are possible for those who walk or jog for exercise every day and get to work by just walking. The majority of people today wants to get to their destination as fast as possible by riding a vehicle. I, myself, ride a motorcycle every day to get to the office or wherever I need to go to. I'm sure I don't walk 10,000 steps every day. Maybe when I jog in the morning I somehow get close to 10,000. I'm not just really sure because I haven't counted my steps yet for a single day.
