A getaway in the city

A getaway in the city
Traveling is one way to unwind. For us, a short vacation removes all the stress inside us. The feeling is not just rejuvenation but something like cleansing of the mind especially when the place we went is pretty nice like Singapore of Hongkong. But if we don’t want to go far, maybe because of the budgetary constraints, we take a getaway right in the city. We book an overnight stay in a hotel with complimentary breakfast. Checking in after lunch time, we stay in the room or maybe swim in the pool. And then there’s the buffet dinner but we usually dine in a la carte because we prefer the buffet breakfast on the next morning. Check out time is before lunch time. That’s almost 24 hours or relaxation especially because the hotel room has a tub and complete amenities from tv to fridge. It’s really going on a vacation. And the cost is worth it.

We only get to have a short vacation when everyone's has the same free time schedule. Public holidays such as Chinese New Year, Christmas Day where everyone is off for a couple of days from work, school and college. The longest vacation is a 6 hours drive from our house to another state, we booked a hotel online with discount voucher, save half the price, eat out at cheap stalls and used the swimming pool, gym, air cond and the TV program which are really lousy because all are local programmed. Next time, we will bring flash drive, download with movies!

Wow, that is indeed one way of having a very short yet very refreshing and rejuvenating vacation. Here in our province, we have lots of resorts where there are also spas where you can have massage within the resort. Sometimes we go overnight on some affordable resorts, where we stay in their very comfortable rooms too. Hubby and I would usually do this for our anniversary. We would either swim in their pool or take a swim on their beach. It's really one way of enjoying time alone for ourselves only specially that it's our anniversary. It's worth it to spend some money for the occasion and for relaxation. :)

I love quick getaways with a stay in a hotel. There is something about staying in a hotel that is very relaxing. Especially if they offer free continental breakfast. We used to only stay with friends or family when we traveled, but then we started being able to stay in hotels and it is so nice. I always sleep good. I enjoy all the channels on the TV. I enjoy a break from cooking and cleaning my own home.

You are right the cost is always worth it, because a vacation it helps us to relax, and forget about our daily routine. For me it doesn't matter how long it lasts a vacation, it may be for two days it still counts and makes me recharge the batteries and feel a new man again. I and my family are traveling almost every week, we just find a destination and leave the city for the weekend.

I love to travel and visit places far from the city to unwind meanwhile. After working hard we should give a reward to ourselves by traveling to some places away from stress and busy schedule. I do it once a month or twice in three months to enjoy life without thinking my job quite some time.

Well that is definitely one way to do a mini-getaway without spending too much money. When I used to live in New York City, I would do something different though. My idea of a getaway was simply going somewhere closer to nature where I can just relax and enjoy the sounds of Earth without being disturbed by all the honking cars and police sirens. Ideally I loved to spend an entire day just exploring Central Park and listening to the rustling leaves on the trees or the birds singing. Or even just going to the beach and lounging around, listening to the ocean waves and seagulls. You have all sorts of mini-vacations right at your doorstep.

I am not really a big fan of short holidays or one-day gateways. The reason is because to even get anywhere nice it takes us hours of driving and before that, packing, organizing things and so on. It adds more stress than fun if I am honest.

We once went for two days and when we got there we were completely exhausted. To make it even worse, the hotel was pretty terrible so we had a bad experience. I don't know why but I prefer booking proper holidays in advance when we can go for two weeks or more. That is true relaxation for me.

I always love travelling. It's one of my passion. But i rarely take short trips for vacation. I like going to different places that takes about 3 or 4 days. Though there are times that we go to places like beach that are near the city. About 3-5hours drive and we stay overnight. But it is not that relaxing whenever i go to those places cause i feel that it's not enough. I'm also not fond of going in hotel for overnight stay, cause i feel it is better to stay at home and rest. Whenever i want to relaxed when i don't have work, we just stay at home and take a swim for an hour or two and call for delivery if we want to eat. Most of the day were spent watching movies and sleeping. That's our way of having a really short vacation. :)

I like this idea, and I have done this before myself. It's fun just to go to a place you have never been, even if it is just a little ways down the road, and stay in a hotel, order room service, and watch bad cable with someone you love. My girlfriend and I have done this frequently, and we always get plenty of relaxation away from our mutual all-too-familiar surroundings and the daily rigamarole of our work and home lives. You can find great deals on hotel rooms, and you can't beat a free breakfast, if you ask me, and a lot of the even cheaper hotel chains have a good spread in terms of breakfast in the morning.

A short getaway and a chance to unwind is one of the ways you can get the R and R you need. Many people look forward to their vacation time all year long. However, a vacation doesn't need to be a long extended thing. It can simply be a short routine to get you out of the house and ready to do the kind of fun things you need to do. This is the way of vacations the appeal and why you like them.

Since my family lives away from home town, our vacation is actually going back home. So I guess if you leave one place generally you get away from the stress inducing things from that place though there is usually stress where ever you go maybe just less of it. I think the best way to deal with stress is to confront what ever is stressing you out. If that isn't possible then sleep on it or get drunk jk. Stress isn't something so easily shaken off by something like getting away because it will always weigh on your mind, but I guess physically getting away from the object of your stress is a start.

Yes, I agrees with you. Going back in home really is really helpful to relief stress. When we see our family, and love once makes us more comfortable, and more happy. I really do appreciated these small things in our lives. Because it's part of our relief some stress, and to enjoy was the main goal of our lives. Having a drink of beer with my relatives is also a gateway of happiness. It's really amazing that, when simple things is the answer of every stress we have today.

I love my family, and they are everything to me. I love to see them happy, if ever we had a chance to go in abroad. It's really a great joy, for everybody to experienced it. As of now, simple things is necessary, like communication with them.

It is always nice to get away from the stresses of life no matter where you go. It doesn't have to be far away as long you you are able to go away and leave the stress and responsibility of life behind you for that time. I think that it is great that you do that. It also gives you some quality time together away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Traveling is one of my favorite hobbies and I just can't do it more often because I don't have time and much less money, haha! But whenever is possible I decide to travel, even if it's a little getaway during a holiday or weekend. Travel revives the soul and gives more meaning to life.

My dream is to travel the world and visit as many countries as possible. I will love to explore the different cultures and also try different foods. Unfortunately, that's not possible as I don't really have that much money. Maybe in the future my dream may come true. As for now whenever I feel that I need to relax a bit I either go to the beach or in nature. I enjoy being in those places.

The only thing I can do it is a meditation. I feel more relax when I do a lot of meditations, and it is really worth doing it. Though having vacation is also good for mental fitness of a person, it also boost happiness of a person, and appreciation of life. I don't usually take vacation, because I have a financial problem, and it's really a burden for me. When ever I can't access relief from stress I usually think an alternative way.

My last vacation to other place when I was in 3rd year college, and it's part also to our curriculum to have field trip. I love to have vacation in Hong Kong. I want to try all those things at least once a year in life. But sad to say I can't afford, and I will have vacation here in our local area.

Short vacations are great especially if you have budget constraints. They are extremely cheap which means most people are able to afford it. And because of that, you are able to go quite frequently on different short vacations. I think the best thing about short vacations is that you don't tend to go too far which is great for people who have to work a lot and can't take too many breaks because you can go for the weekend and be back by Monday.

These short getaways are great. Up until recently I've never really considered a nice weekend getaway. It just so happened that I shared a birthday weekend with a friend. We were trying to decide what to do to celebrate such a rare and memorable occasion. We opted for a weekday at a resort. It was just great, relaxation, lots of food, a bit of hiking and just chilling out in a hammock enjoying the birds and the sea breeze with the trees serenading as the winds caress their leaves and trunks rocking away! It was just the thing we needed to getaway from the daily ramblings and ups and downs. I would recommend it to everyone seeking some relaxation time. That one day felt like a stretch of days on vacation and the experience last much longer than the day. It was as if the experience added itself to one of the happy thoughts that I could think of to alleviate myself even on the most hectic days now.

When I was in teens I did not have much money to go on a vacation or go to a resort in city outskirts. My friends were just like me, they did not have much money either. We used to book a hotel room (a dormitary room because we were half a dozen guys), have dinner in the hotel, relax in the pool, and party in the hotel club. Booking a hotel room and having fun in the hotel was just like going to a resort or going for a vacation.

That sounds pretty great, It's almost like a 24 hour escape from reality and dutys. Sounds like a good bonding time for you and your partner of life. When I want to relax I really like going to the beach for a weekend but this could be a choice too if you don't have that much time or that much money to spend on a long vacation... The jacuzzi sound wonderful and the fact that you don't have to make your own breakfast sounds even better!

I've discussed this in the past before with my friends. To be honest, not everyone favors a short getaway. Especially when it's still within the city bounds itself. Personally, I'm not like this. In my opinion, short getaways can sometimes be the best vacations. I like the idea of getting a hotel in my city. Gives me a different perspective as an individual. What I also like about short getaways is that hotels reward you for loyalty over time. So it can be a very, very economical, relaxing getaway if you do it right. I think ideally, I love travelling domestic and international for my holidays, though this is never a bad choice depending on your situation.

I like this idea for a budget vacation and relaxation. You can book in a hotel by yourself and enjoy it. You don't have to travel to other places just to relax. You can give yourself a relaxing time even its just for one day and one night. You can also do this with your wife/husband or with your whole family. You can save time and money by doing this, especially in summer.

I do not live far from the beach and whenever we want to relax a bit for some days this is the place that we usually go to unwind ourselves. Listening to the sounds of the waves and the chirping of the birds can be so relaxing. I enjoy swimming and doing water sports. It is so much fun and exciting. Feeling the soft sand under my feet while walking on the beach makes me feel so good. The best thing above all is to watch the sunset . This a perfect way to end my day.

I love travelling but sometimes it depend in your budget. Everyone deserve a break after a stressful days. Mostly I just travel where the beaches is and I also like hiking. I'm more of nature lover. I always travel when I have time and budget. Lol. Its always feel good to travel and have new ambiance to relax.

This is a good option for some people but not for me. Whenever I want to have a couple of days off all I want to do is go to the beach and be away from the big city and the bunch of crazy people. That's always my first option when I plan holidays and it helps me a lot to relax and to come back with good energy to work again. Cities are too overwhelming.

Yes, I can see that, that would be a great way to experience a luxury vacation in minature without the luxury vacation expense. A lot of getting away on these resort vacations is about the hotel you are staying in, so if you find one say with a pool and a gym as well as a jacuzzi bath in your room, the only thing missing would be the exotic view from the window. And since not all these resort hotels are built so every room gets a view, whose to say you would be seeing anything different anyway. You might just get the room that looks out onto another building.
I live close enough to a really large city that I can travel there without a vehicle and set myself up in the nicest of hotels for a day and night and head back the next day without incurring a lot of cost travelling. Next time I want to feel rich and spoiled, I think I will check into to doing just that. Thanks for the idea.

I prefer doing this as well. I don't really like going to far places all that much unless those places offer something more than usual, like a cooler climate. If I were to go somewhere that just has different food, I think I'd be able to pass on it because I'm just not that curious, so if it's just to relax, I don't mind just going to a hotel and spending my money and time that way. I have done it a couple of times in the past, but I don't really do it enough. I hope I could do it more now but I'm just saving my money for now.

I've tried that. It is fun! I've done something similar. I once had a job where I traveled on “official business” which means the organization I worked for paid for my travel expenses. The first I noticed was no matter what hotel I stayed in, there were always 2 beds for the same price as if I had one bed. I thought to myself: 'Hey! Might as well bring the family along.' It was great! :)
