Afterlife is a difficult term to explain, since you might also include reincarnation since it would happen after your death. But in this case afterlife is just.. that, not really a life but a different form of existence after death, be it heaven or hell like in christianity or whatever you want to believe or hope. Many religions and cultures have different beliefs about what happen after death and how the afterlife look: it might be a scary place like the ancient Greeks believed, or a place like the heroes like the Nordic mythology. There are so many that if you want to believe one of those you have your own choice, or you might choose to believe a new afterlife by your own. Some people belive that the afterlife is like a dream that you can control, and do anything you want, for eternity and without limit. With the afterlife you will still exist, but you won't be in this world anymore.

  • You keep existing after death
  • You can "live" again with your long lost loved ones
  • Truth or not, as long as you live you can imagine it in any way you want

  • Eternity might be pretty long
  • Whatever is it, it's a mistery... and if it's bad, there's nothing you can do
  • Probably you would have to share it with othe people you didn't ike

another world

The thing that is very appealing about an "afterlife" is that you would get to go to another world/realm. You would still live, but in another type of dimension or experience. I love being on Earth, however, there are a lot of things about living here that are very hard, sad, and depressing. I love the idea of an afterlife in a place that is free from pain and suffering. Reincarnation honestly sounds pretty exhausting and depressing. I really wouldn't want to live over and over and over again in this difficult world.

I love being here too, and life is so short and hard and beautiful. It is a crazy fantastic world. I wonder, also, with my imagination, what other worlds could possibly be like or if this is the only one there is? Pain and suffering puts our joys and happiness into context. Being human is quite an adventure, and it is a unique one, and we need to appreciate every minute of it, I say.

Neither but this if I had to choose

I personally don't believe in either of them because it just seems almost impossible to believe. Think about it really hard, do you actually believe that there is some area out there in space or in the sky where there are dead people? Or some deep underground place where dead people have to suffer because of what they did in their life? Seems almost difficult to believe but I'd rather believe in the afterlife than reincarnation. I don't mean to offend anyone that does believe in either, by the way, it's just my thoughts.

Far better

Both, afterlife and reincarnation sound more than great since nobody actually knows what happens after we die. We can only hope for either of these two things happening. If I could choose then I would prefer the afterlife though.

Yes, reincarnation permits you to live again but you are born as somebody else. You aren't you anymore, you become somebody else and you lose all your memories.

The afterlife doesn't allow you to be alive but you are still present somewhere else beyond Earth. You still have all of your memories with you and you don't become somebody else. What is the best about the afterlife is the fact that you are reunited with all your loved ones. That would truly be like heaven.

After Life

I believe in Afterlife and I don not believe in reincarnation. There is no way to know who is right and wrong about this but I definetly hope that i am right.
Posted by BigDreamer on 09-13-2017

You are right the afterlife cannot explain it must be believed it exists as Good exists. There must be something after we end our life here and that is the afterlife. I don't agree with reincarnation, that is impossible, to exist over and over in different body's seems to hard to understand for me.

I Hope For It

I have often wondered if there may be an afterlife or not. I have seen and heard evidence of it in some experiences I have had, and in talking with others; however, I am still not completely convinced. I know this is a leap of faith and an act of hope to believe in such a thing, but sometimes I think the idea was just created by human culture to comfort the living who have lost loved ones and who realize that their time of leaving this mortal coil is fast approaching. I am not sure if we keep our identities after death, or if there is a heaven, or if we just travel the dimensions as pure unbridled energy. Who knows? Still, I'd rather hope for this afterlife than to keep being reincarnated here, but that's just me.
Posted by JoeMilford on 09-13-2017

Afterlife is my preference though reincarnation is

I would prefer to find out that there is an afterlife that is not reincarnation because with reincarnation there is no memory of what came before so it's the same as if it never happened if you are reincarnated into an earth that is the same as the one we live in now. Unless in our reincarnation we came back into a world where it is common knowledge that we are all one continuous entity that recycles itself continuously, we would still be stuck with a very limited view of life and what it is about. However, with an afterlife which allows for a continuum of sorts (or the realization that all things happen in all time, all the time simultaneously) you are then free to develop yourself to your fullest understanding of what you are not being fettered to a physical body that has no mental memory of itself in other forms. Reincarnation just seems to much like death the way it is now because without knowing that it has happened, has it?

Even if no one really knows what is going to happen after we die i still hope that afterlife is true. I think it is better to believe that after we leave earth we have a life beyond. Though it's scary to think of hell i still hope i won't end up there and be in a place where there's no problem to encounter, full of life and happiness, beautiful people and sorroundings. I still prefer that will happen after i die. Rather than reincarnation, wherein you think that at long last you will be free of hardship in life cause your dying but end up living again and starting a life full of trials and hardship over and over again.
Posted by zheh on 09-13-2017

The afterlife.

I prefer afterlife because for me, after we leave in this world, we are going to be back where we came from. A life that is eternity and peaceful. We will leave our past selves and face the new us. Each one of us will soon know what afterlife is.
Posted by blank629 on 09-13-2017

Live More

I know nothing about afterlife or reincarnation but If I have to choose, I think afterlife is more credible. I believe in the bible and it says there that we have life after we die and that is heaven. Religion will always be the strongest proof of afterlife.
Posted by geloi on 09-14-2017

More preferable to me

I would be choosing Afterlife for the obvious reasons which is not willing to pass through the sufferings and challenges I'm facing in this present life. Believe me when I tell you, life has been hard for me so far. Nothing good comes easy, it's from one struggle and toiling to another before making ends meet.

So why would I look to be reincarnated to come for a second missionary journey in suffering? That's not going to happen if I have control over after death. I will pretty much prefer Afterlife over reincarnation any day, and anytime.

No one Knows for sure

Scientifically speaking matter cannot be destroyed it can only transform. In this line of thought when a person dies his body is transformed into dust. But the question is what happens to his soul?
Religiously speaking according to Christian teachings the soul will either go to heaven or hell but first it must await judgement day. Which as I understand it relies on the second coming of Jesus Christ.

After your long journey that was your life, you are dead. I hope you enjoyed it, because now you are starting it again, with new rules, a new body, new everything! This is how reincarnation could be summed up: you keep existing in this world, but in another form. Might be another human body, male or female - no matter what you were before, without memories about what happened in your previous life. Many people think that the deja vu are related to reincarnation. But who know, you might end up being an animal, from something big and powerful like a lion or a elephant from tiny creatures like frogs or squirrel. Maybe even bugs, reincarnation can have very different interpreations. The main religion that believe in Reincarnation is Buddhism, but there are reincarnation interpretations also in the Induism, and some similar theories in the ancient Greek mythology (but most in ancient philosophy, mainly Plato). You will always be there with reincarnation, but in different forms.

  • You keep existing on this earth
  • You get to make totally new experiences, even if you don't know it
  • Someone believe reincarnation offer a choice: you can choose anything you like

  • You'll probably forgot everything about your past life or lives
  • You might end up in some creature with a hard or short life
  • With many reincarnation, who exactly is "you"?

Another chance

Let's face it. Life is short. There will be times when we would ponder and think that we still haven't fully experienced what life has to offer. If reincarnation was real, then we would have a chance to experience everything we want in life. We would also have second chances, a fresh start. It would be awesome.

But of course, I would love to be reincarnated as a human being once more. It would suck if I get reincarnated as a plant or an insect or an animal (except for birds, I think birds are awesome).

They say we come back to the life to do things we always wanted to do. And then we do this till we are satisfied. And that's how the things are going to be ahead. You can see that afterlife is more of limited scope. And in such case reincarnation feels more realistic. And it seems like more closure to the nirvana. I think that's for the reason I'd go for something like this.
Posted by overcast on 09-17-2017

I prefer this

I don't believe in either of these, but if I could choose, I'd go with reincarnation. I think it would be fun to get to go back and live again. I would just hope I don't get born as a lizard or something like that. I'd like to be born as a human again. The only thing I'd really dislike about this is going through school again, but otherwise I think it would be fun to experience life on Earth again this way.

Partly believed

I believe in both but reincarnation seemed to apply more to me . Maybe after reincarnation everyone goes to afterlife . I've read about reincarnation and i do have things that i can remember yet never happened to me . For example i remembered being stabbed in my stomach which can be the reason of my death in my past life and i can still feel the pain in the area yet i was never stabbed in this life . I could also remember being in my moms tummy while she was pregnant of me .

Africans believe in Reincarnation

If you are an African born, heritage and culture, you would definitely had been told about stories of reincarnation of your forefathers in the present members in their society. Africans are quite good in passing down customs, culture, history and traditions from one generation to another with a great ease.

In my community, reincarnation is a serious tradition nobody joke with. There are certain sacrifices made on behalf of any reincarnation that the elders believe to have taken place so as to wipe off the flaws of the previous person whom the current person reincarnated from.

Depending on the kind of reputation of the previous person, determines the amount of sacrifice to be made. Some sacrifices might involves killing of a cow, horse, goat, ram or chicken. Without doing this, it's believed that an untold evil would be following such person for the rest of his or her perpetual life.

Sorry if it seemed like I didn't took it seriously. I do realize that the description might sound silly, but this site is just for fun and I didn't want to write something overly serious like a school book. I respect every belief and treat them seriously in the proper occasion, but in this case it's just something for fun to see what people would prefer if they had a choice.

I believe in the idea of reincarnation more than afterlife. I mean if there really is life after death and a place where dead people go, I'm pretty sure it is already over populated and crowded in there.

Particularly, I don't have enough reasons to say that I believe in some of those options. I have to say that I don't discard them completely, but I don't believe 100% in them either. So, I don't vote for any of them (but if I were to vote, it would be 50% to 50%).
Posted by wiseagent on 09-12-2017
In my culture, reincarnation doesn't exist. I've been raised with the belief that if you die you're not going to reborn again in another body but you'll get the eternal life because you'll rise to heaven and live next to God. My family and friends are Catholics or Christians so they have that belief. I don't really care what happens after I die, it's better to care about how to live your life instead of thinking about when I'll be dead.
Posted by cubo on 09-12-2017
I prefer to believe in an Afterlife because this is what my faith teaches. Those who are found worthy of the afterlife will live in God's kingdom for eternity while those who rebel against God will be destroyed in the fires of hell. Many say that this is simplistic but then no one has come back to earth after dying. Reincarnation in different forms is more unbelievable for me and even the religious groups that believe in it have different ideas how it happens.
Posted by chatbox on 09-12-2017
There is actually a life after death for everyone but it depends on how each individual must have lived his or her life , whether good or bad . Those that lived holy lives are allowed by God to later live in a new earth while those that live in sin without repentance will be condemned to eternal damnation.
Posted by babyright on 09-12-2017
I would like to enjoy reincarnation simply because this life is full of enjoyment that one won't like a situation whereby once you're dead, you won't be coming back again. Also, the reason reincarnation is a nice choice to make is as a result of the fact that in life, we always make mistakes that we would have liked to correct, so reincarnation gives us the opportunity to correct those mistakes of life. I wish it is possible that one can come back to life after death.
Posted by Barida on 09-12-2017
I would like to believe life after death. Most religious people think that purpose of life is to go to place called Heaven. We are all visitors to this time, this place... We are just passing through. Our purpose is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love, and then we return home." GOD knows your time of birth and time of death it is what you do, in between that matters the most so, make the best of your journey...

I'm more concerned with living my life and doing good while living my life than I am with what happens when I am gone.

Based on my religion, it is the afterlife and not reincarnation. But I believe in reincarnation. I don't know if it is a Buddhist teaching or Hindu. Reincarnation is dying and being born again as another person. Some hypnotists can do hypnotic regression to bring the person to his former self in his former life. If that kind of hypnotism is true then reincarnation is a reality. The soul reincarnates to a better person until you reach the highest level and that would be the final reincarnation. After that, you go to the afterlife which is heaven in our interpretation. But I know that no one has presented proof of that whether reincarnation of afterlife.
Posted by Corzhens on 09-13-2017
In our religion, we have an afterlife. And I truly believe in an afterlife, because there are near death experience of them seeing a beautiful place where they only feel happy. I believe that it's heaven as we believe where good people who died go. It is an eternal life with our creator. It makes us happy that we will be in a place like that after our death.

If I could choose, I would pick Reincarnation. I'm a Korean Drama Fan, and this is where I get to understand more what Reincarnation is through their dramas. I would definitely love to live again and be reincarnated as the person whom I always wanted to be in the past life. I've been living miserably and if I could just undo life then I would definitely do it. However, this is so impossible and so I would like to be reincarnated again and renew my life.
Posted by DanoCath on 09-13-2017
This is kind of a very iffy subject for me, as I would imagine it is for many people. As someone who closely identifies with Buddhist beliefs, I'm inclined to believe in reincarnation. Not only because it is the religion I most closely identify with, but because there has actually been some degree of scientific evidence supporting reincarnation. That being said, even though I've resorted to believing in reincarnation, I kind of don't want it to be real. There is so much suffering on Earth and I wish it were so simple as be a good person in life, then die and go to a heavenly afterlife. As much as I want to believe in a Heaven and that I would go there, I just don't think it's a likely scenario.
Posted by Denis_P on 09-13-2017
In our culture and beliefs there is a life after death that after you died your soul will be judge based on what you've done when you are alive. Whether your soul will go to heaven where only happiness is present not like in hell that you will suffer eternally in an ocean of fire as consequence to your sinful deeds.
Posted by rogel on 09-13-2017
i don't belief in the reincarnation there is no proof that its true its only a theory. but i believe in afterlife i am a Christian and the bible is the proof that it is real try to study the bible you can see the proof all that is happening in our world today is written in the bible. hell and heaven is real.
Posted by tophew on 09-13-2017
This is actually quite the comparison. I always find myself wishing that I had knowledge prior to my own when growing up just to have some sort of advantage I think. Reincarnation turns out a bit differently in different religions that believe in that so knowing which version of that you'd get is kind of different. Me, on the other hand, would probably prefer to get have an afterlife because in almost any version of the afterlife there are two distinct places (three if you count purgatory but it isn't as consistent). Heaven and Hell. Which one you will end up in is anyone's guess but if you're generally a bad person you'll probably end up in Hell. I think I like the thought of eternal pleasure rather than dealing with this place we call Earth a second time.

Being a Christian I believe in the afterlife. It gives me comfort to know that when I die I will be with the family members that I have lost. I do believe that I will see them again some day. It is my belief that gets me through the difficult loses I have experienced in my life. I have watched a few shows that have dealt with reincarnation and it really gets you thinking, what if? But I find the concept all so hard to believe.

My opinion has nothing to do with religious beliefs. But if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the afterlife over reincarnation. I like the idea of taking on a new realm. Instead of doing this life in a new body all over again. To be honest, I'm still not quite sure how the whole life after death thing works. But the thought of afterlife seems like a new chapter in the continuation of spirit. Which intrigues me. Nevertheless, I'm here to live now and I don't like focusing on death in general. I prefer living!

I am a Hindu. In Hinduism there are two schools of thoughts: one there is another realm of the dead, two, after you die, you are born again. I follow the second school of thought. I am a firm believer of Kara. According to karma , when you die, you are born again, and your deeds in this life will determine your life in your next cycle
Posted by vinaya on 09-13-2017
Afterlife, I "believe" there's a better place after this one. I would love to believe that. I'm catholic and my whole family think this way but the truth is I'm not certain about it, no one has return to say it is a nice place after all, or if there is a "place" in general. I don't know what is true and what's a lie so I guess I would go for what I've been taught to, just because I have to pick a side and my culture don't believe in reincarnation...
Posted by Pink_Turtle on 09-13-2017
I think we have kind of complicated the things about life. We don't get many things in life. Say family, money, sex and other things. But the thing is that we have to consider life as an opportunity. And if we dont get those things it'd be reasonable to say that afterlife has it's set of the limits. And for that I'd say reincarnation is like an option to give us a chance to live the world the way we want till we get moksha.
Posted by overcast on 09-17-2017
In my culture people don't believe in reincarnation, people believe that after dying they will be in heaven with God. I personally don't know what will happen after I die, if my soul will be going somewhere, if so, the afterlife doesn't sound bad at all, sharing eternity with the people you once loved, sounds like the best plan possible. Meanwhile, I will try to make the best of my life on earth.
Posted by felabruno on 09-17-2017
No one knows what happens after death because none of the dead people have come back to explain what's it like to be dead. Our interpretation of afterlife or reincarnation is based on the religion we follow. In Christanity or Islam, there is no reincarnation for common people, in Hinduism and Buddhism there is afterlife as well as reincarnation.
Posted by vinaya on 01-28-2018
I believe in both. My religion comes from a place where you will die and reincarnate all right but before that, you will spend some time on an afterlife thing, kinda like a school, where you will reflect on all the bad and right you were done and learn from it
Posted by Marvadaum on 09-17-2017
I don't believe in them because my religion teaches that nothing like these two exist .I want to believe that this is the truth. When once someone dies, he or she goes into oblivion, nothing life afterlife, and all that indoctrination. We just have this life to live and that's it.
Posted by lovely on 09-18-2017
I usually think in reincarnation. About what if reincarnation is really true? That after you died you will be born again in different time, place and body. However, I always read in bible and I do believe in God. His words are the truth for me. He says, after your death, you'll be in a long sleep until his coming. Then you will be judge by your doings on earth if you are qualified and worthy to enter His kingdom. There is no reincarnation. You only live once. You die once. Then your attitude and beliefs will matter you if you'll be in heaven or hell.

I recently became adept at spiritualism, so my mind was opened to the concept of reincarnation. To be honest, reincarnation makes a lot of sense to me now, mainly because we live a life full of learning to evolve spiritually. Certainly my choice is reincarnation.

Eternity is life with a beginning, but without an end. Once it begins, it never ends whether it's to joy or sadness. Your eternity lies in your hands. You choose where you want to belong after life and where you don't want to belong. Whether we like it or not, we belong to an eternity after life. Every man should be interested about this topic because all of us will surely face it at the appointed time that will never change. Together with my family, I have chosen the eternity of light and joy. Whoever does not make this will have his own part in the eternity of darkness and sorrow.
Posted by potentialwriter on 10-07-2017
I read somewhere that how we live in the present life determines how we will come back after being reincarnated. If you are mean and evil, your soul might come back in a body of an animal and your purpose will be to see and learn the right thing. I also read that people are only given 3 chances when it came to reincarnation.

But I think afterlife is better.
Posted by mildredtabitha on 11-14-2017
Reincarnation for me is much more reliable compare to after life. If There's afterlife, they're probably over populated right now. They probably having some problem right now and they need to control the death in real life to not get over populated. and then, after that? what will happened to them? how about the baby who die young? are they grow up in after life? How about the old one? are they will die soon because of being old?
Posted by ion on 03-07-2018
Reincarnation is the return to Earth of the spirit that was in the spirit world, to continue to evolve, through a new birth and a new human body, which is a kind of clothing for the spirit, and that needs here to interact with matter . But, knowledge and personality are in the spirit. The union of spirit and body occurs in the conception.

We humans can only reincarnate as human beings, we can not go back as animals because we do not regress in evolution. Nor do we reincarnate in "another person," but with a new human body and a new birth.

WITHOUT REINCARNATION, IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO EVOLVE OR PERFECT. And there can only be past and future lives with reincarnation.
