All countries should have laws against mistreatment of animals
Many people mistreat animals, whether they are their owners or not. They keep them in terrible places, don't give them food or even leave them somewhere to die and beat them. Some countries don't even have any laws against that! Or they don't care about sentencing those bad people and don't treat that as a serious crime. Why does it still happen? Why aren't the prosecutors acting and doing something about such crimes?

Every country should respect every life

Therefore we should respect animals for they have life. Just put your feet on their shoes, and I am sure that you will agree to have a law against mistreatment of animals

I agree!

I do agree with you, but there is another bad situation, for example, we have laws against animal abuse, but no one cares about them and if an abuse of an animal is happening most of the people make to not see what is happening, and this is sad. What I am trying to say is that there may be laws but if people don't care, the laws exist for nothing!

I also have the same thinking as you. Laws can help, but they are not the solution to animal abuse. If laws were the solution, it would be enough to create laws and the whole society would be perfect.

Animals or not they are living beings and no living being deserves to be mistreated in that sense all living beings should be protected by law so mistreatments happen less often

Legislation to protect animals in important and needed. I'd also like to see global regulations in how animals raised for slaughter are treated.

Yes, Yes and Yes!

This should be more than an inherent obligation of a good human being, it should be a law (with severe penalties for whoever commits it) on every piece of land on this planet.

I hate these kind of people and honestly, I think that would be the case of life imprisonment (depending on the level of bad treatment, obviously).

Right on the money

Well, animals surely can't talk but they possess emotions like any other living creature. They know when they are hurt. They know when to be happy. We should never abuse the animals in any way as these creatures should be treated properly according to the laws of nature. If we won;t treat them properly then nature won't do good for us.

I also have the same thinking. I think nature gives us back everything we've laid for her. So if you mistreat the animals, the universe will conspire against you, in this life or in another.

Yes, it's necessary

I'm an animal lover and I think every country should have laws against mistreatment of animals and any law that can protect them as well as there are laws to protect people from others. Animals are living beings and they deserve respect because they don't attack people, at least, they feel threatened by them. Also, they do more for the planet than us and they don't contribute to pollute it.

Totally in support

In the world we live in today, animal are even now proving to be more loyal, useful and far more trustworthy than human beings. So therefore, I really find it disgusting having to see anyone who is an animal abuser. If it's up to such person should get a minimum of 2 years imprisonment and 6 months of community service in a pet store. I'm totally in support that all countries should have laws against mistreatment of animal.

I also think it is important to have laws, but I ask myself: Will punishment for this kind of person really make her come to respect and understand the importance of animals? I think the punishment should indeed exist, but I do not know how that could change for these people to change their concepts.

Animal rights.

I've seen a lot of animal abuse and I'm not happy about it. It's really appropriate to have a law for animal abuse to protect their rights. Not because they're animals, doesn't mean that it's okay to do bad things to them. Whether animals or not, It's not a good thing to hurt anyone. I do wish to make the penalty or sanction to go higher.

I'm okay with killing dangerous or predatory animals in self-defense. Gators, crocs, rabid dogs, etc. But the mistreatment of animals globally has gotten out of control. From the ivory and skin trade in Africa, to the shark fin trade which operates internationally and domestically. This stuff is completely unnecessary.

I Totally AGREE

I really agree that ANIMAL RIGHTS should really be supported, so that we can ensure their SAFETY in all aspects. In our country I believe that we have that law implemented already, but it seems that other people still tries to get away with it, others would claim ignorance and do a lot of unlawful treatment to animals. My point is that if law will be implemented to every countries, there will be no more contention of any manner because it is a worldwide LAW already!

I myself have nothing at all against animals and I'm not indifferent to their well-being either just for the record. Things like animal protection laws where in some place seems necessary in other places it is counterproductive and would hurt society. In western countries where our reliance on animals is to a minimum and they are more like cognitive beings rather than lesser beings, we have the liberty to do things like that. In places where animals are more acutely relied upon to do things like carrying things and mow lawns and places where agriculture is still in infancy. For society in those places to work they need the animals to obey and follow their orders, and for the animals to obey and follow orders they need to let them know who is the alpha, not to be an ass. So we only think things like that should happen because we don't rely on animals to survive besides all of the cows we domesticate and breed for the slaughter, which we don't even NEED.

Absolutely, there should be. I am very much in favor of animal rights. It is up to us to speak for the animals who have no voice. It is cruel and inhumane to be mean to pets. I love animals, and can not abide anyone who does not treat their animal well. It is simply a right for animals to be treated kindly and with dignity. They deserve it.

Cruelty to animals is punishable by our law here. And as a sample, there were several who went to jail for mistreating pets. To think that they would buy a pet and have the animals suffer by being tied to the gate and endure the weather and elements. That is plain cruelty that is punishable by law. There are also civic organizations here that provide free service in rescuing such animals in distress.

We have already law against mistreatment of animals in our country. We have a non-government organization that oversees the welfare of the animals. If they found someone doing cruel things to animals they're the one that files case against the violator. And the violator could be charge of imprisonment.

In my own country i am not sure if there is any law against mistreatment of animals. Lots of people that owns animals in our place dont give the animals especially the dogs good food and they treat them anyhow, so i think it will be good if there is a law to help protect the mistreatment of animals.
Posted by babyright on 10-19-2017
Even the idea of owning an animal is weird to me, I think humans should let animals alone in the nature, as far as I'm concern, never a dog have said "I'm happy to be your dog" or a lion "just take me to the Zoo, I'm getting sick of the wilderness" .
Posted by joey98 on 10-19-2017
True, because many animals are being treated badly. Good thing in my country, there is a law to protect these animal from being mistreated. For me animals are living created that also need love and care like people does.

I am a dog lover so naturally I would go for that law against cruelty to animals. Just here in our neighborhood, I have been seeing dogs tied to the gate. Poor animals suffer the heat of the sun and get wet when it rains. There’s no kennel, just a leash or a chain which makes the dogs serve as their house security guard. Sometimes we hear the yelp of dogs that are being hit by their owners. My husband was restraining me to report those abuses to authorities because it might cause a rift with neighbors and that is not good. But if there is a law then those bad owners can go to jail.

It would not be practical for all countries. Centuries of traditions have been passed down and we need to respect other cultures (even if we don't agree with them). I am an animal lover and am even against hunting, however while I can try influence others, I can not control their actions. While I appreciate the various groups trying to stop the abuse of animals I think more emphasis should be placed on protecting the millions of people who suffer abuse daily.

I agree that all countries should have laws that will punish people who mistreat animals. I believe that the more civilized society becomes, the more that people treat animals humanely. My country has laws against cruelty to animals yet the penalties seem to be too low and their implementation too lenient that they fail to deter people from being cruel against animals. When a country has problems implementing laws to protect human rights, it is obviously not in a position to implement laws that protect animal rights. Even so, it is important to have these laws in place so that people who care can have basis to bring the case against people who maltreat animals.

I don't think we should be overwhelmed with this issue. I don't mean that people should mistreat animals, however, we should also be aware that animals are also our foods. As long as we are eating animals, we should not create issues with animal rights.
Posted by vinaya on 10-20-2017
There should but the reality is that humans come first and everything else secondary. Especially animals raised as food. Plus there's supply and demand to meet so human rights for food stock is nearly nonexistent for that reason. The earth doesn't have the space, capacity and the means to let all cattle be grass fed and free range. It's not sustainable. Look at South America razing down forests for growing cattle, ect.

Much as I love animals of all descriptions and am very much in favor of supporting anything that would put a stop to every form of animal abuse - as this is something that I feel very strongly about - I can't in all honesty either agree or disagree on this one.

Simply because - although making it mandatory for all countries to have animal abuse laws does sound like a solution to the problem - it is unfortunately highly unlikely to be - particularly bearing in mind the fact that - laws are only any good if they are actually enforced.

In fact a prime example of the latter - would be where I live - as even though we do have what are said to be very strict laws regarding animal abuse - on paper - meaning - they're rarely, if ever enforced - they're not exactly much help in putting an end to the suffering that animals here - have to endure each and every day of their lives.

Animals are creatures with life thus they are also entitled of their rights. To have enough food and shelter and be treated accordingly. Having laws that will protect these animals would be very beneficial for both humans and animals.
Posted by Istine on 10-25-2017
They deserve to be carefully protected as they also have lives as us. God created us and gave us the highest knowledge than of those other creatures to carefully take care of them but sometimes people are so abusive to the point that they physically hurt those stray dogs. Sometimes dogs or other animals become aggressive because they want to protect their selves from the people who hurt them. They might have experiences about maltreated by some people as to why they become aggressive as that.

Prosecutors can only act if there are laws against animal cruelty. While countries can have varying regard for animal rights, most initiatives for laws against animal cruelty have come from private sector organizations. The more active these groups are, the more likely it is for a country to have laws that implement basic protection for animals. Societies where there is a high level of respect for human rights and are far advanced in economic and social development are more likely to have laws that ensure animal rights protection. Countries which are struggling tend to focus on improving human conditions than protecting animal rights. There may be laws against maltreatment of animals, but the consequences for the violators may not be significant enough to discourage violence against animals.

I agree, mistreatment and cruelty should not be tolerated even in farm animals. Even though some animals are for consumption, they should be treated in accordance with the standards and as provided by law. All living things has rights and it us that speaks should do something about it.
