Being a leader

Being a leader
If there's something that many people want in their life is power, or even just be important. Sure not everyone want it, some of us just want quiet nice lifes, but there are others that would pay to be a leader! I say "leader" in a very large meaning, just referring to a single person leading a group of other people. It could just a boss at work, you could be the leader of an office and organize everyone else, their job, or even in a restaurant, a factory, or who know what else. But it could also be a leader in a political way: maybe simple just as being the mayor of your town, and if your town is small then it's not too impossible. Or maybe something even more, like the President... I know, it's unrealistic, but everyone can dream. Taking even further, you could be a king, a emperor... Okay, you got it. A leader, with a bunch of follower liking you and obeying your orders.... or not. Of course being a leader doesn't mean that you won't have any problems, indeed. You need to be a good leader - and that in itself is not easy! - otherwise people will start not liking you. You need to make the good choice, to maybe be charismatic, to stand the pressure of your goal and act exactly not how the people want you to act, but how the people need you to act, in ways that they don't even realize until you take them in action. But even being a good leader won't make everyone happy: people have different opinions and thoughts about different topics, so you'll likely to have some form of opposition. It might even become dangerous. Remember that you as a leader are just human, not a god. You will still have limit, and you need to recognize and know them. Be the hero your world deserves.

Bit of both

Depends on the situation I guess but I do like to be the leader whenever I can. I don't why but I guess I just enjoy telling people what to do and to make sure that everything is done perfectly. I also hate it when something is done the way I would have liked it to be done so I guess that is why I like being a leader. Of course, I try to listen to the people that "follow" me and make sure that they have some input in decisions as well.

I'd like to be the leader

I don't mean I do not follow others, but I would prefer to have my own say, and guide others. Moreover, I would always prefer to be the leader of my own life, rather than just follow others. I also read that being a mom is already a leader, whether you like it or not, as you are leading your children when they are young, and I really enjoy doing that. If there are someone who is really wise, I don't mind following him or her.

Leader

Letting people work under you is a good feeling. And you can do a lot better job. You can see that being follower is easy and lazy job. But being a leader is harder and it's not for everyone. But the benefit are countless. But it takes same level of effort to do the same. We all learn from our mistakes and things from the way I see it for sure.

Power is everything

I would love to be thought of now as a leader, albeit on a tiny scale. I often dream of being Queen of my own island, being able to set all the rules and decide who lives there. There is so much evil in the world, as a leader I could eradicate pretty much of it. The role of leader would mean I could make the world a better place. An elected leader carries more weight than an instant one (monarchy), although both forms have the ability to create change.

I'm a leader.

Being a leader has always been a natural behavior for me. Since I was a child I take the directions of things to other people (especially the people who are close to me).

I don't do this by imposition (because I repect everyone), I do according to what they can offer to help me (just as I can help them too).

Being a follower

Being a follower
As I said, not everyone dream of power, not everyone dream of being a leader for whatever reason. Sure there are many cons in being a leader itself and I already wrote enough of them in the other side of this versus, but some people just might not want to be a leader... because, without any specific reason. Maybe they prefer to have a leader, they prefer to have someone to guide them, to organize their life, their world, etc. They basically prefer to be a follower. And I know that "follower" might be a weird term since it applies just in some very specific cases, and different kind of leaders have different kind of "followers". A mayor will have the inhabitants of their town as his follower, a king will have its entire reign, and a leader of a office (or in general a working place) will have co-workers under him or her. You get the point, anyway, and please treat the term "follower" in this very large meaning. Being a follower is kinda easier, isn't it? You don't have to do anything, just live your life as it goes by. But your leader might not be that good. Maybe you live under a dictatorship, and your quality of life might not be that great. It doesn't even have to be a dictator, maybe it's just a bad leader that doesn't know how to act, what to do. Maybe the leader is actually good but you don't agree with their opinion, it can be any situation. Or maybe you actually like the leader, who makes good choices and lead his followers the good way, but you aren't happy with yourself, and you would like to be more important... basically, you are like the people I described at the beginning of the other side of this versus. And there is nothing bad about that, mind you! Everyone can dream whatever they want. And there are people that just dream to have a good leader, and being a good follower without nothing to worry about.

Pros
  • You'll have more time for yourself
  • You don't have too much responsabilities or stress
  • You will be able to live your life as you want, in most cases
  • All the decisions you take will be judged just by you (or maybe your friends and family, just a few people anyway)

Cons
  • There will be times where you might feel non important
  • If your leader is bad, there is little you can do in many cases
  • You will be depend on another person (more or less, depending on the situation)
  • Your power of decision will be mostly limited to yourself and not the whole world/city/reign

Be a leader but

Interesting versus! I think everyone wants to be a leader secretly don't they? I mean, who doesn't like having power and being in control? Aren't we all just control freaks at our very core? However, that said, while it's nice to have power. With lots of power comes lots of responsibility! And when you're the one up front, you're the one that people point fingers at and blame for the rest. And not everyone likes to accept responsibility for the actions of other people. Even though they are basically in control of them. For me, I'd like to be a leader, but only because it meant being in control and being able to restore order. But at the same time, I wouldn't mind being the guy just behind the leader as that way, I wouldn't have to bear the full weight of the responsibility. Also, I probably wouldn't be as targeted as leaders are. Look at war, it's usually the leaders, the generals etc that are taken out first since they are the ones in power. Still, there's always many that are willing to take their place right!? :)

Follower

I have never been one to be a leader. I am not outspoken enough and do not like to be in charge. I am a follower but there is a limit to what I will do. I know my limits so I would not follow somebody knowing what they are doing is wrong. Being a follower is not as stress a position as being a leader.

I follow

I don't mind leading but I still prefer being a follower because it's less responsibility and less weight on your shoulder. If somebody does something wrong you won't have to take the blame but the leader will.

Also, being a follower is far less stressful and you usually don't have to work as much as your leader which is fine with me. Being a leader is harder in every way.

I will follow you

Yes, I am a follower, I will follow whatever you tell me to do. I cannot be a leader because I am not firm nor consistent. Teaching my son alone shows that I am a follower, my son is the one who tag me along. I also follows my hubby instructions, I can never have my own opinion because I have no confidence in myself

Follower

It's hard to be a leader since becoming one has a great responsibility and needs skills to do such role. As a follower, you responsibility is just to obey rules, orders that your leader has imposed and it is much easier to do this as compared to becoming a leader.

Easier.

Throughout the years, a lot of people have called me lazy or unambitious for not wanting to strive to the position of leader. The truth of the matter is that it isn't that I lack ambition or motivation. The simple fact is that I don't feel the stress that comes with being a leader is worth earning that title. I would rather find a leader worthy of my effort and help follow and support him. There is less risk involved in a follower's position.

Less stress

Being a follower usually brings less stress about and it's easier to be done. Being a leader is not for everybody unfortunately and you got to be willing to make sacrificies

A good leader is a good follower.

I prefer giving others the chance to lead. I'd rather asses the situation first before concluding that I should take over. I don't play and act the "know it all" attitude especially if I have no knowledge about the subject matter thus I am very much open to following and being lead.

Follow the leader

I'm not ready to be a leader yet but I'm a good at following orders so I think, when I'm ready, I can be one. "With great power comes with great responsibility" That's what Uncle Ben said to Peter Parker. Being a leader has a lot of things to do and sacrifices to make so that's not for me, not until I saw myself in a mirror that I'm ready to be one.

If we're talking about a job, then obviously being the leader is great. You have a say in everything, you are your own boss and if you got to that position you probably love your job. If we're talking about life in general, it's difficult to say it. There are some situations where it's necessary to be a leader, and certain situations where being a follower is just fine. People who try to be important or the leader in everything they do are annoying and quickly get hated.

Depends on the situation. If it's a life or deaths scenario and your survival is paramount, then you want to be a leader so you can live to see tomorrow. However, if in said scenario there's a certain level of expertise and finesse required involving a scenario or situation you're not familiar with, but someone else in the group is. Then it's okay to be a follower. In that situation, you cannot lead because someone else is more well-versed on the situation than you are. They have intel you don't.

In my opinion, every one wants to become a leader but most of us end up being a follower. In the family, usually, father is the leader. If the mother refuses his leadership, a fight will ensue. The children will play quietly until everyone accepts the leadership of one, however, if other children also try to become the leader they will pick up a fight. This kind of thing happens everywhere. We all are a leader in our own way.

The family is really a big factor to develop a person's leadership skill. Fortunate are those people who grow up in a supportive family. A family that encourages and listens to the opinions of each member. A person who have raised this kind of family develops self confidence and has a bigger possibility to become a leader. On the other hand, there are family that the children are not allowed to give their opinions. People that belongs to this kind of family sometimes suffers inferiority complex. They are afraid that they will just be ignored by other people when they offer suggestions. They tend to keep whatever ideas they have in mind because that's what they are used to when they are in their homes.

I will like to be a leader especially if there are things I need to see happen.or change about a place or thing.Being a leader accord one respect and place one in a very dynamic role whereby one has the capacity to be flexible and change whatever it is without anyone stopping it.I will love to be a leader and I will lead by example.

I was told by my zodiac signs and all that I'm a leader. And the time came where that belief was tested on me. I failed as a leader who was earning hugely that time. Being a leader is tough especially if you're selfless one, a giver, someone who is okay to sacrifice for the teams' welfare. Cause at the end of the day, you'll find yourself being used, alone and realized that you have forgotten your family and yourself.

I have ever loved to be a leader, but a good and responsible one for that matter. Being a leader is full of responsibilities. This is where most world leaders have missed the road. Some imagine the position of a leader as that which is meant for priding around, overriding people about, cheating on other people and so on. Every good leader should be fully responsible to his followers. In fact, he must have been a good follower. If I happen to be a leader in life, people will enjoy the best of a leader in me.

I had been a follower in the first half of my life maybe because I am the youngest in the family. I grew up being submissive especially to my 11 siblings. But in my job, I started being a leader when I got promoted into the supervisory level. Since then, I had learned how to be a leader although I'm still a follower since I have my superiors.

Becoming a leader is the skill that I want develop for myself. Ever since when I was a kid, I always avoiding to be a leader even just in school organizations. I'd prefer to be just an ordinary member of a group than to be a leader. I'm comfortable doing the task assigned to me by my leader. I'm really afraid of taking the responsibilities of leading a group. I have brought this trait of mine until I grow up. Always avoiding the big responsibilities. But lately in my life, I realized that successful people in any area of life are those that reliable and a good leader. So I really need to change myself. Hopefully someday I could become a leader.

Being a leader involves a number of responsibilities that many people are not prepared to have (perhaps the vast majority of them). Being a leader really is not easy and it is not for everyone. On the other hand, being a follower is often easier and more comfortable. Honestly this is a difficult school for me because I do not like being a follower but I do not have the profile of a leader either. Maybe I'd rather learn to be a leader.

I think there are phases in life. Here we start from the follower phase and then move onto the leader phase. You can see that standards and the following with professionalism is not going to be an easy task. You have to focus on what you can get things done. I have seen some of the people being leader and doing a lot better job. That's something I have learned over a period of time for leader too.

Do you have to be one or the other? At times one must lead and other times one must follow, it all depends on the situation you are in. There are some people who never want to be a leader because they don't want responsibility. Then there are those who only ever want to be a leader due to ego issues. You can't always be the leader and a good leader knows how to delegate.

You don't have to struggle to become a leader, but rather concentrate on being a good follower. If you are able to make a good follower, be rest assured that you are going to make a good leader. The position of a leader is a position of responsibility and must be handled with care. You are responsible to the people you are leading in many ways. Understanding this fact and executing it is the beauty of leadership.
