Being able to change the past

Being able to change the past
Time travel have always been a interesting matter, but we are not talking about that here... at least, not exactly. We are talking just about the possibility of changing the past - it doesn't matter how. Maybe you go back in time and kill someone before he does something, maybe you have a magic book where you write something, you change a line in a history book... Anything is valid, as long as it changes the past! We are today to talk about just the action itself, about the act of changing the past. In something positive? In something negative? Up to you. Of course changing the past mean that the present will also change: maybe something will be better, maybe you prevent a terrible fate of someone, a gruesome event, or who know what else. But cause and effect often is a mistery, and you might end up making things worse. Maybe you kill someone but in his place arrive someone even worse, maybe you prevent the death of someone but they turns out to be villanous people, or you might even end up cancelling you, maybe avoiding the thing that made you going back in the past in the first place, creating a time paradox able to destroy the whole universe as we know it! It's a delicate thing to do! You have a lot of power in your hand if you actually do this, and you will have a lot of enemies or people who want to use your power for themselves. People that don't want the history to change, and people who want the history to change in their favour. There are a lot of movies, books, cartoons and stories where characters change the past, but in the majority of the cases that doesn't end well for them. Sure you can have a lot of advantages and with the smart changes you might have a awesome life... but is the risk worth it?

Pros
  • You can rewrite history as you know it
  • Wrong answer at a school test? Now it's correct!
  • You can change some bad events that happened, or cancel them entirely

Cons
  • You might end up undoing something good, or worse
  • Time paradoxes are a big risk for the whole universe
  • Maybe it's a power too big for the hand of a single human

Could rescue people from trauma

So much of the psychiatric and therapeutic field is trying to help patients cope with their trauma. Post traumatic stress can have lifelong consequence. If I had the power to change the past I could prevent these traumas from ever happening.

Change it

Wasted so much time in some situations that I could totally avoid and save myself some troubles and I didn't want to change just because I was stubborn and immature. Now when I look back in time I see how silly I was. Anyway, it helped me somehow to get some life experience.

I want to change the past!

Don't get me wrong I am happy with my life the way it is. But there are a few things in life that I can no longer do and I would like to do them 1 more time.

My grandfather died 6+ years ago and he was like a dad to me and what I wouldn't give to spend 1 more day with him. And I think that the vet killed my cat giving him too much medicine. I would like to go back in time and go to a different vet. Just stuff like that, because I wouldn't want to do anything that would change the way things are now.

Perfect life

I think both are pretty much equal but this way I can change my future by changing my past so I can get the best of both worlds. I initially thought that seeing the future could make me rich since I could know what to bet on, but then I figured that being able to change my past is essentially that since I'd already be in my past's future and still have the ability to tinker with my decisions back then.

Change the past

Being able to change the past is always better because if you make a mistake by doing the thing that you're supposed to do, you can easily go back time to redo it. Seeing the future only gives you a one time experience where if you did see what's gonna happen in the future and you messed up changing it, there's no turning back. You can redo your past over and over again. Once the future that you see finally comes to present and you messed up, there's no turning back.

Seeing the Future

I think I'll pick seeing the Future because it's easier than changing the past. If I can see the future all I have to do is look into the future and find out the winning numbers in the lottery and I'll get rich quickly.

Change the past

I choose this one because I am happen to be an adult already and there are things from the past that I did some mistakes and it happened when I was too young like a kid then I could go back and change it so that it won't happen anymore in the present. If have these two power when I'm just a baby then I'd choose to be to see the future instead.

Being able to see the future

Being able to see the future
Do you know what I'm going to say? Probably not. Do you know what will happen tomorrow? Who will win in that sport competition? Which ones will be the lucky numbers that will allow someone to win millions? How about some serious stuff, like upcoming murders, crimes, disasters and deaths? No one know that, and being able to see the future would grant you a lot of power in that manner. Sure, the main thing that people dream to do if they were able to see in the future was to become rich, but there is a lot more! Imagine the lives you could save, imagine the help you could give! You would be a useful resource for the world... and a very powerful weapon, indeed. Seeing the future, seeing the strategy of your enemies is a great way to defeat them easily. Like if you were able to see in the past, being able to see in the future would bring to you both friends and enemies. Maybe you could see the enemies coming and try to avoid that, but sooner or later it might become tiring and you might just wish for that to be over. And the worst part is that you know it will never end, or worse you know it will end in a terrible way - for you! You know everything that is going to happen! And this is also bad for your personal life, expecially if you like movies, books, tv series. Imagine years ago when Lost first started: knowing the future you would already knew the ending! Game of Thrones? You already know who win and who die. There are no plot twists for you, because you can say that you saw that coming... every single time. And can you see in the future now? Can you see the vote you are going to make on this versus?

Pros
  • You can prevent a lot of terrible stuff to happen
  • You can eventually become rich
  • You can be really useful to some good people

Cons
  • But you can also be very dangerous in the hands of bad people
  • No plot twists or surprsises for you
  • It might become a living nightmare from which you cannot escape

Being able to see the future

This is a kind of enquent that I am confused to answer, after all they are situation that will never happen. But hypothetically, if this could happen then I would rather be able to see the future. The past is past and I do not care anymore. The future is more important and more interesting. So if you can change it, it means you can save lives, hit the lottery and do other great things.

Future.

The past is past and helps us to remember who we really are (so it must remain intact). Predicting the future is more interesting because that would imply in being able to change your own destiny. This is definitelya great power.

Fast forward my life.

If I will given a chance to travel through time, I want to go to the future. Past is past. All you need to do is correct your mistake by doing a better future by seeing the future. If you see the future, it is easy for you now what will you do and your alternative option in case something happen. You can do a lot of things seeing the future than changing the past.

Neither is a good option; you cannot change the past because it has happened. As for the future, where there are possibilities it is still unwritten because every thought or action can alter the events. It is possible to have an idea of what could occur but nothing is ever guaranteed in life. One must accept that bad things and tragedies will happen and is part of life.

Neither of these - particularly as - altering the past may not be for the better but could change things for the worst and delving too far into the future is not a good thing either - especially as - not knowing what the future holds is what gives us hope and what our dreams are made of - something to strive for.

Which is in fact the very reason why - I've always been a strong believer in living in the present and enjoying each day as though it were your last - regardless of the challenges it throws your way - as life is way too short to waste dwelling on the past or delving too far into the future.

If you make a mistake today, your mistake will follow you your entire life. For example, you drank and drove car very fast. You had an accident and you lost your leg. You will have to suffer for the entire life. In order to amend the mistake you have to go to the past and correct it. Thje day you had accident, you don't drink and you don't drive very fast.

I prefer to be able to change the past. Some of my past life were not good. mistakes and ignorance were made along the years so i will prefer to be able to change the past so that the present will now be better for me.

There are many things in my past which I would like to change. I made some serious mistakes and those are things which I would like to correct. I lost some friends due to unfortunate consequences. As for the future, I don't really want to know about it. I am not a risk lover and I think well before taking any decisions.

Personally, I think none are truly fruitful since if you change your past you can't learn from it and if you see your future then you might always work towards changing it. So it's better to learn to cope with whatever hand you're dealt

In being able to change the past, there are so many things desired by all of us, I'm sure of that. However, there might be an unpleasant effect when something is changed in the past so maybe I will settle for seeing the future. First to come to my mind is the result of lottery and other contests and competition. I would be rich by that.

Exactly, what if what you do on your past, affects your present or even your future? I mean past is the past, you already did what you did and moved on with it. And for sure, I will check on the lottery too hahaha. I know money can't bring a solution and happiness for everything, but for sure can give comfort and some peace of mind. Specially when we think of education and health insurance.

I would rather be able to change the past. The you in the present knows what the mistake was, or the choice that wasn't made at the time that could have changed everything for the better. If you know what it is that could have made a huge impact on your life for the better, you can choose it instead of following the path you were already on.

Seeing the future doesn't prevent bad choices that have already been made. It just allows you to see the results of those choices at a later date. Also, I don't really want to know "what comes next" in my life. It wouldn't be much fun knowing what was coming up .

I used to think it might be good to go back to the past, as I would be able to see the good memories or make some changes that I think I shouldn't have been done when I was younger. But then when I am older, I realize all these mistakes and decision I have made make the today's me, and these are all good lessons and experiences for me. If I have made any changes, I might not become who I am today. I am more contented in who I am and where I am now, and I don't feel like going back to the past and make any changes. As for the future, I don't really want to fast forward to see how I will be. I enjoy walking the journey and revealing it slowly.
