Board games

Board games
Board games are as the name suggests games played on a board. There are different types of board games. Some are played by children, others are ideal for older players and adults. There are also some easy ones that can be played by everybody irrespective of their ages. Many board games are informative, and some require strategies to be incorporated. Examples of board games include Monopoly, Chinese checkers, Chess, and Scrabble. Nowadays, there are online versions of board games as well. More than one player is necessary to play these games and in online versions the computer becomes one of the players. The physical board restricts the number of players that can participate in playing the game. Moreover, more space is needed for spreading the board along with the counters, dice and any cards needed. There are pieces that are important, and it is important to keep an eye on them and store them properly so as to avoid getting anything lost. Making or developing such a game is a laborious process and as a result there are many board games which are quite expensive.

Many of the board games are devised to improve knowledge and strategic capabilities of players, and there is less scope for gambling with them. Such games are often intriguing and make the play time entertaining and fun filled.

More room is needed to spread the board, and yet only limited number of players can play this game at one time. These games can take up fairly a long time to complete the game. Most board games tend to be quite expensive.

I like Board Games

I enjoy playing board games instead of card games. Poker and games like it are great strategy games, but I like the interaction I get from playing board games with others better. I like card games, but if given the choice, I'd rather play Monopoly with four or five people than poker or the like. I like playing board games, as well, because if you have to stop for some reason, as long as you leave the board in a place where it can't be disturbed, you can always come back to it later, as a group, and finish it off. I have done this with the game RISK with my friends a few times.

Board games for me

I love board games. They are so challenging and engaging! I have a collection of board games. Recently I bought Ticket to Ride, which I really liked, and one with the Walking Dead theme which is really about strategy! The only drawback I see about board games is that they tend to take a while to set up and you do need space. So I play board games when I have plenty of time and want to spend an afternoon or evening having fun, such as when it is rainy or too hot outside or when I am not feeling that well. They really take your mind off things and it is great family quality time!

So much fun!

I have always loved playing any kind of games. Board and card games are great entertainment and bonding but I still prefer the board games a tiny bit more. The only reason is because I feel like you have far more different board games available, they constantly make new ones and they are more interactive compared to the card games.

I mean, who doesn't love some good old Monopoly? I love playing it even though that I am in my mid-twenties. It is great for when a bunch of friends come over and you just want to have a good time.

Board games!

As a kid, I grew up playing more board than card games. Usually, whenever I had a deck of cards, I would create makeshift houses with them (lol). But I was never really into card games until I got older.

I also slightly favor board games because I feel they have more to offer compared to your conventional deck of cards. My favorite ones growing up were Monopoly, Sorry, and Scrabble. We would switch between these three and play for hours in my household. Excellent memories!

Board games are king

I like playing board games and always have. Card games are fun and have the added advantage of not taking up too much room, but board games are some of the best. It is just one of the things you can use to have a good time with friends or relatives.

Board Games

I like both but we usually play board games at my house. We love to play Monopoly and Scrabble. Those are the two top games at my house.

My kind of thing

"Board games" are better and always more challenging. To some extent, board games can be very enigmatic (obviously taking into consideration the type of game... because there are a lot of board games that are pretty silly).

I prefer Board games

I'm not particularly good with card games. I find the board games more fun and engaging, so they are my best choice.

Traditional games

Board games had been a traditional games for family together in our family. I had been playing board games since my childhood days starting with DAM, Snake and Ladder and LUDO.

My favorite is Snake and Ladder because you get to kick your opponent when you are on the same number with him. Then he had to start all over again.

My son is a cheater. He plays by his own rules. He gets whatever number on the dice he wanted. Namely, he flip the dice, turn it to 6 when he needed it. Yeah, I know that is cheating but it is for fun.

Furthermore, nobody plays boardgames now. Everyone is focus on apps games on smartphones. There are even boardgames on the apps now.

I sure missed this traditional games that I used to play with my schoolmates.

Board Games are more fun!

For a true game experience , board game is more fun and enjoyable. Card games usually resemble gambling to me so I do not like that factor.

Board Games

I'd say board games are good for many reason. You can play them during vacation. You can play them with your kids and other family members. That being said, there are times you can see that it can be fun to play in various genres. So that's something you have to learn as you go. It's also cheap at cost.

Board games for me

My favorite board game is Monopoly. I find board games to be more fun that card games. I have always been playing board games with my family and due to those board games we had some great family moments. Board games can also help in the development of kids. Games like ludo, snakes and ladders, scrabbles can help improve the critical thinking skills of kids.

Board Games

Board games are much more different then card games and when playing board games I don't just feel like repeating the same thing over and over again like I do when playing a card game.

Board games are a lot more varied. Take for example the board game, Mouse Trap, you're actually building things to end the game making it a lot more diverse than just card games which is basically the same thing with a different concept.

Board games

I rather to play these kind of games than with cards, I think they are more entertain and I can have so much fun on them. Starting with the fact that board games has a lot more items or tools to be used, usually they also have cards in it, so I feel they have so much things to play with.
Posted by luispas on 07-29-2017

Board games are so varied! There's something for almost anyone, with all kinds of thematics, plotlines and styles, while cardgames are slightly more limited in their options.

Where there's more variety, there's more fun!

Posted by VintageRose on 07-29-2017

Board Games rule

Board games are more fun, knowledgeable, strategic and entertaining and gives less of that gambling feeling. Card games are good to burn some time with friends but the magic is more enlightening with Board games as they tend to give a more in-depth preoccupation of time and space to think about resolving subtle brain teasers. This is always a plus for anyone who loves to strategize and make the best use of time and energy with friends or even alone.

Shark, SHARK, Shark Attack!

There are so many kinds of board games that it's impossible to say there's not at least one out there for you! Some of them feature delightful contraptions. Others are more standard fare with tokens and dice. There are board games that can be played by two people and ones which can facilitate whole parties. What's not to love?
Posted by JaiGuru on 07-30-2017

I would say I like board games because it much more interactive and even much more fun to play when at least 3 people are involved. Although some board games are limited to just 2 players only, like chess and checkers. I really think that board games have better atmosphere when it comes to card games because the latter can get pretty serious most times.
Posted by giovanniiiii on 07-30-2017

Board Games

Board games are excellent as there is more depth to the games. We can really spend long hours to play certain board games. This will involve a large number of players. I think having figurines, tokens, dice, and other tools make the game more exciting. Board games require more thinking and strategy compared to card games.

Board games are the best!

In our home we play both board games and card games, but in the end I feel that board games are the best. Yes, they are more expensive and take up more space, but they have a themed element to them that really allows you to choose what you want out of the moment. Want to compete against each other in a game of strategy? There are games for that. Want to play something family friendly? Plenty of games there. Want to learn or teach something... yup, board games have those too. Not only do we play board games at home a lot, but we like to take along some favorites when we travel or go camping. Also, as an elementary school teacher, I find board games to be a great way for students to learn.

Wise games.

I like to play both types of games, but I prefer the board games because in general, I always like the games that usually "mess" with the intellect.

I don't like to play just by playing (although this is sometimes fun), I like to be challenged in some way.

Posted by wiseagent on 08-18-2017

All kinds of board games.

I'd like to play board games than card games. Anything board games is fine with me. Board games I like the most are chess, monopoly and snake and ladder. This three is what I always play. But chess is my number one board game to me.

I like board games!

I was born in 1974 so I grew up in the 70's and 80' and early 90's. And back then families were close and most people had a lot of free time because the digital age wasn't even born yet. So I sat around and played a lot of board games and I would still play them now if I had people to play them with.
Posted by Soulwatcher on 08-20-2017

Board games is more informative

The great thing about all board games is that, if you are not intelligent and smart enough at least to an average level, you will keep on losing to your opponent or to the computer if you are playing it online.

Board games are very educative, instructive and very capable in blistering ones mind to think faster than before in processing some certain task. It takes strategy decisions and technicality to master board games and on doing so makes one very ready to tackle some certain task presented to him or her.

Personally, the board game that I enjoy playing is Chess. It took me long while before I could understand and master how to play. I normally use to rush out with my main piece Knight and the rest and I fall victim of rash decision. It was later that I learnt that my pawns are used as baits which will enable me to trap my opponent and have him cornered which would eventually give me the win.

Board Games

I like board games than card games because playing a board game is a better family bondimg that card games. For me, card games are quite complicated to play. With board games, you can have more players and you can really enjoy playing it. We used to play Monopoly and snake and ladder when I was still a child. It's a big part of my childhood. It taught me that not everyone will be a winner, everyone will also lose the game as part of their continuously development.

I love board games, specially monopoly. Card games are very decent, you can save a lot of space in the room playing that. But it's just not fun with cards only, when there's a board it becomes more competitive. But this is only my opinion, i should go play monopoly with my friends soon.

Card games

Card games
Card games involve playing with cards and despite the fact that the first thing that comes to mind are the traditional playing cards, there are now countless card games with interesting pictures, themes and topics. There are an innumerable number of game variations possible with most card games, because of permutations and combinations of such cards. A normal, or traditional playing cards deck refers to the set of cards that have 52 cards in them, with four suits, i.e., spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. There are 13 cards for each suit starting with Ace, king, queen, jack, and 10 through 2. The randomization factor is associated with cards because of which they are often used for gambling. However, not all card games are dependent on luck. Some involve skills as well. Moreover, not all card games revolve around the above mentioned traditional “playing deck”. Many card games that have evolved since ancient times in different parts of the world, and many contemporary card games have different set of cards and are played very differently. There are very popular card games in vogue lately such as Exploding Kittens, Pokemon trading card games, and Cards against Humanity to mention a few. Card games are available for adults as well children. They can be used to educate children and engage them in activities when it is not possible to go outdoors for playing games. And then card games for older players involve more strategy and a great deal of advance thinking rather than merely luck.

The card set is compact and can be carried easily; Some card games such as solitaire can be played by single player. By combining more than one playing deck more players can be included in games such as rummy. Usually, these games do not require a lot of space for playing. Card games can also be easily replicated so they are in a way inexpensive. Nowadays, card games are available online too. Many short term games are around which means players do not require a considerable amount of time for playing these games. Some card games require skills and memory, which is a good exercise for the brain.

Since many card games are games of chance, they can be addictive. If one or more cards are lost or damaged in any way, the entire deck could end up getting wasted.

Poker is a mans game

When I was younger, as a little kid, I used to love playing board games more than card games. Card games didn't appeal much to me since either a) I didn't know many card games and b) they are just cards and board games have much more things going on. Like playing Monopoly or snakes and ladders even! So I do love playing board games, and enjoy playing those grown up adult board games. They are just plain down right hilarious to play sometimes and great for playing something a little more risque with friends and or in large groups. But these days I'm a little more grown up and while I like to shoot dice and the like, I prefer to generally play a card game like Blackjack or Poker. I play a lot of poker, whether online or on my phone or at home or around a friends house. We don't bet for real cash money at all lol..

52 cards have 53 games

I love to playing card. At 1995-1998 time we have been played a huge and huge time these card game. Popular card games were 29, Spectrum, Bray and Call bridge.

Thanks Centurion

Posted by centurion on 07-31-2017
Wow I've never even heard of them games! Popular games for me in those years were trumps, rummy, blackjack poker and ****head. I used to play a lot of that, dodgy name for an awesome game though.

I love betting

I love playing board games with my friends. They could be a nice way to bond with one another, and a pretty good time waster. The thing is, it's easy to get tired with board games.

Card games in the other hand are timeless. You can play by yourself (solitaire) or play with someone else. I love playing card games with someone else. Poker, Black Jack, and many other card games. They're pretty addicting. I love betting too. But not to the point that I would bet my house and my car.

When I play a card betting game, it would always be between me and my friends. And we only bet small amounts of cash so the loser won't feel that he lost.

Card games are much more fun and addicting, that's why I pick them over board games.

cards are portable

I enjoy cards games because you can fit a pack of cards in your pocket, but board games are just more bulky, and you have make sure you don't lose any of the pieces. I like when board games are out on game consoles.

A deck, unlimited opportunities

Board games are various, original, funny, and each of them have its own unique idea. Monopoly, Clue, Risiko... and I could go on and on. But they are expensive, and you need the board game for each of them. Cards game, however, are a ton: with a simple deck of cards you can play thousands of different games, and if you can you can even create your own game. A deck, unlimited opportunities.

Card games!

I like to play the board games a lot, especially scrabble and monopoly but I prefer the card games because it lasts less than a board game and it is much entertaining. Nothing compares with a poker and a beer with my friends!
Posted by wallet on 07-29-2017

Card games!

I love both but I would choose card games over board games. It is great because you don't need many people to play and there are many games you can play with one set of cards. Board games are entertaining but you always need a certain number of people to play and if you're not complete you just can't play and that's the thing I don't like about it.

A Recent Find For Me In Card Games

I have a new favorite card game. Normally, in this versus forum, I would always choose board games; however, some friends of mine recently introduced me to the game "Cards Against Humanity". I have never laughed so hard playing a card game with others, or playing any other game with others, as I did when I played this. It's sort of an ad-lib type activity, and each round ends with a vote as to who had the best hand. The cards have different phrases on them and you match categories to make "meaning". I must say though that this game is definitely an adult one, so be forewarned.
Posted by JoeMilford on 08-18-2017

Card games are a classic.

I prefer card games over board because of how versatile they can be, the compactness, and classical feel to them. I have quite a few packs of standard 52 cards around my house. I can pack them in a bag and take them with me wherever I go. I can take them camping and enjoy a game of Solitare by myself, or play a game of Rummy with my camping buddies. I can take it to a bar and play a drinking game. If someone has a set then we can play cribbage. That is just a tiny sliver of possibilities from just one deck of regular playing cards. The best card games to have come out recently are Cards Against Humanity. Probably not fun for the whole family but any adult with a good sense of humor could really enjoy these. There are expansion packs that add on more raunchy cards so you never run out of crazy messed up combinations to play with. Uno is a good game that helps kids learn their numbers and also lets you screw over the players next to you. Nothing like competition, am I right?

Wanna learn poker

I'm already bored with playing board games, so I'm all open to learning card games more especially poker games. I have played it online but it's not satisfying, so I'm looking forward to having someone teach me how to play it.

I think card games are easier to get going and play, have quicker games, and are typically more fun than board games. So for that reason I'd choose card games. Apples to Apples, Cards Against Humanity, and Uno are my go-to's.

I learned card games when I was in grade school but those games are for fun like gin rummy. When my father bought monopoly, that started my passion for board games and had totally forgotten card games. Looking back, I'd say board games are better because you get to use your mind unlike in card games where you just play for fun to while away the time. And I find that card games are more exciting when there are stakes which can be considered gambling. It is board games for me.

I like playing board and card games. I just depends on what we feel like playing at the time whether we play a board game or cards. I think that card games can be a little more flexible as far as where they are played. They are easier to take with you if you go on vacation. My favorite board game is Scrabble.
Posted by morgoodie on 07-30-2017
There isn't really any comparison. Board games are different to card games but they are games all the same. Both are games that can be played indoors on a rainy day. My brother and I like to play backgammon. At first, I was beating him all the time but now it is him who wins all the time. It makes me want to play more so I can get to beat him again.
Posted by JMS on 07-31-2017
LOL. I really can't choose. To be honest, I never thought it was necessary to choose. We played board games and card games when I was growing up. We could entertain ourselves. We'd play a board game until we got tired or bored. Then we might play card games. As far as my parents, neither game required electricity or batteries, so we could play them as much as we wanted! :)
Posted by cmoneyspinner on 07-31-2017
I like them both, I play board games with families and friends to bond and if we have a few hours to pass. While I play card games with them on the go, when we are just chilling outside. My favorite board game is Monopoly. For card game, it's Monopoly Deal or Uno.

I play card games as well as board games. Chess and Ludo are my favorite board games. I have been playing board games since my childhood days. I still enjoy board games. However, I prefer card games more than board games. I play various kinds of card games, sometimes I also play card games for money.
Posted by vinaya on 08-21-2017
Yeah, i am also one of those who loves both of them. The only basis is that it should be good enough to be played and enjoyed with friends. In board Games, i like to play Boggle a lot.Even yesterday I lost three times in Boggle but play it on my PlayStation and not physically.Nevertheless, the brain works the same whether Boggle is played in a video game or on a board. I have played card games for the last 5 years and loved each one of them. My favorites are "GET AWAY" or "BHABI THULLA".
Posted by muaaz.93 on 09-08-2017
I like board games a lot more. The only card games that I really like are games played with actual cards and even then I don't really find it all that fun if I'm not gambling. With board games, I could be amused even with just having a friendly game and I also have a lot of fun just checking out different ones because the different themes all bring with them a certain amount of charm that are specific only to that particular game or title. Additionally, one of my favorite non-tech games of all time is Monopoly, which is a classic board game, so I really have to side with board games on this one.
Posted by Wubwub on 08-26-2017
Board games are very good. The instruction on how to play the game, i believe is more straight forward than card games. The board games helps to test and improve your mental ability and how to plan properly to succeed in any task you embark on.

Though I play the two games but I prefer the board games,it really brain stimulating and I love them for that. I live monopoly, checker Scrabble and even the good old chess which is really my favourite.

Board games like to task the brain and keep it alive and at alert throughout the course of the very interesting if one is playing with people of above average IQ

I used to play scrabble with my siblings when we were young. We had lots of fun because it’s not really on the game that we were focused but on the mistakes that the players would commit. You can imagine the teasing and cheering that would cause our parents to reprimand us for the noise. In my adult years, I still play scrabble and other board games with the next generation of my nieces and nephews.

It depends on who you're playing with. Board games tend to be more evocative of a particular theme or setting, and I find board gaming to be more fun when all of the players are immersed in the game's atmosphere. card games tend to play faster, require mental bookkeeping and are rather banal by comparison.

I prefer board games but there's no opportunity to play them nowadays because it's not easy to gather enough people together to play. They're also very time consuming. We used to spend our weekends playing Monopoly, Chess, Scrabble, Games of the General, and Chinese Checkers. My son never got to play the games we used to enjoy in our childhood because his cousins are more interested in playing computer games. I'm not fond of card games at all but I do enjoy the digital card games on my PC.
