Bollywood Films With Best Soundtrack

These days video rental stores are practically nonexistent because they have been, for the most part, replaced by online video streaming services. But three (3) decades ago, when my husband and I bought our first VCR, we started renting videos on the weekend to watch. Video rental stores changed my life. How so? The stores introduced me to foreign films and in particular, to Bollywood films. What's so great about these Indian movies? The music! Yes, the dancing is awesome too. But you can't have dancing without music. Right?

Many of these films have a fabulous soundtrack. In fact, it's fun to search YouTube just looking for the songs. We (the hubby and me) have been watching Indian films for decades so it was hard to narrow down a list with the best soundtrack. Picked films that were made after 2000. This is our Top 5. Yes, 4 out of 5 are Priyanka Chopra movies. We are huge fans of this Bollywood beauty.

Below is a quick plot summary. In case you haven't seen these movies, the summary might peak your curiosity.

Unfortunately I can't vote for any specific option because I've never watched those movies or heard any of the songs related to them. However, considering the few movies of this new Hollywood... I think in general, it's a well-made production.

I have to say that the songs that I've had the opportunity to hear are very inspiring.

In fact, those movies have been improving a lot lately. It's been one of the growing trends and as a movie fan, it's always good to see more quality movies. Still those are nowhere near the real Hollywood sadly

They've been improving? See! I wouldn't know if they were "improving" as we Americans are really just beginning to get exposed to them. A lot of Americans don't want to watch them because of all the singing and dancing. But I like them! :)

Me neither, I'm not very experienced about Bollywood movies. So far, the only movies with India reference, that I've seen are: life of Pi, Kamasutra, and slumdog millionaire. All of them have a nice soundtrack, specially life of Pi. Fortunately, Indian movies are growing up fast, and taken in consideration. I totally love the artistic way they show their culture, dances, food, religion, and music.

The 3 that you have seen were pretty good though. I enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire. I thought it The End was ironic that they didn't know the answer but the storyline kept me interested - all the way from start to finish.

I grew up watching Bollywood movies. India is our neighbors. There is so much influence of Indian movies in our home country. Interestingly, I have watched all of these movies, and I don't think these movies have best sound track. However, if I have to choose anyone of these movies based on the soundtrack, I will choose Yuvraj.

Thanks for agreeing with me. I think the music from Yuvraaj is spectacular. As for the other movies, my husband plays a lot of the songs from the soundtrack over and over and over. He likes them that much, I figure maybe other people do too.

If I remember some good soundtracks I think fashion has the most beautiful music. It has various types of fusion and the silent sounds. So it's definitely on the top of my list. I'd say there are not many options though with new movies. Old music still sounds lot better in that context. I'd surely go for the old indian music.

Unfortunately, I have not watched any of the movies listed above. However, I have watched some Bollywood movies featuring Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan. Those are my favorite Bollywood actors and actress. However, lately, I have stopped watching movies featuring Shah Rukh Khan as his movies are not really as good as they used to be.

I haven't seen those movies :( I know there are some on Netflix and I should check them out because so far the Bollywood movies I've seen were all good. I've seen 4 Bolly movies so far and the one which music I remember the most is Kal Ho Naa Ho. I remember that there used to be Bollywood movies on TV here like 10 to 15 years ago. I wish they were more popular here.

I also love Bollywood movies. I have been watching them on a local TV channel called Zee World. I haven't watched the ones you mentioned and so it is hard to vote for any right now.

I like the music in movies I have watched like Chennai express, tanu weds manu, Singh is bling e.t.c

Well sorry about your choice of movies as either you stopped watching bollywood movies after 2011 or you never watched movies before 2008. Because you can't figure out the best music from these five films. But yes if you want to know which movie has the most hit songs and then it is "Aashiqui 2". That movie alone has the record for getting the most nominees in the best song category.

One thing I have noticed in Bollywood films is the music. It is always grand and what I can imagine is a live orchestra when they are injecting music to the film. Most of the movies also has the so called production number where the cast would dance and sometimes sing as well. That is the trademark of a Bollywood film? Maybe. When Jackie Chan made a movie in India, there was the production number at the end of the movie. I think that title of the film was Kung Fu Yoga.
