Capital punishment is right for public office holders that misappropriate funds
Most of the government of the world is being run based on democratic system of government. While I think that this is one of the best, if not the best system of government, I think that the way that public office holders get involved in corruption is something that we should think about.

If the law will be setup that any public office holder caught being involved in financial crimes will face a serious punishment, I think that it is going to make things to work fine. Don't you think this will help to reduce the high rate of corruption in the world?

Agree

Lot of corruption is there. And people tend to use each other. And it can be really messy in that context. You can see that capital punishment in such context is right and something needs to be done on that. I know many people deny but I kind of agree with this mode of punishment for those who mishandle the law by being serving in government.

Law of the land is the correct way

Capital punishment is a horrible idea that makes us no better than animals. We all know that government officials are corrupt but we need to punish them with strong and reliable laws that send them to prison. We can't let mobs of people get in the way of justice.

Lower the Rate of Corruption. Oh Please!

What's worse than a gangster? A corrupt government official. They are in a position to cover up what they do. Meaning? They'll frame somebody else to take the blame. That's not saying they won't get caught and punished. But you asked if it help to reduce the high rate of corruption in the world. The answer is a flat out NO!!! Because people who are power-crazy are just that. CRAZY! And the “C” in crazy stand for CORRUPTION. History shows us that executing power-crazy has not reduced the rate of corruption. But still ... I don't object to them receiving capital punishment because ... how I see it ... they had it coming!

Is not the solution

I am very much aware of the effects of corruption as I can see it in my country. Corruption is a serious crime and must be punished accordingly. But I don't see capital punishment as an answer to this crimes. A life sentence is a better choice than capital punishment. They should live a life that resulted from corruption. In my opinion, this corrupt officials should live the lowest life of the common people. So that they will see and experience the things that resulted from their corruption.

I agree with what you said. It's just sad that it is for them to get out from the punishment. Well, what do you expect they own the law. it's really frustrating when it's the government who abuses the law first.

Capital Punishment should be given only in the rar

Well, I agree that corruption by public officers or civil servants is definitely a very serious crime. The public office is meant for serving the public and not for using to amass wealth. Corruption is certainly one of the most severe problems that can hinder the growth of a country. However, awarding capital punishment to corrupt officers cant be a solution to this. Capital punishment should be awarded only in the case of rarest of rare crimes like terrorism, serial killing, gruesome rape, and murders.

No

I'm so sorry for thinking this way, but this kind of punishment is too much for those who were tempted by money. It's the muderer, rapist, serial killers and such that should face this type of punishment. I'm really sorry, but they should have something that would make them fear the law. Reclusion Perpetua is very easy for them actually.

Too harsh

I don't think that killing someone is the answer for any crime in general and no way the answer to this kind of crime in particular. Punish those in office for economic matters yes , but in a way that makes yo actually worse than them.

No to capital punishment

While I fully support the idea of penalizing corrupt public officials, capital punishment should never be an option in this day and age. We have already progressed from the thinking that physical harm is a humane method of punishing criminals.

Do not agree

Capital punishments should only be given for murders, rapists and sexual offenders. People involved in corruption can be given rigorous imprisonment without the chance of parole. That way, people will think twice before involving themselves in corrupt activities. Capital punishment is way too much for people involved in corruption.

A bit harsh don't you think?

Capital punishment is excessive. My problem with it is as history would be my witness, it can and will be used improperly. Money and power talks. There have been many cases where an innocent person have been executed because they have no means to defend themselves properly because of lack of monetary funding. I am sure this can also happen here though officials have power and influence there will always be someone who has more power who can pull strings and bend the law to their will.

No

Capital punishment is not right for public office holders that misappropriate public funds, in fact, this kind of punishment is too much for this kind of crime. Yes corruption indeed is a severe crime and it can greatly affect the masses but we need to consider their rights as human beings.

Capital punishment is barbaric

Come on, you can’t go around killing people. Capital punishment is barbaric. Sure, it’s wrong to steal but there are other ways of dealing with it rather than killing people

I think there's no solution even if folks do this. Corruption is getting worst and it can't be resolve especially people now adays are becoming worst and evil. Even you punish the corrupt like that , it's not the solution.

But it will go a long way to reduce the menance in the society. Corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of the society and this needs to be tackled head long to nip it in the bud.

No. I'm so sorry, but, those rapists and murderers should face this type of punishment. They need something that would shake them to stop them.

I think all offenders of the law should be given capital punishment to act as a deterrent to others. I just hope that this can be taken seriously by authority concerned.

I totally agree that capital punishment should be meted out to all defaulters of any criminal activities. I believe with this alot of crime will he reduced to the barest minimum.

I don't think capital punishment is the answer here. I think ultimately if someone misappropriates funds there should be measures taken to try and regain those funds, otherwise jail time is more appropriate IMO.

You cannot correct a mistake with an another mistake. Government should clean their own mess inside. Punishing one person may not be able to make them feel scared to do such acts instead it may result to a bigger problem. I think the best thing to do is for the people to choose and vote their future leaders wisely.

You are correct we cannot continue to think that taking lives is the answer. Voting is a good exercise of one's freedom, if you are supporting someone politically and you know in your heart of hearts that the said person can and will help us towards a better future then make sure to vote and also educate others and give them all your information and state your facts peacefully.

I don't think it's a good solution. I can only see it as being unfair since for sure those who are rich will only get through this punishment and worst thing, poor people will suffer from this punishment especially to those who are innocent and being convicted.

My Country is a hot a mess. It has runaway corruption. Most of the time I don't normally agree with capital punishment but in this case it is absolutely necessary. How the hell do you steal money from the sick and the poor ? And you are comfortably showing off that money and bragging about how you are rich. You live in the nicest houses and drive the fastest most luxurious cars. You take your kids to the nicest schools while the rest of the citizens wallow in poverty. You should be hanged!

I think corruption is something that can't be cured that easily since greed is in the hearts of most men already. Justice system doesn't work that easily as well specially on someone who has money and power. This is one of the things that makes it unfair. Even if there is such a law, I don't think that it will actually be implemented. Worth a shot though but I don't know I'm a bit skeptic about this since I don't really trust in the justice system that much.

I know some people don't understand the point of capital punishment. But making waste of money of other people. And then manipulating them.I think on that note i'd say they are already destroying a lot of things. Hopefully that people change.

I may be in hot water if I would say that misappropriation of funds is common in our government but maybe I can say that corruption is prevalent particularly with the budget for public works. But I suppose it is not a reason to impose a harsh punishment for the public official. Maybe a lifetime of jail sentence will do because the shame will be too much of a punishment already.

I still would disagree even if it is the most heaviest crime in the world. Everyone should be given a chance to change and I believe there is no one that is pure evil. In any case, everyone would still die so why not let them suffer, by natural death, in afterlife. It is really wrong to judge someone and put the justice on your hands if you yourself is not also perfect. I believe no one has the right to take anyone's life no matter if it is blessed by law, culture or tradition.

Capital Punishment is right for public office holders that misappropriate funds: I agree on making a funishment to be fair, not because your an official you should have a special treatment in terms commiting a mistake it should be punish same as how they punish those murderer, thief, drug pusher and the likes because they are all the same they commit a mistake in the same main reason which the money. They become blind because of money. But I can say that some of the people to robbery because of the living status they are facing which is no food to eat, need a money for medication and the likes. They didn't given an advice that will teach and help them on how to solve the problem they are facing.

I don't believe capital punishment is the way to go. I believe a life of confinement is worse than death for many people and giving them the capital punishment to me, is a way out. Let them live to see the disgrace they have put their families through. Let them be contained like animals, denied dignity and privacy and denied all the comfort they are accustomed to and let their families be stripped of everything they own. To me, that is appropriate punishment

No. I believe that under no circumstance does capital punishment work, and there is absolutely no argument that would ever convince me otherwise. First off, it doesn’t work as a deterrent. Capital punishment has been around since the dawn of man, and yet criminals like murderers and thieves are still around. Clearly, capital punishment isn't what’s going to stop these people. Secondly, capital punishment has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent people. How many cases have occurred where a person was put to death, only for detectives to later say, “oops, we got it wrong”? Humans have no right to pass life or death judgment under any circumstance.
