Cats intelligence

Cats intelligence
Cats are known worldwide around the globe and also known as a Domesticated animal which is furry and loveable well most animals are loveable. Cats are most common and go back 9,500 years since ancient Egypt.

There are many different types of cats around the world from the Wildcats to even the common house cat we call (pets). Cats are furry and have sharp teeth to easy catch there pray also with there sharp claws. So do Cats have a great intelligence are they smart?

Cats actually have 300 million neurons which are 140 more than a dog, dogs have 160 neurons. As well as this as an amazing fact, Cats also do have a lot more nerve cells which are in forms of there visual areas located in their brain. Which has more than any other animal and humans.

Cat's are very smart, you can't even go online these days without seeing funny cat videos such as cat's opening doors to be sneaky. In my opinion, cats can do a lot and they can understand humans, they can also go out at night and them come back the next day they do not need to be kept in at night.

Are cats smart enough to find their way home?

Cat's are very smart when it comes to finding there way around. When a cat either goes missing or trying to find there way back home they tend to use the magnetic fields. There are many stories of lost cats which have survived months and travelling over 200 miles and finding there way back. Cat's can find there way home easily, and not just with the magnetic field, but also their scent of smell and other senses.

They can also help us feel good when we feel low, depressed and tend to come close to use when we feel like this to try either cheer us up. They have some form of healing capabilities for our emotional needs they do care for us as we care for them.

Can go out at night and whenever they want Cats are low maintenance Smart and very intelligent

Can easily get fleas there poop or vomit

I think cats are a lot more cunning and independent so I'd have to give the point to them. They also are smart in the way that they don't have to do much to gain affection and survive that way while dogs need to work hard and get trained to get their daily meals. Cats mostly just have to lay there and look cute and they get to sleep all day, while dogs have to serve their owner in many different ways.

Cats are awesome!

Cats are easy to maintain and are far cuter than dogs. Dogs tend to make a mess everywhere they go. Licking everyone with their tongue and pissing wherever they feel like it. Cats on the other hand always prefer to litter in the appropriate spots exclusively made for them. This alone is enough justification for Cats being far more clean and intelligent.

It has to be cats

It's difficult to compare because they are so different. I have owned both cats and dogs over the years and in terms of loyalty the dogs win hands down but in terms of intelligence a cat seems far superior.

A cat would find it much easier to fend for itself should it be abandoned whereas many dogs find it hard to survive without an owner and often come to harm because they are too trusting of humans. A cat will take a long time to trust as it seems to understand that not all humans are good people.

One of the arguments that people give for a dog is training. It is true that dogs are easier to train than cats but only because they want to please their owner. A cat only does what it wants to do and probably sees training as pointless unless it will benefit him in some way.

Cats are genius

I have a female spayed cat who is smarter than anyone in my family. She is able to look at each member facial expression, to know whether you are friendly or not. Most cats just curl around your feet and purr. SHe doesn't. She doesn't jump onto your lap either. She always spy around before she leap in. She knows what is OUT means, out of the house.

Cats are way SMARTER than dogs!

Cats are by far the more intelligent. Dogs, on the other hands, are the most loyal.

I base my theory on a movie I watched. Gladiator (2000) starring Russell Crowe.

If you saw the movie you might recall the beginning scene where Russell Crowe told his men “On my signal … unleash HELL!” In the fight scenes on the battlefield, Russell Crowe aka Maximus took his dog along with him.

Yeah. Uh huh. I can read the mind of a cat. If the cat could talk to his or her owner, the cat would be like: 'You're going where? To the battlefield? Uuuhhh yeah … I'll wait here for you to come back home!'

You'll never see a cat on the battlefield. LOL.

I think you are right about cats. I have raised cats and dogs. Based on my experience and observation, I find cats a way smarter than dogs. Some time back I saw a photo on facebook with cats and dogs. The caption under the photo of dog said: you feed me, you take care of me, you must be god. The caption under the cat read, you feed me you take care of me, I must be god.

More wise

Having owned both cats and dogs, I can only say that the smartness of both pets is dependent on how you train them. Dogs are naturally regarded as man's best friend but it's how you train them and take care of them that they are going to be very useful to you. But cats are naturally intelligent even without receiving any special training. So, I would say that cats are more intelligent than dogs.
Posted by Martinsx on 08-01-2018
That’s a really good point about the training an animal may receive. I initially answered dogs, and my dog is very intelligent (maybe I’m biased!) but I guess we did invest a lot of time in training him.

I think dogs are more intelligent than cats because they are easily trainable although I think cats are more intuitive than dogs. I'm a dog person and I train my dogs to follow different commands unlike cats well I tried training one and it bit me.
Posted by Kakashi2020 on 08-02-2018

I Prefer Peaceful Environment

Both pets/animals are intelligent in their own way and I have owned both. Dogs are much more trainable and loyal but they're very impulsive unlike cats who are calm. Cats don't bark at strangers and so you don't need to call them out unlike dogs where you really have to shout sometimes because they're very impatient and so I prefer cats. However, even if cats are very chill pets they are also always curious and their curiosity sometimes bring trouble but it's okay for me.
Posted by jaybee19 on 09-09-2018

Cats.. no doubt

I owned a cat and it was so intelligent that it literally recognized our voices from 2 blocks away, that was how intelligent our cat was. Another proof is that whenever we try to lock it in out home he always finds a way to some how escape. And lastly let me remind you that cats are still hunters so it means they are strategists as well so yeah cats rule !

Cats are my life

I had a cat before named Chuckie. He was with me for 8 years and we spent so many times together. I saw how smart he is, how he goes out on night nd return in the morning. When I call his name, he always meows. Also, he got used to us that whenever we tease him or play with him, he doesn't get grumpy that much. He knows if a certain plastic has a food inside. Too bad he died a few weeks ago and I'm still moving on from.his death. He became my bestfriend because he always lay beside me whenever I am sad, he makes me feel everything is gonna be alright. I miss him :(
Posted by ajahcuizon on 08-20-2018
Oooh that so saddening. Your story was quite sweet at the beginning but sad to hear about his tragic death. Its the good things which do not last sadly.

Sharp Claws

Cats also have sharp claws they use to hunt their prey. They hide them very neatly that you won't notice them. They also have soft padded pals hat they use to comfortably walk without arousing the suspicion of its prey.

There heads are also smaller than their bodies. Where their heads can pass through their bodies too can pass. Their whiskers help them for sensitivity.

Posted by stbrians on 08-15-2018
You have reminded me of a quote that we had as children in our area "never anger the cat because it can cause irreparable injuries" Those claws are sharp and if used on you then it can be critical.

I'm the Boss

I both have a dog and cat. I believed that my cat is more intelligent than my dog. I did not taught my cat where to poop but she will always go outside to poop. While in my dog I tried training him to poop outside but after many tries I give up. He still didn't get it until now. My cat knows when I'm messing with her. She knows that I'm the one moving her toy. My cat is very superior and it does not feel like I'm taking care a pet. I conclude through my observation to them that cats are more cleaner and intelligent.
Posted by Zelmontero on 08-21-2018
I also have an experience with livibg with the two animals. Cats are more likely to have a higher intelligence as their behavior is smarter.

Cat is definitely the winner

Cat is definitely much more intelligent than dogs. Cat is also the best pet one can have. I like dogs too but I will always prefer a cat over a dog.

Cat is much more good looking than most of the dogs. We don't have to take a lot of care when it comes to cats. It's much more self reliant than dogs. If we give proper potty training to cats then they will rarely be a trouble for you. Dogs can become overly aggressive sometimes and can bite you or any of your visitors. Cat rarely bites anyone even if it gets aggressive sometimes. It doesn't take much of your space. I think Cats are the best pets and definitely are the winners.

Posted by jpk0007 on 10-10-2018

Cats atleast know personal hygene

Cats intinctively know "not to poop where it eats". a lot of cats actually kill mice and takes them out in the open, if not out of the house for it's owners to see and clean. It is picky with its food. and what more, it spends time licking itself clean. While dogs, well they usually do not.

In addition, cats are sensitive and tactful. When they don't like a person they usually just won't come near. On the other hand when dogs don't like you they would just bark and worst bite you.

Posted by emiaj55 on 10-15-2018

Creepy intelligence

I am a dog person to the bone (pardon the pun). But intelligence-wise, cats are up there with the monkey and dolphin. They are just too laid back to showcase that intelligence to the human race. Dogs are filthy animals compared to the instincutal hygiene of their feline rivals. There is no other animal that can stare at you and penetrate right through your soul. I remember reading somewhere that dogs adore humans, but cats look down on them. That's a perfect description.

Dogs intelligence

Dogs intelligence
Mens best friend, common household pet, Dogs which are a fine breed and very popular we use them daily. We can see them in movies and rescue stories and also the most recent common use and very smart indeed is blind dogs.

In the UK blind dogs are very popular and are very smart. Blind dogs help and guide the blind helping them get through the day whether it is helping them when they are out and helping their owners crossroads to more. They are very smart at helping the blind and there is much advertising televised showing this with there intelligence.

They do also help the police with helping find clues or missing people to even catching crooks or finding drugs. Police dogs are very common and they help the police daily to catch drug dealers and so much more. There are many police programs on television and every time I see them there is somewhat most of the time police dogs shown. They are very loved and very smart...

Research shows the smartest dogs are a Border collie, Poodle, German shepherd but this is just a few on the list which they are many more. There are many uses for dogs which the most ideal one is as a pet. We all love pets from cats to dogs which are the most popular household pets.

Dog's come in many breeds but the love we have for them is unique. They know this as they have feelings to as well as cats. Dogs is mans best friend? But why do we call dogs mans best friend?

Calling dogs mans best friend is a common phrase we tend to use. The phrase was made by Frederick the Great of Prussia. This means with the working on the relationship and compassion with man and dog. Which is very common some people also class their dog as a family member, the love we have for our pets as I have seen many treating them like a human being. But just because they're an animal does not mean they feel any less in emotions they do have a heart as well and living and breathing.

Great if you live alone for the company very smart use for the blind Police training

They require training cost more money

I think it's pretty obvious that dogs are clearly the more intelligent pets out there. Of course, that doesn't mean that cats aren't intelligent pets. It's just that dogs show off their intelligence a lot more whereas cats prefer to just sit and be lazy all day lol.
Posted by kingcool52 on 08-09-2018

I love both but...

I'd have to go with dogs. I think dogs are more attached to humans and strive to keep up with what we are doing as compared to cats. Cats are also very intelligent and cunning in their own way. However, I think dogs have the capacity to be more disciplined, therefore they are much easier to train than cats. Because of this discipline, I would have to choose dogs over cats.

But again, I love both.

Posted by limberg on 10-09-2018

When it comes to empathy. You can see the dogs are lot better. And they tend to be more protective. And for the same reason you can see that dogs are generally better companion for the old age too. I'd definitely go for the dog.
Posted by overcast on 08-03-2018
Cats also have an empathy. They can be sympathetic and they have this thing where they tend to read moods in a manner similar to no other animal. When you are happy they know too.

There are a couple of types of smart. It's really hard to consider, which animal is more intelligent than the other. There are also different breeds of dogs and cats that have different atributes. In general cats are sly, but on the other hand dogs always know what their master wants, so that proves how smart they are.
Posted by manmad on 09-27-2018

My pet.

While it is a difficult choice to pick between the intelligence of cat and dog, I must say that having a dog is a better choice to me. There are a whole lot of benefits that you are going to get as a dog will more lively in the home instead of having a cat.
Posted by Barida on 08-01-2018
I can relate with what you are saying. If you are an outdoors person that is. A dog is the best pet to interact with on the outdoors. It can be a great friend to both play with as well as go hiking, hunting and many other activities.

Man's Bestfriend

The dogs are more helpful than cats. Lot of things they do are every helpful to us rather than cat's tricks.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 08-03-2018
The one area I can say dogs are ultimately helpful is the outdoors. During outdoor activities I think dogs make the best companions eg during hiking or picnicing.

I don't have any back up studies with me on their intelligence, but we can clearly see how smart they are. Dogs can be easily trained that's why there are some police dogs. In fact, one of their senses are very useful which is their sense of smell, right. Also, one thing that I very much like to dogs is their emotional attachment to humans especially to their owners. Dogs are absolutely adorable when they are expressing their love to humans. I also like cats but I think dogs are smarter than them.
Posted by mitan143 on 09-09-2018

I am a dog person that is why I prefer dogs over cats. They are called man's best friend for a reason. They are the most loyal creatures and they are able to empathize with humans. They can feel if something is wrong with their human and they try to make humans feel they care.
Posted by EfficientNinja on 09-03-2018

There's a reason why they're called man's best fri

I think dogs are much more emotionally intelligent and are able to empathize with humans much more. You're also able to teach them more than you can teach any cats I've met - in my opinion, anyway!
Posted by amelia88 on 08-01-2018

Dogs are more intelligent than cats because you cant teach cat and they can not follow you.
Posted by mark86 on 08-04-2018

I am not a dog lover but I strongly believe in a dog's intelligence. Cats are just playful and very fun to be with. But dogs are more capable of understanding things. They say that a dog's abilities are very close to human. They are more affectionate, loving, and caring.
Dogs have the ability to learn and follow instructions. On the other hand, cats can be trained too but their patience and potential to learn are not great as dogs. Cats tend to easily give up and just play around while dogs are persistent and very cooperative.

Posted by superlicca on 08-10-2018

Doggies for Life!

In all my years of watching the Television, I have seen so many dog that can do tricks and are so well trained, but never have I ever seen a cat do tricks and are well trained. Tell me, are there feline units on the police. Are there bomb sniffing cats out there? NOPE! because dogs are smarter and easier to train.
Posted by neillios on 08-05-2018

I love cats better but...

Both animals are intelligent. It's just that disregarding any scientific studies when comparing the intelligence of the two animals, the cat and the dog, showing affection and loyalty in a direct matter is actually wise and by this dogs are way better doers.
Posted by Donyababoy on 08-23-2018

Longer process of domestication

Canines were domesticated by humans long before cats and, therfore, were the subjects of selective breeding for a longer time. The influence of it is not limited to their looks, but also to their intelligence, as partaking in a hunt alongside the humans required some training. Cats, on the other hand, were domesticated later and could do their original task (protection of seeds and beans from rodents) without close interaction with humans, and remained on the original level of intelligence.
Posted by HurricaneLily on 08-10-2018

Emotional Intelligence - Dogs win

All pets can be trained to understand commands. But the one differentiating factor between cats and dogs is that, dogs feel empathy. Dogs convey emotion. Dogs give loyalty. Cats don't.
Posted by rlpzbeermoney on 09-18-2018

Obedient and trainable

Cats are also intellectual but dogs are trainable. Unkike kids that seems that it don't really care.
Posted by anchoreztin on 09-05-2018
Great explanation about intellectual and trainable. Never see that coming. You are right and I agree with you.

Easy to train

I have more than 8 dogs and 1 cat. For me, the easier to train are the dogs because they have a brain like those of the two-year-olds. I talked to them always and as time goes by, they understand what I mean. I constantly train them every day and teach them things and they easily pick that up. My cat, on the other hand, I train him always and I gave him treats for him to remember but he can only pick up very little and sometimes he forgets it. I love my cat but the more intelligent for me are dogs.
Posted by Therese16 on 09-04-2018

Man's Best Friend

Dogs learn faster than cats. I have a pet dog and cat. They don't fight they just don't mind each other. I train my dog to go out because sometimes he is naughty so every time I say out the dog goes out. While my cat always likes eating. She gets hungry every time. When I already feed it, it wants more. I tried to stop my cat but she doesn't even listen. So... Dog is the smartest.
Posted by DRN23 on 08-30-2018

Sorry cats but I choose dogs.

I tried both dogs and cats as a pet. Cats are sweet but they're sometimes unpredictable and mostly silent. I experienced when it just jump off in front of me and they have claws. Dogs in the other hand, they do have claws but not that sharp compared to a cat. They're also very friendly and playful. I love them both but if I have to choose, I'll choose dogs.
Posted by kinja90 on 09-06-2018

Mans bestfriend!

Sometimes intelligence must not be the only aspect that we are looking for, we shall also consider the loyalty and wiseness of a dog. Man and dog are a good couple because your dog will also cherish you at all times. When you are lonely your dog will make a way to keep you smile because they fill it when you are sad and your dog pet don't want that scenery.
Posted by Gilgamesh on 09-14-2018
I agree with you. Dogs are even more loyal than the humans themselves. I hope that everyone will learn how to cherish the dogs as they cherish the lives of humans as well. In our country, it really angers me that people who are far from cities, kill dogs and cook them for appetizers taken with alcohol.

althought cats are mesmerizing. Dogs has traits that makes it a much better companion for humans.
Posted by bee.rthooyah on 09-19-2018

I own cats and let me tell you - they are the most stubborn pets ever. The only thing great about them is they do clean themselves and very hygienic when it comes to their waste. Other than that, it's impossible to train them. So my vote goes for dogs.

PS: Both of them are great pets

Posted by NerdIndeed on 10-03-2018

I think there should be no debate about this. Dogs' intelligence is superior than cats. Though it requires training and sometimes, it could be costly, it is already a different issue. We have guard dogs, herding dogs, military dogs, service dogs and even dogs that serve people at a restaurant in Korea. Look how smart they are and of course, they are close to my heart, so there is a big bias here.
Posted by theresajane on 10-10-2018

I am both a cat lover and a dog lover, I own both and for me I think dogs are more intelligent than cats because it is easier to train them, than to train a cat.
Posted by nrnlss on 11-07-2018

Dogs are loyal

While i feel cats may be more intelligent over all, dogs can actually be trained to use their intelligence while cats are just jerks that don’t like to listen.
Posted by Jstreeter26 on 11-03-2018

Easy to train

Dogs are generally easy to train. Even a Shih Tzu can be trained to learn simple commands. We have a dog which we taught it and it did take longer to train our dog than any other dog breeds. It just proves that even playdogs can be taught basic commands.
Posted by hstinscdln on 11-09-2018

Dogs are the best

I love both cats and dogs, but dogs are undeniably better especially when it comes to intelligence. Have you ever seen a cat perform tricks like dogs do? Apart from that though, both cats and dogs are good companions. It's just that dogs are generally more energetic and enthusiastic while cats tend to be quiet and solitary - hence, they suit different kinds of people.
Posted by astraherondale on 11-05-2018

I vote for dogs intelligence. Our dog in the house can also catch rats. I love our dog.
Posted by menchuuy58 on 11-11-2018

Honestly, every dog I've ever owned has been exceptional at responding and reading my and my family's emotions. Their attention to their owners is what makes them fantastic pets, and also makes them quite easy to train with minimal effort compared to cats.
Posted by slugsinthai on 11-08-2018

As much as I love my cat, I'll have to go with dogs. There's just so many things that makes having a dog around so different than having a cat. Cats have way too much personality. Yeah there are times when they can be sweet but they're also very unpredictable unlike dogs who are always so loving and gentle. Dogs really do become your best friend, cats on the other hand become your master. LOL!
Posted by knnon on 12-07-2018

Dogs! No doubts!

First of all, I don't like cats. They have this "bossy" attitude. They are like saying to you, "you have to feed me". I don't understand but I have that feeling with cats. And besides, i don't like the smell of their stool. I can't stand the smell. I like dogs better because they are smart animals. I feel more connected to them and I find them cute. They are so playful and they are really sweet and dependent to you as their owner.
Posted by jessie271 on 12-14-2018

Man's best friend

I love both of these animals they are great and loving and super intelligent. This is a hard decision to make they are smart and intelligent in their own respective right.

But if I would choose between this two pets my vote will go with dogs. Dogs are more intelligent than cats in my own opinion because they are easier to teach than cats.

Posted by antonToledo on 12-16-2018

Dogs are far more intelligent than cats, not to mention useful. We can train dogs to do what we want them to do whereas cats tend to do everything of their own will. Dogs are very helpful since they help warn the owners of robbers, and some can even sniff out bombs. These points prove that dogs are more intelligent than cats.
Posted by Klint on 12-17-2018

Don't you find cats a bit scary? There is a tribe in my Country that believe that the are evil. I agree I don't like how they look at you. Have you ever seen a cat and tried to run away from it? You should try it, I promise you it will run after you. Isn't that a bit scary. It will react to you, how you react to it. If you stand and chase it without fear it will run away. That's why I like dogs. You always know where you stand with them. They either love you or hate you. They are very simple, so long as you feed them, you will be friends for life. They also become your protector in case of anything.
Posted by jaymish on 08-01-2018
It's really true what you just mentioned about cats looking scarey especially when you bump into them at night by accident. The way their eyes glow would scare anyone if you are not used to it. I have come across some cultures where cats are linked to witchcraft and vodoo but it's not a generally accepted theory. Cats are good as well in my ways, if you have a rat problem at home, cats will get that problem solved for in just one night.
Posted by Martinsx on 08-01-2018
Me too. I find cats a bit scary. There eyes maybe make them a bit scary for me. In my country old people used to say that there are ghost/evil spirit (aswang or tiktik in our country) that eats babies, and that evil spirit can transform into cats. That is also one factor for me that made me a little bit scared of cats.
Posted by lei08pineda on 08-02-2018
In our culture, black cats are believed to be an animal form of a witch. It is also believed that when a cat crosses your path, something bad will happen to you later in the day. Dogs are considered pets of certain deities as well as the animal forms of dead ancestors. However, these are just superstitions.
Posted by vinaya on 08-02-2018
This is the first time that I’ve heard of a culture that considers cats as evil. Maybe this is the influence of the so called black cat that brings bad luck. That superstition is still alive in our culture until now although it is not popular anymore with the young ones who are more on the digital world than in the old world. I have to agree that seeing a black cat at night is a scary experience.
Posted by Corzhens on 12-12-2018
I love both cats and dogs. They are both adorable pets to keep especially when you are good with taking care of pets, they are going to bring joy, happiness and company in your life. Both of them are intelligent depending on how you have them trained. But it seems that cats are more intelligent.
Posted by Martinsx on 08-01-2018
I love cats and dogs as pets. In fact, currently, I have a dog as well as cat in my house. My dog and cat are not on good terms, however, these animals love us. Based on my observation I think dogs are more intelligent. They understand verbal communication easily.
Posted by vinaya on 08-02-2018
Cats seem to be more intelligent by nature. Even the untrained kind that may live in the wild do not just poop anywhere and when they do they bury their droppings. This makes tgem swifter in training and they tend to pick up behaviors pretty quick. Dogs however are always the better pets according to my opinion. When they have been trained perfectly they can be fun and also useful in many outdoor activities. I would choose a dog anyday as a pet cats tend to horrify me as they can be up inall places and it is harder to control them.
Posted by Martin on 08-01-2018
Exactly! You know well enough about cats and how intelligent they can be. Someone mentioned about cats dropping poop around and I was like that the person doesn't know anything about cats. Even when they are not trained, cats observe good hygiene as they don't poop where people see them. They most likely dug up the ground and poop inside and bury it. That is a high level of intelligence in my opinion. My grandmother's cat have killed 3 snakes in the house but if it were a dog, it would only keep barking and the snake will get away.
Posted by Martinsx on 08-02-2018
It is said that cats and dogs evolved at the same time, about 4.5 million years ago, however, the dogs have forgotten their true nature whereas cats still have their original nature. Dogs can be easily enslaved, however, cats are wild by nature. The incident you have mentioned is not linked with intelligence but with the cat's hunting nature.
Posted by vinaya on 08-02-2018
i will always sip port the intelligence of a dog because it more useful to humans than the cats. For me though I always see cats as being more crafty than being intelligent. The intelligent one has always been the dog, it can secure an environment and csn be used as a detective and a trainer. Dogs are more sophisticated and intelligent than the cats.
Posted by lovely on 08-01-2018
It's true what you just mentioned about dogs acting as a protective animal against thieves. When you train your dog well, it can do those jobs well. It can alert you to any impending danger or intruder, so that you can take notice. Some dogs can kill an intruder. Dogs like pitbull can kill.
Posted by Martinsx on 08-02-2018
Well stated, it baffles me a lot to see the steps dogs take without be guided to protect the owners, they do it so well especially the trained ones and it looks like they are naturally intelligent.
Posted by lovely on 08-02-2018
You can train a dog to do what ever you want him to do does not prove that dogs are more intelligent. In a circus, they train a monkey to ride a bike, or a tiger to jump a fire ring. Such feats are achieved through classical conditioning, it has nothing to do with intelligence.
Posted by vinaya on 08-17-2018
I think so too. Dogs are more useful for us. They are our protector. There are also dogs that guides blind people. Dogs also helps the police. That is just so amazing how they love their owners.
Posted by lei08pineda on 08-02-2018
That shows that dogs are more intellectual than cats. You can't make your cats walk the blind for you or something help you defend in something that are harmful to you. There are so much things to offer a dog can give us.

That is absolutely true. Dogs are more beneficial to humans than cats. Cats are less loyal to their masters unlike dogs. Dogs will never leave its master no matter what happens and that is one of the best traits a dog can have. They will stay beside you even in time indefinite.
Posted by NesMarcos on 09-23-2018
I live on a farm and I find cat as much useful as dogs. Dogs protect from thieves and make us aware of strangers approaching. However, cats also kill rodents. Rodents can be a great problem if you are living in the countryside.
Posted by vinaya on 08-02-2018
But if we are to go by the usefulness of each creature you know that dogs are more useful and more valuable and I think that's what the original post is trying to project.Dogs are more sophisticated if we are to compared them with cats.If we were to take statistics we realise that numbers of dog owners will out weigh cat owners.
Posted by lovely on 08-03-2018
I live in a farm and cats are also very useful for me because they chase away or hunt rodents. Rodents cause a lot of problems in a house, especially in the storeroom or granary. Cats are more like a house animal, because it protects from the rodents inside the house. However, dogs keep away thieves and burglars.

Dogs are more attached to their masters unlike cats. They are more emotional and passionate pets. They are also considered man's best friend because they know how to take care of their masters. There are some videos on social media platforms showing dogs babysitting. They are good body guards, I can say. Meanwhile, cats are less loyal to their masters. If a master couldn't feed his pet, the cat will leave and abandon him. This is totally opposite with dogs. Nevertheless, I believe both of them are smart and intelligent. It just depends on how you treat and train them.
Posted by NesMarcos on 08-02-2018
I agree with your points. I have been raising dogs since 15 years and none of the dogs have run away from my house. I have raised cats since 20 years and cats have run away from my house many times. cats can never be as much loyal as dogs. You can trust a dog, but you can never trust a cat. You can train a dog but it is difficult to tame cats.
Posted by vinaya on 08-02-2018
I would have to agree with you. Cats are not as loyal as dogs. If I would choose whether cats or dogs to be pets, I would definitely choose dogs because their are more trusty, worthy in a sense that they will stay beside you through thick and thin, they are more caring and most especially dogs are more lovable and trainable than cats.
Posted by NesMarcos on 09-23-2018
I don't really know much about dogs and cats intelligence. But I have seen more dogs that are trained than cats. Dogs are also more faithful to their owners, in my opinion.
Posted by lei08pineda on 08-02-2018
I also think the same way too. Dogs are so sweet and heartwarming. They make you feel like home. It's as if if you belong to their comfort. They are even more loyal to you than those people whom you expected to be.
Posted by theresajane on 11-08-2018
Our family never had a cat as a pet. Yes it can help by catching rats but for me it is just that unlike dogs they are mans best friend. They can teach you whatever you want but it needs more patience during training. I have half husky half chow chow. He was trained to pee in the cr. He is so smart and playable.
Posted by mark86 on 08-04-2018
You are true about dogs being man's best friend. I have raised dogs and cats and I know the difference. Dogs can be very responsive compared to cats, dogs communicate well then the cats. Dogs will always stay by your side.
Posted by vinaya on 08-13-2018
I always see dogs doing tricks with his master. It is a normal way to see that rather a cat doing tricks.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 08-05-2018
Yes, dogs are common pets used in shows. However, I did see one video where trained cats are featured. It was on YouTube and is spearheaded by Japanese trainers.
Posted by NerdIndeed on 10-16-2018
I have found out that cat seems to be good for playing and also for the cute things they do. But in reality the dogs are better companion. And they can make up a lot better things in that case. You can see that dogs intelligence seems to have more based on the family it is being raised in. And the case with the cats is lot different as well. I guess we learn about that from the experience that we have noticed.

I won’t point out any comments in particular, but I honestly can’t believe some of the nonsense some people believe regarding cats. I personally don’t think that dogs are more intelligent than cats. Dogs are simply more obedient, and us arrogant humans go and confuse that with intelligence. We bred dogs for thousands of years so that they’d do as they’re told, but we haven’t done the same with cats. It’s a fact that what we consider to be domesticated cats are actually biologically identical to their brethren in the wild. This is why so many domestic cats simply look and behave like smaller versions of their wild counterparts. On the other hands, the greater chunk of dog breeds look drastically different from wolves and behave differently as well, because dogs have had all the wild bred out of them.

Most of us will vote for dogs because we all know how they are easily trained, how they learn tricks and its true that they are really a man's best friend. But can we really call that intelligence or it's just there nature. For me it's intelligence cause even thought they did not learn it themselves they still manage to learn it with our help off course. But I'm not saying that cat are dumb maybe it's just that dog have a better understanding than them.

I think cats are more intelligent than to dogs. They know how to play tricks but they don't like it, because they are more matured than to dogs. Those funny tricks are just for kids. LOL. Look at curiosity of the cats, they always curious about the new things around them, and somehow they don't need to impress their owners for playing tricks for cat foods. :)

Good observation but not that accurate. You may think that cats are more matured than dogs but it will not confirm that they are wiser. For me cats are more easily to trick or to make them control into your hands. Unlike dogs, they are really smart that they can even notice if they are trick by their master.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 08-26-2018
I think dogs has more emotional instincts than cats. I heard dog has 6 senses and the last sense they have is psychic ability. I don't think they have that kind of ability, it is just that their senses are strong enough to detect things long before we do. Before I am in love with cats and I hate dogs so much because I thought dogs are very stubborn and will bite you suddenly but one thing I realize that I can be so in love with dogs rather than cats because dogs are very sweet and caring. I just realized it when we have little Pony(dog name) in our home.
Posted by nekonieden on 08-06-2018
I would have to agree with you that dogs are very sweet and caring pets than cats. I am basically not a cat lover but I am definitely a dog lover. Dogs are sensitive and intelligent animals. They are attached to their masters even its masters do not the ability to feed them anymore. I love dogs because simply, they are lovable animals and they love their masters so much.
Posted by NesMarcos on 09-23-2018
From what I've read, dogs have about twice the number of neurons in their cerebral cortex than what cats have, which suggests they could be about twice as intelligent. On my perspective, they are both intelligent in their own ways. Maybe it's just that dogs have the ability to understand and share the feelings of other people. Dogs can feel how we feel. Whenever I am sad, I can see how my dog feel sad for me too. When I am happy, I can share my happiness with my dog. I think that is their gift. That's why they are called man's bestfriend.
Posted by Anonymous on 08-07-2018
Dogs are more useful than cats, I mean dogs can guard and protect both man and property right? While cats generally spend their days napping and chasing mice. Besides I like dogs way more than cats.
Posted by Kakashi2020 on 08-07-2018
I'm equally a cat and dog person, and I appreciate their intelligence for what it is and don't prefer one over the other. I have a husky, and he's incredibly intelligent. He's quick to learn commands and understands what he should and shouldn't be doing by the tone of my voice, which really impressed me after I'd gotten him. My cat is intelligent enough to know what she shouldn't be doing, but she knows enough that she can get away with it when I'm not home or around, which it typical in cat nature. I can appreciate their intelligence independent of one another.
Posted by TheArticulate on 08-08-2018
Intelligence is not about the tricks. My dog has some few tricks but I'm not consider this as intelligence, they just doing that for food to get your attention. But I really like the curiosity of the cat, and I think cat can do that also but they don't need it, because cats knows how to get their own food without the owner, and this is much more interesting for me.
Posted by ion on 08-11-2018
I do like your perspective about them. And you're right. Dogs only get motivated to carry out those tricks because of the food. Cats are more interesting since they are indeed more curious about their environment, I am not sure regarding how they process information once they get it though.

I agree that dogs are more intelligent but I love cats and they can learn things too. I can say that cat can be taught and could learn from how you do things everyday. Cats are my favorite pet animal, I like dogs but it would be easier to take care of cats because they are mostly clean all the time. I have read that cats doesn't have any trouble distinguishing between angry and friendly tone of voice than dogs. I have cats that I taught to poop in the bowl and not anywhere in the house. It only just needs time and patience for them to learn as well just show them love and enough care to help them get you what you want them to do.

Personally, I like both, but I love dogs. My family has had dogs since I can remember, we don´t have pedigree ones, but usually dogs that are rescued or adopted. We treat them like another member of the family, they have their own space, and we they even travel with us whenever we have to. They have been great companions, and we hope to keep adopting dogs as long as we can.

Talent shows uses dogs more often than cats. I think dogs are easier to train and more intellectual than cats.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 08-16-2018
People are telling me, well mostly girls that cats are way more intelligent than dogs and I simply don't believe it. They're just biased because a lot of girls like cats. I mean I can't even train a cat to fetch something and even if they run and get whatever I throw cats always run away with it. Unlike dogs who can be trained to follow commands.
Posted by Kakashi2020 on 08-17-2018
Yeah you are right. But in fairness I love cats too more than dogs but I don't see that cats are smarter than dogs. The may be a lot cuter but not smarter.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 08-17-2018
I see that dogs are intelligent but cats are one too . For me maybe the dogs are more expressive , because thats what i noticed from our neighbour but our cat though quiet surprises us sometimes. Maybe it takes more time to train cats unlike dogs who learn easily. Personally i love cats .
Posted by PLScloni on 08-17-2018
I've always known that dogs are more intelligent than cats. They also have great memories. They can be trained to handle sensitive tasks such as sniffing bombs or become a service animal to the blind and to people who need assistance in their day to day living. Dogs learning and doing tricks are not unusual but cats performing tricks like what Catpusic does is a rarity. That doesn't mean that cats are less lovable. I have both cats and dog at home and they are great and loving companions. They are also easy to please. I can't blame some people who choose to live with animals than with humans.
Posted by chatbox on 08-19-2018
We have cats and a dog in our house. I would say both are intelligent but I love a dog more than a cat. Cats are not easy to tame unlike dogs. Cats are independent animals who wants to leave the house whenever they want and then come back. We used to have a black cat who routinely opens my window screen to come in and since he was the offspring of our cat before so I would say that black cat is not bad. Whoever visits our house amazes by our cats intelligence. On the other hand, dogs is lovable because they are happy when you always arrived and they really express their feelings well unlike cats.
Posted by Scarlet on 08-22-2018
Well, I guess dogs are really smarter than cats because their brain is literally bigger than a cat's brain. However, I think what they are capable of doing is something we owners should be able to discover and nourish.
Posted by trixari on 08-24-2018
Dogs are smarter than cat. You can teach the dog easily and they can able to learn faster.
Posted by mark86 on 08-29-2018
I agree with this man. Unlike cats you need more time to teach them to learn a single trick. Dogs are for teaching tricks while cat is not really intended for that.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 08-29-2018
Dogs are able to empathize. The can emotionally attach to human. They have a concern for the people who take care of them. I watch some videos on youtube wherein a dog hugged the girl who was crying. Dogs are also excited when their owners come home. And I don't think cats have these kinds of characteristics.
Posted by superlicca on 08-30-2018
Cats and dogs are both adorable. I've been already bitten with those creatures too. I had been bitten closer to my left wrist pulse by a chow chow while feeding it and thought I was going to get her food. So at the hospital to take my shots, I found out I'm pregnant. But i never been afraid to cats since the day it grabbed me with his four sharp nailed paws and bit me. It felt like its the end of my left leg. Then I found out I'm pregnant again for the second time. My brother told me that the scent of my blood was way more attracting animals when I'm pregnant. So I'm Bella now on Twilight huh? Come on! And he advised me not to get pregnant again or a snake or a human being will bite me this time. Lol silly! Now i have two adorable shih tzu and I vote for dogs.
Posted by romy_ter on 09-08-2018
For me, I would choose cat's intelligence over the cat Because the cat can do a lot of things that dog can't do. Cat's can detect mice that is necessary for our home, They can kill the mice instantly, They can also be on the roof of our house by climbing a tree or using a ladder. But if pet I would choose a dog.
Posted by jayjaydimson on 09-14-2018
I love cats more than I love dogs. But when it comes to intelligence, dogs will win. A dog has the ability to follow your command while a cat will just ignore you when you give instructions. A dog can give you a security too. Living alone with a dog is not as scary as when you live without a dog in your house. A dog is more attentive and can easily sense any background noise.
Posted by superlicca on 09-14-2018
I like cats because they are one of the cleanest animals on earth. I currently own two cats and have never been happier. They kill cockroaches, rats, snake and sometimes snake that infest your home. Unlike dogs, cats wouldn't needed training do these things which I am very thankful. Cats also needed less care. I rarely give them baths because they really hate water. They consume less food. Most importantly of all is they very cuddly.
Posted by Aeolos on 09-19-2018
The smartest dogs correspond to toddlers in mental age. I'm not sure about cats. Anyway, I don't think cats are that far off. Anyone know of more answers to what I'm saying?
Posted by jyy on 09-20-2018
Dog is a mans best friend, so I will go for a dog, and they are even used to help the authorities to detect bombs.
Posted by jayjaydimson on 09-20-2018
They are both intelligent, but I will choose a dog, because you can train your dog to detect a bomb or you can train your dog to do some basic tasks.
Posted by jayjaydimson on 09-24-2018
I don't think that cats are scary. They are lovely and sweet. If you find some cats defensive, they might be scared and experienced being hurt by people physically. Based on my observation, when a cat grew up inside a house and was taken cared of, they tend to be loving and not afraid of people. But for the street cats, they are scared of people and will run right away if you approach them. They think that everyone will hurt them.
Posted by superlicca on 09-26-2018
I am a dog lover so it is expected that I will say it is the dog who is more intelligent. One proof is the number of trained dogs versus the number of trained cats. Have you seen a cat walking with its owner the way dogs do? In the airports what you see are sniffing dogs to check for contrabands in the cargo. There is no cat that can do that.
Posted by Corzhens on 09-29-2018
I and my cat agree that she is vastly superior to an animal that cannot be trusted off a lead. She would like you to know she is clever enough to work out when she needs to go next door for food and convince her friend there she is never fed. This once resulted in friend's husband accusing me of never filling the dinner dish, but it was a lie. I showed him several full bowls she had scorned. Freya, often known in online places as "Freya the Catblog Cat" has worked out how to turn the laptop off in an effort to be sure I fill the dinner dish. I never had a dog that could do that. She also talks to me extremely intelligently, but I am usually too stupid to understand what her "meow" language means. On the other hand, as a child, we had a succession of dogs that could chase a cat and stand looking stupidly at them on the rare occasion they actually caught up.
Posted by HappyLady on 10-04-2018
Well cats can be more intelligent than dogs but they're utterly useless in my book. Unlike dogs which can guard my home and family, cats just do what they want to do. It's also very hard to train cats unlike dogs which has a good amount of loyalty to its owner.
Posted by Kakashi2020 on 10-07-2018
It is a very tough decision for me because I have both cat and dog but I would say that cat are more intelligent because of its independent mindset. they are intended to typically make sense of the answers for their issues without anyone else and are very great at it. Cat are ace of perception and cautious usage pooches are great as well, yet cat are better be that as it may, However Dog's internal inclination to please people is the thing that makes it so obviously astute to us and this normally falls on the engaging side of our brains and we begin to look all starry eyed at them.
Posted by jetselle on 10-10-2018
One of the best thing that our dog really makes me fall in love with them that there's this one time that I'm really so down and our dogs always see me crying even I already hide myself just not not to let them see me but I guess they really know it because they feel it too. They always do strange things just to make me smile or laugh and it really works. they are like humans.
Posted by romy_ter on 10-15-2018
It always amazes me that dogs and cats have this intelligence that keep them alive and the intelligence that keep the humans company. We have to admit that these animals are what keep us entertained when we are lonely or sad. I actually am planning that if I don't marry and have a family in the future, then I would have a dog or a cat by my side to kwep me company when the time comes.

I have to disagree with most people saying cats are 'clearly more intelligent', as if they ignore cats running into walls. Cats seem intelligent, and are great hunters, but I have yet to see cats learn and practice commands as dogs have.
Posted by slugsinthai on 11-08-2018
On the surface, it seems as if cats are more intelligent when it comes to surviving on their own. But I'd trust a dog to rescue a human who was in great peril.

Posted by menchuuy58 on 11-11-2018
I am a favor for dog. I love both of them but for me dog is the most intelligent one. Dogs can learn easily technique if your training them. It was already in the nature of the cats to be indefendent you don't need to train them in term of that but if you try to give them some technique or train them they can't get it and learned in that perion of time like a dog. And in term of emotions dogs can learned how to understand emotions of people.
