Choosing Between Two Unpleasant Evils

Choosing Between Two Unpleasant Evils
As a living human being, we are definitely going to get ill once in awhile and probably take pills or go for proper medical treatment, as that is the reason why we have hospitals, doctors and nurses.

Nobody likes to get ill but you can't really help it when it comes, but if one is giving the opportunity to choose his or her choice of illness once in a while, what would yours be and what sickness would you never wish to have anywhere near you?

Personally I would prefer to suffer malaria fever than experience purging (LOL)

I would not choose to be sick at all. Even if the medicine was worse than the cure, I would pick that if it would help me get better sooner. It is difficult to endure some treatments. I would hate to have almost any illness, but one that would include diahrehea and vomiting would likely be the worst. It would be awful.

I also agree with you! Our health is everything, it is the basis for our existence. So I would never prefer to be sick for anything else either.

I wouldn't have to choose any sickness as a result of the fact that being sick is what I hate so much. As a human being, it is always a possibility for one to get I'll but I won't definitely wish to fall, I'll no matter how minor it will be like.

This is one question that we really cannot answer truthfully. In fact, when that happens, we would be on a crossroad just like being pressed by 2 walls. This kind of dilemma is not common but not rare either for I believe that some people are experiencing this kind of choosing between 2 unpleasant evils that life has offered. And when the comes, I would dread that day and I cannot say what I will choose.

Personally, I would not wish any sickness on anyone. But I think the worst one that I would just no wish on anyone at all would be Ebola. It is just awful. I'm not sure whether they have a cure for it actually which makes it even worse. I'm not even sure how bad it is at the moment and whether or not people in Africa are still suffering from Ebola? It seems to not be a big threat over here in Europe fortunately and hopefully, we can find an effective cure very soon.

Yes sickness nowadays is a 'DebbieDowner times 10!' And with everyone's hectic schedule and zest for life and fulfillment, not to mention independence of not having to rely on anyone for care or be restricted in anyway, aside from over eating(he,he) any other sickness is just unbearable. Speaking of the less of two evils, there's the notion of applying antivirus or antibacterial solutions as in the case with vaccines where a tentative flu shot which contains some instance of the virus to counter the effectiveness of the virus outbreak on the bodily functions is rather like choosing the vaccine in order to prevent further ills from the same sickness.

The illness I would never choose to have is cancer. It is a terrible disease and I have lost many loved ones to it. My hope was never to be sick but I was recently diagnosed with heart disease. I had a heart attack and went through open heart surgery. Everything went well but my life has been changed forever. I will live with heart disease for the rest of my life.

Of course, the obvious answer is neither, but since you asked, I’d choose simple sneezing sort of a thing. Then I would take an anti-allergic pill. Get some sleep and would become healthier again. That's it, no more pain.

Odd question but If I had to choose an illness to have it would be a simple ordinary common cold. One illness I wouldn't wish to have or ever have around me would be the mumps or measles.
Posted by NickJ on 10-25-2017
Yes well, some times there isn't much of a choice to be made and we must endure the consequences of our lifestyle. Still, I would choose a mild cold over other illnesses

What a strange question to ask, but definitely an interesting one. I suppose if I had to choose some sort of illness I would probably go with the flu, at worst, though that's a fairly common one that isn't all that life threatening. If it is an illness that I'm going to die from, I'd want something that takes you out quick like heart disease. The one that I would want least is cancer. I don't want to spend my life bed ridden and suffering from chemotherapy, constantly grasping onto the idea that there might be some chance that I'll survive. It's a miserable way to go and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Just give me something that takes me out quick.

This is the hardest thing that anyone can do when you know that you must take such a decision you may feel stressed and depressed because no matter what you will choose is not that good but is a choice that we must take. Unfortunately, there are some moments like this in everyone's life and we must choose carefully!

This is a really tough question. I have a small kid to take care of so I cannot manage to be sick. If compelled then it can be nothing more than a mild headache or low grade fever.

It is really tough question because nobody prays to get sick, but i will prefer to have sleep sickness a while without spending any money.

I would never wish or choose to be ill with anything, but if I have to decide between two evils I would prefer "the devil you know", so to speak, so I would choose the flu (Influenza). It's relatively common and usually it's easy to treat. On the other hand, I would never want to get sick with something like cancer, ebola or any other disease that is difficult or impossible to cure.

I also have to admit to thinking that this a somewhat strange question to be asking - especially as it is to put it bluntly - one that you generally only expect to be asked - by someone suffering from hypochondria - either way - as I don’t suffer from the latter - I can’t honestly say that there is any form of illness that I would actually ever choose to have.

However as there are plenty that I would much rather not have - I do my best to try and prevent them from occurring in the first place - with healthy lifestyle habits - for example - by eating a well balanced diet - consisting of a wide variety of natural foods rather than processed ones and exercising regularly - as to me - prevention is always the better option when it comes to our health.

I don't want to choose any unpleasant evils. I would not choose any kind of sickness. However, the OP asked a question: chose one evil. In that case, I will choose dementia. If I don't remember anything, there will be no memories inside me, no ideas, no plannings, do dreams. My mind will be virtually blank. When there is nothing on mind, I will be no more sad.

I don't want to be sick and be a burden on other people. For the sake of answering this question I will choose to have the common cold. At least I know that there are antibiotics which I can take and it will only last for some days.

I would have mentioned the illness I wouldn't wish to have but the words we put out here may come back to haunt us. I get flu frequently because of being allergic to cold. Although this might not seem as a life threatening disease, flu or catching a cold is something I will always expect and be prepared for.
Posted by mildredtabitha on 11-02-2017
This question is very weird because I doubt that anybody would ever want to choose in real life but let's pretend that I have a chance. I'd pick a mild, quick, cold. I'd pick that since it isn't deadly and if it's mild, it usually goes by fast. I can't decide what illness I wouldn't want to have because there are way too many nasty ones... anything that's deadly is something that nobody wants.

This is such a negative thread with bad vibes. lol Anyway, I would never want to have cancer in any part of my body because it can kill and make life miserable for me and my family. I've lost family members to cancer and know that it is a devastating disease. I would only want to be affected by slight annoyances like the common cold or the occasional cough, or even the seasonal flu as all they do is force me to take some rest and lie on the bed for a change.

No one chooses to be ill and there are things we can't avoid. For me, having seen several old people lose their mental capacities with dementia, I think that would be the worst when you no longer can think independently or know what you are doing. No pain killers can help, and there is no cure for neurological illnesses. My friend's father died suddenly within 6 weeks of being told he had cancer, so even if there are no symptoms we can never take health for granted.

Very strong question Lol,Well for me I will go with cough because I wouldn't need anything that would land me in any hospital bed,I hate living secluded life where one becomes the object of visit. At least with cough I can go anywhere.
Posted by lovely on 11-06-2017
Well to be quite honest I would rather spend some time in the hospital to put up with some things I have to put up with everyday like People in my job or being out of a job which will happen soon also. Guess I don't care that much about my physical safety
Posted by Marvadaum on 11-08-2017
I have so many aliments if I had to chose one it would be get my eye sight back and keep the rest of my problems. 4 years ago my left eye had a stroke and my vision has suffered horrably ever since then. I have a really hard time seeing small print and stuff far away. Because my right eye was my bad eye and it wasent too good and now its my good eye. So basically my vision is screwed!

This is like the cliché that says you are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. So what is your choice between the 2 evils? When confronted with that situation, my tendency is to assess the options very well. The first factor is the gravity of side effect. Second factor is the long term or short term effect. And third is the psychological effect on me. Of course, we don’t want to be in that position but we cannot help it if fate brings us into that situation that we have to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Posted by Corzhens on 01-10-2018
I think it's kind of complicated if you ask me. Some of the time we can take the side and be with that decisions. Some of the time we can walk away from those decisions. And then there comes the time when we have to struggle with the things. It all depends on how harder things can be. It just is not that easy.

I'm okay with having the flu and that's about it. I actually prefer it sometimes because afterwards I feel a bit more refreshed since I would have been resting for a long time. I also like that I have to take drowse medication since I have trouble sleeping most of the time. I don't think I'd like to have much more than that around me though so as much as I can I would try to stay away from illness.
Posted by Wubwub on 11-08-2018
I'll choose the lesser evil or the easily cured illness. I would really think about it if it's a choice between a heart attack or a stroke, or maybe Aids and Cancer. But if it's just drinking something that can cure your present illness but may hurt you in the future by giving you another illness then I say cure what can be cured now and when the future illness comes then find another cure for it.
