Dangers of eating late at night?
Everyone have a his or her own eating habits. Some people prefer to eat as early as 7:00pm while some people eat late.

One's days schedule makes him or her to eat either early or late. From analysis, it's not safe to eat very late at night because it makes one add too much weight.

What other dangers do you see to be associated with eating late at night?


Other than gaining too much weight, I think that eating late at night can give you nightmares. I experienced this a few times myself. I would eat something late at night, just before I went to sleep. And then, I would have bad dreams. So, people can have problems with their sleep. Also, I read somewhere that your head can hurt in the morning if you ate something just before you went to sleep the previous night.

It's because you are sleeping while you are still full. It takes time to digest food your stomach especially when you plenty of foods. It would be great if you drink tea or you have to sleep after 2 -3 hours enough to digest some inside your stomach.

My grandmother always told me not to eat then lie in bed immediately. She said that its best to have the food digested first before doing so. She didn't back it up with any scientific explanation whatsoever, but since she's my grandmother, I believed her.

I agree. Late night is the time when our body is at minimum metabolism. Our body tend to be weaker in breaking down the foods we eat during late night. It is indeed recommended to eat like a king during breakfast, a prince during lunch and a beggar when it's dinner.

I don't have any problem eating late at night I usually eat twice during the night at 6 pm and 12 pm and I am not gaining any weight at all. I am actually eating 4 to 5 time a day because I want to gain weight. Maybe genetics is the big part of it and also maybe because I am working out 20 mins every single day.

Eating late at night is fine just don't eat too much.

I make sure I finish my dinner before 9pm everyday. There is an inherent danger of indigestion and vomitings if you end up having dinner at midnight when it's the time to have a sound sleep. Always make sure you have early dinner to have a good digestion and have a lot of water.

I agree with you. People must not observe bad lifestyle like eating and then going to sleep immediately. It will definitely affect your health in a negative way.

Hmm, I usually eat late at night but I don't gain any increase to my weight. This is actually my first time to hear that it can actually make you big or heavier but I do hope it can because I am really too skinny and I need some weight.

Eating late at night and then proceeding to sleep is not good for your health. My doctor told me that you need to give your body enough time to digest the food you ate, therefore eating late at night is not advised. This kind of behavior results to dangerous health problems.

Late night eating and sleeping right away can cause acute pancreatitis. The pancreas will have a hard time digesting the food you ate and it can cause death. So i highly suggestbthat after eating if you feel really sleepy try to have a 15 minutes walk or exercise. Probably washing the dishes can delay your sleepiness enough for your digestive system to work.

Yes, it does! Eating late at night causes acute pancreatitis and you add more weight. It is best to eat before 6:00 p.m so that your body will have ample time to digest the food that you ingested.

Late night eating can cause heart burn or acute pancreatitis especially if you want to sleep after. It's better to eat early to give time of the food to fully digest in our stomach.

Yeah I'm glad I don't do that. Even when I'm having my dinner at 12 or 1 am, I still wait for around an hour before going to sleep, I don't care if I'm super sleepy I don't want to go to bed with full stomach, it doesn't feel comfortable.

For me, the biggest danger with eating late dinners is the fact that it will give me intense heartburn. I actually ended up making this mistake yesterday. I was feeling a bit hungry before bed, so I decided to just make myself some spicy instant noodles. I finished my meal, and went to bed about a half-hour later. Well, I ended up waking up in the middle of the night with some of the most intense heartburn of my life. It made getting back to sleep almost impossible. I need to learn to control my appetite before going to bed.

Eating late at night is always associated with weight gain. Even nutrition pioneer Adele Davis gave this advice, "eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper." However, through further study they figured out that a calorie is a calorie regardless of when you eat it. What really causes weight gain is simply eating more calories than you burn.

I think that it is not safe to eat late at night, especially when you are about to sleep. If your stomach is full and you lie down immediately, there is a high risk of appendicitis and such. Sleeping right after eating with full stomach is also associated with death while asleep.

Eating late at night is risky I guess in a way that if a person suddenly falls asleep while they're full. The body slows down during sleep, that includes digesting. I think there's also this thing that happens when a person sleeps when full. It's like the intestines knot on itself. My uncle had that happen to him and his doctor said that sleeping with a full tummy was the cause.

Usually if I eat late at night I find myself struggling with sleep and that’s a difficult thing for me, particularly if I have an early start the following day. It throws my whole schedule out of whack so I try to avoid doing that.

People just tend to eat foods an night that are higher in calories such as chips, chocolate bars, popcorn etc. Rarely do nutritional food come in mind (i.e berries, veggies). You can actually alter your diet so that if you eat low calories during the day. you can consume the rest of your daily calories at night.

Eating late at night is not advisable especially when you are about to sleep. You can probably eat a little snack but not a heavy meal because your body will just have a hard time digesting what you ate. Eating heavy before going to sleep is not a good practice because it will only lead to an unhealthy body. It will also make your metabolism slower and will definitely affect your body weight.

They say you're more likely to have nightmares if you eat late. Not sure it's true, I'm more inclined to think it has negative consequences for the functioning of our organism.
