Do you avoid dry cleaning services to save money

Do you avoid dry cleaning services to save money
It's a common thing and a routine behaviour for most working class people to always take their laundry to dry cleaning services probably because of less time and chance at their disposal to do it themselves.

In truth, if you normally take your clothing to dry cleaners, take a pause and calculate the amount of money that you spend on weekly basis and multiply it by 12 months in a year, you would be surprised the amount of cash being directed to your laundry expenditures.

Personally I do my laundry myself mostly on weekends just to avoid unnecessary spending and save some money.

Yeah, I definitely do my laundry myself since I bought a washing machine for that exact reason. I think the problem with people that are working is that they feel like they don't have the time to wash their clothes when in reality, washing clothes is a very passive activity. You put your clothes in the washing machine and with washing machines today, the human intervention has been decreased to a minimum and then you put it in a dryer. Now for ironing clothes, that is another monster because that is actually very time consuming and I definitely hire outside help.

I don't have any washing machine yet but that doesn't prevent me from doing my laundry myself with my bare hands. I definitely believe that washing machines are pretty good in assisting one with doing his or her laundry without any stress, I would definitely entertain buying one when I can afford it.

Also the tight schedule of most working class people actually leaves them with no option but to use the dry cleaning services, as they wouldn't be afforded the freedom or opportunity to carry out the washing well. They simply cannot combine the washing with work well.

I do go to the dry cleaning every now and then. I don't really have much clothes which need dry cleaning. I only have some coats and dresses which requires dry cleaning but I only wear those very rarely. I don't have much experience in dry cleaning the reason for which I prefer to go to the dry cleaners.

The lesser with ones cloths, the higher the tendency to carry out the washing by yourself as the need for going to dry cleaning services is going to be very low. Since it's a few cloths, one would ask or say why waste money going to dry cleaning services for a few clothes, it's definitely better to carry out the washing by oneself.

I'm cheap. If I can do it myself then I will. Most of my clothes are easy to care for and generally don't need dry cleaning save for super special occasions then I bust out the right stuff. Heavy wool winter coats and whatnot are dry cleaned once a year after the winter/fall season is over and stay in the closet until the next fall/winter. Other than that I don't need to spend money at a dry cleaner's.

I wouldn't call it being cheap but rather being wise and a lot more economical. There is no need in spending money on certainly what you can actually save money on. I definitely think that dry cleaning services is a luxury one can easily forgo and make a decent savings from the budget for such task.

Money is one of the reasons I don't dry clean, but another reason is it's time consuming. I don't live close to the cleaners and I don't have a car. That means that if I want to get my clothes dry-cleaned, I have to bike with my clothes to the cleaners. It's not very convenient to do that...

It's definitely better that you do your clothes washing by yourself because it's not only that dry cleaning services money that you are having to pay but also the transport fare required to get you to the dry cleaners. The extra expense is not wise.

Yes, I think it's a waste of money take my clothes to dry cleaning services. I have a laundry machine at home so, one day of my weekend is my laundry day and I just spend a few hours doing laundry and the rest of the day, I clean the house or I fix anything that it has to be fixed.

I definitely agree with you on this, making use of dry cleaning services is a complete waste of time and money when you can actually do that by yourself without feeling bad or any form of stress at all.

It depends on what items I have been wearing. I'm on my gap year at the moment so I don't really have a need for dry cleaning services as almost all my clothes can just be washed and clean by me using the washing machine. But before we had to wear suits so I would have to use the dry cleaning services as both my suits were dry clean only which meant that we could not clean it at home. I don't mind using them to be honest because they are not that expensive and they ensure that your suits are extremely clean.

Yes of course, you have a good point there @Kingcool52, the nature of one's cloths actually determines if dry cleaners are best suited for the washing or is it best to be washed by the individual himself. There are some clothes that if one dares to wash by himself, might end up ruining the dress already.

Sometimes, I feel we shouldn't be looking at the cost of something but its usefulness and moreover why are so struggling so hard if not to spend.Wel, as they say, different strokes for different folks, I dry-clean my clothes weekends though I try to wash them weekdays.I believe the local dry cleaners will do a better job than me and moreover, what are the experts for.So yes, I know we need to cut cost but somethings need not be cut off like drycleaning one's clothes.

Making use of dry cleaning services once in a while is not actually a bad idea but that becomes bad when one makes it a rampant act of always taking all his dress to dry cleaners. In fact, I practically see it as a lazy people way out of getting things done by oneself.

This is the whole ides,we work so hard and as such we should have some good things as well, dry cleaning clothes doesn't cost that much so if we can afford then it okay after all looking good is good is good business.

Usually, I use dry cleaning services only when I have to clean embroidery clothes or business suits. For normal clothes, I always do the laundry in homes. If I have to clean my business suit, I will have to pay $4. This amount can buy detergent for my one-month laundry. Therefore, I avoid dry cleaning.

Yes, definitely believe that there are some clothes that are best suited for dry cleaning services than being washed personally. Yes, To tell you the truth, there's no available service here in our place. We could only wash our own clothes, as long as we have soup, and special perfumes to the clothes for job uniforms. The other factor why we should wash our own clothes is because we will do a sweat which is also a good thing for our health. I don't discourage people not to take wash services, but the good idea of it is to make sure we have responsibility to take care our own things, if only we are not busy to wash it. No matter what happens it always goes to our own health when we deal to wash our clothes at the same time it helps us to have a cost of money.

Also, another thing will might be helpful when we want to have a nice (clothes) for other day. I think you should schedule a time, in a day to wash your clothes, even in a small amount of it just to minimize to wash it to another day. These are the factors which we consider every day in our lives, so that it will not complicate enough to solve it one day.

There is practically nothing wrong with one having to wash his own laundry. It's even more economical for that individual as long as you map out the right time and day to normally do your laundry. It saves one a great deal of money.

Recently, a friend of mine told me that it cost more than £100 to make use of the dry cleaning services on weekly basis. So therefore, you can imagine the amount of fund being pushed up into expense.

Yes, I avoid dry cleaning services to save money. I don't dry clean anything if I don't have to. I avoid the worst of the worst of garments which is dry clean only. I hate garments like that, and I would never buy them honestly. It is not cost effective. It would not work.

The truth of the matter is that ones job sometimes make you use dry cleaning services once in a while but to make the habit of always using it to do all ones laundry is completely foolish and a senseless thing to do. I seriously wouldn't be encouraging anyone to take such decision as it's not a wise thing to do.

No, I don't. The most of the stuff which I had to dry clean is a coat or some suits. Dry cleaning clothes is a sort of a special event that comes only twice or thrice a year. generally, it happens before the Eid or when I have to attend a party usually a wedding ceremony. So, it's not that of an issue for me.

Well just like I said to @kgrod, I wrote and now I quote, " The truth of the matter is that ones job sometimes make you use dry cleaning services once in a while but to make the habit of always using it to do all ones laundry is completely foolish and a senseless thing to do. I seriously wouldn't be encouraging anyone to take such decision as it's not a wise thing to do".

So therefore, dry cleaning services should only be involved only in specific clothes than to use it for washing all someone's clothes.

To be honest, I think this is a waste of money. I don't use dry clean and I don't have the kind of clothes that require this service. And I can wash my clothes during the weekends at home by myself so I don't think I would ever consider to take them to a dry cleaning.

If there is nothing wrong with ones both hands, I definitely don't see the reason the person should be running off to dry cleaning services to do his or her laundry. I would only agree to using dry cleaning services on cases of no time to do the laundry by oneself as a result of lack of time.

I was under the impression that anyone who owned a washing machine or washer/dryer, did their own clothes. Instead of taking them to a dry cleaner. I normally save the dry cleaner for very delicate pieces that might not respond well to a washing machine based on the fabric or materials. Coats for exmaple. Or for stains that are complicated or difficult to get out through normal methods.

There are some certain clothes that requires special attention when it's been washed, so therefore, there is nothing bad in using the dry cleaning services for such dress but anything else apart from this should be washed by the owner either manually or with a washing machine in my own personal opinion.

Yes, I always try to avoid it because this type of work is usually a bit expensive here in my country. I always organize everything so I don't have to need this kind of service. However, if I have to use it, I use it without problems... But, it would have to be a special occasion.

Just like I mentioned to one of us already here, I said and I quote, "There is practically nothing wrong with one having to wash his own laundry. It's definitely wise to cut such heavy expenses of making use of the dry cleaning services when one can easily do the laundry by oneself. It should be only in the cases of emergencies and special dress that dry cleaning services are to be employed.

I don't need dry cleaning and I never understood how it works, I have been fortunate to always work or go places that does not require grooming, and in the summer, if I'm wearing flip flops I consider myself over dressed.

I don't think that you need to understand how dry cleaning services works before taking your clothes to them. All that required of you is to park up all your dirty laundry and take it straight to them and pay for them to be washed and dry cleaned for you.

Yes I have avoided the dry cleaning service as much as possible. The reason being the amount of time it takes for the clothing to get back normal. It is not something I'd see for the wastage. because they often take more time. And it can be boring too. Though laundry machines are better in this case. You can see that way people can be working on this type of service you have to see time and value there.

If I could afford washing machine, I would definitely prefer to invest in it that waste huge sum of money on dry cleaning services on weekly basis. It's not a wise economic decision for one to be spending more than $100 just on cloth washing on weekly basis in the name of using dry cleaning services.

I don't even use the dry cleaning services at all, not for the purpose of saving money but for the fact that they don't do the job to my satisfaction. They only make use of washing machines which are not capable of doing the washing without reducing the quality of the dresses. So, I try doing the washing myself using both my hands and the machine together at the same time and can compare and contrast between doing it that way and just handing it over to the dry cleaners.

I totally agree with you on this, I had one experience with one dry cleaner. It was with my Italian suit and the inner white shirt. When I came for the collection of my dress, I noticed that the white wasn't that neat, I had to complain and they took it to rewash it and after one week or so, I came back and it was still the same thing.

I had to practically take the cloth that way and use my hand to wash it, in which I did a far more better job than the useless dry cleaners.

for me as a busy working man i go to dry cleaning services. it lessen my hassle to think about that i need to wash my clothes but for undies me my self is the one who wash it. i know it is kinda expensive to always go to dry cleaning services but thanks to my job that it pays well that i can cover all the expenses i made. and also i have a favorite laundry shop where in they know my standards on cleaning my clothes.

I'm quite aware that working class people actually don't have to do their laundry by themselves. It's really hard to combine both the job and doing the laundry, especially Bankers, they are too taken with their jobs that they don't normally have time to do anything else but just their job.

Oh yes, I do avoid to take my clothes to laundry because here is very expensive, for a jacket at a laundry I must pay over 30 dollars, my wife cleans our clothes with less than 10 dollars. It is true that a laundry firm has more costs as their employees and chemicals they use there but I do think that their prices are too high!

It's definitely quite expensive using a dry cleaning services to do ones laundry. I have a friend who is in Europe, he told me that using the dry cleaning services would cost one cheapest £100 on weekly basis.

I seriously cannot bring myself to spend that amount of money on cloth washing when nothing is wrong with my both hands.

It's not convenient to dry clean clothes because it's expensive. Working people has no choice but to do dry cleaning since they want to relax after working but those who value saving money do their own laundry to save money.

Yes. Since we don't have time to clean our own clothes, we hire someone to laundry it for us and pay her for a certain amount. It's much cheaper than having your clothes dry clean in a laundry shop. We just let it dry under the sun. You're also helping others by giving them a job for them to earn some and to feed their family, that's why we don't buy a certain washing machine that'll do all the cleaning and drying, easily.

What a coincidence. I just went to the laundromat yesterday to have the drapes and blankets cleaned. We only wash our clothes at home but for big items such as curtains, I always bring them to the laundromat. It is more expensive but it is worth it because it is difficult to wash such big items. Besides, the dry cleaner has a way of minimizing the wear and tear so the blankets and curtains have a longer life. But I bring such items to the dry cleaning shop only once in a blue moon.

Yes, so that I can save money. I'm not against dry cleaner shops because they can be helpful sometimes in our worst situation like you need it but you can't wash it on your own because you have another more important things to do that you need to prioritize.

I almost never use dry cleaning services. It is simply too expensive and seems like a big waste. I prefer doing laundry myself because it feels natural and not that hard at all.

The only clothes that I do take to the dry cleaning is suits or dresses that are very delicate to wash yourself.

Depending on the nature of the cloth which I need to wash would determine if I'm taking it to dry cleaning services to wash but if it's one that I can easily wash without putting the dress to damage, I would gladly wash it by myself in order to save some money off it.
