Do you believe in coincidence?

Do you believe in coincidence?
There are people who call it superstition while others fully believe when it comes to "coincidence". But the truth is that there is no correct definition for this, each person seems to have their own definition based on their life experiences.

There is an ancient "duel" between coincidence vs. fate and the explanations are often extreme (depending on who is arguing). Particularly speaking, I'm more inclined to believe in fate than in coincidences. I believe that coincidences are just causalities that happen at non-ordinary moments.

I don't have a definition for "fate" (in fact, I don't think this definition even exists), but I prefer to believe that everything is already written.

How about you? Coincidence or not? :)

Coincidence is another word for predestined fate. They are how we term incidents that determine our paths and because they are unexplained we call the coincidences. They happen for a reason and not just by chance, so when they do occur you should look at what it means for you and why you think it has happened.

I am not a big on believing in "fate" or "coincidence", but I would still believe some cases to be coincidence more than fate. Some things just happen out of the sky without expectations.

There was a movie that I had seen with the title The Adjustment Bureau. It is a fantasy where some creatures that are like angels do something to change the event. It is like saying that those angels are changing the fate of the people particularly the life of the protagonist in the movie. Perhaps those angels are true and that they are doing the so called coincidence which is an event that we cannot explain.

Yes, I believe in coincidences happening! For instances, happen to run into someone at the grocery store.. we all are busy but living in the same area we are bond to run into someone right? But it depends on the coincidence

I believe in coincidence. I believe nothing happens without a reason, I believe our fate is determined and what we do is because we are fated to do this. Some people work very hard yet, they hardly make a living, and there are people who do nothing virtually yet live a comfortable life? What's the reason behind this? Yes of course they have have predetermined fate.

I believe in coincidence. Like coincidently me and my seat mate share the same first name. It's not fate that made our names the same, it was just by coincidence. Fate on the other hand which also means destiny in other words is an ultimate outcome, just like we say, it is the fate of all things to one day end. Both have real meanings but not to be compared with each other because they aren't the same or contrasting in any way.

Hello Have a wonderful day.

Coincidence is present for every one's life. Some people thinks it natural and some people think this is rare. Some times some people who have vision and light of mind - they can take it easily. Other wise some times people get heavily happy by this coincidence.

Thanks Centurion

I do believe in coincidence as I believe its just based on one's actions. I do not however believe in fate, I believe that the future always changes every time and there is no telling what you can be in the future. I may be typing this post right now but for all you know I could be the next president (which would be terrible by the way, please don't vote for me). But as I said, I don't believe that some people are just destined to be beggars or worse-- death. I believe that we are here to forge our own paths, and you can be what ever you want to be, the difficulty however, varies from each person to person.

In fact, there is no such thing as coincidence. There is another thing, which is called providence. If You witness coincidence in your life, it's rather a call of the destiny.

Coincidence is a surety. There are some things that happen that are just a coincidence. But when there are a lot of things happening in sequence it is too much to say that they are all coincidences.

If everything was already written then we wouldn't really have the gift of free agency. To do as we wish with our time. Whether that be a right or a wrong deed will have an effect on our future lives. I believe that we can change the way we are with a little work and will power. The evil deeds that we do I think comes back to us as Karma.

I would normally group Fate with Destiny. Destiny is the good you can expect for yourself in the future, yet Fate sounds more detrimental.

I do not believe in coincidence. I think everything in life has a motive, regardless of whether it's something good or bad. Within Spiritist doctrine, coincidences simply do not exist, for everything that happens in our lives is the result of our actions in past lives and the learning of future lives. I particularly find it strange to think that our lives are guided by mere chance, that is, a simple coincidence can change everything. So my opinion is: coincidences do not exist!

You have a point. I am Hindu and according to Hinduism, nothing happens without a reason, everything occurs for a reason. Even the bad things occur for a reason. I also believe in Buddhism and even in Buddhism, there is no such thing as coincidence because there is a reason for things to happen or exist.

My opinion of coincidence is going to vary depending on the scale we're looking at. On a small scale, I absolutely do believe in coincidence. Oh look, John and I are wearing the same outfit today. That isn't some predestined event which occurred due to the aligning of the stars, we just have similar tastes in fashion and due to the laws of probability ended up wearing the same outfit. That is coincidental.

On a grand scale however, I start believing less in coincidence. Many of the events in your life cannot be chalked up to just coincidence, but are rather a direct result of actions you have performed throughout your life. While I don't believe in destiny or fate, obviously I believe in the laws of cause and effect.

Yes, I believe in coincidence because this has happened with me times without number in life. For instance, I might be thinking of visiting someone I haven't seen for so long at a particular moment, while, at the same moment, the same person might be on his way to pay me a visit. That was a coincidence which I've personally experienced in life.

I think that nothing like Coincidence exist, it's more like the Inevitable, things are gonna happen no matter what. And the destiny, we cannot hide from that.

I do believe in the coincidence, there's so many thing in life that happen without any other reason.
Posted by luispas on 06-24-2017
I think some coincidences are merely that, but most of them are divinely inspired, or from loved ones who have passed. Someone was saying that their watch stopped at exactly the time their father died. Coincidence? I think not!

I do think that coincidence in some case does happen. One has to focus on what they can do and what are the possible things. I have learned that people who try to chase the coincidence are going to have their share of the issues. So it all comes down to the mental understanding of the events. In that order I don't think a lot of things out there are going to be like the coincidence there as well.

I do believe in coincidence, I don't believe that there is destiny or a path, I believe in my own way to make things.
Posted by StolenKid on 06-26-2017
I guess in some circumstances I believe in coincidences on a small scale but I am not sure if I believe in them on a larger scale. I don't believe that there just one path that is predestined for us. I think our path is made up of the choices that we make in our life and it goes from there. I don't really think this debate will ever go away since people believe in different things and there will never be a true answer.

I do believe in coincidence. I believe strongly that everything happens for a reason. I don't believe in fate, I think that things change during our life due the decisions we take and I think that this is the way we write our own "destiny".
Posted by reginafalange on 07-13-2017
It is hard to say whether you have a predetermined fate or your life is entirely determined by your karma. But these two beliefs, fate and karma, both have strong explanations.
Posted by vinaya on 02-22-2018
I absolutely believe in coincidence because it happened to me often. We can't control things or predict whats gonna happen that's why there's a coincidence. People most believe it happened because it's intentional we can say yeah but not everything that happened is intentional. We should also consider the other side where in we can control the future.

I do believe in coincidence, in fact, this happens almost every day. It happens to meet someone or hear about a known person to anyone else. I do not believe in the words that say that everything happens for a, that is not true it just may be a coincidence!

I think I believe in coincidences in the sense that some events take place without our plans and all that. What I still can't agree with is this stuff about superstitions for I do not see any reason people believe that superstitions happen. That you do one thing and the desired result pops up does not make it mandatory that same results would be happening any day you perform those actions no matter how some people tend to believe that superstitions exist. I think that those events are just coincidences and nothing like superstitions.

I believe strongly in coincidence, alot of things happens for no just cause I believe it just want nature wanted to happen at that particular time.So it a mere coincidence it wasn't destined to happen.

I sometimes don’t believe in coincidence because it can be pre-destination or fate. However, there are times that I would say it is mere coincidence and has no meaning at all. Last December, my husband went to the wake of a friend’s father. The wake was in a cemetery. The parking attendant directed the car in a pathway that is between 2 walls of vaults for cremated ashes. When my husband alighted from the car, his companion called his attention to one of the vaults. Etched in the marker were the names of my husband’s parents. We didn’t know that the ashes were deposited in that cemetery. And everyone says that it was not a coincidence but the hand of God.

When I was in school there was a girl named clara (name changed). My friends teased me about the girl and said I will marry clara some day. My wife has the same name. Is this coincidence or the destiny?
Posted by vinaya on 02-22-2018
Well, I tend to believe that there are no coincidences .in our lives, and everything does happen according to our destiny or fate. People try to call things that they are unable to explain as coincidences because they feel that believing in fate will be considered superstitious. I think that our deeds or our Karma of every life decide our destiny or fate.

Like you, I don't believe in coincidences, I believe that everything happens for a reason it's an effect of causality. For every action the universe gives a reaction. In some ways it's like fate.

Yes I believe in coincidence and I never believe in the saying that everything happens for a reason because if that's really the case then the innocent that have been killed happens for a reason? What particular reason? Only God knows? That's some BS, I just don't believe in that, I highly believe that these impossible things that people acclaim are just coincidences that just happens, people tend to make stuffs up just because they get emotionally invested in it, that they don't think rationally anymore.
