Egg has lots of bad cholesterol

Egg has lots of bad cholesterol
I grew up with eggs for our usual breakfast not because it is cheap albeit it is expensive but because it is nutritious. I remember our grade school teacher telling us that drinking milk and eating eggs is good for our health, just like saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Egg has been the traditional breakfast item in our culture. But sometime in the 1980s, there was this news item that said eggs has lots of cholesterol and eating more than 2 eggs a day can kill us. That news item sparked a campaign against eating eggs to which the egg producers made a counter move. It seems that now that anti-egg campaign is starting to move again. So this question – is egg good or bad for our body?

Yeah. Its true.

Hello Have a wonderful day.

Its true. Eggs are traditional breakfast food over all the world. Lots of people take eggs at the breakfast. On Bangladesh this is very common- some peoples are selling boiled egg on the street and peoples are taking by standing on the street 1 or 2 or 3.

Egg have huge cholesterol. On a calculation one egg have 186 mg cholesterol. 300 mg cholesterol is enough for a healthy man. So 2 eggs will be dangerous for any one within one day.

Thanks Centurion

Egg White

Egg whites, just eat the egg whites, huge protein booster and one of the few places you can get a huge protein boost without a large caloric intake. The yolks have cholesterol, but it's not bad if you eat them for taste, but just the egg whites are like God's magic elixir. They also take the taste of anything you put them with, so just add them to something you were going to eat anyway.

Eggs do have some cholesterol. But limit your intake to a couple a week and you have no problem. Its what you cook it in and eat with it that is the problem.

Not at all

Off all the food related articles i have read , there is none that says egg is harmful for the body in any form. Eggs are considered as complete food that contains almost all the essential nutrients for the body and in addition to this it is a rich source of calcium so eat an egg everday and stay fit.
Posted by wikifarmer on 06-18-2017
Yep! You need calcium to stay beautiful and vigorous, and eggs and dairy products are a good way to get it. If you want to lose weight, eggs can give you a good source of protein to stay full. As long as you don't fry them in too much oil, you'll be okay.

Saying that eating more than two eggs per day will kill you is silly. I have a bodybuilding friend that ate around 5 eggs per day for years and he is completely healthy - no cholesterol problems whatsoever.

I honestly wouldn't believe everything that you read. Media and different articles often project exaugurated information. I know a few years ago they were saying how certain veggie was bad and now they're praising it for its health benefits.

If you have cholesterol problems, you are most likely eating something else that's not good for you - don't look for the blame goat in eggs. Eggs are a great source of proteins and a good boost up breakfast option.

The best breakfast ever

I would say an egg a day will keep your doctor away. Unless you are a high cholesterol candidate already then before starting on eggs one should bring the levels down. Having said that the white is absolutely safe and in fact should be had in various forms

Eggs do have some cholesterol and can be bad for you in vast amounts, but it's not an unsolvable problem. Having cholesterol in your eggs doesn't mean that you'll be a victim of high cholesterol. In fact, it even contains good cholesterol that lowers the risk of heart failure and the like. You can't shun an egg because it has something that isn't even all that unhealthy for you especially when you will be missing out of on all of the nutrients it has to offer. I'm fairly sure this debate was settled a while ago and eating eggs was determined not fatal but actually the opposite.
Posted by AlexHarris on 06-17-2017
Yes! Cholesterol itself is not bad for you. It depends on the kind of cholesterol. Your liver naturally makes it. You need cholesterol so that your cell walls can build strength.

I don't think eggs are unhealthy. Or... if they are, their health benefits outweigh the negatives.

Eggs have cholesterol, but as long as you don't over-eat, it's not bad for you. Our body needs cholestrol so it's fine if you eat eggs every now and then. Of course, you shouldn't have multiple eggs everyday. ANYTHING in that amount is an overkill and will be unhealthy for you.

Eggs do not have a lot of bad cholesterol. They are eaten practically every day by everyone in the world and no one has every had any bad health problems from eating it (though it depends on what kind of egg they consumed and how much of it). I suggest that people shouldn't eat too many eggs a day and should eat different varieties of it.

The cholesterol in eggs are good and shouldn't refrain anyone from eating them. These days too many people are worrying about fad diets and almost all human civilizations have farmed and eaten eggs in the past.

Eat Eggs Moderately

Eggs are healthy but eat moderately in order not to absorb high cholesterol.

You can read news that the egg yolks contain high cholesterol compare to the whites. However, if you consume Omega 3 or low cholesterol eggs, you can lower the cholesterol level if you do not eat daily. We do consume 3-4 eggs per day because they are 4 of us in the family. However, we do not eat eggs everyday. 2 days once, we will have sunny eggs up for breakfast or scrambled eggs with minced carrot for dinner.

Eat different food daily in order to intake the necessary vitamins and minerals into our body. Eating eggs everyday is not in my list as I try to space out different food in my family's diet so that they will not have too much of a certain vitamins.

Eat eggs moderately, same goes with other ingredients too.

I agree. Even water can kill you in high doses. Eating eggs is much healthier than eating fried hash browns or a bunch of excess carbs for breakfast. They are a way to keep yourself full.

Old myth.

This is one of the many things that science has revised in recent studies. No, eggs absolutely do not have lots of bad cholesterol. The fact is that while they do have lots of cholesterol (over 124% of your daily value is from just two eggs) the cholesterol found in eggs has not been linked to an increase in risk of heart disease in people who ate 1-2 eggs per day, every day of the week. The impact of egg cholesterol is eclipsed by the effect of trans fats, saturated fats, and sodium found in many of the foods people pair with their eggs for breakfast.

Eggs are good for you!

There are several studies which have shown the cholesterol contained in an egg actually helps lower your bad cholesterol. I know a while back there was a female vegan YouTuber with hundreds of thousands of subscribers who pushed the idea eggs were bad again onto lots of people, but she also believed not menstruating was healthy, so...

Eggs are really healthy and everyone should eat it. I don't think it has any bad cholesterol.
Posted by Ipa07 on 06-17-2017

Eggs are healthy. They are an excellent source of protein in the morning, which helps ensure proper brain function. What can make eggs unhealthy are the oil that people use for them. If you cook your eggs in lard, they will naturally affect your cholesterol levels severely. If you cook them in healthier vegetable oils, you will be okay. The yolk, the part of the egg that gets the most flack, is full of nutrients.

Not at all

I don't think there's too much bad cholesterol in a single egg. It has more benefits than noticeable bad cholesterol. It is a good source of protein and it is a good way to start a day with. Almost everyone I know consumes eggs and some of them eat more than one a day. Most of them do not seem unhealthy.

There are lots of things that are bad for you if you eat too much of it. Who needs more then two eggs a day? I don't eat many eggs but I did growing up because we had out own chickens. I was healthy growing up and I am a healthy adult. When I do eat eggs I enjoyed them hard boiled and a lot of times I just eat the egg whites because I don't care for the yolk of the egg. The yolks have a lot of nutrition in them but I don't care for them. I say eat your eggs and enjoy them. They will do you no harm.

Unfortunately eggs are good and bad for us. Good because it is high in protien and also a cheap source of it as well. It is also bad because of its cholesterol content. If you are young, indulge your self eating as much egg as you can. Older people should think twice inneating eggs daily.
Posted by Neiltarquin on 06-17-2017
Eggs is one of my favorite breakfast. I'm stunned to read your discussion because I always felt that eggs were a rich source of protein and very good for health. I was unaware of the fact that they contain any type of cholesterol either good or bad.

Personally I know some people who eat eggs daily and that too in good amounts. They are healthy till date so I still do not validate your point to a great extent.

If you like eggs but don't want the extra cholesterol, use only the egg whites. Egg whites contain no cholesterol. You may also use cholesterol-free egg substitutes, which are made with egg whites.

Do you know how many times people have discussed about having milk before bad is good / bad thing? They keep changing their minds. Same thing is going on here, as well. Eggs are not unhealthy, over-consumption is. If you eat a lot, yet do not move or exercise, that surely isn't healthy.

I don't thing grouping food as good or bad is a good idea. Whether the food is good or bad depends on how we take them and in what quantity we take it. Rice is good food, in many Asian countries rice happens to be staple food. As long as you eat in right quantity, rice has a lot of health benefits, however, if you eat rice in large quantity, you may develop diabetes because it contains too much starch. If you eat 2-3 eggs daily you are bound to catch disease, however, if you limit to one egg per day and also do some physical workout, egg is always good.

Besides the bad cholesterol from egg yolk, I have read eggs are not good for kids too. There are just many different sayings or "proofs" about certain food, especially on the Internet, but I do not trust them all, as some studies are exactly the opposite. We have eggs for our meals always, as it's easy to prepare and they can be kept for quite a long period, unlike vegetables. I think if we consume any kind of food in moderate way, we also take other food, with good exercises and healthy lifestyle, it should be fine to consume eggs.

Everything you eat in general can be bad if you eat too much of the time. For eggs, If you eat eggs in moderation, I do not see a problem. Especially if you remove the egg yolks then it is healthier.
Posted by simplym on 06-17-2017
Eggs are totally fine when eaten in moderation. There are so many other foods that are much worse for cholesterol than eggs. One of the real enemies of cholesterol is trans fats. if you have a cholesterol problem you may want to limit how many eggs you eat, but in general, they are fine, and a great source of protein.

My aunt told me that the yolk, the part of the egg with the most cholesterol, contains a lot of nutrients. I encourage you to eat them. You shouldn't eat them too much. However, you can say that for almost anything. Remember, eggs are good for you and contain a good source of calcium! Eat up!
Posted by RedVelvetCupcake2009 on 06-20-2017
No, eggs are not bad for you in the way you think. Note, in reality, the trans fats that you find in foods eaten with the eggs are the main killers - not to mention the stuff the eggs are cooked with. Actually, a lot of people can up to 7 eggs per week without having to worry about disease relating to the heart. Anyway, myself, I think that's exaggerated and I probably eat way more eggs than that. However, I'm not a doctor so don't take my word for it.

First by my father and mother and then during my studies at the medical college that i have to eat eggs at intervals ..what is the reason? The reason is that egg yolk contains a lot of cholesterol. Therefore, eggs will raise cholesterol levels in the blood and increase the risk of heart sisease.

I like eggs, and I really don't care much if it had bad cholesterol. Eggs are just so useful and one of the primary ingredient in making a cake or anything sweets. I'm an egg lover, and it also beneficial to the bones so I see nothing wrong with eggs.
Posted by DanoCath on 09-03-2017
I an egg or two in a day doesn't sound that bad as you get the benefits of it if you partner it with another highly balanced nutritious meals. I'm also been consuming at least 2 egg whites a day for snacks to substitute for my meat intake supposedly I ran out of the fridge. From time to time I get sick of just eating egg whites so I randomly eat it with meat and slices of bread with other condiments just to make sure I get the amount of protein I need every day.

Even though this is a topic where opinions always appear to be more favorable than facts - I would just say that - although its highly unlikely that eating 2 eggs a day will kill you - considering the fact that - absolutely no one regardless of age or weight is immune from having high cholesterol - as cholesterol is made by our bodies as well as absorbed from many other foods and not just eggs and therefore can - as high cholesterol itself shows no symptoms at all - build up in the blood increasing the of risk of heart related disease without being noticed until its too late and therefore - is an issue never to be complacent about.

The best option here - if you value your health - would be to follow the current medical guidelines regarding egg consumption - which are

" That although eating 1 egg per day does not increase the risk of heart disease in generally healthy people - the latter is recommended as the better option

It is however - not the case for people suffering with diabetes or heart related diseases - as for them - egg consumption should be limited to no more than three yolks per week ".

all of which can be fully verified in easy to read non medical terminology here

The egg is still viewed with disdain by many people who want to lose weight, for fear of cholesterol, but in fact it is considered an ally in the battle for weight loss. In addition to containing proteins of high biological value, which give satiety and reduce hunger, the egg has substances, such as albumin, that help in gaining lean mass and muscle hypertrophy.
