Facebook is trying to integrate a Netflix like feature
Facebook is constantly expanding and trying to find new ways of growth and new ways to keep people from leaving their platform, even for a little bit. Facebook's main goal is to basically become the Internet, they don't want to give people any reasons to look for other services or leave the platform to spend time on other similar social networks or even on services that are totally different from the main idea of what Facebook is.

This can be clearly seen in Facebook's successful attempts to copy anything of value other companies create and integrate them somehow into Facebook. This is what they did with Facebook games, messengers like Whatsapp, Instagram as well as plenty other services. It continuously improves its search engines so one day it can rival Facebook and it makes sure to create a friendly atmosphere for companies and advertisement to profit from.

But recently Facebook announced something totally different, stepping in the movie business! That's right Facebook plans to develop its own movies just as Amazon or Netflix becoming a huge competitor for both of these companies, but not only online stream services, classic TV networks will also have compete with Facebook's new movies and shows! If Facebook manages o pull off anything close to what Netflix has done with House of Cards while giving it away for free, I believe there is no stopping them from putting a total monopoly over the video industry killing both Youtube and other similar services in this process.

What do you think about this new Facebook development and ever expanding goals trying to become the new Internet?

I know, I'm weird, but I don't really like Facebook. I feel like it was the jumping off point for the intrusiveness we face online today. I feel like they have zero respect for our privacy, and now so many others are walking all over our privacy too. You can't even look for a movie now without being tracked all over the place, so imagine when FB has all your viewing history too. Like they need any more of our info...

Before anyone comes along with the worn out "if you have nothing to hide" stuff, get real. You don't have to have anything to hide to want to protect your privacy.

I think Facebook should try to concentrate on the services they have now before trying to expand. There are problems with some of the things they do now, and their customer service is very hard to reach. I think they should be trying to perfect what they have before moving on to new areas.

I think a much better idea would be, instead of integrate a Netflix-like feature, integrate Netflix itself! And maybe also the other streaming sites like Amazon and others. Facebook, as I see it, is primarly a sharing platform: integrating Netlifx would allow basic features like.. well, likes.. and comments. Look the Netflix page on Facebook, it have lots of fans! Maybe the comments should work like the livestreaming feature, so that you can talk with other people around the world commenting what's happening. No more watching something completely alone without anyone to comment with, here you would have a live discussion thread to talk about it! Maybe with features like that it would become a completely different thing from Netflix, but I think that today an alliance between two big companies is better for them, instead of a competition.

They'd be successful if they provide this service for free. But I don't think they will. I think it'll be a paid service like Netflix. It's hard to say if they'll do better than Netflix since Facebook doesn't have any works for comparison. But Netflix is dominating the market now so it's going to be really hard beating them. Facebook would really need to do somethnig extraordinary to beat out Netflix.

Facebook is one of the most used social media. In fact facebook is second to youtube in terms of traffic volume. Facebook is number one in terms of user base. These data are couple of years old, therefore, facebook may not be as high as it was few years ago. Many social media have evolved and they are giving fierce competition to facebook. I think this feature will be good for the facebook users. When live video features was introduced on facebook, many people had criticized, however, later it went to be hit.

No doubt that Facebook wants to become the internet. They imitate or try to buy every other successful idea. They straight up bought Instagram, copied apps like periscope with the Facebook live thing (not to mention that Instagram also has a "go live option"), copied youtube rewind, and they're trying to turn Instagram in snapchat with the history thing and the recent face filters! So I'm not surprised they're trying to copy Netflix. I don't like this one bit! Facebook is trying to create a monopoly, and if they succeed it probably would have nasty repercussions. Let's just hope that never happens!

Today Facebook is the most used social media platform where in we are able to get in touch with all our friends and family. As number of Facebook active users is increasing even facebook is trying to keep it constantly increasing and has been successful to a great. The idea of bringing NetFlix into Facebook would be great step from business point of view, because Facebook has already millions of users and traffic is all that Netfilx needs.

Facebook has become a monster. A monster, we the consumer continues to feed. We watch this FB Monster get bigger and more powerful, yet we keep feeding it. The only solution is not to use their added services and a part of the monster will die. The other part is, to cancel your account with FB and never use them again. The reality is, they have become a necessary Monster for us stay in touch with family and friends and to promote our business and products. They are becoming the biggest and most powerful platform for engagement with followers and prospects.

I think more and more people will be staying on facebook if they do that. Because if facebook offers movie streaming then surely that would give people pass to spend more time on their network. I am sure there are people who don't mind playing games on facebook. So movies won't be much of an issue. People can watch it anytime they want as well. So it's a good experience for sure.

I don't know anything about that, would it make sense for Facebook to change its service like that? Facebook rarely changes anything and I think people are used to the site. Netflix is so popular it would be difficult to compete with it but we'll see what happens if Facebook decides to have streaming.
