Gazebos are built at a distance from the house and are stand alone units usually used for entertaining. Traditional gazebos have eight sides forming an enclosure but the area enclosed is often open from all sides or not covered in order to let light and ventilation to pass through for one to enjoy the surroundings. The roof of these gazebos is pitched, making them look like outdoor rooms. Contemporary gazebos follow the same principle but may have fewer sides or pillars. The floor is slightly raised and inside there is a seating arrangement. Larger gazebos can even have lights and barbecue arrangements, apart from dining arrangements. People often use plants or bamboo blinds to add privacy but “glass enclosed gazebos” are not unheard of. The structure is permanent and requires a relaively large space and so it may not be ideal for small patios.

? It offers privacy; ? It is a permanent structure and can offer protection from rain and wind, ? It offers protection from sun while still being able to ejoy the outdoor area. ? It can be used as an entertainment space outside the home.

? It costs more to build a gazebo than to have a giant umbrella installed in a patio

Gazebos are awesome

Oh man Gazebos are so awesome it's so nice to have one in your garden. Especially if you have one that's inset and secluded almost. They are so nice to sit in and watch the seasons go by in. Great for the summertime when you can have friends and family around and people can sit inside and under it and have drinks and that. And great for the winter time as well. Especially if you have one of those fully enclosed gazebos as they can be nice and warm and snug to sit in while it's snowing or something. I want it to snow now and wish I had a gazebo to sit in or under and I would! :D

love gazebos!

I absolutely love gazebos and would love to have one in my backyard. I especially like when they are screened in so you can sit and enjoy the outdoors while being protected from burning sun and bugs. Gazebos are beautiful and a nice addition to any landscape. They are a comfortable place to relax with friends or family. I don't like patio umbrellas as they eventually wear out or get torn in strong winds or storms.

Gazebos are just a lot better. I have never really liked Patio umbrellas because they are just useful when it is sunny. They are not the best thing to have when it is raining, for example, because it does not offer much protection from the side. The thing is, Gazebos are a lot more expensive which is why a lot of people don't have one.

I have always found gazebos so beautiful. My grandmother has a quite a big wooden one behind her house and when I stayed there as a child, I loved to play inside it. It is really pleasant because it is outside and very spacious. You can also just sit inside it, look at the lovely nature and simply relax.

The gazebo is far superior to the patio umbrella. You can't have it outside during winter or strong wind. It would get destroyed and knocked over. The gazebo is permanent and can stay where you build it forever.

They are expensive, and they are often a spider nest! Seriously, I found more spiders in gazebos than anywhere else... and they also might be a bit fragile sometime, so you don't want to be with too many person on it. But they are so cool! Patio umbrella is just... a umbrella, maybe. And when it's rainy it's not actually that useful. On a Gazebo (if there is not a storm, of course) you could stay "inside" it and admire the rain! Wonderful.

For me there is no doubt, because I dream of having a Gazebo in my dream house. I want a pool, a lawn and a gazebo. I would like to have a garden too, so maybe a Gazebo would match my idea.

Year round enjoyment

Apart from the fact that it would be near impossible to use a patio umbrella where I live - as not only do we have such strong winds that it would probably be sitting in someone else's garden - quite some distance away - in next to no time - but as they generally have to be replaced each year - as the sun here is so intense that it destroys the fabric - having always much preferred gazebos - my choice has to be the latter

Simply because - apart from looking way better - they are a permanent structure that can be enjoyed all year round and for many years too - regardless of the weather - which to me - even though they generally cost considerably more that a sun shade or umbrella - makes them a worthwhile investment.

Gazebos Are Better

I have always loved gazebos. They are a welcome addition to any back yard or park, and I love to sit in them and read a good book while the breeze blows through and I listen to the birds chirping. Gazebos are relaxing, and they provide a much nicer structure than a simple yard umbrella. Also, you generally do not have to worry about a gazebo blowing over should high winds ensue. Gazebos are even useful for events like weddings and other get-togethers, and the circular style seating they usually provide allows for everyone sitting there to easily see each other and have pleasant conversation. They are also perfect for a romantic picnic. I vote gazebos here, definitely.

Fresher and nicer!

I like Gazebos better. They provide a nice break from the heat and from the intense sunlight which we have a lot here. Perfect place for a healthy conversation or for a picnic

Traditional and relaxing feeling

In our country, gazebos made from bamboo are very common and somehow symbolizes simplicity in life as how I see it. It is relaxing to rest in a gazebo rather than just under a patio umbrella. I would say that patio umbrella would serve well during daytime but at night, gazebos still provide that pleasant feeling as they are also equipped with yellow or dim lights. I believe that gazebos are worth investing in as they will be very useful in the long run.

Gazebos are much better

Gazebos are elegant and practical. I'm always struggling with my patio umbrella. My friend with a gazebo doesn't have the same problems.

I love hanging out in gazebo's. Here in our country even restaurant and bars use it. Cause it can really attract group of people who wants to hang out with privacy. I always want to have gazebo in our backyard or rooftop of our ancestral house. I just haven't got the chance to save money for it. But i know It is way better to invest for gazebo rather than patio umbrella. Gazebo is a long term investment. It can't easily be destroyed unlike umbrella which you need to buy again everytime strong winds have damaged it. It's already a package cause you have the seats too, where you can even lay down and rest.

It looks cool and comfortable, and it provides privacy under on a low level, but it's really better than the Patio, and am the kind of person that does not joke or play with my privacy. And it looks comfortable and will protect from some harsh weather condition, and can be used to relax too. I love it.

I think this is the more practical choice if one can afford it. An umbrella can be nice too but during strong winds it can't hold up and if the rain is going in a more diagonal direction it might also not be able to protect you from getting wet. A gazebo is a bit more able to do this and even with strong rains you could just cover it up a bit and be able to still stay outdoors.

I remember I used to hang-out in our University Gazebos every lunch time to study, but then I fall asleep. I have always wanted to have a Gazebo in our place but I think it is really expensive, unless you make one on your own. It's such a lovely spot, where you can have a romantic dinner with your partner, have breakfast with your family, snacks and chit-chat or anything you wanna do.

Gazebo is so relaxing

I find Gazebo as a relaxing place to be since it's very open to the air and so comfortable to stay with unlike in Patio Umbrella where it does absorb the heat from the sunlight and feels it in your body which is not okay. Staying in a Gazebo is relaxing because all the woods that surround you, cool down the air to give you a relaxing rest.

Patio umbrella

Patio umbrella
One of the best ways to enjoy your patio is to spend time out there, watching the flowers bloom and the gentle spring breeze. But the sun's rays may disrupt this feeling of relaxation as during the summer months it is too hot. So installing a large patio umbrella can help to solve this problem. The construction of these umbrellas is similar to that of a regular umbrella. However, the area beneath it is much larger. These can be easily installed in a garden or patio. The handle end of such an umbrella usually has a stand, or it would be “L” shaped. The shorter line of the “L” is pushed under the heavy part and thanks to this the umbrella remains in place. Being light, this umbrella is quite portable. The disadvantages of a patio umbrella include the fact that it does not offer much protection against rain especially if it is also windy. Also, not many people can sit under it. When there are strong winds the umbrella may get damaged. Even in fair weather, the patio umbrella provides only partial protection from the sun’s harsh rays and only to a limited number of people. Trying to cook under it is also not recommended.

? It is portable. ? It is easy to install ? It is quite affordable

? It is not much use when it is rainy. ? It cannot be used as a place for entertainment ? Shaded area beneath it is limited.

Is it raining under here?

Patio umbrellas can easily be put up and taken down depending on your needs. They are convenient, safe, sometimes attractive, and ultimately disposable if some weather event ruins them. A gazebo, on the other hand, is a permanent structure which requires maintenance to remain safe and cleanly. It will certainly become a haven for spiders and bees which you will have to deal with before you can enjoy them. Plus, because it's a permanent structure there will be tax increases on your property the next time assessment officers are prowling your neighborhood.

So nice!

Gazebos are very beautiful and nice places (it's impossible to deny it), but they are not places for me. I prefer to keep up to date with the actuality / modernity and the gazebos don't represent this for me. So, I prefer the "patio umbrella" option because they fit 100% with my lifestyle.

Well Gazebos are nicer but they are also expensive so it is just one of the things that you might want to consider. I know that I could use both. I do have a patio umbrella, and have thought about buidling a gazebo. Both of them are good and can give you the sort of experience you might want to have in your home. They are attractive and fun ways to keep the sun off you in the summer.

You are right with the cost of gazebo that we wanted one and we couldn’t afford so we settled for the umbrella which is easy to install and easier still to uninstall and keep in the storage. However, the gazebo is classy and people will admire the front yard. Honestly we cannot afford a gazebo but I am hoping that someday we could buy one just to adorn our front yard.

Gazebos are beautiful structures. They are permanent and great if you have the yard for them. They have windows or screens to keep the bugs out. They keep your furniture protected from the elements so it lasts longer. You can decorate it anyway you want to make it comfy and cozy. Patio umbrellas are nice if you have don't have room for a Gazebo. They allow you to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. You are on your patio so it is easy to go in and outside.

I don't have either gazebo or patio umbrella in my house. patio umbrella gives a better look to the house, however, I will prefer to have a gazebo. In a gazebo I can work peacefully (in my computer), enjoy lunch or even a candle light dinner if I want fresh air, I can go to a gazebo. I can also have a gathering of friends and family. A Gazebo has numerous purposes.
Posted by vinaya on 09-06-2017
Gazebo looks so pretty and different it is not the typical patio umbrella. It is more private and if it is raining it won't be a problem. I always wanted a gazebo in my back yard because this is big and it will look cute and nice. You can even make reunions or parties in there. For example, birthdays, celebrate mother's day and father's day, etc. A gazebo could be more expensive but is cuter than a patio umbrella.

Our boss here whose residing in their very own shop had converted a part of their garden into gazebo. Yes it quite cost a lot but hey they're the boss of this nationwide service and repair of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment so they had a lot of money to build one. Its quite useful as sometimes they had lots of guest from other company and we also hangout there by the boss' permission on holiday season particularly on Christmas and New Years doing karaoke and drinking alcoholic beverages.

Our patio is small such that only a patio umbrella is appropriate. But if given a choice with a bigger patio, of course, I would prefer a gazebo. Aside from the classy look, the gazebo is very confortable especially when there is a breeze. And when it rains, staying under the gazebo is just fine unlike being under a patio umbrella that is inconvenient. But we have to take into consideration the cost of a gazebo vis-a-vis the patio umbrella.

Its nice to have a gazebo than patio umbrella. You can bring your guest there to relax and enjoy the view of your garden. Its sturdy and can protect you during harsh winds and rain unlike patio umbrella. I have this habit of spending a lot of time in gazebos even during high school where my friends and I love to hang out in our school gazebos.
Posted by rose thornes on 09-08-2017
Both things are nice but it depends on how much space do you have in your backyard. The patio umbrella is cool because you can put some chairs there, have some drinks and you have a very good place that doesn't require much space. The gazebo works well if you have a lot of space to put it there and you can have some friends or family over so you have this area to chill with some drinks and food, or maybe just to sit there and talk.

I'd much rather be in a gazebo because it's much more comfortable and safer as well since an umbrella can't always protect you from rain because you aren't as covered. There are probably some situations where I would prefer an umbrella over a gazebo, but I think in most situations, if I had access to both, I'd probably go for a gazebo first, given the choice. The only time I'd favor the umbrella was if I was trying to get more sun, since a gazebo will most likely have me covered a lot more, so an umbrella would be better so I could cover whatever I want from being baked in the sun while still being able to catch some sun rays myself.
Posted by Wubwub on 09-09-2017
Gazebo is more relaxing to take a rest or spend time talking together with your family or friends because it is enclosed. Not like patio umbrella which have limitations like protection against heavy rain is not 100% sure at the same time it is not permanent in terms of location.
Posted by rogel on 09-09-2017
Gazebo because it looks beautiful in the garden. You can put it in a middle of the pond or you can just put it in the center of the garden. It can have many purposes and one of it can be used in a wedding to serve as altar.
Posted by Scarlet on 09-14-2017
I always like the easy way out and I know installing a patio umbrella will be the way I wouldn't have to bother so much about the cost because it a lot cheaper to install one and it portable to handle and also durable too.I think hsving a patio umbrella will be a way to go for me.

In my opinion Gazebo's are only applicable to a house with a large garden or area. While Patio Umbrella doesn't need a big lot area. I'm choosing patio umbrella because it's nearer, it's situated in the patio unlike Gazebo's which is situated far-off.
