HIV and AIDS : There is Treatment, But There Will Never Be a Cure?

HIV and AIDS : There is Treatment, But There Will Never Be a Cure?
Science is beautiful. Medical science is miraculous. Back in 2012, found an article published via that gave me hope. The reading material is way over my head. But this is the gist of it.

  • For decades, a person diagnosed with AIDS was (and is) treated using an antiretroviral drug regimen. Though effective, it is not a cure and there are several side effects. Also, this drug, HAART, is ineffective on dormant forms of the virus that lurk within T-cells and other cell types. That means even if you get rid of active HIV and you miss a dose the inactive or latent virus might wake up and attack! Compounds called bryologs" were created in a laboratory. The lab's work may give doctors a practical way to flush out the dormant virus*.
Though the info is dated (i.e. 2012), it still sounded like the most powerfully wonderful news to be announced since the world became aware of HIV and AIDS.

As of January 2015, Timothy Ray Brown became the first person in the world to be cured of the infection following a stem cell transplant in 2007.

Research continues. Stay positive. Where there is life, there is hope.

SUMMARY: A new collection of compounds, called "bryologs" -- derived from a tiny marine organism -- activate hidden reservoirs of the virus that currently make the disease nearly impossible to eradicate.

  • The Berlin Patient, First and Only Person 'cured' of HIV, Speaks out. . Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., Publishers, 6 Jan. 2015. Web. 26 Feb. 2015. http://www.sciencedail.../2015/01/150106103951.htm . There is a treatment for this illness, but there will never be a cure? WHY?

  • Some have said that HIV and AIDS will never be cured because it is Divine punishment for people who chose an immoral lifestyle. The fact that it can be treated is simply proof of Divine mercy and compassion as some may have been infected accidentally, through no fault of their own.
Agree or Disagree.

I believe there is a cure.

I have to agree with the person above me. From my personal research on this topic about unreleased or 'forbidden' cures I would have to say I am a strong believer that there is a cure for EVERYTHING. And yes, I mean everythng, including cancer. From my research I have seen numerous people cured of HIV/AIDs using different methods. There is also a population of children in africa being born with the prehibitor for AIDs, meaning they may have HIV but the illness will never go into full blown AIDs. If they can not find a cure using those children's blood then I do not know who can. If nature found a way to prehibit an illness I am definitely certain humans can too!

There will be a way.

I think there is going to be a cure and one thing that I have also get to understand about it is that the scientists are always doing everything possible to ensure that they get the cure. While it is not going to be easy, I believe that it is pretty possible.

A cure exists but will never be released worldwide

A cure for HIV/AIDS exists but it will never be released to the masses because money talks. Magic Johnson the NBA pro basketball player had his HIV mostly cured/neutralized because he had access to the necessary funding. Many others do not, so they'll never see a cure.

It's the same thing with cancer. A cure exists but it will never be given to the masses because treating the disease lines and fills the pockets of a lot of people in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. A cure would put them out of work and out of business. On the off chance a cure for HIV was released legitimately to the masses? People like Martin 'pharmabro' Shkreli would jack the price up so high they'd never be able to afford it.

Your profile picture makes your position on the cure of HIV seem that much more like that of a conspiracy theorist. I do believe that after all these years there is literally no way that there isn't a cure for HIV. As for cancer, there is definitely something there since it has existed for quite a while and there has been a cure for cancer in Chinese medicine for the longest time but that has been banned in the US and whatever the treatment might be, it isn't worse than chemotherapy.
Your stance is indeed controversial and I can not possibly speak to it as it would require further research on my part. For example, I don't know who Martin 'pharmabro' Shkreli is. (O.o) Thanks for expressing your thoughts.
I find it hard to believe that there is a cure for cancer in China which has been banned in the USA because even if it were banned, I would think that patients from the US would be willing to travel to China to get the treatment. Why not? Americans have been known to travel to other countries when they're sick for treatment that they can't get in America.
I do believe this is true. Pharma industry is making zillions of money by selling all those retroviral meds. And with all the advances on medicine and technology, how can it be possible, that there's still no cure for such a disease? That's obviously hard to believe, and as you just said is not only about HIV, but about cancer, diabetes, hypertension, all those conditions are keeping the industry going on, so for sure they don't want to solve those health issues.

No Cure Yet

I guess there's no cure yet because if it has, then there will be no more HIV infected persons today. Though there are some opinions here saying that there is a cure but maybe it's true but we are only basing on mere speculations. The fact is, everyday there is an increasing numbers of persons infected with HIV and that is reality.
Posted by rage35 on 11-07-2017
From what I have read there is a treatment, not a cure.

Not yet

Cure does not exist yet. I am sure it'll be on hold because pharma companies will make money. So it's reasonable that they want to avoid showing the cure. And make money from the medicine which does not solve the problem. And that in itself can be something worth thinking about. I am sure you can see that some of the time HIV based related diseases can be troublesome as well.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, they're interested in the money that these illness will give them and that's why they'll hold on to that cure. But people saying that it's a divine punishment are just talking without any basis, faith, God or being immoral have nothing to do with this terrible illness.
In regards to my reply, if I am wrong and a cure doesn't exist, you can best bet that the pharma companies will make as much profit from the cure as they can. Initially when I was a child I thought pharma companies were good because they allowed for people to be healthy by taking their medicines. Now that I am an adult, the pharma companies are so evil, that I myself do not take any pharma drugs, this includes Tylonel and Advil. The only thing I would use is a cough syrup or a band-aid but nothing else, not even at a hospital or other-like setting because of my digust for them.

No cure

I heard and read in the internet that this kind of disease has no cure. All we need to do is be safe because prevention is better than cure.
Posted by mark86 on 10-07-2018

Nope, there isn't any cure for it yet. It is a punishment for us humans for doing hanky panky stuff that God had forbid. So, we cannot blame God for the illness. Time awaits death unless there is a miracle. Maybe one day, a scientist or a researcher may find the cure but who knows when it will come.
Posted by peachpurple on 11-05-2017
HIV/AID can be gotten from many other means asides hanky panky. And yes, i believe some day in the nearest future a cure will be out. It's only a matter of time.

I wish there's a cure for aids like other deadly diseases. But come to think of it if we speculate that it God's punishment to immoral mankind what can we say about the six killer diseases plagued on kids that are not immunized early enough like polio that leaves children crippled for life, where these kids also immoral or disobedience? I just believe aid is what it is a disease and has nothing to do with divinity. All the same it good that it can at least be treated if not totally cured. At least victims can still live on.
Posted by lovely on 11-05-2017
Agree. There are many diseases that we can treat and cure today that at one time people were dying from because nobody knew what the cure was. More often than not people wrote off their ignorance or lack of knowing the cure by saying “It's God” or “it's the gods”. The Supreme One must be angry. I think those who say AIDS is a Divine punishment are doing the same thing. Either expressing their own ignorance or taking advantage of the ignorance of others.
Posted by foxchannel on 11-09-2017
Aids is an illness that no one knows how to cure it,even the experts.I was thinking if aids can be cured, aids would still be rampant.
Posted by Anonymous on 11-05-2017
I don't beleive that it is a punishment from God. Aids is a disease that has no cure but people are living much longer with the treatments that are available. It is no longer a death sentence like it use to be. People have been going on to live a long life after being diagnosed and taking the necessary meds. One time when you contacted aids you were dead in a short time. It was a painful death. Now it is so different. Even though a person will never be cured of the disease they can live a somewhat normal life.
Posted by Sue on 11-05-2017
I think the pharma companies are making money from medicine that does not cure us. And that seems to be working well for many years. Why would they want to cure people? That's beyond my thinking. I think when there is more money to be made by making people sick, there does not seem to be any incentive that can be earned from making people healthy. So we have to learn from what we have as well.
Posted by overcast on 11-05-2017
There is cure for hiv Aids but the poor do not have access to it , it is only those that are well to do that have access to this drug, they only provide the drug that will suppress the virus but not to cure it to the poor.
Posted by babyright on 11-05-2017
People who have it end up with a chronic disease but thankfully most people do not die of it now. Some people do very well living with the disease like Magic Johnson for instance. Of course some individuals no doubt do not have access to the types of treatment that Johnson can afford. It is important to take meds as prescribed.
Posted by kgord on 11-05-2017
HIV and aids are not the only diseases for which there are no cures. Nowadays we have many people dying due to cancer. I hope that they find a remedy to cure cancer. I hope that they find a definitive cure for HIV and aids too. Only those who have contracted such diseases know what it's like to suffer from them. We must not look down those people who have aids. We must try to help them to go in remission at least.
Posted by Pixie on 11-05-2017
Agree. HIV and AIDS are not the only many diseases that don't have cures. If God is punishing people by not allowing researchers to find the cure for AIDS, then He must be punishing people who have other diseases for which we have also not found a cure. It's illogical. I also think when you attach a label to a person who is sick and call them "bad" or "immoral" instead, you might interfere with the person even seeking medical treatment. They might be ashamed to come forward and ask a doctor for help. The person is already ill. Have some compassion. Don't condemn them! You don't know what God is thinking anyway!
Posted by foxchannel on 11-09-2017
I don't think AIDS is a divine punishment for immoral lifestyle. A child born from a mother affected with AIDS is likely to have AIDS. What immoral sin did this child commit? We have anti-retroviral treatment for AIDS, however there is no cure. However, I think there will be cure in the future. Scientists will develop a vaccine that stops HIV.
Posted by vinaya on 11-05-2017
Well said. Thanks for pointing that out. I don't get it when people say its a divine punishment from above. How does that even come into play?
Posted by Anonymous on 11-07-2017
It comes into play through ignorance. It won't be the first time in the history of mankind that God's punishment was offered as being the reason for some horrific disease or plague or illness that people didn't know how to cure. Hey! Can't fix the problem? Blame God!
Posted by foxchannel on 11-09-2017
There simply isn't any cure yet for AIDS/HIV at this point and that is not reason enough to think it is a punishment from God. There are many older diseases that have yet to find complete cure such as cancer and leukemia. I'm sure that if a cure was indeed found, drug companies or scientists will not hide it and instead make history and huge money out of the discovery. If they don't, some other companies or individuals will beat them to it and it will be their loss.
Posted by chatbox on 11-06-2017
I believe too there is already a treatment for AIDS / HIV. But only if money talks. Like other celebrities who suffered for many years now and still alive, I think they have the necessary treatment. There are so many people who have been infected with this illness and almost of them died after. For the cure part, hard to believe that for many years there is still no cure. But as of now, we will wait for the development of a vaccine and wait for a miracle.
Posted by Norman1 on 11-07-2017
Given all the medical advances that we bear witness to, I don't doubt that there will be a cure in a near future. Still How long that will take is not up to us to decide or to predict. Until then we got to keep up the faith with what we got!
Posted by Marvadaum on 11-07-2017
If they can create a treatment, of course they already know the cure but they don't want to inform people because it's money business. Just like cancer has cure but it was not released before but now the information was leaked.
Posted by Scarlet on 11-08-2017
I believe we are closer to a cure than most people think. Its no way with the technology we have now that scientist and doctors don't have one. HIV/AIDS is a money maker for the government when will people realize the government does not care about the people. Pharmaceutical companies are making millions that's why doctors are so quick to rely on medication than to give you healthy alternatives. Who ever heard of taking a pill to treat one thing only to get sick with another. "Tylenol will help mild to moderate pain but you will experience possible migraines, drowsiness and stomach pain". SERIOUSLY!!?
Posted by Anonymous on 11-08-2017
Indeed. SERIOUSLY??!!! I can't stand the fact that drugs prescribed to get rid of one problem have 15 to 20 side effects, many symptoms that you never even experienced. My mother always tried to find a natural remedy when she got sick. Many times that "old folks medicine" worked. I believe that the cure for our ailments exists in nature already. We just don't know enough. So since we don't know, we go to a medical professional because we hope they care about us and we hope they want to help us get better. We trust them. Sadly, some of them can't be trusted. It's a dilemma.
Posted by foxchannel on 11-09-2017
I don't think you can cure something when you don't know how it occurs. The problem is that there are different strains and with a virus you can never kill it off unless you kill the host. I do think that they have come up with ways to stop the virus spreading and to halt the effects. My friend has AIDS and he's on experimental drugs because that's what they have to do. They can only try drugs and see how patients respond.
Posted by Alexa on 11-08-2017
I agree with what you have said. Maybe HIV can be prevented by this experimental drugs that they have taken but it will never cure them from the disease. Some scientist and medical practitioners are still experimenting on how to cure it, so I would never believe that there is already a treatment from this condition.
Posted by luv2xacosta on 12-13-2018
There is really no cure. Even the treatment is not enough since the virus will still exist in your bloodstream. Well, I can say that people should not engage in promiscuous behavior and make sure to find a partner for themselves. It will really be nice if people do the right thing to avoid the spread of this disease.
Posted by Anonymous on 11-08-2017
It may sound crazy, but I think there is already a cure for HIV. I think this cure is not just released because the pharmaceutical industry would stop profiting from the remedies.

I think healing can be in nature, free for all people, but unfortunately not everyone nor the knowledge.
Posted by hermessantos on 11-18-2017
I believe that this is a punishment of God so this illness existed but I have heard many stories that there are cures for many diseases like cancer, etc. but because it's a money business so pharmaceutical company won't create a cure. If people will be cured, the business of pharmaceutical company will be bankrupt.
Posted by Scarlet on 12-06-2017
My take on HIV and AIDS is that they are the wrath of God. Pardon me if you belong to the so called LGBT. There it is in the Bible that the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed due to too much homosexuality. And now this curse of AIDS and HIV with the gays as the primary victims. Isn’t is a clear sign that we are entering another era? And with the same sex marriages being allowed in some countries, that’s a travesty of the law of God. Anyway, I don’t think there will be a cure to those diseases for religious reasons.
Posted by Corzhens on 01-24-2018
This how the pharmacies earn money. I think there's already cure, but never release yet, but I honestly agree to the pharmacies about this. Don't release the medicine. We should not tolerate this act, same sex is the reason of this AIDS, if they want to avoid this, don't do the same sex we should not tolerate this. :)

Aids is certainly one of the most feared diseases which has taken thousands of lives throughout the world. It has also become a disease which has a lot of controversies and misconceptions surrounding it. People with aids are often mistreated and ostracized in even the most modern societies. Although having good precautionary medicines, a healthy diet and wellness regime can help in the overall increase in the capability of the patients fighting this disease there is still no medicine available which can completely cure an Aids patient.
Posted by jpk0007 on 11-28-2018
I don't think is a cure yet because if there is, then why there are plenty of people who have suffered from this disease. HIV is hard to cure because the virus keeps on evolving whenever there is a new medicine introduced to it.
