Has the era of Ronaldo vs Messi come to an end?
For the past decade, when you talk about football, the name Messi and Ronaldo remain popular and it is only someone that is not keen on football that does not know both guys. For the last few years, they have shared the title of the best footballer amongst them and this is no mean feat.

However, as we can see, we had a new winner in the name of Modric this year. Do you think that has brought an end to the rivalry that exists between Ronaldo and Messi?

I think the fact that Ronaldo left La Liga for Serie A kind of put a dent in the rivalry between himself and Messi. It was a lot easier to compare both players when they played in the same league. I believe Messi and Ronaldo have outdone themselves and have oustanding records to show for it. Anything they do now will only add to their greatness and carve their names even deeper in the stone of legends.

About Modric winning the balon d'or this year, I think it was only fair. He deserves it at the very least.

Ever since Ronaldo has left the La Liga Series it has been an end of the two greatest and iconic duos to face one another. There will be times such as an exhibition match taking place to go up against Ronaldo's new team Juventus against Messi's Barcelona but seeing this won't happen so much. It is an end of an era for me for the two of them but their legacies and comparisons will surely live on.

I actually think that even if it's the end of an era for them. They still have served their purpose right. They have been icons of football and even the non-football fans like me know these two.

Not at all. It is good to see a healthy competition in the sport. To be a superstar, you need not be on the top performing list every single year. Messi and Ronaldo are legends and they have already proven themselves in several tournaments worldwide. I am sure they will be back with a bang the next year!

I'm not a fan of soccer and these celebrities so I really don't know what going on with them.

They may not reached Finals this year but I believe this year is just a slight setback for them. I am sure that next year both of them are ready to showcase their talents.

I do not think it is the end of the Messi vs Ronaldo era at all. They are both still at the top of their game as proved by the following stats:

  • Messi is the top goalscorer in all competitions this week, with 45 goals scored.
  • Ronaldo is the second top goalscorer, after Messi, with 41 goals scored.
  • Messi has contributed to 62 goals across all competitions this season.
  • Ronaldo has been involved in 52 goals so far this season,
As you can see from these stats, both players are still doing incredibly well this season! Although Modric won the Ballon d'Or this time, I definitely see Messi or Ronaldo picking it up again next year.

I do not think their era is over, at least not yet. Without doubt, they are the best nowadays. No player achieved what those two did in last 10+ years. They were great every season. They scored 30+ goals in each season in last ten years! Whoa! Also, Cristiano and Messi are top two goalscorers in Champions league, so that also got to mean something. This season, they are contending with Lewandowski for the player with most goals in calendar season. I would not say their era is over until they both retire.
