Have you played the game "What's the Good Word"?

Have you played the game "What's the Good Word"?
In days gone by we had this game “What’s the Good Word’ telecast and I did take part once and faired badly. That was the first time I had gone on tv and despite getting ready for the game I go too nervous and just could not remember neither the antonyms nor the acronyms of the word kept hidden in that slip for my partner to answer and vice versa

What’s the good word is an interesting game. There are three teams of two players eacfh. Each is provided with words hidden in slips. The partner opens the slip and gives out a single synonym or acronym that can help the other partner guess the word. There is just one word given out each time with three chances. There is a time limit too. If the partner succeds in guessing the word points are allotted starting with 9 at the first attempt, 8 at the second and 7 at the third attempt. If they do not succeed that same word is passed on to the next team where the score starts from 6 and if they too cannot guess the word the third team gets to guess and the score starts with 3. If they too cannot gues the word then it is thrown open to the audience.

There is also a quiz question thrown up for that team relating to the word. The next team starts with a new word and the same process is followed. There is also the opportunity to raise the guantlet if the person who has to guess the word feels they can guess it at the first hint, adding a further score of 9. If they fail to guess after raising the gauntlet they lose 9 points and the word is aborted.

I got so interested in this game that I introduced it in our office and the game was played Departmentwise. Later we invited other companies marketing sim8ilar products and it became a huge hit. There were sixteen companies that took part.

I'm never heard of this gameshow unfortunately so I haven't played it either. But I did understand what the game was about because there was a similar game show in Friends when Joey had a chance to go on it and he just completely messed it up. It was a similar game show to what you described, where your partner was given a word and had to describe it to the other person without using that word.

I've never heard about this show, but I understand what's it like. We have something similar in my country too but I'm really not interested in things like these. It surely is pretty hard and the feeling of being on national TV would really ruin everything you prepared for. I don't think I'd like the experience.

Never heard of this game “What’s the Good Word." So this is a TV game? Which TV channel telecast this game? When I was young, I participated in quiz competition and spelling competition a couple of times and the finale of these competitions were showcased on TV. Sadly, my team never own those contests.

I must say that this must have been an interesting game for you in those days. Here in Nigeria, we had lots of games we played in our days such as "ncho" and others. One good thing I like about this game you narrated is that it can help the participants learn new words too.

I have never heard of this game before until now. It does sound like the type of game that I would enjoy. I have always enjoyed word games, they are my favorite. I think I would like to know more about this game so I am going good to Google it and see what I can find out about it. I really want to give it a try.

I've never heard of this game, so... I've never played it. But by the description of it, I find it to be a very interesting and fun game to play with family or friends and make some bets (not Money, of course) to raise the level of it, haha.

I have not heard of this game. It sounds like a game I would like. I have played a game called the initial game which was a bit like this game. I think that it sounds like one of the games that I would enjoy. It is one of the choices that I might want to look at in the future. I think it sounds like a super way to pass time with friends.

I have never played this game or heard about it! Not even once. Still we did use to play something similar around here. There would be a theme and people would need to guess the theme without saying a word, only mimic. Great game

Can't say that I have. I grew up playing hangman and tic-tac-toe in school and from there, video games.

When it comes to games, I am the guru in the family. During family gatherings, the younger people always call on me for games. And as usual, they expect prizes from me. I have a lot of games in my sleeves and the young adults and children were never disappointed because I always came for the occasion ready with my games. But I have yet to understand the game that is featured in this discussion. It is alien to me although it looks good for the camaraderie that it can create.

I have not. This is the time of the year when all the games are dusted for cobwebs and come out of the cupboards. I write when it is the season to be merry, the holiday season. This is the time when everyone is on holiday and everyone is relaxed and looking for fun activities. In our home we play scrabble and monopoly. We have played them for years but they never ever get old. I would be interested to find out more about this game.
