Family Christmas movie Comedy for the Family

Not much realistic near the end if you did the things in real life it would kill you

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Definitely voting for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Home Alone was one of my favorite movies as a child. I always wanted to be Kevin, be home by myself in a huge house and just have fun (this is when I was a child). I would always play and act like I was a rich little kid, who's parents left me in a huge house and just had fun with it. Home Alone is a great movie for kids, it was my favorite movie up into school which is odd since it is kinda geared towards kids but it was mine. I loved the christmas spirit in the movies, the directors and actors seem to catch that spirit really well. I have watched all the Home Alone movies, and the first one is by far my favorite. I believe they ruined it when they changed the actor, however the actor was much older so they had to find a replacement. The storyline is a bit childish, but it is fun to watch for both adults and kids. The parents would definitely get a kick out of the bratty little child.

This one

I haven't actually watched Gremlins. I know what it is about but I have never bothered to watch it really. But, Home Alone 2 is a totally different story. This is one of my favourite films, I just love the whole Home Alone series. I have probably watched the films from Home Alone about a hundred times in total. I don't even know how many times I have watched this particular one. I just love it so much.

I prefer Home Alone 2 Lost in New York 1992

I'm a big fan of the movie Home Alone. I think this was one of the films that marked my childhood in the 90's and there really is no comparison with other similar films. This film makes me relive the Christmas spirit and is one of the films that I like to watch over and over again.

Childhood favorite.

Gremlins is one of those movies that I think I may have seen once when I was a kid and then never watched it again. I never found the movie all that compelling or interesting, and I pretty much have no feelings of nostalgia towards it, despite it being a movie loved by most kids who grew up in the 80's and early 90's. On the other hand, I really love Home Alone 2 and have many fond memories of it. Just thinking about the music and heartwarming Christmas theme gives me tingly feelings of nostalgia and happiness.

Home Alone

Both Home Alone movies are a Christmas staple. To be honest I don't like Gremlins at all and I haven't even thought that it's a Christmas movie. Home Alone always makes me laugh and the one in New York is very Christmassy and as a kid I always wanted to see NY during Xmas.

not a fan of gremlins

I haven't watched Gremlins in full but it's just not my type of movie anyway. I prefer Home Alone because I feel it is more comfortable although I admit that the second one is a little worse than the first one. I could maybe give Gremlins another try in the future and maybe I will change my mind but I'm just not a fan of those types of movies so for now I'd have to vote for Home Alone 2.

Home Alone

I did watch all the movies of Home Alone when I was a kid and I do say that it's a great movie with a great lesson in life. It's a recommended movie for kids who are a little naughty and you want them to become aware of life and to teach them how to be a responsible as early as they can be. I'm not a fan of Gremlins since the effects are not so great, although, the story is what I can say, "good."

Home alone!

I will definitely vote home alone because I can watch it over and over again without getting bored. My siblings and I love watching it every Christmas time. This movie never gets old. Although it is dangerous to practice those traps and tricks at home, I never get enough of how those robbers get caught by every trap until the end.

The best comedy film for me

It was an obvious choice for me tho after I saw the choices. Home Alone 2 will always be one of my most favorite Christmas Comedy Movies because it's too funny and has a very good story line that families around the world can definitely relate to. Home Alone 2 may be a bit unrealistic because of how the child (Kevin) always escapes from the two burglars and how stupid those two acted as if they aren't adults, but I still love the movie because of how realistic it is in some aspects and again it's really funny.

Gremlins 1984

Gremlins 1984
Well, it's coming up for Christmas time in Kingston Falls, Randall Peltzer is an inventor but his inventions don't always work out well for him. While he visits China town he calls into an antique store as he needs to find the perfect Christmas gift for his son Billy. He comes across a cute furry little creature which is called Mogwai, but the owner Mr Wing will not sell and says it is not for sale.

But as he leaves the store Mr Wing's grandson sells Mogwai to Randall but also giving him very important rules which come with the responsibilities of having Mogwai. These rules are very simple and should keep to them never feed Mogwai after midnight, never expose Mogwai to bright lights as this can kill him and also don't let him get wet.

He arrives home with Mogwai, he presents him to his son Billy after they dim the lights first. Billy loves his gift and pet he calls Mogwai "Gizmo" which he seems to like the name as well. So the new pet "Gizmo" is loving his new home. After a while, he shows Gizmo off to his friends and girlfriend, which later when his friend Pete comes over and he accidentally spills water Gizmo spawns 5 other Mogwais.

Later on, he gives a science teacher one who experiments on one and pours water on one and spawns more. Billy later at home one of the Mogwais "strip" tricks billy in to feed them after midnight. By chewing the power cord which is on his clock in his bedroom. They end up eating and then turning into cocoons which when hatched they are mischievous and evil little monsters.

Will they get rid of them all in time while they are taking over the whole city and multiplying and getting out of hand. Causing mayhem and destruction.

comedy horror

even tho it is a family movie not sure about the younger generation

Loved Gremlins

I loved Gremlins. Yes they did scare me at the time but Gizmo was so stinking cute. We love Gizmo so much that we got a pink convertible toy car that year for Christmas and Gizmo was driving it. And a few years later when our dog had pups, we named one Gizmo. I think that this movie was such a classic. I would much rather watch it then Home Alone 2, which I really did not care for at all.

Love it

I have to go with the Gremlins! I have gotten quite bored with the Home Alone franchise because we get it every single Christmas and New Years. I have seen it over 5+ times and it has gotten boring now.

I much prefer Gremlins. I remember when I first saw the movie with my parents... it was so, so good. I even got gifted one of those Gremlin creatures for my birthday.

A great movie and very cute creatures until they turn evil, haha.

Gremlins Fan

I like Gremlins as it is a unique movie. I think they also spawned furbies the toy, however that came several years after the movie. I like Home Alone 2 and it is a good movie, but Gremlins is something that I really do like as well.

Gremlins - stars Gizmo

Of the two - I would definitely choose Gremlins - as apart from preferring the comedy horror theme and it being way, way less irritating than either of the Home Alone movies - the lead star was much more appealing and like-able overall - especially as Gizmo - is not only seriously cute but exceptionally clever too.

I love those creatures, haha.

"Home Alone" (the first movie) is timeless. The second is good, but not quite as excellent as the first. The same goes for "Gremlins"... The first is something extraordinarily original, the second, not so much.

So... Gremlins >>>>> Home Alone.

Easy Choice - Huge Gremlins Fan

I didn't like the first Home Alone. I don't even know why they made a sequel. The Gremlins I loved!! Not only did I like the little creatures but I liked all the supporting human characters as well. The Gremlins were pure fun entertainment.

GREMLINS is better imo than HOME ALONE, much less HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK. Granted, I love both movies and enjoy the franchise as a whole. But GREMLINS is a better movie mostly because I'm partial to horror.

I have heard of Gremlins, I may have watched this (because the name sounds very familiar) however, I don't remember watching this movie. Home Alone is my favorite movie from my childhood. This is till one of my favorite movies. Whenever I watch Home Alone, it gives me a good laugh.

You really need to watch Gremlins, if you haven't already. The story for sure will get you, and as a good one, it all starts so nice and quiet, but suddenly things turn upside down and you are having a lot of fun. Gizmo will win your heart, and you will learn what can happen when you do things you are told not to. Check it out, and you will see how good it is, you won't regret it.

Home alone, lost in New York is a typical family movie, I never get tired seeing this movie right from teenage days it has been one movie that NY family loves. I like the storyline and the humour that accompany a delight for a family watch anytime.

I haven’t watched gremlins but I would say Home alone 2 gives so much happiness to the watcher. I don’t know how many times I already watched it since I was a kid. There are lots of lessons you can learn from this movie and worth to watch.

Macauley Culkin is great in his portrayal of a smart and bratty boy in Home Alone. But this second episode is not just about the boy’s being smart in fighting the silly villains but there’s a lesson that is imparted. You cannot go wrong with generosity and it was clearly showed in the latter part of the movie. It is one great movie for Christmas that I terribly enjoyed. In fact, I had watched the rerun on tv twice already.

Home Alone 2 Lost In New York 1992. This sequel is one of the few that can be better than the original. Kevin's confusions in NY are hilarious and thieves are a lot funnier. Set to John Williams' soundtrack, flawless.

I prefer Home Alone. I think for many the Home Alone series is standard holiday viewing. This is definitely a movie you can watch again and again. Year in Year out. This is a feel good story at least in my humble opinion. I watched home Alone when I was young and still watch it with my kids. How cool is that! The Gremlins on the other hand is a scary movie especially for young children. When you watch it with our kids they get nightmares for days to come after watching it. I vote Home Alone.
Posted by jaymish on 04-10-2018
I like them both, but I think I will choose the Home alone, It was really funny, even the goons. I like all the home alone series and I think this the best movie for Christmas during that time.
Posted by ion on 05-25-2018
I would choose Home Alone 2 because it's more entertaining and it is such a good movie to watch during the Christmas season. Gremlins is also a good movie but it's not as good as Home Alone 2.
