How do you cope being stuck in traffic jam?
One thing that is very common with living in the urban city area is traffic jam especially during the morning working hours.

If you don't leave your house very early in the morning, you are definitely going to be stuck in traffic and probably be late for work or appointment.

Personally, I get seriously frustrated being stuck in traffic. How do you manage such situations?

I use WAZE app so that I won't get into traffic jams. If ever I do get in one and I'm really not in a hurry I'll park my car in a fast food place, restaurant, supermarket or mall until the traffic clears. It's better that way than burning petrol.

If I were to have my own car I would do the same. This is usually used by Grab or Uber drivers in our country. This app is a bit handy and quite reliable. Same as what the updated Google Map can offer to its users. Google Map has also this feature like Waze.

Oooooh I really had zero knowledge of this feature but I think that I will try and look for it so that it can hellp me in any struggles that I have of this kind.

If I were to also own a car and I would be stuck in a traffic, I think I would do the same. That's if I'm not in a hurry. But, I think, in our place it would really take hours to wait for the traffic jam to disperse. So, it would really be a long wait.

There are instances when the app would also not work for areas like my country where the drivers are very unruly and do not respect any other person that is using the same road.

nice nice. As long as the data is real time and will show you a statistic of traffic inflicted roads then it can be the best tool to run away from jams and delays especially when you have to rush somewhere.

Well, Traffic jams have almost become a part of our daily life, especially when you are living in a big city. The number of vehicles on the road is increasing day by day and the present infrastructure is not sufficient to cope with it. I guess the best thing that one can do is start early from your home and hope for the best. At least when you start early the chances of reaching your destination on time are more and it will also help in reducing the stress

The best thing is starting out early that what I do whenever I need to get to my destination on time. Traffic jam can be avoided if one is really smart about it.

I work from home but when I used to get stuck in traffic, as long as good music was on the radio, I was fine! LOL.

Even when there's no heavy traffic, most people listen to music. Some use it to calm their nerves while commuting while others use it to avoid small awkward conversations among passengers.

I used to watch movies most of the time to make myself busy and to keep my attention to the traffic. It is an effective way for me. Sometimes I reached my destinations even before the movie ends. Some people enjoy traffic when they are stuck in it with their crush or girlfriend.

It can also be entertaing and when you have like an album taht you have not listened to then this is always the perfect time to get it and get done with it.

Yes I remember listening to radio and many times radio folks used to tell if there is any specific traffic on some line. And that goes to show you that getting into traffic jam can be a bit harder on that note. I think people have to understand that part and realize it can be a good listening experience in such case.

When I get stuck in traffic, I usually get out of the car, walk a little bit or I listen to some music. I also tend to grab some soda or some juice and drink it. There are often many people around you who are also stuck. So whenever I get stuck I try to talk with people who are around me. Whenever I was stuck in traffic jam, I met some cool people and had great conversations with them. My father, on the other hand, gets nervous when we get stuck in traffic jam. I always try to calm him down but often without success.

When I get stuck in traffic, I use the idle time to view my FB account on my smartphone or squeeze in some work on my laptop. We always expect to be caught in traffic which has gotten worse with the onset of the holiday season. It's up to us to adjust or make the most of it. Some people I know use the time to catch up on sleep. That's what i used to do when I had to travel for two hours to go to work.

This can be risky though as you might get distracted by the photos, videos or stories that you see ending up in either a minor or major accident. It can only be effective when the traffic jam is so bad that it looks like a gridlock.

I try to let off some steam by listening to music or browsing the web on my phone. Sometimes the weather's not good or I have an appointment I have to attend, those are the situations that stress me the most while in a traffic jam, but generally I try to remain calm since stressing over it wouldn't really help.

It was also a good thing that I have my smartphone with me where I can browse, watch YouTube videos and listen to good music. They are very helpful to the point where I can forget my stress caused by the traffic.

That's the truth no need feeling frustrated because even the vehicle before you wouldn't even bulge even if one is dead tired behind the wheels.

It's hard being stuck in a traffic jam especially if you're running late for work. The worst part is when you're all alone with no one to discuss it with. In such scenarios, all I can do is sing to stay positive.

I have done the same thing. It was quite funny, because of the fact that there was nothing you could do but see the brighter side of things. I am not that alone for I have my co workers who are usually late at work.

I have tried on that scenario and tell you, it kind of frustrating it annoys me at the same time. Even if you tried listening to music you're frustrated as to when are we going to get away from traffic and I sometimes watch on my clock of how many minutes or hours am I late for my job.

Being stuck in a traffic jam in Lagos isn't funny at all. Infact you can was an album while in the traffic it that bad. A distance that should have taken just 10-15 mins will be taking 2 hours to get to. It is this terrible.

I live in a small city so I don't experience extreme traffic that much but when I do I automatically direct my attention to my phone and listen to music or browse Twitter. It's a good thing I was never late for work because of traffic.

I commute everyday and being stuck in a traffic jam is already normal for me. There are times when I leave my house 15 minutes later than the usual I would be about 30 minutes late in our office. When I leave my house for about 15 minutes than the usual I would be 1 hour earlier than the usual. The time is very much wasted here so I tend to leave just at the right time, the usual one. Unfortunately because of the traffic, I usually get late about 1 to 10 minutes. This is very frustrating.

That's the very frustrating thing about being stuck in a traffic jam, being late. Even though we really want to shout tell the drivers in our front, it would be useless because it's hard to control a traffic jam.

Traffic jams are our worst enemies when we are in a rush. But, when nothing's waiting for me and I am caught on a traffic jam, then, what I always do is going to my social media accounts. Even with the stressful traffic in front of you, you have to divert your attention into things that you enjoy so you'll not develop a heart problem. Haha

How do I cope up being stuck in a traffic jam? I live in a city where road traffic is a big problem because we have a lot of road repair projects. Being stuck in traffic is a big hassle and I hate it so much. I usually don't go out during rush hours and I avoid roads with a lot of traffic, but if I am stuck in the traffic I just usually wait for the traffic to end.

Different specialists talk about the chemical effects that occur in our body during this situation. The increase of neurotransmitters, such as noradrenaline, makes the person have physiological changes in their blood pressure, often raising the minimum and increasing the possibility of headaches and dizziness. Also, the heart rate can rise causing palpitations. Some muscles are compromised by the posture we hold while we are sitting or standing in a transport vehicle, thus pain at the cervical and lumbar level are frequent. If a trip that would normally take 30 minutes lasts an hour and a half, our mood can change rapidly in a negative way. Which means that we should look for a diversion to the mind (like checking social media, rocking out with music, reading a book) so as not to generate this chain of harmful effects.

Many of us have to face city traffic on a daily basis. This adds an extra percentage of stress to life, one that is not easy to handle since it is not up to us to avoid it. It's also possible that there are more car accidents due to fatigue: due to the desire to have our brain distracted, we resort to the use of smartphones, which is totally counterproductive.

Therefore, I always get up very early to avoid traffic completely. If I still get trapped, I have an excellent playlist of upbeat music that keeps me motivated and in good spirits.

Well, in my country, we've been suffering for a heavy traffic for a very long time and we were already used to it. It is part of our daily lives and the only way to cope up with it is to get prepare ahead of time like one or two hours and I brought anything that can entertain me while stuck on a heavy traffic. I usually just listen to music or browse my social media accounts or doing something on my part time jobs that I can do even on my smartphone.

This is a very relevant discussion here. Traffic jams take the life out of you away. I listen to songs in the car to keep up with the slow moving vehicles. I have my headphones plugged in when I am on the motorbike.

Traffic jam is a hassle that any office working individuals wanted to get rid of, most importantly during rush hours. In the Philippines, traffic concern seems to be a rampant case. I was just lucky enough that I was hired to work in a rural community that allows me to access public transport fast in going to work. However, when going to the city for seminars I find being stuck in a traffic irritating. One of my coping mechanisms are browsing through social media sites or watching videos and listening to music in order to kill time. I also make it profitable by doing freelancing job while using my phone, creating content or answering surveys.

In our country ww have a really bad traffic. So if you get stuck in a traffic jam it can take you hours before you get to go to you destination. It can be really boring and frustating. So i always have my earphones and powerbank with me so I can play my songs and not mind the long hours. If the traffic is really bad i tend to watch movies or series to pass my time. I hope our government will do something about traffic jam. So we dont have to be in this kind of situations.

It actually frustrates me whenever I am stuck in traffic. I am certainly wasting a lot of time. That's why I do a lot of things like checking my emails, reading books that I have to read, studying for a quiz at school, and even just scrolling through Facebook. Through this, I won't be bored and my time won't be wasted.

It's frustrating indeed when you are stuck on a traffic. So what I do, I play Homescape on my phone or if not, watch on Youtube or check my emails. With these I will not be bored or irate when I'm stuck on a traffic. Although I can not guarantee sometimes I won't get frustrated when I'm stuck on traffic especially when I have a class to attend to and I don't want to be late.

I feel so frustrated when I get stuck in traffic. It is a big problem here in my country. When I was living in the city, I always wake up very early and I have to travel earlier too or else, I would be very late. Whenever I get stuck in traffic, I used this time to read or listen to motivational music or speeches. I have a handy dictionary always with me.

I found that one of the best ways to deal with traffic is to get behind a truck, or just follow what the truckers do. They have their own radio frequency and often talk to one another, and thus can chose the best lane too be in (if for instance one of them closes soon...). Also it is good to keep your distance to the car ahead and instead of constant stop/go maneuvers, try to set a constant speed at which you move, even if it is 4-5 kph!

I do alot of my online jobs in traffic because I don't want to feel depressed because of staying in the traffic. Before I get home I would have completed some tasks l needed to complete online since I was enough time in the traffic.

I myself don’t actually drive at the moment because I haven’t earned my license in the country I’m currently living in, but I’ve definitely had to deal with traffic jams when commuting and carpooling with co-workers. My way of dealing with them? Meditation. It’s not so easy to do when you’re the actual driver of the car, but as a passenger, I find traffic jams to be the perfect opportunity to get some meditation into my daily routine. While the driver and passenger are chatting it up in the front, I just close my eyes, zone out, and meditate while we’re stuck in traffic. It’s a pretty great way to improve your patience and tolerance when faced with inconvenient situations.

I'm not the one that drives I'm usually just the passenger. What I usually do is play something on my phone. If that's not an option, I look for a good radio station and sing along. Getting stuck in traffic could be the most boring or most entertaining time of a person's life. Sleeping is out of the question because I only fall asleep when the car is moving, I find it hard to sleep in traffic.

I don't think I cope with being stuck in traffic. I absolutely hate being stuck in traffic. I have some kind of anxiety about it. I try to distract myself. I listen to all my favorite music, sometimes i listen to podcasts or audio books. The traffic in my Country is agony. You can be stuck in traffic for hours and hours. You can be stuck in a stretch that will take you 2 minutes for hours. In other Countries the traffic flows in My Country it does not.

I usually listen to the music and get rid of the stress. And some extent that helps out. I think on that note you can see that traffic jam can be handled for some people. Another thing is that stress removal seems to be harder for many people. In some cases it's better to pay attention to the traffic because often people drive the wrong ways.

In my country, traffic is part of our everyday life. It is extremely frustrating, but we have no choice but to look for ways to cope. Since I don't usually drive, as a passenger, it's either I sleep through the entire ride or listen to some good music to keep the travel more bearable. Chatting with other people in the car also helps.

Traffic is a real problem in our country. I usually avoid traffic by just taking the train rather than travel or commute by car. Besides, it saves me my time. Taking a train is easier and faster. But when traffic cannot be avoided or if I have no choice but to travel by car, I try to listen to a relaxing music to keep me calm and relaxed.
