How early is too early to begin the Christmas decorations?
I know Christmas is the time of year for many where they look forward to celebrate the season with gifts and food and decorations. When exactly is the appropriate time to begin decorating the yard and decking the halls and trees? Is it a family or community decision? Do you wait for the signs of the season, like perhaps the first Christmas Carol on The radio or for those who live in a cold climate the first snowflake or the onslaught of social media calibration from shopping stores deals to Christmas decors on the websites and even TV stations? When is your ideal time to decorate and is there such a thing as starting the decorations too early?

We normally start buying the decorations in November. We don't like the last minute rush. In my country by mid November people start preparing for Christmas. You will also find many items on sales. We start decorating the house at the start of December. Christmas is now another commercial festival. Sellers just try to convince customers to buy things they don't really need.

Anytime before December is too early. In the good old times, the towns and cities weren't decorated in the middle of November. Nobody went out and bought the decorations, presents, or set up a tree a month in advance. I hate that and I never do it. It's far too commercial and the shops only want to increase their profit. My family starts decorating a week or so before Christmas. We don't do anything over the top either - just very homey and cozy.

I agree with you, nowadays everyone will just run and buy decorations and everything immediately, it almost looks like Christmas is in the middle of November. We usually start decorating things in my country around December, and that's the way it should be.

How early to begin buying Christmas decorations or how early to begin putting them up? Well to how early to buy them you should probably buy it sometime in the Summer if possible since it may be the cheapest at about that time and less competition. For putting it up I would say if you haven't put up that little Christmas countdown calender on your door yet, then you probably shouldn't be putting up any decorations externally though I'm pretty sure no one would mind if you put up some stuff in your house before December or even never took it down from last year.

I think that any time before the first of November is too early to start decorating for a Christmas. There is nothing wrong with Christmas shopping all year though. It is good to be prepared for it a head of time so that you are not so stressed for the holiday season. I usually start to decorate around mid November. I love Christmas and all the beautiful lights and decorations and all the hustle and bustle that goes with it. It is my favorite time of the year.

I think anything before the mid November is a bit too early. After the mid November people can get started with the purchase and the decoration. I have seen people bringing the tree. Some people bringing the fake tree. So it all can make sense. And you can see that this type of the celebration does make sense. We just have to understand how the different people have their own routine.

We tend to have our Christmas tree up on the 1st of December. That's when we start decorating the house to make it ready for Christmas and start doing a bit of shopping as well. Anything before the 1st of December is just too early for us. I know that a lot of stores get ready right after Halloween but it just feels weird shopping for anything Christmas related that early. In terms of presents, we tend to buy them a bit late, maybe around the 15th of December.

Over here, there are people who are ultra excited over Christmas that when September comes in, they start decorating their home. My take on the topic is that let other holidays happen and be celebrated or observed. Can you imagine some houses with decorations of Halloween and Christmas? That is silly. The best time to decorate is late November or early December.

Some people start the christmas preparation as early as November to begin their christmas decorations while for others they start when it is two weeks to christmas time.
Posted by babyright on 10-29-2017
It is definitely early. Over here the first flashing lights and Christmas decorations usually come along when December begins and not before that. Let's not forget that there is Thanksgiving waiting for us before Christmas still
Posted by Marvadaum on 10-29-2017
I normally break mine out around 3 weeks before Christmas day. They're all usually up two weeks before Christmas, and come down two days after January 1st. I know some people who put them up right after Thanksgiving. That's way too early for me.
Posted by NickJ on 10-29-2017
I believe if one start any preparation from the first week of December is not too early or late, I believe it would just be the appropriate time.I know people love Christmas period and can't just wait for it but starting too early wouldn't make sense because before the period is here the excitement must have worn out,so it good to start at the appropriate time to keep the excitement tempo high.

I guess it all depends on what you plan to prepare for Christmas. If you plan to have a great party, you should definitely prepare a few months before. Here in my country it is very common to see the preparations begin at the end of October. However, I have seen prepatives begin before that. The trade usually exaggerates and usually they are already talking about Christmas at the end of August. Either way, it all depends on your intensity.

The best time is at least 2 weeks before Christmas day. My mom used to make us to put up the fake Xmas tree, wrap up empty gift boxes, decorate the tree with cotton buds, ornaments and lightnings. it was a dreaded job but she insisted. Then she would leave the tree there for another one month before disassemble it.

I am not a Christain, therefore, I don't celebrate Christmas. However, when I get an invitation to Chrismas parties, I always make sure to attend Christmas parties. Since we don't celebrate Christmas, there will be no Christmas decoration in my home. Christmas is a holiday in my country because the country law recognizes Christanity. For me Christmas is just a one day leave.

Anything before December 10th would be considered way too early where I live.

As apart from the fact that - we don't celebrate Christmas in the same way as other western countries here and even when we do its not celebrated in a commercial way - but is a low key family orientated affair with all the festivities centered around the children - that doesn't involve having days of large feasts, receiving lots of gifts or decorating homes with Christmas trees, lights or any other kind of decoration.

Our Christmas traditions are really very simple and generally only ever start with a celebration of the beginning of the Christmas season on

December 10 - which is not only the day when town squares are decorated with elaborate nativity scenes - made by the local children - and when the very subtle Christmas lighting - normally in the form of snowflakes or stars - is switched on.

But its also the day when Christmas shopping traditionally starts - which as this is usually celebrated with the arrival of Medieval Christmas Markets in most towns and villages - and the stall holders - selling artisan Christmas products from years gone by - are all dressed in medieval Christmas attire - it really adds a festive atmosphere to shopping and the lead up to Christmas.

It's traditional to begin on the 1st December and that includes sending out cards unless it is to people abroad. I know people like to dress the house up with lights and to make the most of them, and I find those quite annoying with the flashing to be honest. I think the stores have to plan it towards the middle of November if they have a Father Christmas so most people in the US do it after Thanksgiving in the home.

It's never too early for me. I actaully start planifiying my christmas decoration in november or earlier. I'm one of those "crazy" people who get the tree in the middle of november and has everything set for the first days of december. Christmas is my favorite holiday and since I love the season that much I like to start early with it. Christmas decoration is serious thing for me.
Posted by Pink_Turtle on 10-31-2017
Most people start decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving.
Posted by cmoneyspinner on 11-01-2017
Yes I have noticed that too. Also I have seen some people doing that after 1st december. And for each different family it could be different. I have seen some who do that 10 days before christmas. So it definitely is different for each family that I have seen so far.

Here at home we will begin preparations in the middle of November. I think this is an ideal time to organize gifts, effects, travel and other preparations for the end of the year. If you're going to have a big party, I think it's best to start the preparatory work at least in early November.
Posted by hermessantos on 11-04-2017
Honestly, when I was a child, you never really saw Christmas decorations being put up until after Thanksgiving. Now it seems like everyone is in a rush to get their decorations up. I think Mid Novemember is the earliest you should see Christmas decorations and preferably waiting until after Thanksgiving is ideal. I don't know if anyone has Christmas decorations up now,,but the stores have been ready for weeks..They probably can't wait to crank up their Christmas sound systems!
Posted by kgord on 11-08-2017
When it comes to supermarkets I just hope they won't start decorating things for Christmas before Halloween. It seems like November is Christmas season now. I prefer that people start decorating in December, maybe two weeks or so before the Holidays. When the season starts too early it doesn't even look as Christmas because the weather still is autumnal.

Too early, in my country people start to decor their houses and stores in October. To me, in my house, we decor late because there is no kids. The kids that were in my family they already grew and those "kids" have their own kids. We start to decor in December becasue my nephews and my niece come to my house to spend Christmas. I have distant relatives who start christmas in earlier because they have kids and I think that is so great because, to children, Christmas is awesome because of the gifts and the food so, they enjoy more Christmas than adults.
Posted by cubo on 11-25-2017
That's something we do too, actually we just started decorating our house just now, because there ain't no kid in our house anymore we're grown up and kind of not really feeling the Christmas like we used to when we were just a kids but really we wanted to decorate it earlier but then we are so busy and kind of lazy to put it.

I think that decorating for Christmas should wait until the very end of November. Even the very start of December would be perfect. I really do not like hearing Christmas music in the shopping centres and on the radio starting 1 November. People haven't even put Halloween to bed yet and Christmas is already being shoved in our faces! I understand that places of business do it to get the gift giving season into our brains to help drum up sales, but it seems to me they are trying to make the season longer to increase sales even more so. The earlier holiday shopping starts, the more time folks have to change their minds and find "just one more" gift for someone. In our house we wait until after my husband's birthday in the middle of the month before setting up our tree. I know the kids would have the tree up all year if we allowed, but it makes sense for him to want to wait until his birthday is over. For years he's had to open birthday gifts in Christmas wrap, or he'd have to wait until Christmas to open his birthday gift for whatever reason. People with birthdays during the rest of the year usually get to celebrate their birthday without having a holiday outshine a day that most people get to call special for themselves. We respect that for him.

As early as you can, you may start it the month of October or November . But it depends upon a person whether she or he feel already Christmas days so she or he may start decorate his house. No one can avoid her or him because that is what he or she want to do and that's about her or his feelings.

Everyday is considered as a Christmas but it is not okay if you have a Christmas decoration every day. That's kind of weird things so you can start decorating your home maybe the last week of November as long as before Christmas you already have that decoration.
Posted by mar06 on 01-20-2018
For me, I would have to say that the first week of December is okay to start decorating the Christmas trees and all that which is a way to let everyone around us know that the season of celebration is near! During the last Christmas celebration, I ensured that I was around the home to help with setting up the Christmas tree around that period and it is fun when you use as a way to countdown to the main day of the celebration.

In my country, Philippines, we start to countdown at the beginning of September. So in that month, the malls started to sell christmas decorations, there will be some shops who will start to decorate their place and there will be a discount for Christmas and stuff. Then starting November, the houses will started to light up because of the christmas lights and there will be christmas tree that will stand tall in the houses. I think we have the longest christmas preparation in the world, however, that makes our country unique regarding Christmas celebration.
Posted by vivalavanda on 03-31-2018
We start decorating by mid november. But in the past, about 30 years ago radio stations would play one Christmas song every morning in my country in September 1, it signals the "Ber" months, it's also the "Windy Season" or "Fall"here in the Philippines, sadly we don't have this season anymore because of global warming, the last time I remembered having this season was in 1987. and some families start decorating their houses in September but just a little, and after the holoween, Christmas decorations are in place.
Posted by Kakashi2020 on 04-03-2018
In our culture here in our country, we start decorating our home with Christmas decorations as early as 100 days before the exact date of the celebration. If we already decorating months ahead from that 100 days then we can consider it too early to start decorating our homes.
Posted by mitan143 on 04-16-2018
In our country, it is not considered too early to decorate by the start of September. People here are usually used to start hearing Christmas Carols on the radio, seeing Christmas decorations in stores and houses once the "-BER" months hit (SeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER, DecemBER). So it would just depend on which country you are in to consider which is early and not. But for us, any month with a "Ber" on it is never too early.

That is true. Philippines celebrates Christmas early as September. I believe that Philippines has the longest celebration of Christmas in the world. People started buying christmas tree, lights and lantern and decorate it inside and outside their houses. Christmas carols started playing in the radio. Children started caroling every houses by November till December. Everyone are really excited for this kind of holiday season.
Posted by mark86 on 10-22-2018
It is now August and in a couple of days, it will be SeptemBER which is the start of BER months. In my country, people start decorating their homes in September. The Philippines is known for celebrating the longest Christmas holiday in the world. Everyone is so excited for the Christmas day to arrive. There are a lot of sales in all shopping malls and expect the heaviest traffic on the road.
Posted by NesMarcos on 08-14-2018
We started christmas decorations in our house as early as September. Christmas in the Philippines is early as the earliest I think in the world. We love to make our christmas tree stand out and have many different christmas decorations. We also have a motiff every year so every year we have different colors and designs that needs to follow.
Posted by mark86 on 09-25-2018
Normally we started to buy decorations if the ber month started. So I think if you starts decorating before ber month it is too early.
Posted by nrnlss on 10-30-2018
We usually start with decorations in the last week of November/the start of December. I've seen that getting progressively earlier from some people I know, but it doesn't bother me. If it makes people happy to get into the festive spirit early, then who am I to judge!
Posted by amelia88 on 11-08-2018
How early is too early to begit yhe christmas decoration: Base in my observation the most early is when the ber months starts "the september". Even there's still a hollowen in november that some of people do celebrate i can say that some of the christmas decoration was already install in different houses and establishment. We prepare most for christmas than other occassion or events.
Posted by mhingnhormz on 11-22-2018
In my country, some people started decorating on September. Christmas for us is a very important holiday. It is the time of giving and the birth of Jesus. As for my family, decorating depends on the budget. If we have enough money to buy decorations, then we buy. But if not, we will just put a star outside our home on November.
Posted by Alymae on 11-24-2018
Maybe if you start putting decorations in August then that should be considered early decorations but the thing is it doesn't matter as long as you're happy with your life seeing those decorations earlier than it should be decorated, then it's all good.
