How to attach images on Superior Than Using Markdown Syntax Code
I've noticed a lot of people using images in their posts on here, VS, debates, questions etc, but aren't correctly inserting the image so that it shows up. They're just putting a link/URL to that image instead. This then shows as a hyperlinked URL in the post and doesn't show the actual image itself. So here I would like to explain a little about how to actually do that!

Superior Than uses Markdown syntax code. Markdown syntax is very similar to BB code if you've ever used that. You'll be family with using Markdown syntax. I wont show a lot here as you can find Markdown syntax cheat sheets all over the web. But here we'll show some of the basics for using on ST such as embedding images and anchor text links.

Embedding images.

If you want to embed an image in your post. So that it shows the actual image itself and not just a link to the image.

![Minion](http://octodex.github.com/images/minion.png)

This will show up like this Minion

The word you put at the front will be the ALT text for it.

Hyperlinking Text

If you want to link to some text as the anchor link you would need to use this Markdown syntax

[I'm an inline-style link](https://www.google.com) [I'm an inline-style link with title](https://www.google.com "Google's Homepage") [I'm a reference-style link][Arbitrary case-insensitive reference text] [I'm a relative reference to a repository file](../blob/master/LICENSE)

So to link to the words "Superior Than" in a sentence. I would use the first inline-style link Superior Than.

If you'd like to learn more Markdown syntax code. Check out this Markdown Cheatsheet

It shows you how to do much more such as;

  • Headers
  • Emphasis
  • Lists
  • Links
  • Images
  • Code and Syntax Highlighting
  • Tables
  • Blockquotes
  • Inline HTML
  • Horizontal Rule
  • Line Breaks
  • Youtube videos
Hopefully, after this post, Superior Than will be much more prettier looking! :D

It is evident that you are into programming and if I am not mistaken, this is web programming(HTML5,CSS etc), that's very cool because I love and adore programming a lot. Thanks for the exposure, I would definitely try it next time I wanna post.

Hi Selfrevealing thanks for your comment, not really though no. Not really a programmer. But a forumer for years yes. I just thought it was worth mentioning so people would actually know that SuperiorThan uses Markdown code to add styling elements to posts. The more people that know about it and how to use it then the more functional the site is for the users and the prettier the posts will be. Well in theory anyway. ;)

idealmicky, when it comes to computer stuff, I might be a slow learner. Despite the simple English with which you wrote this insightful post it still sounds like foreigh tongues to me, perhaps I might need a step by step tutorial from you. Hope you don't mind helping a novice?

Are you trolling me Bola or you're serious? I can't tell lol. Why does it sound like foreign tongues. One would think that you can already read and understand English since you are speaking it here? In any case Bola I've provided a link above in the post where you can find step by step instructions for using Markdown code in your SuperiorThan posts above. Or here if you are feeling really lazy since the the link is not visibly obvious unless you hover over it. Anyway its all only one step anyway. Just use the code in your posts as explained. Simples no? :)

this is very cool, i never thought about that though my images always shows but this looks more cool as i can now add images to my posts and also make it look more understandable and appealing to the eye. What if i need to add a short video do you think it will be possible or not because some post needs a video to help give a better understanding and for all to be of a clear view of what the topic is all about. SO id=f their is a way this could be possible i will wish it is explained for all to be able to make use of it too.

@prosperevergreen YouTube videos can't be embedded and play in the page. But you can link to an image such as the videos image with a link to the video. Instructions for doing it can be found on the site link provided. But if it helps and you're feeling lazy lol this is the code you'll need;

IMAGE ALT TEXT HERE

Example of it in use. Markdown: inserting code samples

Cheers! Mikey.

Oh yes Mikey, this is just too higher grade for me at this time of night LOL. I was wondering the other day whether there was a way to add images within a post or comment here and well now I know there is... I will try and figure this out in the morning. Coding things should be avoided at night for me!

Thank you for the guide. I was a little stumped at which engine was being used for the HTML markup of the post and now I know!
