Is China aiming to conquer the Moon?
China's been quite interested in the moon lately, sending a lot of probes and unmanned lunar rovers to take photos of the terrain and to do some tests. With its expansionist tendencies some are beginning to think that they might be interested in conquering it and making it an extension of their counyry. I do think that's what they're planning.

China has been aggressive in their claims of the territories in South China Sea which resulted in conflict with other Asian neighboring countries who also have claims in that area. I hope that they will succeed in their exploration that will lead them into migration to the moon.

I also hope the same too. Gone are the days when we used to marvel at people who made it to the moon first, or did they? Haha

If China invades the moon then it will be an advantage to all of us. China of the earth and the moon will be a great idea. I think I like it.

Well, knowing China, they don't give up when they see a place that they want to have like the Scarborough Shoal. So, getting into the moon would be possible for them. I have nothing against it since no one is living there and they can't control the moon. Haha. Let them be.

Let them beat America at their own game. I think I feel like relocating to the moon. I would feel happy staying there and getting a title deed for my land there

I hadn’t heard much about any China moon plans - I feel like I hear more about them trying to conquer Asia than anything about non earthly pursuits. I don’t know what’s worth conquering on the moon though - it’s a giant dusty space rock!

Which Asian country will like to be conquered by China? China should conquer itself first. Maybe they are gearing to become a superpower. Will it make it? I think with back-up from all other Asian countries then it will make it.

I think moon is not someones property. And it is not going to be property of someone. China may try and claim the ownership. But it may take like so many years. it can be really hard for things to work around. Another thing is that moon does not have any air so it can be pretty hard to be living in the vaccum. So I think china better spend the money for mars projects.

It looks so. They have been investing heavily on space science and technology. China is dominating other nations in the quest to reach the moon and to Mars too. They are already planning a manned mission to mars permanently so you can have an idea of how advanced they are.

Paradoxically, the exploration of the Moon promotes both cooperation and international competition. Even if a country does not have its own space program, it can develop mechanisms that fly in spaceships built and established by other nations.

They have the technology to explore the moon. I think they want to have their own studies about the moon. And maybe they want to find out what technologies can they create that will help humans stay on the moon for a longer period of time. Or even make the travel time back and forth to the moon and earth faster than the others did.

Yes, I do believe China is aiming to conquer the moon. This the battle between the supremacy of the two super-powered countries. China recently is very aggressive in claiming some territory in the south china sea so I would not be shocked if China is planning to conquer the moon and I do believe they have the technology and the resources to achieve this project.

There are a lot of incentives to want to settle on the Moon. For example, helium-3 (an isotope of the helium element) abounds on the Moon and is rare on Earth. It is a potential fuel for nuclear fusion and an almost limitless, non-polluting energy source. China, in particular, has shown great interest in the helium-3 of the Moon.

It's quite simple really if and when Chinese astronauts land in the moon they'll just stick a flag into some location and they would start claiming it as their territory and no one can do anything about it. Then they'll build structures on it and expand until they've claimed a sizeable portion of it. Then they'll probably mine it and colonize it first.

The economic and geopolitical competition is due to the fact that the Moon is still considered as an unrecognized territory and cannot belong to any country. After space and Moon subject has been largely ignored in recent decades, space exploration is once again propelling technological development, inspiring collaboration between science and engineering, as well as creating national pride.
