Is it Ethical for Amazon to Sell Lethal Knives Like this and Should they Be Banned from Doing So?
I remember back in the day, you used to be able to walk into your local super market, or even high street store, and pick up knives on the side and hold them in your hand to see if you like them or not. You can't do that these days. Due to the massive increase in knife crime, stabbings, robberies and murders, knives are locked away behind a glass or metal display cabinet. They usually have security packs on them as well to prevent people from stealing them. That's simply due to all the knife crime that's taking place across America and even in the UK.

This is the Jagdkommando Titanium Tri-Blade Knife. Jagdkommando Titanium Tri-Blade Knife

This knife has been designed to do one thing. Kill. The way it's designed, if you was to be stabbed by this knife, even if it was in the arm or the leg, you would not be able to stop the bleeding and you would bleed out and die in about 20 minutes time. Even if paramedics got to you in time, they would have a very hard time stemming and stopping the blood from pouring out of your wound due to the way there are 3 blades that are twisted and that would cause a twisting effect by just stabbing alone which is what they are taught to do in the army, stab and twist - to open the wound even more, prevent blood clotting and cause the victim to bleed out and die within about 20 minutes time.

This is no "novelty" item! This is an instrument of death! This knife is designed to do one thing and do it well, cause serious fatal harm to whoever is stabbed with it. This knife shouldn't even have ever been made! This knife should NEVER be for sale on a place like Amazon! Let alone anywhere! This knife should be black listed from the market and banned everywhere.

But you can buy this knife on Amazon right now for $524.30 with free shipping. There are also very similar knives to this for sale on Amazon right now.

As you can see, from the product detail page itself saying "Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed"

Amazon Knives

Why on earth anyone would want to buy a knife like this is beyond me! I understand that people might want to protect them selves, or feel more secure in their home. But I wouldn't want to have a knife like this lying around. Not only is it just dangerous to have around, but it could end up being used against you in a struggle.

If you are stabbed by this knife, it's game over. There's no gauzing, no bandages, no swabbing that's big enough to stop the blood flow from the injuries this knife can cause.

There's no stitching up your wounds, quite simply, if you are stabbed by this knife, it's good night.

Now why do Amazon feel the need to stock and sell knives like this?

Is it ethical for Amazon to do that since knife crime is such a serious issue?

Do Amazon really need the money that much that they need to sell an item like this?

I think it's absolutely disgusting and they should be boycotted and banned from selling knives like this!

I also think it's highly insensitive to all those victims and families of victims of knife crime.

I think it's unethical, stupid and downright ignorant.

I think it's unethical and they should be banned from the market.

What's your opinion?

In all honesty, even though I agree with you on several points.. If Amazon doesn't sell these knifes, others will and others do. I don't think it really matters actually. If someone wants a knife, then they'll get one within a blink of an eye. It's very easy to find weapons as knifes, swords and even guns in various stores and online. That being said, I do believe that they should stop selling them and I hope others will stop selling them too. If everyone stopped selling them, then it would be a little bit harder to find them, and that's at least something for starters. - Why they feel the need of selling them? - Probably due to money. Money is always the most important thing for companies like this.

Ethical or not? - Depends on how you see it. I'd say it is ethical as basically everyone are doing the same thing but I don't support it and I don't like it.

Thanks for your comment Andre, I get what you're saying and I appreciate that - that Amazon sell them because they can. Because they can make money from it. But there are literally a billion+ things they can sell on Amazon to make money from. And instruments of death shouldn't be one of them in my opinion. Not when more and more young people are dying from stab wounds, gang crime, muggings and the like. And this is no ordinary knife, this knife is designed to kill with one stab. And I respect that people should be able to defend their selves. But that's what gun licenses are for. I just don't like it! I think it should be removed. Shame on Amazon for selling this knife! Shame on them!

Amazon is the biggest online store, therefore, it matters what kind of things Amazon sells. As the biggest online seller, Amazon has some corporate responsibility. It should not sell items such as knife. If making money is the main concern, it can even start selling items such as firearms, drugs, or alcohol. When Amazon does this, it will lose trust from its loyal customers.

I must say that it should be fine to sell lethal knives like this on Amazon since you can't find a unique or special knife like this one to any store out there since I believe that it's only available from other countries. I will definitely buy one for display at our home or for protection just in case there's an intruder in our house. I'm a fan of different kinds of knives and sword/samurai with a special/unique design.

Well, it is quite a difficult thing to describe whether these things are actually harmful to sell or not. Because most people who buy these things up are just some type of collector or hobbyists who want to collect a 200 year old knife. Which is actually just a copycat of the original thing. But on a serious note not everyone is a serial killer.

I don't see why not. All households already have knives and if someone really wanted to get their hands on something sharp they can do it without having to wait for the delivery from Amazon, so I would assume that most of these people who are ordering knives just probably want to collect or want something to open their boxes or letters with. It's not like it's difficult to buy a knife so I don't see why Amazon should stop just because a few "might" use it for bad things.

Well stated, a murderer doesn't need to use any weapon or knife, most kills with their bare hands and moreover, there are dangerous weapons everywhere at home. I think harsh punishment for perpetrators will suffice.

Every shopping online site have the right to sell whatever they desire to sell. It's up to the buyer to decide whether to buy or not buy whatever that's been sold on the online shopping sites. I practically do not see anything wrong with selling such knives in Amazon and even thinking about having it banned sounds absurd.

Well different strokes for different folks it all depends on what the buyers need it for and we can't just blame the sellers as well but I by totally understands your point.I think there should be punishment for wrong usage than banning the sales of it.

I think knives and other lethal weapons shouldn't be sold in Amazon and eBay because I agree with what you stated that theres actually no good or correct reason to buy such a knife. It means that these knives and weapons could induce peoples violent tendencies that would lead to violence and crimes.

The issue of the knife shouldn't be put only upon Amazon. I love your question of why people would even want to buy such a knife in the first place. Well, it could be for self defense, and it could be to "kill" as you said is the major reason such a knife has been designed. But if Amazon should be questioned for buying and stocking such a knife, I think we should also ask "why would someone design such a knife?". From the customer who buys it, to Amazon that stocks it, and to the one who designed it; we get to ask the why behind them having something to do with such a lethal weapon.

But let's look at an instance. Assuming this knife was designed and mass produced, marketed by Amazon, but at the end wasn't bought by the people; Amazon will stop stocking it, and eventually, it won't be produced again. So here is the why behind Amazon buying and stocking this knife —there's a producer to produce, and there's a buyer to buy. Let any of these change and chances will be that Amazon won't have this knife in stock any longer

I believe that it is not appropriate to sell like that kind of pointed object not just in Amazon but all online shop. The rules and regulation of Amazon should enhance and put it ban in their page because I am strong believe that it is not ethical at all. They must put restrictions about it.
