Is your passion helping you earn your livelihood?

Is your passion helping you earn your livelihood?
Not everyone is fortunate to be able to say "All this and heaven too" Only those who have found a job that involves their passion could say that.

Most of us just grab any job that sustains us and provides us our daily bread. But that does not mean we should stay put there. It is always good to look around to see if there are jobs that can go along with our passion. Many succeed. I know of someone who changed his course from a sailing job to that of an architect. As designing was his passion.

I could say that about me as well. I had that 9 to 5 job which I had to cling on to as I needed money. I did not like what I was doing. But when situations improved - thanks to my husband holding a remunerative job I decided to quite that job and grabbed the opportunity when I was asked to design a garden. Gardening is my passion. I noticed there was a spring in my step each morning I got up looking forward to the job that was waiting for me. My creativity came to the fore and when I completed that assignment my joy had no limit looking at what I had done. I could then say “All this and heaven too”

As they say that one should strike the iron while it is hot. That is what one is expected to do. Just wait for the opportunity to grab it. There is no doubt an element of risk as some would say “Bird in hand is worth two in a bush” But what is life if one is not prepared to take risks. It is only those who have taken risks climb the ladder of success.

Does your job make you say “All lthis and heaven too”

No, my passion is baking, cooking, sewing and drawing but none of them are helping me to earn any money online. I had tried to put my service at Fiverr and other sites but no order. Instead article writing which isn't my passion had been earning me money for the past 8 years. I write for earning money , not my passion at all.

Baking and cooking is not my passion but those are the skills that I also want to learn because for me it could help me to earn money. You can bake cookies, cakes, or pastries and sell it to your neighbours or office mates.

We have a family friend who loves to bake. She was working in a big company and earning a good salary. A few years back she was baking some pastries and cakes for fun until she has been getting orders from friends. When the orders were piling up she decided to make baking her full time job. Now she is happy with her business and she is earning more than her salary when she had an office job.

Yes it does. Aside from working as IT instructor, I'm also earning through my passion in web development and computer programming. Recently I just became passionate about blogging and I'm still on the process of learning so this new passion of mine does not help me earn yet.
Posted by vhinz on 11-16-2017
It doesn't really, but it's not like I focus on it earning me money. I mean, every skill can beneficial and it can earn you money as long as you are good at it, so it's not something that you should focus on, but improving. If you are good enough at it, there's nothing bad in earning some money with it.

I understand that having the skills to do the work can make things work well for us. Those skills can make us earn money, but sometimes we can't really quantify how much our skills are really worth.

i have not yet started earning from my passion which is online business instead i am still earning offline. But i wont give up until i see that my passion now begins to earn me more so that i can quickly retire from offline work.

I began writing at the age of 15, when I was 20, I published my first book. By the time I was 23, I was already publishing articles in the major newspapers in the country. When my works began to appear in gthe print, I dreamed about becoming a writer. I was so passionate about writing that after I completed my university education, I did not join job market, instead I decided to freelance. Writing is my passion, it is earning my livelihood.

Quite an achievement you've got from the passion to write. It's understandable when people are afraid to take huge risk, but not taking risk at all can be disheartening. This is where I commend you for doing what you did which is to write.
Posted by Barida on 11-17-2017
I think I took a lot of risk by not pursuing a regular job and continue to work as a freelance writer. I was earning well them. However, my friends who joined the job market are earning twice more than I, however, I am satisfied because I am living my dream.

My job pays my bills. It is a job but it os not my passion. I have been doing it for a very long time so i can not see myself going anywhere else but I do not really like it. I always give 110% of myself but I am just not passionate about it. I wonder what it would feel like to have a job that you look forward going to every day and love what you are doing.
Posted by Sue on 11-16-2017
I would advise you start saving up funds to build up a business on the passion you have. It might not be easy at the beginning, bit giving that a try can be real good for you at the end. I can't be involved in a business that I lack passion on and give my all, it's always hard.
Posted by Barida on 11-17-2017
Not really no. I love many things and used to love my work also until I got tired of it. Nowadays working is mostly an obligation and I do what I really like in my spare time
Posted by Marvadaum on 11-16-2017
Try to rediscover the passion you had for the job you did and it's always good to have that desire too. O wouldn't advise you to quit for it might result in you not getting a better job at the end of everything.

It's helping me earn a sizable income on the side but I have a day job for my livelihood. It's not a job I LOVE but a job I like and feel little to no stress performing at every day.
Posted by NickJ on 11-16-2017
I've been passionate about writing and I'm glad that I became a freelance writer for it has helped me improved on many aspects of my life which is quite good for me. I am not into writing for the money alone for it is what I enjoy doing.
Posted by Barida on 11-17-2017
Not at all. I'm passionate about cooking vegetarian dishes and camping in the woods. And guess what- my primary source of income is my job at the office which does not even come close to what I really wanted to do.

I always wanted to be a tutor but unfortunately, due to the lack of jobs in my country, it was impossible for me to become one. I worked at two companies as customer representatives and that's a job that I really hated. After careful consideration, I left my full-time job and started working online. Today I work as an online tutor and I earn a decent amount from this.

Absolutely! I have a deep passion for video and photography, and I was lucky to discover this passion early in my college career, so I was able to steer my education into a degree that directly works with my passions. I do video and photography for marketing purposes for a small college near my city, and it's honestly great. I really enjoy what I do, and I'm glad I could incorporate my passions into my every day life. I worry that I'm getting burned out on my work sometimes, but I always tell myself it's better than the alternative: working somewhere where I dread going into work.

I would say that it kinda helps me make a bit of money. I love writing. I have been writing since I was a kid. It was a hobby of mine to write some short stories and essays. Now, I have a couple of websites wherein I put my content. My passion helps me write different articles for my website. In a way, my passion allows me to make money via adsense. I also love using technology. I enjoy editing my websites and writing articles for my websites. I do hope that my websites will boom in order for me to be able to quit my day job and to make a living mainly from my passion of writing. It would be a dream come true if that would happen.

Well, writing has sort of turned into my passion. It was cultivated through the need of wanting an extra source of income. Now, however, I use it as a means to express my thoughts, attempting to create high-quality articles that people enjoy reading on my website. Not only am I earning an income from my website. I also freelance for people looking for writers. So technically, one of my passions aid in supplying an income for my livelihood. My primary passion is skateboarding, along with photography and videography (because they all three go together). I've always enjoyed action sports and I'm good at them. Ideally, it would be nice to earn a living from my passion. At the same time, I have no problem funding it through my career.

I know that doing your passion as a job is great because you don’t feel like working. That’s what I hear from writer friends particularly those who write movie scripts. They enjoy their job since writing is their passion. But for me, I have been working in the bank for many, many years and since I am happy with it then maybe my passion is there somehow. Isn’t it great to earn good money even if you don’t like the job? Perhaps you will begin to like it when the big money comes in.

I am semi lucky on this. I am doing what I like. But I am not earning what I am supposed to. So that does bite a bit. And also it has given me some hard time due to that. But I like spending my time on IT related jobs. And it seems to be earning me some really good output so far. I'd say on that note it'd be really a good option for many. You can see that earning living does not remain same for all.

Lately i started to like researching about random things that i find interesting. Then I realized that it's my passion because I love learning and luckily we have the technology to make it easier for me. So does it help me to earn a living? No, because my work as an office clerk is more on paper works. But still, I love searching the net to find answers and to learn new things.

Yes, my passion for writing is now finally starting to pay of. This took many years, and a lot of determination on my part, but i stuck to my dreams, and I have just gotten out my second book on a small press. I've been doing readings, and the book is selling out at every one of them. Also, I have been blogging and doing a lot of freelance writing, and that is also starting to pay of here and there. I have thought, many times, to turn my back on my writing and that it just was not worth the time or effort; however, I am glad that I never gave up because I would have lost a lot of opportunities had I not continued to pursue my passions.

Sadly no, websites are my passion and I end up having to let websites go every time I get one that has enough momentum to turn into something. I have lived on a fixed income since 2002 and website hosting is very expensive, especially when you get into web servers and VPS hosting. Even shared hosting gets crazy a semi-dedicated hosting plan is $19.99~$29.99 a month depending on who you go to and then the jump to that is a VPS and your talking $50+ and then from there your talking $150~$300 a month for a dedicated server and I just don't have that kind of money. My max budget is $20 a month.

What you have said is all true. We need sometime to make additional income to cover some bills and payments.

For over a decade now, my passion had been to earn a living online and have a lifetime financial freedom for real. Things haven't been easy since I graduated from the university, till recently that I came across an affiliate marketing community where members are earning between $12000 - $14000 within two months. I was taught how to build a WordPress website and monetize it with google AdSense and other money making programs.

Yes. I am pretty fortunate that I can say I have managed to find a job where my passion is combined with the majority of my income. I also get some side money from the various internet tasks but I enjoy everything that I do.

I think that many people can't say the same. I know quite a few that had to give up their passion and take jobs that don't really interest them just to get by every month. It's sad but it's the harsh reality. This only makes me cherish my profession even more.

I am not totally passionate about anything except food, and travel and I have not really tried to make a living with that. Restaurant work is very hard with long hours even catering is difficult. Being a food blogger I think it really oversaturated. I haven't actually had the money to travel anywhere recently so that is, hmm not really. I enjoy writing and have made some money doing that.

Sort of I guess. I work in the office but my passion is in computer. I like to do some editing videos and many more things relating to creativity. If we have an event in the office and if we need something to present, I am the one who do the job. They pay me for what I have done. I am happy that someone appreciates my work. But I hope someday my passion is not just an extra income. I want to try to make money just by my passion itself.
Posted by blank629 on 01-04-2018
You sure are lucky to have computers for your passion. At least you are fulfilling your passion and so it is not like working anymore. I also work in the office and there are computers all around but I cannot say that I enjoy my job because my passion is dogs. However, I cannot have a business concerning dogs because that is not part of my education. The office job is still for me when it comes to my livelihood.

Right now I work part time as a freelancer and social media manager and I love what I do. I've always loved writing so having an outlet to do that as well as get paid for it is fantastic!

My passion is everything because I always do in a good way which and what I like most. Meanwhile, I can say that my passion is helping me earn my livelihood. I am currently working as teacher in secondary and since one of my passions is teaching because I love to share my knowledge even when I was a kid, I am having a wonderful time at work. Moreover, I am currently working as a part-time writer in a publishing company and my passion in writing is really helping me big time.

Good question. We are always taught that the way to riches is to find your passion. However this is not strictly true. Many people work a nine to five job simply for the money and not because they like the job. I will bet you not even a quarter of the population is making money from their passion. There is a saying which I agree with that you should have three passions, one to make money from, one to make a hobby of and one to help you create. I kind of agree with this. With the hard economic times people have to take whatever jobs are available to them at the moment . Currently I can't find a job related to my passion.

What I have now is enough for my daily needs and payment for my bills. I think even it is our passion, still the income is not enough.
Posted by mark86 on 11-15-2018
I do have a lot of passion but what makes me earn is thru drawing. Yes I am earning thru drawing and designing . Although not daily but still I can use my hobby to earn some money.
Posted by nekonieden on 12-14-2018
Not really. Sometimes, you have to do a “work” or a “job” not because you love it or it is your passion but because you need it and you have to. But there are people who are earning doing what they are passionate about and that’s good for them. I would like to be able to do that too. But as of now, it’s not applicable to me. I hope in the future, I can earn my living by doing what I am passionate about.
