It was worth the trouble. I captured that blue moon in my camera
For me I thought it would give me a great subject to capture in my camera. The timings were mentioned as 6.30 to 7.30 p.m. Geared with my camera I went roaming around in the garden including the terrace but the sky was still blue during this hour. I was frustrated and gave up. As I was watching a programme on tv a amention was made that some culd see the moon and that was around 730 pm. Although I had given up my effort this news put a spring in my step. I once again grabbed my camera and went up the terrace and was disappointed as 7.30 atleast where I live was still showing blue skies.
I did not give up I waited for another half hour and took a chance keeping my fingers crossed. Climbed up the terrace not easy as I have some knee problem but my enthusiasm to capture that image in my camera made me forget the knee pain I opened the terrace door. There was darkness all around and no blue skies this time but there it was my subject that I was waiting to capture in my camera The eclipse was partial and the moon was red. I just stood there looking at it. It was all alone standing there not even a star to spare. The sky was pitch dark. Imagine how magnificent that scene was. I went on clicking to my heart’s content. I came down and was thrilled to see that I did not have to step out. I could see it with my door open. I clicked again. I quickly downloaded them in my computer. There were quie a few but just had one or two that deserved to be preserved. From reports I understand we will not see this again for years now and I am grateful that I did not give up. I now have a memory stored in my digital photo folder.

I take pictures of the moon whenever it is in its full phase. No matter how many times I've seen it and photographed it, I simply never get tired of the beauty. That said, this month's Super Blue Blood Moon ended up being a disappoint for me.

I was super excited to take some beautiful pictures. I went outside with my camera and tripod in hand, looked up at the night sky and thought to myself, "Is that it?" As it turns out, I wasn't in the right zone for viewing the total eclipse and just barely caught tail end of it.

The lesson here? Always research the times and zones for celestial events before you get too excited.

I was also excited when it was announced that there was a blue moon. I was ready with my camera and the zoom was quite good that I had captured a good picture of the moon. But on the next occurrence of that blue moon, I thought to myself that there’s no point in taking so many pictures of the moon because it seemed that everyone is doing that so what would happen to my pictures? They are just souvenir shots.

I got to see it too. It was pretty in a dark and somber way.

The moon illuminated the sky. The clouds could hardly be seen. They seemed to disappear after it came. And so just when I thought I had slept through the event, I catch a rare glimpse of it. I looked at it a few times, but didn't really obsess with it. I only knew that it would be years before I got to see it again. But still, I'm glad I got to see another rare cosmological event.

Yes, I agree with you. It's great that you managed to capture the blue moon. I did not even manage to see the blue moon in the sky. I did not know about this, but my husband told us on that night itself. When we went out, we did not even see the moon, the sky was totally dark. I am not sure if we just did not catch the perfect timing.

It is a very nice picture. Thank you for sharing. I rarely take pictures of the moon because whenever I do they nevet turn out very well. I am not much of a photographer. It is nice to have pictures like this. Night sky pictures are always so cool to look at.

To be honest with you, it is only the brave that can take up such move that you did on your quest to capturing the eclipse of the moon. As I read your narration, I was saying that you might have decided to sleep off and not bother about when this event will take place as a result of the fact that the few times you went up the terrace, the blue moon is not yet out. Your persisted mindset was what paid out at the end of the day and I'm elated as I take a look at nature. One thing you failed to tell us is the country that this happened for I would have been glad to know about that as well.

I didn't bother to actually watch this event, however it's pretty nice that you decided to put effort in taking a picture, even though it's not the best picture ever, or at least I can't judge by the quality of the picture you've put, because the resolution is too small. Such pictures are really hard to take, because you need the proper technology and patience, of course let's not forget some editing touches in Photoshop or other image-editing software.

I did not click supermoon or blue moon that we witnessed recently. However, once when I was honing my photography skills, I took a pain in photographing the lunar eclipse. I did not have a DSLR then and I clicked through my point and shoot camera. The photo did not produce great.

I did not captured it on camera. The reason being I wanted to live the moment. And there are plenty of photographs out there. So it's worth enjoying instead of capturing all the time. I guess it works better that way for me. So I have no photographs but I watched it and happy about it.

From what I have read we won't be seeing this for another 150 years. I went to the beach that day just to witness this rare phenomenon. I was really happy as we got to see the beautiful sunset as well as the blue moon. We took so many pictures that day both of the sunset and the moon. We had so much fun. How I wished I could have uploaded all those photos here.

I was not able to have a glimpse of the magnificent blue moon because it was cloudy here in our place. We all waited for it, but unfortunately the clouds ruined it.

Social media was rife with images of the so called blue moon or blood moon, whatever it is, it is still the same good old moon above us. Ever since man had invented writing history, the moon is always included, be it reality or even folklore. And until now that high technology is with us, the moon is still the subject of wonder. I’m sure those pictures taken of the moon will be forgotten when the next blue moon appears.

Yes too many images and lot of them felt same. I would have seen more if it was from different view and perspective. That's what I have noticed about the red moon and blue moon recently.

I thought that the moon that night would only be a blue moon so I wasn't really excited, but then it was actually a Super Blue Blood Moon, which is infinitely better. I was really sad I missed it but the pictures such as yours make up for it. Thanks for the photo!

Unfortunately here in my city there were many clouds in the sky and we could not appreciate this moon very well. Anyway, I saw some photos later and in fact it was a great spectacle in nature.

I did not get to see it, but I wish I would have. I think it would have been very impressive. There is something special about a blue moon for sure. It would have been an awesoem thing to see I am sure.

When it comes to photography I suck! I can't even take pictures of ordinary people, places or things even when the lighting is good. If I tried to take a picture of the moon, I'd just screw it up!

I used to be like you when we bought our first digital camera. About half of the photos I had taken were not good enough that’s why I lost my enthusiasm for the camera. But when the smart phone came to fore, I felt like having a camera of my own so I again started taking photos. And later on, I admitted that I need to learn so I asked my husband for an informal tutorial. By the way, the first lesson that I learned in using the smart phone for taking photos and videos is to use the phone in a horizontal position.

That's great to see. Unfortunately for me, we won't get to see something so beautiful a lot of the times because of the fact that there are so many clouds most of the time over here in the United Kingdom. Plus, I don't think I would even be bothered to go outside to get a picture of such a thing really unless I had a lot of time to go outside and the admire the sight of such a thing. The problem is that I'm not that great with photography so it wouldn't be as great a picture as yours is.

That was a nice shot! I also want to take a picture of the moon during that night but I don't have my DSLR with me. All I have is a smartphone that has a decent camera. I had a shot of the moon but it wasn't the quality of shot that I wanted.

A memoir in the making. That was a great idea. You did it for us too. The blue moon is there for us to see. Science is marvelous. It made the eclipse, the canera and the image.

Glad you were able to capture that marvelous photo. I don't have the proper equipment to capture beautiful scenery but even so, I am trying to capture it through my smartphone or any other device I have. I wanted to capture the blue moon as well but was unable to, due to the lack of proper equipment just as I have mentioned. Good luck in taking more celestial phenomenon and events and hope you'll be able to get a clear shot like that again!

Wow, it was really worth the trouble since the photo you have taken looks really good. I am surprised that you have taken it so good, without special equipments.

I only have low quality camera so there's no chance to capture the beauty of moon eclipse and it is sad to say that even if I love to buy some telescope, my parents would not allow me to buy one as they think it is expensive and one reason is that I can't use it daily and will only use this rare times.

That is very nice to hear and to know. It is actually a rare event to capture such a wonderful sight and I'd like to congratulate you for capturing one. Just keep on capturing for the beauty of the world.
