March is a Very Good Month for Women

March is a Very Good Month for Women
Women shout until their throats are sore and they have laryngitis over Equal Pay for Equal Work, Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, etc. This is nothing new and it's been going for years. Did I say years? My bad. I meant to say AGES!!

However, in America (and some other parts of the world), for at least one month out of the year, women are appreciated.

That month is March.

This is the month when everybody agrees with the song lyrics penned by the late godfather of soul, James Brown, who said: This is a man's world. But it wouldn't be nothing, without a woman or a girl.

Of course, it's everybody's world, but we won't get offended or quibble over the lyrics because we get your point Mr. Brown.

March is National Women's History Month. Celebrated in Australia, United Kingdom, and United States.

March 4–10 is Women of Aviation Worldwide Week.

March 8 is International Women's Day.

March 10 is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (United States).

March 12 is the birthday of the Girl Scouts (United States).

In some countries, Mothers Day is celebrated during March.

What is all of this about, you may ask?

All of this is an introduction to a compelling announcement.

Barbie Unveils 17 New Dolls Based On Inspiring Women

Maybe this is no big deal to you.

After all, the makers of the Barbie doll have been criticized for creating a toy that is more like a sex-toy that promotes an unrealistic self-worth image for young girls and making these inspiring female dolls won't change the image they've already created and stamped in the minds of so many women and girls. The damage is done!

But as a child who always wanted a Barbie doll and never got one, this news announcement is HUGE!!

What is your opinion?

Knowing that Barbie is iconic, symbolic, and leaves an impression on doll lovers, doll collectors, and young impressionable little girls, do you think the creation of these dolls is a serious show of support for women's rights all around the world (Agree) OR … just another sales gimmick to make some money?

A tribute to Women

Of course there's the marketing side of it (all businesses do this) but it's also nice that Barbie also made a tribute to women in March. March is Women's Month and it is just but right to celebrate womanhood. In the entity that I work with, there was a celebration of women's month celebration last Friday. There was a free massage booth, a free haircut booth, free lunch, and other fun activities. It boosted the morale of employees, most especially the women.

If large entities make products that are specifically catered for women during women's month, there's always a promotional element involved. But we should also acknowledge the fact that they also remembered and gave importance to women's month, which is a pretty good deed.

I agree.

I am not sure if you can classify a month like that, however it is true that there are a lot of special occasions that women can celebrate and with their partners too, of course. In a way I do agree that it is a good month for women, because more celebration is always good.

I agree.

I think it's obvious Barbie's Company is going to create a product that can make them earn a lot of money. Generally, when we do any job, doesn't matter if we like it or not, we do it for the money mostly, nevertheless, I don't think that will diminish the initiative to show the girls that they can be whoever they want. This way of honoring all those women that have fought to conquer their dreams is pretty nice to me.

I didn't realise that there were so many different events happening around the month of March which is actually quite great. For us in the United Kingdom, mother's day is in March so that makes it a really great month for women.

Definitely yes. March is a good month to celebrate the women day. This is to give thanks for their wonderful contributions not only in the family but in the society as well.

No one has disagreed yet, be the first!

Well, It is just a toy to let little girls play with it. No big deal should arise with that. But you can't really please every one. So haters will still come out from what ever this world will show. People are always like wanted anyone drag them down.

It is a toy all right but I guess it is a symbol of women empowerment. However even if I am a woman I am not keen on such kind of symbolism or even festival or commemoration. A month for women is like discriminating people. Why not have a month for man? That is crazy. Women like to be ahead and they like to be seen as the weaker sex for man to be courteous but look at what we are doing? We want women to be equal with men. That is really crazy.

IT is really a good month for women because without women men will not be able to achieve their set goal in marriage.

I believe that every day should have been Women's day. Nowadays there are many working women who are actively contributing to the economy. Moreover, these women also have to look after their families and most of them have good organizational and time management skills that multitasking becomes easier for them. When it comes to those Barbies this is just another marketing technique used by this company to persuade people to purchase those dolls. Unfortunately, nowadays most festivals are commercial in nature.

The toys are amazing and another thing that I've come to appreciate is the way the ladies are being taken good care of in our current world. I always say that there is need to have that world where the women gender are given the type of respect and value that they deserve. March is really that month that we should be thankful to our moms and ladies in our lives for doing that good job for us.

Yes, March is a good month for women. I agree with that. With all of the things that are happening, it seems like it is a great month to celebrate being female. I think in some parts of the world it is also Mothers Day this month.

Yesterday, the International Women’s Day was celebrated. There were some activities here but not much. To be fair, I don’t like those kind of celebration because it seems to alienate the male population from us. If women wants equality then we already have it. And now that we have the equality, we create a special day for women. What for? To make women superior than men? Isn’t that crazy because women are made for men and vice versa so there should not be any distinction. Just call us humans and that’s it.

I love how the world is really evolving for women all over the world especially for women in Africa. we were no where to be found in the scheme of things but now we have women in all walks of life and we have even women's presidents now,it really amazing to know and women are or really appreciated now.The Barbies are okay all the sane.

I did not know March is National Women's History Month. Since I am not in Australia, United Kingdom, and United States, I don't know about this. However, I am aware about INternational Women Day which is celebrated with much fan fare in my home country. Even my wife and mother participate in Women Day marching.

I think March should not only be the month to be considered as national women's day because every single day should be treated as a women's day because they are doing a lot of hard work just to raise their family. I really appreciated the efforts and the sincerity of women to give the need and wants of their family. Besides women are considered as a very important branch of a family, without them there would be no happy family. As much as possible we should give equal treatment and opportunities and the respect that they should be enjoying, because they deserve to be respected and treated equally just like a man.

You have a point. Women Day or no Women Day, women of all ages from all cultures and countries should always be treated equally. The day is marked in the remembrance of the struggle of the women who contributed to the equality movement. In my opinion, one of the reasons why women are not treated equally is the culture. Almost all cultures in the world treats women as inferior being. The culture was formed by men and the society is based on culture. We need modifications.

My opinion on the new set of Barbie dolls is that it is a welcome addition. I'm a man so obviously I didn't play with Barbie dolls as a boy (though if you're a boy who did, hey, you do you) but I had the classic toy, G.I Joe. Why am I making a point of this? Because like many American boys growing up, G.I Joe had influenced me whether I realized it or not. The military and violence became an integral part of my psyche, and it was almost enough to convince me to become a soldier when I grew up. That, to me, is disgusting, and I can see how Barbie dolls can (negatively) influence young girls in a similar fashion. Because of this, I'm glad that they're introducing more dignified dolls.

Interestingly, I played with a barbie when I was a kid (I am also a man). The barbie belonged to my sister. Father had bought a toy camera and toy phone for me and a Barbie for my sister. I found barbie who cried and laughed more than my camera and phone. I also believe that the Barbie set is awesome. I have a 6 years old niece and would surely like these barbies in addition to her one barbie doll.

I think they deserve it don't you? I think women do so much work that is unacknowledged, like taking care of their families.Their biggest unacknowledged task is bringing little humans into the world, which has been proven to reduce their life expectancy. Note all these occasions are just ceremonial days that have been acknowledged. Everyone can wish you happy woman's day and happy mothers day, but no one really gives you the option to put your feet up and rest.

No men are misogynist, however, when it comes to treatment to the females, almost all men are trying to place themselves above. Generally speaking, women are viewed from the ivory tower. If you analyze animals, you will find the male animals are always bossy and superior to their female counterparts. This is a law of nature. However, we humans are intelligent creatures, therefore, we need to treat women equally.

We celebrate March too as women's month here in our office. I'm a woman and it feels good to know that it was celebrated in our office for years now. It might not be as important to some people but it still feels good to be recognized the contribution of women in our society.

I think these toys were created for business purposes, I don't know the real reason but what ever the reason it may be as long as he/she still created it to show how the creator valued women and how women are important to our society then it is okay for me. I think women deserves a celebration for this month. Even if it is just once a year we can give women importance since they also sacrificed a lot from giving birth to a child/children to taking care of family. Both men and women deserve to be celebrated because they may have differences when it comes to strengths and critical thinking, but both men and women sacrificed themselves for other people is what more important and deserves a celebration.

Barbie dolls have huge appeal to young girls and there's no doubt that profit is the primary consideration in coming up with this series. While I don't think that this is a show of support for women's rights, I do agree that these dolls can inspire little girls to dream of pursuing a career or doing something they want to do. I don't have a little girl but I would surely love to give it away as a gift to a niece or a friend's child.

I am not quite sure how I feel about Barbie dolls. In my experience, growing up, they always seemed to represent a lifestyle far out of reach for my sister and I in terms of class. We came from a very poor family, and although my sister played with Barbies, she would often comment that she would never have a nice car or house like the traditional blode Barbie doll did, and that always really depressed me to hear her say that. In any case, I think EVERY month should be special for women, and we should celebrate the women in our lives and make them feel beautiful whenever possible.

Women deserves to be appreciated and valued what ever month it is. But a month to celebrate their contributions is a great way to appreciate their work in the community. There are many ways to appreciate their involvement in the progress and values of every aspects of life and that includes a barbie doll. After all barbie dolls are one the symbols of women empowerment and has a great contribution on the imaginative minds of our daughters.

I watched the funeral services for Michael Jackson on television and noticed that the youngest one of his children was holding a doll in his hand. It was a doll made in the image of his late father. He was really holding on to that doll. It makes me think how much dolls influence a child's psyche, whether they are Barbie dolls or not. But even more so because Barbie dolls are practically woven into our society and culture, I imagine these collectible dolls could be used develop self-esteem in young girls and to perhaps inspire them to make their mark in history. I'm not sure if the dolls could also influence boys. Maybe when they are considering a mate to stand by their side, the women in the Barbie Inspiring Women Series could serve as a model of their “ideal woman”. Eh! I might be stretching it a bit. LOL.

I really agree on this that march is really a good month for women because of several things that are happening during this month. But if I will be asked, for me everyday should always be a women's month because of the different attributes that women done for the world. Many great leaders came from women and as much as possible we must give them equal rights just like what men are experiencing right now, They should have equal treatment even though they come from the opposite sex. They must be loved and respected at all times because they too are humans that feel hurt whenever someones is abusing them.
Posted by junrose123 on 04-11-2018
I can't agree or disagree because I believe every month should be fruitful and blissful for every woman around the world. Those different events mentioned above that are being celebrated in the month of March, I think it just happened to be in that month. And I think those events should be exercised or even celebrated every day. The month of March just reminds us that there are some important recognition for women around the world.

It does not mean that all women recognize these numerous women holidays in March. Give women some freedoms and they end up throwing them in dust. Funny dolls thrre.
Posted by stbrians on 09-28-2018
I won't go that March is a very good month for women because for me theres no specific month that will considered only a good month for women. Women should be great, respected and loved every now and then because she is the light of all lives she brings to live.

Didn’t know that all these events were on in March but I think overall these kinds of events are all on the increase. Women are banding together all over the world to support one another and it’s quite inspiring to see.
