Movies are most than just entertainment

Movies are most than just entertainment
Usually we go to the movies, or we simply watch a movie, just to entertain ourselves. But even if in some cases certain movies are just made to entertain, the concept of movie as a whole is something more. Movies are art, and whoever have a passion in them see more than just a simple form of entertainment. They talk about us, about important stuff, they show something beautiful and incredible with their images, with their sounds, their music... A movie alone is a whole world, and considering it just as entertainment would be just wrong.

100% agree!

Moves are definitely more than just entertainment! I know so many amazing movies that have touched me deeply and have changed the way I think and see the world. If you really watch a movie, you can often find hidden life lessons or beautiful messages that can change you as a person.

The best kind of movies are those that make you FEEL. Whether it's laughter, sadness, crying or something in between, movies are a form of art and they deserve all the respect. Some of them take years and years of hundred of people's hard work just to be shown in the cinema.

I agree with you, Movies are more than entertainment though some fictions exagerate but most of movies Teaches people how to deal with some difficulties and Since life is school we always need to learn and be better and movies help us to do so, I myself was inspired by a movie called girlboss, It is a movie about a young girl who struggles Without a job and she ends up creating An online business of selling vintage clothes, she started on ebay and then later she was able to create her own website when She got banned by ebay, So Movies Are not just entertainment I can't get a proper word.

Movies are lot more

I have found that movies often have some sort of propaganda. You can see that most of the movies these days are modified in many ways. And you may also notice that entertainment is not going to be there as well. They show each others country in bad light. So it's more than entertainment. And it's more of social nature that shows up.

Movies are amazing

I am very choosy when it comes to movies. Some movies can positively influence people at times. There are many lessons that we can draw from some movies. I really like to watch documentary films as I learn so much from them. The actors have to work really hard. There are even cases where actors died while they where acting for some movies.

Movies are modern art, they have the hability to make you laugh, make you cry, make you question your own existence, movies are much more than entertaintment.
Posted by StolenKid on 08-07-2017

I agree!

I totally agree with you, movies are the biggest art that was ever created. It evolved from the movies with Charlie Chaplin on what we see today, and this is really amazing. We go to see movies few times a week and we enjoy a good time, relax and feel the thrill on watching the big screen in the front of us.

Of course

I have to start saying that this a way that people have to express some of their feelings, making a movie also requires a lot of hard work. It's awesome to see how everything results, hours and hours spent on one project, so definitely this is something more important or relevant that just entertainment, that doesn't define exactly what a Movie is.

Movies are a form of self-expression for the directors and artists, at least when not corrupted by avarice.

Movies are art because they express the inner workings of the minds of those involved, and the creativity of HUNDREDS of people reflect the final product.

Of course, not all movies are good, just like not all songs are good, or not all painters can make masterpieces... But the ones that are good can touch our hearts and create a vivid imagery portraying the imagination of the authors.

Movies are visual books. They help us enrich our minds and, by watching one, our inner world grows just a little bit bigger.

Movies are art.

Movies are amazing, of course, their main thing is to entertain people but as well show stories. Movies can change peoples lives, they can teach you life lessons and send a positive message to others with the story. It requires a lot of aknowledge to put the all the pieces together and make a great story out of an idea. Of course, not all movies are good, but as everything in life, nothing can be perfect.

Movies are Life Influencing Artforms

Movies have influenced our lives in many ways and likewise, it is the experiences and circumstances in life that create the ideas and passion and drive to make movies. There's a reason why such entertainment remains one of the greatest revenue generating sources of all times. Movies maintain that special niche among the patrons because there is so much exposure and ideological explosion of ideas and thoughts and creativity and fantasy and colors and experiences brought together in a unique entertainment package. The list of exciting variables goes on and on and as such this keeps us coming to the theaters and cinemas and movie shows in infinite proportions.

FIlms are Art.

Good film has long informed culture and been a means of having a culture-wide discussion about topics that are sometimes a little too difficult to handle in polite company. They certainly are entertainment and can even promote music if the film's sound design is such that it relies on a certain theme.

High Art

Movies are more than just entertainment, and when they are done right, they can be a form of high art and entertainment. There are many great directors, such as Ridley Scott, Francis Ford Coppola, and Stanley Kubrick, etc., who can elevate this medium to higher levels of expression and cultural meaning. Seeing the world through the camera lens of a good artist and cinematographer can be a revelatory and life-changing experience.
Posted by JoeMilford on 08-02-2017

I agree

I find that the best movies are those where the director tries to convey some sort of message. The same happens to music and books. It seems that when content is produced this way it speaks from the heart.
Posted by Marvadaum on 08-01-2017

Agree with the masses

Movies really are more than just entertainment. There is definitely a lot of art put into it by all the different people who create the film... from the writers, the set designs, the director, the actors, and many more. Some movies are very visually artistic and really just draw you in. I love when movies portray things that I never really imagined before, like when "Avatar" came out. I also think many movies portray messages, even if the main purpose was for entertainment. There always seems to be a line or a snippet in the movie that just sticks with you. I don't recall what film it was, but there was one movie that I watched and found a bit boring, but it had a line that just stuck with me. Things were just going lousy for the main character and it was one thing after another, something I can identify with. Then someone said, "if it wasn't this, then it would be something else." Or at least the quote was something like that (I'm terrible at remembering quotes). Yeah, I feel like life is kind of like that, if it's not this, then it would just be something else anyhow. For me it was a reminder that life will do as it will do and you just have to take it as it comes, for better or worse.

Yes, Yes and Yes!

Cinema is one of the most genuine forms of expression of art.

As much as there is a technical preparation behind the "magic" it's necessary to put the heart in what is being developed because without this, no movie can be more than just a movie in the eyes of the viewers.

Entertainment is just a part of the whole process.

Posted by wiseagent on 09-03-2017

Some are

Movies are just another medium for expression so it just depends on what is being expressed. I'd say the same is probably true for books and all other methods of expression and creativity in that it really just depends on the art behind it. If it is designed to be just mindless entertainment then it can be that too but some movies can be much deeper than that.
Posted by Wubwub on 11-29-2018

I agree

Some movies really taught us a valuable lesson in life and sometimes, there are some things that we never learned from school. A movie is a tool to for us to enlighten us into a reality that might possibly happen and gives us an idea of what to do when that time comes. a movie is truly educational and gives us a lot of opportunities to grow base on what we've seen and given us an idea for the next generation.
Posted by ColdFlameChris on 11-10-2017

It depends

There are great movies and there are bad ones, what you've said applies to good movies but as we all know there's a lot more bad movies around, which you can't consider as art much less learn something from it.

Liz Schoenberg

Mindless Escapism

I find that when I am living life fully, I have little time for television and movies and I am generally more happy. To be honest, I'd rather be living life than watching other people live their lives. Maybe, when I was younger I would have said that movies are meaningful and are more than a way to spend time. However, I can't remember the last time I went to the movie theater. It is enormously expensive and I find that the past 5 years of movie making has be a dearth of creativity. Everything is a remake or a super hero movie. The movies are now global franchises meant to make money in China. Also, I am tired of Hollywood's use of the anti-hero. I miss the old days where there mature characters who embodied values. (Which is maybe why super heroes are so popular, they represent goodness and values.) Anyway, I'd rather go to the gym than watch a movie. But one last thing: there are certain people who get fully engrossed in movies, meaning they experience the movie as if they were IN the movie. Those people really love movies. I am not one of those people. I notice a multitude of details that pulls me out of the story telling. I notive poor story telling, bad acting, problems with camera angels and continuity. It's a very rare film that grabs my interest. Otherwise I am bored out of my mind 90% of the time.

I love movies with good 3D effects such as Transformer and Aliens. Those directors and producers are very professional in making the movies come alive into our world of imagination. Besides entertainment, movies related to wild life such as cartoon series Madagascar and Lion King, showed us how animals interact with each other, loyal and faithful to each other that humans often had forgotten the value of humanity.
Posted by peachpurple on 08-01-2017
I couldn’t watch 3D movies because I get a headache. Maybe the 3D movies I had seen were of low quality hence my eyes got strained when the focus is not synchronized properly with the movement of the characters in the scene. But generally at home, they love 3D movies just for the effects especially when the sound system of the cinema is the sensurround type. It gives a feeling that you are inside the scene.
Posted by Corzhens on 10-15-2018
Some are and some aren't. Some movies are pure escapism and some have a message or a historical lesson. These are just some of the different types of movies that are available. There is no just one answer to this question.
Posted by kgord on 08-01-2017
Some movies are great, they contain lessons that you can apply in real life. While some are just for entertainment, popcorn flicks. While some are just really bad, it's like they were just made because they have connections with the movie industry.
Posted by BeardedMamba on 08-01-2017
Well, movies are of thousands of categories. Some educate but I can tell you there are some movies that are just nothing more than entertaining pieces.
Posted by maria_c on 08-01-2017
I like to watch movies for entertainment but some movies can have a nice meaning to them also.
Posted by simplym on 08-01-2017
Of course movie is also a form of art and expression since ideas can be delivered through them. There is much more to movies though than just entertainment and art. I see movies also as one way to connect with other people. Topics about movies can help break the ice and start conversation with someone else who has the same interests, or you could watch movies with your friends. I love action movies but I will never forget that one movie that changed how I viewed life, to never take everything you have for granted.

Movies are not just for entertainment it also contain moral values and a lesson in life. A movie can change your perception in life and towards other people. It is an art of expressing emotions, creativity, musics, and other things that all people can relate.
Posted by rose thornes on 08-02-2017
A movie is a combination of many important element like that screenplay, graphics, script, aaa dialogues, music and makeup. A good movie has a balanced blend of all of these. But as they say that "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" same is the case with movies. Not every person has the capability of understanding the efforts that are put up in making a presentable movie.
Posted by amitkokiladitya on 08-02-2017
For me and my husband, watching a movie in the theater is not only for the movie but for quality time that we spend with each other. Yeah, it is like dating in the olden times. Sometimes we buy popcorn and drinks for our snack while watching but more often, we just watch with no food because we would eat in the restaurant after the movie. And we are choosy with the movies. We are careful to evaluate the synopsis and the cast because for us, a movie is for entertainment and we don't want to watch a movie that deals with politics or controversial issues.
Posted by Corzhens on 08-02-2017
Depends on the type of movie. If it's a documentary that has valuable informations on it then it's not entertainment. But if you enjoy watching it and have good times with friends or families, then it's purely entertainment. Movie is categorized as entertainment.
Posted by galegatling on 08-02-2017
well I think movies are entertainment, now with that being said yes a movies can be more then just entertainment, it can educate, and enlighten, but I'm also aware of Hollywood and I don't trust Hollywood to give me anything more than entertainment, Hollywood doesn't always tell the truth.
Posted by kamar19 on 08-02-2017
It's true. Some movies are art. Some are also propaganda. I prefer movies that are solely for entertainment most of the time. If I want to be "educated," I'll seek trusted sources for that.

That said, there are times when movies do have a good message as well. "Pay it Forward" was very touching and something that I love to see in action.
Posted by Zyni on 08-02-2017
I really think that if a movie is done right then it can be a form of art. For a movie to be really good, it has to make me jump into the movie and feel what the characters are feeling and going through. It has to make me cry or laugh out loud. I need to root for the underdog and feel joy and relief when they become the hero or make a difference in someone's life. There have been many movies that I have seen that I can relate well to the characters and feel like I am one with them. Some characters can make you feel inspired and that you can take your life to the next level and become the champion. I love when movies can make me feel so many emotions.
Posted by morgoodie on 08-02-2017
I agree! I think films are great therapy tools and can inspire us and give us life lessons. I think films really go beyond entertainment.
Posted by hermessantos on 08-02-2017
I agree that movies are so much more. We can tske so much away from many movies that we watch. We also are getting to spend time with family or friends while we are watching movies. It is a great past time. There is so much put into the making of movies for our entertainment and enjoyment. Everybody enjoys a good movie.
Posted by Sue on 08-03-2017
The basic purpose of a movie is to entertain the viewer. However, movies are more than that. A movie can be a literary book, painting, or mucis that can be watched. Movie gives insights to human life, it explores ideas, it imparts knowledge.
Posted by vinaya on 08-05-2017
Movies are an art form. It's not only entertainment but serves as a way for us to learn new stuff. It helps us to de-stress and make us feel different emotions. Movies also help us to celebrate creativity and imagination of the human mind.
Posted by fishmonk on 08-05-2017
These days streaming movies and the TV shows can show you that there is a lot to movies. And lot of them are worth watching. I personally prefer to stream movies. Be it adult or the kids. I think entertainment has no such restriction and there should not be any restriction. So it all comes down to that part. You can see that those who are into this for entertainment can make use of it for the long term usage.
Posted by overcast on 08-08-2017
I always love watching movies and as for me, it's definitely more than just an entertainment. Some movies are inspired by real life stories and there are also some that happen in real life. Movies for me teach lessons, give inspiration and most especially hope. These are the reasons why I love watching a movie and I am addicted to it.

For me, watching movies is not just for entertainment but also for bonding and quality time. It's the time when I can enjoy, laugh, and eat with my friends or family while watching. Another good thing about watching movies is the lesson we can learn from it. It's really nice to share insights with people who have watched the same movie you watch. Those lessons are sometimes applicable in life as well. So for me, movies are for entertainment, quality time, and learning.
Posted by Krisleen on 11-14-2017
It's true that movie is not just an entertainment. There's a lot of element attached to it. It can make us emotional depending on the relation of it into our lives that is why we are sometimes crying over a scene or dialogue. Sometimes, it mirrors who we are because it is based on human emotions or experiences.
Posted by Scarlet on 12-18-2017
Honestly, I don't remember when was the last time I went to cinema to watch movie. Because most of the time if I want to watch movie, I will just download it and watch in my computer. I'm much more enjoy this compare to the big screen. Sometimes it's not just an entertainment for me, is more on stress reliever, if I want to do some movie marathon it means I'm not feeling well during that time, and watching movie also is a great past time. IF you don't know what to do during that time, and you want to save money, just watch movie in your room,
Posted by ion on 04-17-2018
It's better to watch a movie in the theater. You will feel the scene and the atmosphere adds thrill to the movie. Watching a movie on your home is the most relaxing way but sometimes you will fall asleep for too much comfortable while watching.
