Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls
Are you American? Are you Canadian? In either case, you can be proud of one of the most gorgeous natural beauty that can be seen from your country. Between the border many visitors each year can admire the wonderful noisy spectacular place that is known as the Niagara Falls! They are probably one of the most famous, if not the most famous, waterfall in the world. And it's incredible, since they aren't even the higher, or even in the top five higher waterfalls! The jump from top to bottom is just about 52 meters high, but so what makes those waterfall so famous and incredibles? Maybe it's the popular culture. In cartoons, comics and movies there are often people trying to jump off it in a barrel or inside other containers - or even without. This happened also in reality, since the late 1800s: many people tried to jump from the falls, either to sucidie or to try a life risking stunt. Some people survived, other didn't. And of course, they appears in various movies and books: the most famous being, of course, the Marilyn Monroe movie simply called Niagara. But maybe they aren't famous just for this.

The Niagara Falls are famous simply because they are beautiful, as the many people visiting them each other prove - around 19 millions each year, probably even more in recent times. The Niagara Falls are actually three different waterfalls, starting from the Canada side with the horsehoe falls, and ending in the Usa with the Bridal Veil Falls. And speaking about brides, many people choose this as a destination for their wedding. So, even if they aren't the biggest waterfall ever, they are amazing to see, expecially during summer, both at day and at night, when some lights transform them in a unique show, that must be seen in person. Pictures don't give justice to this amazing natural turistic spot. Admire them from the top, from a boat, or walk on the Cave of the Winds stairs to the bottom, and from any angle you will have a wonderful view or a true wonder of nature.

Niagara

I grew up not too far from Niagara Falls and have been there many times. As a matter of fact, for sheer coincidence, I am wearing a Niagara Falls T shirt today..lol. Anyway, the falls are magnificient and definitely worth a look if you have never seen them in person. I would vote for them as the best falls.

Niagara for 2 Reasons

Niagara Falls is my pick for a practical reason. I live in America. It would be easier for me to travel to see them. I also like them for a non-practical reason. It was the scene for an old movie titled “Niagara” which starred Marilyn Monroe. I'm an MM fan. Truth be told I love waterfalls. Wouldn't mind visiting either one.

Easier to access

If I was planning a trip to see a waterfall I would definitely go to the Niagara falls simply because it would be easier for me to travel there as I am already in North America. I'm sure that both options are beautiful but I can't travel across the world to see a waterfall.

Great work of nature.

Both water falls are really cute to take a look at, but the fact is that the Niagara Falls is one that I can't really take my eyes off. I think most of the movies that are popular were acted near this water falls and this is to show us how the Niagara Falls is well appreciated by those that are staying in those areas as well.

Wonders of the world

Even though haven't had the opportunity to visit Niagara Falls in person, but from what I seen so far from online sites, Facebook, and YouTube video of the falls, I must say that Niagara Falls is such a thing of beauty.

Niagara Falls

I remember about Niagara falls from the Geography lessons we had in school. By then we never knew what they were. We just wondered at the beautiful images we were shown of these falls.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls
It was the 17th of November 1855, and the famous explorer David Livingstone saw for the first time a gorgeous waterfall. Since nobody saw them before, or at least no one told about that, he gave them the name of the Queen of England, Victoria. The local population actually already knew them, with the name of Mosi-oa-Tunya, but today everone calls them Victoria Falls.

Like Niagara Falls, they are exactly between two different countries: Zambia and Zimbabwe. They follow the river Zambezi, and much like the Niagara Falls they aren't that high after all, being just 128 meters. It's still pretty high, however. In front of them there is no a river that continues the journey of water, but rather a very deep gorge: here they falls, and here is it possible to admire them in their entirity, from the front, and not from one side or the other like the Niagara Falls. And seeing this huge amount of water falling down, this huge natural wonder with a lenght of a kilometer and a half is something that should be done at least once in a lifetime, like 300.000 people do each year, a number that will probably quickly increase up to a million.

Sure, they weren't always that popular since during the 70s Zimbabwe wasn't a good place to visit. There was some warfare, and strangers weren't exactly welcome here at the time. Luckily in the 80s Victoria Falls went back into being Queens of the waterfalls. Extreme sports, tourists, everyone started once again to love this place - and the majority of them actually visited the waterfalls from the Zimbabwe side, rather than the Zambia one.

Maybe they aren't as popular as the Niagara Falls, since it's rare or uncommon to see them in medias like movies or similar, but they are still gorgeous and amazing. Watch them from the ground, watch them from the train bridge that was build in 1905, in any case you will have in front of you a masterpiece of nature, something that the human mind can hardly imagine without seeing it in person.

Pros
  • A unique show from nature
  • You can see them from the ground or the train bridge
  • Very long
  • Higher than average
  • You can see them from the front on the other side of the gorge
  • You can see some very beautiful rainbows

Cons
  • Not very popular as others
  • During some years the area can be dangerous
  • There are some season where the waterfalls are mostly dry
  • The best season to see them is also the most hot and rainy

Victoria

I think I'll choose Victoria Falls since it's lesser known and quite exotic in its location which is Zambia, a relatively unknown country for me, I want to visit it and to know more about its culture and besides Niagara Falls which is located in the U.S. is a very much commercialized tourist spot and it's been shown in a lot of movies unlike Victoria Falls which still has an air of mystery.

I have never seen the Victoria and Niagara Falls and would totally love to visit those places. They are the wonders of nature. There are so many beautiful photos of those waterfalls on the internet and I can't stop admiring them. There are some waterfalls here in my country but not as beautiful as those. It is so relaxing to be at those places. It helps in relieving stress.

Although I haven’t been to Niagara Falls and Victoria Falls, I have so many friends who have experienced crossing Niagara Falls. They even posted their picture wearing raincoat. As per their stories, it is one great experience to cross Niagara Falls. Maybe cross is not the right term though. Anyway, Niagara is the most popular waterfalls here and even our waterfalls cannot compete with Niagara Falls in terms of popularity.

I have not seen Victoria Falls or Niagara Falls for real, however, I have watched them on TV and videos. THere is a lot of talk about Niagara Falls because it is in Canada and the United States and very few people know about Victoria Falls because it is in African and between the countries that are not very popular tourist destinations. Given a chance, I will love to visit both of these waterfalls, but I will choose Niagara Falls first.

I have never been to the Niagara or Victoria Falls so this is impossible to vote for.

I have seen these two waterfalls in movies and pictures. Both look so stunning and incredibly beautiful.

I truly hope that I can go visit them at least once in my life but it is across the world.

For me, they're both wonderful and fantastic to experience even though I haven't been there and I don't know if I will ever experience to go any of its destination since it's too far from my country. I did see videos about how wonderful it really is from bloggers who manage to travel there and experience truly magnificent waterfalls which are really something that you wish to experience while watching it on Youtube. Hope I'll have the chance and finance to visit in any of this place and experience a breath-taking view like this.

Well Niagra fall would be COLD nowadays in January but a lot of tourists like to see it when there has been a lot of snow and ice. There is also the very popular Festival of Lights that runs each winter and at New Year's Eve there's also a live celebration at the Falls.

I haven't been to any of these falls, it's only in movies and online that I have seen. They both look pretty cool and I wouldn't mind going to both of them as long as it's both a water fall. Personally, I love water a lot. I have a good skill in swimming, currently I'm learning how to surf. It's not an easy thing to do. I belittled those I saw doing it before thinking it was an easy task but now I know for the better.

I cannot see a difference between the two. However, from where I'm at, Niagra Falls is closer (I'm in the southeast US.). In that case, I am more likely to see Niagra, but the more exotic destination would be Victoria. Anyway, though, why is called Victoria Falls? Seems like Africans would have renamed it, LOL.

I love to see the two falls because I love breathtaking sceneries and nature at its best well, maybe I might prefer Victoria falls better since it that long and average height it will be great of me to see and take a look at the colourful and beautiful rainbow.

Like you, I have yet to see any of those 2 falls that I only see them in pictures and in documentaries. There was a time when a friend from the US visited us. He showed us the photos that they took on their trip to Niagara falls. It was great, he said, that the falls was majestic and so noisy with thecascading water. They were wearing a raincoat because you cannot escape the water. It was icy cold when they went there but he said that the trip is worth the cost because of the great experience.

Niagara is the best, especially at night because it has a light on it, and also the falls really looks satisfying.

I love falls so much, but I haven't been to one before because falls in our country is really rare. Both falls are really good and majestic, but I choose niagra since it more majestic than the other one.
