Pets Have Souls

Pets Have Souls
I have heard time and time again that pets do not have souls. Or that they can not have souls. I find this to be the furthest thing from the truth! Pets do have souls and I can prove it.

I have cats and can tell that they do indeed have souls. There have been many times when they have shown this to me. My cats can tell when I am sad. After my mom died, I had a really hard time coping. My cats can sense when I am sad and come cuddle with me and make me feel better. It is like they feel my sadness and a light goes on in their heads saying I need to go comfort mom because she is feeling bad.

Another way I know that they have souls is that they show me love daily. I have one cat that will walk up to me and my husband and stand up to us with his front two paws stretched up. We will then proceed to pick him up and he will give us hugs. He shows his love like this all the time. What a perfect way to show that cats do have souls.

Another cat of mine comes to bed with me almost every night. He will plop down on top of me and nuzzle his face into mine. It is like he can not get close enough. He loves being with me and always wants to be beside me. That is pure love.

We have another cat that comes to bed with us everynight. He waits until my husband and I are in bed, then jumps in between us and burrows into my husband so he can not see me. It is like he is saying that my husband is all his. I find this to be very sweet.

Cats, as well as other animals, such as dogs, do have souls. They show love, which means they have souls. I am not sure how a snake would show love, but it is obvious to me that cats do have souls.

I wound like to believe so

First, we don't even know if humans have souls. It's just because of faith that we believe that we have a soul. It's because of our faith that there is love after death that we believe in souls. And since I believe in souls, I would also like to believe that all living things have souls. Most especially animals and pets. Pets are so innocent. If they die, I think that they deserve a spot in heaven. That's why I would like to believe that pets have souls. I like to see them go to heaven.

Maybe

Pets especially higher level ones do have emotions for sure. They do have genuine affection for their owners I think, and feel a variety of other emotions. Whether for not this translates into a soul, I am not sure. It might..

Ecclesiastes 3:21

Ecclesiastes 3:21 says who knows if the soul of an animal goes up into heaven or down into the earth?

I have two wonderful dogs and I can honestly say that they do have a soul. They each have a different personality and know the difference between right and wrong.

They breathe the breath of life like we humans do. They have internal organs just like we do. The only differences are that they cannot speak as we do and don't have the intelligence. They don't have the ability to hold a knife and fork, but they do have other abilities that we don't.

We all make up this earth. All of us. We are all animals. We are the most intelligent, that's all.

They do have souls and would be gathered.

Yes.

“There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have neglected nothing in the book, then unto their Lord they all shall be gathered.” Surate 6-v 38

“Do you not see that everyone in the heavens and the earth glorifies God including the birds with wings spread out? Each one knows his prayer and way of glorification and God has knowledge of what they do.” Surate 24 v-41

I don't believe in souls

I don't believe in souls but in the less literal sense I could be into that idea and in that sense I could say that probably some types of animals that we make pets do have some type of soul in them. I say this because some of them do have a personality or some sort of awareness of their connection with their owners, and in this way I think there is something in them that gives them the ability to bond that way. In that way I could say they have a soul but in the way that modern religion and media portrays a soul that is closer to a portrayal of a ghost living inside us, I would have a hard time believing that existing even in humans.

Maybe!

I guess so. I also believe that they are humans reincarnation. But whatever it is, they are still God's creation that needs to be taken care of.

Of course!

Pets are like people too. They breathe, eat and sleep too as much as we do. I believe that all living creatures have souls. God created all us that way. We have a pet dog. Lots of them actually and all of them aren't just pets, they're also a part of the family. I really believe that a dog is a man's best friend. They have a big impact on our lives because they become our stress relievers. I just feel so bad for those animals who always experience cruelty from people. All of us are created with a purpose, not to be hurt. Animals have feelings and souls too. I hope someday, animal cruelty will be stopped.

I believe

Same. I feel the same way you feel. When I am sad my cat would go to my lap or beside me or if i'm thinking depressing things my cat would be my comfort. Also when I am afraid to sleep by myself I would be surprised that my cat would get on the bed beside me and sleep beside me.

They do

I believe that animals have souls as well as plants. They are living creatures created by God, and no living has no soul.. I could say as far as, our pets have a place in heaven. Why? Because sometimes, pets have been more human to us that other people. Us, humans have found company with them, in our loneliest times. They may be guardians sent from above. They relate to us even if they can't speak our language. I believe they will be rewarded for the things they've done for us.

The Bible does not give any explicit teaching on whether pets/animals have “souls” or whether pets/animals will be in heaven. However, we can use general biblical principles to develop some clarity on the subject. The Bible states that both man (Genesis 2:7) and animals (Genesis 1:30; 6:17; 7:15, 22) have the “breath of life”; that is, both man and animals are living beings. The primary difference between human beings and animals is that humanity is made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26-27), while animals are not. Being made in the image and likeness of God means that human beings are like God, capable of spirituality, with mind, emotion, and will, and they have a part of their being that continues after death. If pets/animals do have a “soul” or immaterial aspect, it must therefore be of a different and lesser “quality.” This difference possibly means that pet/animal “souls” do not continue in existence after death.

Animals Don't Have Souls

RE: Comments made by Anonymous.

Animals don't have souls. It's in the Bible. Just grab a Bible concordance and do the research. It's in there. Animals makes nice pets but if you're using the Bible for an answer to this question, then … consider what the scriptures reveal.

God made Eve, another human as a proper companion for Adam. The animals were there for Adam but they were not suitable as a companion to share his life with.

Humans have eternal souls and they will return to their Creator when they die. Animals just go back to the dust. Human beings are living souls, who sinned against their Creator, and had to repent. That's what having a soul is all about. When you broach the topic of "souls", you're talking about beings made in the image of God. Beings who know the difference between good and evil. Beings who make choices in life and decide to do good or to do evil.

People are preaching the gospel to and sharing the good news of the message of salvation with souls, i.e. human beings, God's children. Not to dogs and cats.

Also, in the Old Testament, animals were offered as a sacrifice and the Commandments specifically state “Thou shalt not murder.” If animals had souls that would mean every time the Jewish priests offered a sacrifice they were committing a murder.

Last point. It's a technicality. But since we're using the Bible. Animals have spirits. The spirit is not the same as the soul. Humans have a body, a mind, a spirit, and a soul. It's in the Bible.

I doubt.

This is your opinion, but I doubt that animals have got souls no matter how people try to convince me that the animals have got souls. I'm just wondering what the soul of any animal will be doing after it has died. Will the soul go to heaven? Will the soul go to hell or what? These are questions that I always ask those that argue on this and funny enough, they never have gave a valid reason for it.

There is nothing that can make me really believe that animals got souls inside them. God didn't make it to be so and that's why I can't agree with that assertion.

Maybe

In my opinion every living thing, even an ant who is capable of thinking have souls or as some would call it "Life Essence", but I do think that there's a big difference between the souls of humans and the souls of animals, inscects and others because we are made by God after their own image to rule over all His creations. So I really think that our souls are more developed and will go to a special place after our death.

None does

First of all there is no clear scientific definition of a soul. But by assuming that what you mean is some "mystical" force that exists in humans and that it is their essence of life , then no , a soul is something that humans have created in their mind to explain life.

So as humans don't have "souls" neither do any animals. That being said, mammals (that we are part of) possess some common characteristics like emotions , bonding , care for their young , fear , anxiety , pain etc. So no souls but yes we are emotionally similar.

My dog is my best friend and I can see how happy he is when we are around. Whenever I come back home in the afternoon he gets happy and doesn't stop following me around. He is a family member. I can't imagine my life without my dog. He waits for me every morning to take him for the morning walks. I know that he is a happy pet and he loves my family a lot. So yes I agree that pets have souls.

History tells us that dogs have been living with man for millennia and have shared many important aspects of their lives. In mythology, Ulysses has a dog that is very faithful to him and only dies when he returns. This is just one example to underline how the dog is an example of sincere friendship. We even have a phrase from the famous writer Victor Hugo, who said: "Look at the look of your dog: can you say that you do not have a soul?"

Despite this common concept among us, in the Hebrew tradition the dog is considered an impure animal. Hence we find in the Bible certain texts in which the dog was used as a means of reproach or humiliation (1 Samuel 24,14, 2 Samuel 3,8, 9,8, 16,9). Paul calls the false apostles "chaos" (Philippians 3: 2). Just as the Apocalypse calls those who do not enter the Kingdom of Heaven "chaos" (22,15).

From the theological point of view, the dog is a creature of God and as such must be respected. The Bible, however, underlines the supremacy of the person in creation, who receives the "breath", the soul. This, however, means not only privilege over other creatures, but also responsibility.

If you believe in the soul, you should also believe that animals, like humans, also have a soul. In Hindu belief system, people who commit terrible wrongs have been said to be born as an animal in the next life cycle. I believe in karma and according to karma principle, you will be born again agan again and your life will be determined based on your previous deeds.

When my first dog died in 2007, I was really heart broken and my only recourse for a consolation is to think that dogs have souls too. That the saying all dogs go to heaven is true. Who knows? Instead of being sad, you can come to terms with the loss when you think positively. Yes, I now believe that animals have souls and that they will try to come back to us in another form whether as pets again or maybe in human form?

Pets don't have souls but they do have characteristics or traits that we loved about them. The last dog that we have had became the closest to my heart and how I wish he could live again to be with me in a form of my new dog but he didn't so a pet really have no souls.

It depends on what your definition of a soul is. If you mean soul in the religious sense, of an essence or spirit which characterizes a being and transcends the physical realm, then no I don't believe that pets/animals have a soul. Why? Because I don't believe that humans have souls either. What I believe in is fundamental consciousness, which has no characteristics and is shared by all sentient beings, humans and animals. While we may be more advanced than most animals, I believe we still share many of the same characteristics, included the same stream of consciousness.

Dogs and cats, like human beings, have souls. The soul is what keeps the body and the mind together. However, soul is different from the spirit. The spirit is the part of our being that is capable of recognizing God. God himself is a spirit and must be worshiped in and by the spirit. Animals don't have spirit and can't worship or acknowledge God. They act by instinct and are less intelligent than human beings.

Having a soul doesn't really determine how animals behave, as there are quite a lot of humans who act immorally. While we can't say for sure, it helps when we think that pets also have souls as they need to be treated with love and respect just like a human being.

This is a crazy conversation to have. Pets having souls?Smh! Snakes kept as pets show love. Any animal you keep as a pet, feed and take care of shows love. I don't understand your definition of love. Is licking a face or jumping all over someone, love? So when they die they go to heaven? I don't think I agree with that, why then would we eat meat in the form of beef(cows), chicken, pork(pigs), and fish ?If they had souls wouldn't God have forbidden us to eat them in the bible? Would he have put them on earth for our consumption?By the way some people eat dogs!

I am still not quite sure what I believe in when it comes to this particular topic! I would like to believe that animals, especially dogs and cats, have souls and that that is why we, as humans, can relate to them so much. For that matter, they may actually have souls; whereas, we do not--or vice versa. I have heard legends of the ghosts of cats and dogs been observed, so, if these were true events, then maybe they do actually have souls. Of course, some people don't believe in human ghosts, so, like I said before, it is just hard to say here when it comes to this forum!

I think it is only human beings who have souls because they were created and God breathe life into them. I won't fully reject that animals don't have a soul because some evil people use magic to put soul into animals and kill the pet so that the person dies.

In the Bible, Jesus removed demons and they entered the pigs. It means animals don't have souls and that is why the demons got in. Have you ever seen someone pray for animals to be cleansed and be unpossessed? Human beings are prayed for so their souls can come back in their body Incase they were possessed

The ignorance of this fact also comes from the lack of common knowledge on what the soul really is. I might not agree with your facts or reasons why you believe cats do have souls, but in my own opinion I believe they do have souls. We humans tend to have this nature of believing only what we know. Just because we don't know or see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. So long as we are living and we believe we have souls, cats also are living things so they should have souls too like us.

I am in conflict with the topic. I am not sure what to think on this. I think everything that stays alive has a soul. And we all have the way to interact with that in that case. I guess if there is a god then there has to be a soul. And there is a death there means there has to be a soul. That's what I think for sure.

I am not sure if they have souls but I guess yes, maybe. If some creatures exists, if human souls exists, then I guess pet's souls also exist. I don't really know what's the real answer with this. Only God knows if they have or they don't have souls. Even if they have or they don't, I can say that they have emotions and feelings. They are affectionate especially the one who they truly claim as their masters. I love pets a lot, it's either dog or cat because If we are sad they are the one who comfort us and make us feel relief when we are stress.

It would be nice to believe that pets have souls. But based on what the church teaches us, they simply have material spirits. Their spirits aren't like what humans have. They won't go to heaven or any other place because they're material spirits created by God.

To be honest, I don't have an idea as to whether animals have soul or not. This is actually the first time I've ever thought of that. I decided to search online and this is the most sensible answer for me: "If you ever owned a dog, a cat, or any other kind of animal to which you grew attached, you may have wondered whether or not that animal had a soul. Men and women through the ages have pondered the same question. Animals— whose vast numbers stretch into the millions—are ubiquitous as our co-inhabitants on planet Earth. They serve as an unpaid, ever-dependable, and quite invaluable work force as they help the farmer plow a rough field or the blind person cross a busy city street. They account for a considerable portion of the total world food supply for humans. They provide joy and companionship for young and old alike. They are an undeniable boon to mental health, especially for sick children and the infirm elderly. Surely none among us would doubt the many benefits that accrue as a result of the presence of animals among us."

Animals do not have the cognitive abilities, and the capacity to reason and make choices, which are required with the aid of spirits if you want to study the classes of the physical world. Animals do have spirits, but they're actually animating spirits whose reason is to defend and propagate the species. They return again and again to the equal species, however, often, they do now not research. There may be an animal religious country, to which they go back briefly, but it is hugely distinct than that for human spirits.
