You know it. I know it. The guy living in a cave for the past millennia knows it. And that's no joke, since the concept of pizza has been floating around in one form or another since the Neolithic era! Mankind has been spicing up their plain old dough with delicious toppings for the last 12,000 years, but it wasn't until 1889 that we got our first glimpse at what would become the classic slice we know and love today. Whether you're into deep dish or thin crust, pepperoni or pineapple, the amount of varieties and toppings for pizza are equal to about as many years it's been around. From big cities to small towns, there isn't a place on Earth where you can't find a hot slice.

  • Can be found all over the world.
  • The toppings are limitless.
  • Even frozen can be restaurant quality.

  • Molten cheese can and will melt your face off.
  • Not exactly diet friendly food.

Nobody beats the king

Pizza, hands down! There is actually one guy who everybody calls the 'Pizza King' because he actually has a lot, I mean A LOT of pizza boxes in his house. I guess he already have the Guinness world record for it. Who does not love Pizza? With pineapple on top? :D Haha

Pizzas are worldwide

Pizzas are very popular in our country for taking one time meal of the day. A full pizza is enough for any one for 6 to 12 hours time of food demand. Bangladeshi rich peoples love to take pizza or love to buy or love to process or cook Pizza every tiem instead of rice or instead of bread.

Thanks Centurion

I love both, but pizza is more versatile

I prefer pizza as I can just have a slice of it and you can choose your toppings or take off the bits you don't want. With a calzone it's often mixed with cheese to bind it and you can't pick out the parts you don't like.

I could share a calzone, but one by itself is quite heavy and filling and too much in one go for me.

From Chicago, so Pizza, of course

I come from the Pizza Capital of this country, so I have to choose pizza. Chicago has the very best. I don't care what New Yorker's say, ha ha.

Nothing can compare to the deliciousness of a good handmade pie with zesty sauce, fresh mozzarella, real Italian sausage, and fresh veggies. Yum.

Posted by Zyni on 07-07-2017

How is this even a question?? Not picking the pizza would be a crime.

Pizza is one of my favorite type of foods. It is unhealthy but just so damn good! I don't eat it very often but when I do I make sure to order the ham, tomato, extra cheese, and oregano.

Whenever we celebrate something or have a party, we order it.

Calzone isn't bad either but it just can't compare to the taste and the flavor of a well-baked pizza.

Really, really tough choice...

Because when I was introduced to a calzone, I fell in love! My mom makes pizza from scratch. When she first made me a folded calzone, it was heaven at first bite!

However, I don't always need that heavy feeling of eating a calzone. Pizza is lighter and better by the slice. Also, generally speaking, I'm usually in the mood for pizza more then calzones anyway.

Posted by Jonathan Solomon on 07-04-2017

I prefer pizza over a calzone. My favorite is a pizza with Alfredo sauce and chicken and spinach. Have to have thick crust because I don't like the thin crust.
Posted by BigDreamer on 07-03-2017

I guess pizza is more common where I live, as there are not a lot of places that offer calzones. Therefore, it is more convenient to eat pizza and there are also more varieties of pizza to choose from. I personally think that calzones have too much dough and not enough filling whereas pizza has just the right balance of both.

Pizza, pizza and let me think again... Pizza

I've always been addicted to pizza (although I also like calzone) since I was a kid and that preference hasn't changed since I became an adult, so... Pizza is my first choice! ;-)

It's simple, delicious and fits in pretty much every moment. :)

I like Pizza!

Pizza is one of my favorite food, especially when it comes to Italian food. I have not heard of Calzone before, and I don't think I have tasted it too. Pizza is nice, we can add different ingredients on top of the dough, and we can enjoy the pizza together with family or friends.
Posted by kaka135 on 07-03-2017

I can't express how much I love pizza. I can even finish a box by myself. Calzones are good, but I love pizza more. My favorite flavor is Hawaiian, it's not a fan favorite, since some people doesn't like pineapple on their pizza, but not me. I love it.
Posted by BeardedMamba on 07-03-2017

I love pizza, so this is a very easy choice for me. The other masses are simply sickening to me. Pizza is my preference without question!
Posted by hermessantos on 07-04-2017

Pizza lover

My family is a pizza lover. We love Pizzahut more than Domino pizza.

However, we don't consume pizza daily, just for public holidays or birthday treats. A large pizza could feed all four of us and we could have leftovers for tomorrow's breakfast. We prefer to buy pan pizza because we could choose different type of flavors to try out . My kids prefer cheese and chicken, I prefer beef and veggies, my hubby prefer spicy and tuna.

Pizza became our favorite dine out dinner only for special days.

Eating a pizza is more popular and you cannot go wrong with a classic pizza. A Calzone is good for one person, less mess, or on the go! But a pizza is shareable.
Posted by simplym on 07-04-2017

Im more familiar with pizza that's why i choose this side. Pepperoni, all meat, hawaian... All of them. I love pizza. Eating pizza is like the easiest way. One hand is the pizza and the other is the sauce. You don need anything else.
Posted by Neiltarquin on 07-03-2017

I think pizza is lot more better. As far as the stomach full part is concerned you get that from the pizza. There seems to be no other way for the pizza to be less tasty. Even without spices it tastes good. Just the sauce alone is worth it with the cheese.
Posted by overcast on 03-26-2018

Life without pizza is not life at all

I just can't explain it any better with the title. I love pizza, the variety, the flavor, the style. It's just better for me and is hands down the winner of this match. Now let's add some Tobasco sauce in there and then it's just overkill.
Posted by arachnophobik on 07-04-2017

Pizza for the win.

I will never get tired of Pizza, calzone is ok, but pizza is better man, everyone loves pizza.
Posted by StolenKid on 07-06-2017

Always pizza!

We eat pizza about three times a month, and I make my dough and make my own pizza. Sometimes we go out and buy a pizza but is not that good as the one I make. My wife says that I should participate in a cooking contest with my Pizza recipe.
Posted by wallet on 07-04-2017

Who doesn't love pizza?

Alright, alright. We all love Italian food, pizza and calzone. Like, who doesn't, right?

But if we're being forced to choose, then I'm going to pick pizza, naturally. Not because I don't love to eat a delicious calzone, but because pizza is simply more tasty and practical. You can have any topping you want, in any way you want, in a bigger shape and with much more filling than dough.

It's superior. Deliciously superior.

Pizza 100%

I had tried the Calzone a few times, and it's good, but my heart goes to Pizza all the time, I haven't eaten anything that I could consider that is better than it.
Posted by reginafalange on 07-03-2017

Definitely going to have to go with pizza on this one. Pizza is more of a party ritual for me. If there's no pizza, there's no party!

New York Pizza

I just got back from New York City, and I stayed primarily in Queens. I had the best pizza of my life there. I've had calzones in the past, but, after my New York experience, I would choose a good slice any day over the shell of the calzone. Also, you can keep moving and easily walk down the street while eating your pizza, and it's not that easy to do that with most calzones.
Posted by JoeMilford on 08-17-2017

A classic!

Pizza is a classic food but at the same time is always being reinvented so it's so modern also. I just can't think of a single person alive who doesn't love it!
Posted by Marvadaum on 09-18-2017

pizza it's better

PIZZA's always a good idea. I love to eat pizza every weekend. I prefer pizza because it's bigger and you don't need to use cutlery to eat just grab your slice and eat it. Besides, wherever you go there is a restaurant where you can buy one.
Posted by pizzalover on 08-17-2017

Pizza all the way.

What can go wrong when you have pizza on the menu?

I'm a "pizzalover" since I was a child and I think that didn't change after I became an adult... On the contrary, I think the addiction got even worse, haha!

Pizza is one of my favorite foods in the whole world. Simple as that!

Posted by wiseagent on 08-20-2017

Pizza for the win! So many flavours and toppings of pure deliciousness, nothing can dethrone Pizza. If it's not clear already, I love pizza. It tastes heavenly even when it's cold. The sight of a pizza box makes me hungry.
Posted by Dkaraly on 08-24-2017

Pizza is heavily more popular. It might not be the healthiest choice, but it is really delicious! Toping options are just endless. Plus, they a cheap option when it comes to eat. And, dude, that molten cheese... God! I want to eat one right now!
Posted by Rebelssis on 08-23-2017

less crust

I like both but I like pizza a bit more just because there is less crust and more toppings. If the calzone was filled to the brim with fillings I would consider it but I think even then I would still prefer pizza because then the oven heat hits the toppings and is able to roast it that way whereas with calzones the filling is mostly just steamed inside so it doesn't get the charred flavor you would get in a pizza aside from in the crust which is the part I have least interest in.

Pizza Rules

For me it's a no contest, Pizza is my choice over any kind of Meat and Pot pies or Calzones. Because pizzas were made for sharing and unlike Calzones which sometimes could be both messy and expensive, a box of pizza is very affordable, filling and quite easy to eat.

Pizza is Life

Me and my boyfriend really love eating pizza. When we go on a date, we usually stop by a pizza store because of our cravings for pizza. We even made a pizza by ourselves. I like the flavor supreme and bacon & mushroom. We can eat the whole pizza with just the two of us.
Posted by ajahcuizon on 10-14-2018

Pizza ftw

I don't even get this question, who dares question pizza? But seriously, whatever food pizza comes against I'd always choose pizza. It has everything, pizza is like a food from breakfast to dinner. i can eat it all day, I can even eat it all year. Just don't give me pepperoni or hawaiian.
Posted by mftmadam on 11-01-2018

What do you get when you take a Hot Pocket, and replace the cold, factory manufacturing process with the tender love and care of a fat Italian baker? Well, you get the calzone. Originally from Naples, the calzone has only been around for a little over 60 years, a drop in the ocean compared to pizza's history. However, in its short time it has managed to earn the love and admiration of foodies across the globe. Take your pick of cheeses, sauce, meats and vegetables, wrap it all up in pizza dough and bake until nice and crispy. The calzone is the perfect portable option for those looking to have the flavor experience of a pizza but just don't have the time to sit down for a slice.

  • Can fill it with as many ingredients as pizza.
  • A more portable way to eat with the same pizza flavor.
  • Crust will protect you from molten cheese since you're too impatient to wait for it to cool down.

  • Don't like crust? Well, it's pretty much all crust.
  • Often made with more dough than filling.

More crusty

I just love calzone! The part which I love the most in any kind of pastry is the crust and naturally there is more of it in a calzone. Besides I love the filling of a calzone, which tends to be more fulfilling than what is on a pizza. Having said that I love pizza too!
Posted by sspi on 07-04-2017

Has to be calzone!

I have always loved a calzone over a pizza slice to be honest, there is just something satisfying about cutting into a calzone and having all the filling just ooze out, not to mention all the crust with the filling is just to die for.

Calzone also makes a refreshing change from a slice of pizza as well, after a while you can get bored of a pizza slice and being able to go over to calzone is a nice treat.

Posted by Shortie on 07-04-2017

Don't get me wrong pizza is my favorite, but I'm loving calzones, and ordering it more so. It's so filling, and I be so full off one. A small pizza folded in a half moon with whatever you want in there. So delicious.
Posted by tmccoy on 08-24-2017

Right with a drink.

Calzone is that snacks that you can really enjoy when you are taking it with q bottle of soft drinks. I know that it is something that is not always that easy to leave pizza and go for this, but it is a snacks that I really enjoyed while I was in school.
Posted by Barida on 11-01-2018

I will always prefer a pizza. I like eating Calzone as well but when it comes to a choice it is the pizza that wins the battle. I find Calzone a bit raw as well as dry. I have tasted a large variety of pizza but only a limited ones of Calzone.

I like to chew the hard crust and the crispness of a pizza which lacks somewhere in a Calzone.
Posted by amitkokiladitya on 07-04-2017
I also prefer pizza than calzone because I love the thin crust of pizza. The calzone is like eating the pizza with thick crust that I couldn’t have a full taste of what it is all about. I also love the hot sauce that I put on the pizza. Whenever we would order pizza for delivery, there will be leftover and it is nice to re-heat the leftover pizza in the oven toaster. The crust will be crunchy and nice to eat.
Posted by Corzhens on 11-01-2018
I think i will choose both. I usually get bored with something that is recurring. And for this reason, I need the change. So I don't usually exclude one over another unless it is chicken. I think calzone is good. And they have some variety too. But the pizza can be good during the weekend. So I usually prefer that in some cases. Again it depends on the mood and the way we are doing things there.
Posted by overcast on 07-04-2017
Believe me I have never tasted calzone. In fact I have never seen it, not even heard about this food item. I love pizza, it is one of my best foods. I have even tried making pizza myself and believe me I can make a good pizza. I don't need an oven to make pizza, I can even make it on pan.
Posted by vinaya on 07-04-2017
It used to be in the McDonald and the pizza hut. And recently even in the domino. That's how I get to know about it. But now a days they are not keeping it. And that makes you wonder if it's worth checking it out in the expensive restaurants.
Posted by overcast on 03-26-2018
Ha I'm not sure I can pick either of these! I like something called a Panzorotti and to be honest I don't know if that originated in Italy or if it's just North American Italian food. It's very similar to the calzone, but it's usually deep fried, not baked.
Posted by Lizzyib on 07-04-2017
I will say that I love them both, I like the pizza because, man, who don't like pizza? And it can have everything and it is very good, very tasty and the simply the best, but calzone is the same thing but it have everything inside, it is the best too, you can have everything that can be in a pizza.
Posted by BatmanWayne on 07-04-2017
I never heard of calzone, though I can bet it`s also very delicious. Still, I will go with traditional pizza, which presents all the best of Italy itself. Molten cheese, juicy tomatoes, mushrooms or meat, soft dough...Nothing can beat this delicious combination. Mamma Mia! You will never get enough with pizza, licking your fingers after each piece.
Posted by RosieCheeks on 07-05-2017
Both are actually good but I prefer pizza. I have always been a pizza lover and whenever I go to restaurants I always choose pizza over calzone. I find it easier to eat a pizza and there are no chances of under-cooking or overcooking when it comes to pizzas. There was a recent case in my country where someone had an under-cooked calzone from a restaurant and suffered from food poisoning.
Posted by Pixie on 07-06-2017
I love both and can't decide between the two. They're both great. I eat pizza more because it's more common, but it's such a treat to have a calzone every now and then. Calzones are also great to eat on the go. It saves a lot of time because you can eat it as you're walking to school and stuff. Unfortunately, they tend to be more expensive than pizza.
Posted by kataomoi on 07-07-2017
I enjoy both of them but I eat more pizza. I only have a calzone every now and then. Calzones do tend to be more expensive then pizza even though they are smaller. Any toppings that you have on pizza you can put in a calzone. Calzones have a lot more carbs because it iseems all dough and not as many toppings are pizza. I love Calzones but I do prefer pizza thr best.
Posted by Sue on 07-09-2017
I better choose pizza as I am fun of eating flavorful pizza slices most especially when it is hot. The thin crust is the one I love and full of toppings like cheese, bacon , pine apples, sauces, mushrooms and meat. I eat pizza three to five times a week as part of weekly budget.
Posted by rogel on 08-26-2017
Definitely love to eat pizza! With lots of sliced meat and flavorful toppings of cheese and other spices available at my favorite pizza parlor. Sometimes one whole large pizza can last a day with me and my girlfriend when we are so lazy to buy or dine out side. We just lie down on the bed and eat our pizza while watching movies on my phone.
Posted by narutos3nn1n on 09-18-2017
It’s only recently when I got to know of calzone. Okay, I ordered in the snack bar of one supermarket. Hmm, I guess pizza is better. The very first pizza I tasted was Shakey’s, that one with the thin crust and the flavor was manager’s choice. Some other pizza brands that we buy are Pizza Hut, Domino’s pizza, Yellow Cab and there’s also the local pizza called Fiesta. Again, I love pizza but only moderately.
Posted by Corzhens on 01-19-2018
It's easier to eat pizza than calzone and a single box of pizza can feed between 4-8 persons, plus for me it's more delicious than Calzones. Another thing is there's a lot more Pizza variants than calzone.
Posted by Kakashi2020 on 06-19-2018
Ah, pizza ! It's one of my comfort food off course. Nobody beats pizza, it;s just sensational.
