Removable Memory Card

Removable Memory Card
Storage space is one of the most important thing for anyone who makes use of any computer gadgets such as smartphone or laptops. Even though these gadgets comes with internal storage, the external memory drives are very important as well and removable memory cards are quite commonly used.

Comes in different space from 1GB to 64GB.
It's very easy to use.
It's affordable.

There are so many fakes in the market.
Easily misplaced when removed and kept carelessly.
Data lost can't be recovered.

Removable Memory Cards are Convenient

Aside from the evident fact that removable memory cards are lighter and smaller than flash drives, which makes them handy, I also find it flexible for its ability to adapt in any devices. This simply means, regardless of the availability of your device, may it be a personal computer, a camera or a smartphone, you will not encounter problems of switching through this gadgets. There are even flashdrives available that were built with a removable memory card inside. It is clear enough that a removable memory card is the better choice among these two.

Inexpensive and easy

I love removable memory cards because I can take pictures on my camera and then upload them to my laptop right away. I’ve also got way more of these than I have flash drives, so I guess that’s also saying something about my preference!

Flash Drives Easily Breaks

Flash drives often break even if you take care of them. Once you put one accidentally in the washer, it's dead. With memory cards, they are magnet, fire, water and dust resistant. Something flash drives don't have.

Removable Memory Card

It is affordable and easy to use. One can use it as USB through adaptors. The memory storage is not bad. If you buy a bigger spaced memory card then you can store much detail.

Removable Memory Card

Although I have been using flash drives more than the removable memory cards for a long time now, but if I am told to choose one then I will definitely go for the removable memory card. Nowadays the device i use more frequently to do all my daily work online is my mobile phone. the removable memory cards can be used in the mobile to expand their external memory. Even using Netflix and playing games is much easy and convenient when you do it on a mobile with the removable memory card

Smaller than a flash drive

Well I think I would go for SD cards here. All in all these two are not the ideal devices to back up files, It is still better to use external hard drives. But for travelling purposes , I would choose SD. Transferring files and downloaded movies are easily accessible in these storages. Plus very cheap and easy to keep, they won't take much space, I could fit them in my wallet.
Posted by emiaj55 on 10-22-2018

Removable memory card

For me it is more useful than flashdrive, they both stored files but removable memory card can be inserted in phones, cameras, ipod and etc. Unlike flashdrive that it can only copy files from other devices, and without usb pluh we can't use flashdrive.
Posted by nrnlss on 10-22-2018

small but great

Its so convenient. It can be used in any gadget. Some of the flash drives I've used becomes hot while being used which may cause some damage to your phone or laptop. The memory card does not. Just insert it in any of your gadget and its ready to go.
Posted by iambeth on 10-28-2018

Of course the SSD!

I'm pretty amazed that the Flash Drive got the majority of the votes. That's crazy. SSD drives these days are pretty affordable, are so much faster, and their capacity is so much bigger! You can also use them on computers, laptops, servers, and as flash drives (for storage). SSDs get my vote! They are simply superior to anything else at the moment.

Flash Drive

Flash Drive
Flash drive is one the most popular and commonly external memory storage devices used. It's very easy to use and with the way technology develops recently, there are fancy and portable flash drives that comes in wrist accessories.

Very portable.
It's very easy to use.
Comes in fancy designs.

It's very expensive.
Easily exposed to virus.

The Flash

I rather choose flash drive because it can be written and rewritten to an almost unlimited number of times, similar to hard drives. I can put large files (ie. Movies, Software installer, etc.) without any hassle.
Posted by cuapaul on 10-21-2018

Doesn't easily get corrupted

What I love about USB's are that they are very portable and don't get easily corrupted unlike Removable Memory Cards. I've used both in the past and I know that they're used in different ways, however if I were to compare the benefits I can get from the both of them, I can say that USB Flash Drives have much more benefits compared to RMCs.
Posted by Anonymous on 10-22-2018

easy and convenient

I prefer using flash drive as I find it more convenient and easier to use. I can easily transfer the files in flash drive as long as I can find the USB port, and it's very common now. I can't really find a port for memory card in all devices, so it isn't easy for me to transfer the files.
Posted by kaka135 on 10-21-2018

Flash Drive

I don't know anything about the removable memory card. But my kids bought me a flash drive and I love it!
Posted by cmoneyspinner on 10-22-2018

I prefer flash drive with OTG. The reason being it can be more useful for transferring the data. And also it can give more options for connecting to phone and the laptop. I prefer that and some of the time it can give me more control over the data transfer.
Posted by overcast on 10-22-2018

more sockets

I prefer this because you can plug it into more things and I think it is a bit more versatile than a memory card. Most TVs now even have USB plugs as well so you could just put in whatever you want to show on the TV and you can't do that with a card. Not all laptops have a memory card reader as well and most of them if not all have at least a USB socket.
Posted by Wubwub on 10-22-2018

A better pick.

To me, I believe that having to do with a flash drive is much more better than the removable disk. The flash is a nice device that you can use to save lots of files as you want and the nice thing about it is that you can make use of it whenever you feel like doing unlike what we have with the other option of making use of a memory card.
Posted by Barida on 10-23-2018

USB Flash Drive

Ever since I started using USB flash drives I never deviated from them. I use a multitude of different brands such as Kingston, and SanDisk. I prefer them to Memory Cards.
Posted by NickJ on 11-11-2018

After my horrible experience with removable memory card when on a fateful day without any notice I got an instruction to format my memory card but I declined it and automatically the memory card was damaged immediately and I lost all my data. I have since then chosen flash drives over memory cards.
Posted by Martinsx on 10-21-2018

I always choose to buy things that is popular. In that way I will easily find things about it. And a Flash Drive for me is more popular than Removable Memory card.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 10-22-2018

Much better storage

USB Flash Drives are far better than RMCs or Removable Memory Cards because they do have better storage. I've experienced using both of them and I've found that RMCs get easily corrupted specially if mishandled compared to USB Flash drives.
Posted by jaybee19 on 10-22-2018

It is easy to use and very handy. Another thing is that it is less expensive than the other one.
Posted by mark86 on 10-21-2018

Flash drive

I prefer flashdrive because it is more convenient to use. As most of the laptops or computers have a port for a flashdrive, it is much easier to transfer or download the files into the flashdrive. Also, it has various designs to choose from which is good so that you won't mistakenly exchange your flashdrive with other people's. You just have to be careful on inserting it into a port as it can easily get virus that can corrupt your files.
Posted by ajahcuizon on 10-21-2018

Easy to find

I am confused why a memory card is so easy to get corrupted! I have bought from reliable retail store and I only buy original ones. But after just a few months, it will always be corrupted. I became frustrated about that and never trusted memory cards again. I prefer using flash drive now to avoid the risk for lost data. Also, I always place my memory card along with my keys. Flash drive is easier to store than memory card.
Posted by anchoreztin on 11-07-2018

Flash drive

I vote for flash drive. Its easy to use. Its also easy to bring with you somewhere else.
Posted by jeffreyjose48 on 10-22-2018

USB flash drives are more convenient for me as it is supported by a lot of devices on the market today. Even smartphones now have attachments nowadays to cater to it.

I mainly use it to hold movies then attach it to our smart TV for viewing.

Posted by NerdIndeed on 10-22-2018

This one.

I choose Flash Drive because we all know that it's portable. It can easily connect from one computer to another or to other smartphones (if it's OTG). I've been using flash drives for many years now, and though it could be easier to connect my phone directly to the computer, I actually don't want virus to directly affect my phone. So, I'm going with flash drive.
Posted by theresajane on 10-23-2018

The flash is very fast, affordable and easy to be moved around unlike the card reader which can be separated from the main head. Without one part of the Card reader it is useless except you get a new one if one part of it is faulty it can corrupt your files or slow down your operation but the flash drive is in one piece and cant be disembarked for any purpose except to damage it, it is also very fast when in operation.
Posted by ElectorAlexander on 10-22-2018

Flash to the drive

I prefer flash drives generally. It is portable and I think it is more durable. Most of laptops and computer have usb ports but not all have memory card reader. There are also flash rives that can be connected with smartphones.
Posted by thejoyrevolution on 10-21-2018

More storage

Flashdrives have so much more storage than removable memory cards. You can fit so much more stuff on the vs memory cards
Posted by Jstreeter26 on 10-27-2018

USB is not a storage type, it's just a way of transferring it. Sure, it does limit the speed, but nowadays no storage method is as fast as USB 3.1 so the speed is limited by the storage itself. MicroSD cards use Flash storage, and the regular USB keys which you probably see being used everywhere, also use Flash storage. So theorically their speeds should be exual. However, it depends on the SD card and on the USB stick. SD cards havd classes from 2 to 10, 2 being the slowest and 10 the fastest. There is also SSD storage (not to confuse with SD) which is faster than Flash. SSD drives are much bigger, something like a smartphone in size, and they're usuay put inside laptops or connected externally with a (usually short) USB cable. TL;DR each USB device or SD card has different speed

Higher Compatibility

Flash drives are commonly used to transfer files between two devices. They are mostly compatible with many devices for that reason. Memory cards, on the other hand, are not always compatible with devices, especially old phones. Some phones do not support higher storage capacities that are formatted to exfat. These memory cards are kinda tricky to format to the old fat format to make it compatible unlike flash drives which are easy to format.
Posted by hstinscdln on 10-31-2018

Flash drive!

The biggest disadvantage of removable memory cards is that they can be lost so easily. With such a small size, it would take a lot of effort not to misplace a memory card. Meanwhile, flash drives are just the right size, and they have enough memory to serve their function.
Posted by astraherondale on 11-04-2018

The Best

Since I have ever used both the removable memory card and the flash drive, I can confidently say that flash drive is the best. Although it is a bit expensive, it is highly convinient.
Posted by Focusedwriter10 on 11-05-2018

Flash drives anytime

I would choose a flash drive anytime of the day. Flash drives are easy and convenient to use nowadays especially when it is required to pass certain files from one electronic gadget to another such as a computer to a laptop or even a computer to a television. I agree that memory cards are very useful especially for cellphones and for digital cameras but that's mostly it. They do have a great amount of space as well but it has a limit of use while the flash drive can be used in a variety of appliances. So therefore my vote has to go to the flash drive.
Posted by YoloBoy on 11-07-2018

Flash drive

Removable memory card and flash drive are both excellent in storing data but if I would have to choose between the two my vote will go to flash drive. Removable memory cards are so small and they can easily be misplaced.
Posted by antonToledo on 12-13-2018

Flash drive of course, because you can bring it anywhere and you don't have to remove it from a phone everytime you want to use it. You can also use it to reformat your computer so it's a thumbs up for me.
Posted by jayjaydimson on 10-21-2018
You can have a removable memory card and use just like a flash drive as long as you have memory card reader. Portability and ease of use are not the main problems of memory card, reliability is. Memory cards are not much reliable as the flash drive. Crashing is very common with memory cards. I am saying this from my experience. My flash drives have never crashed however, my memory cards have crashed multiple times.
Posted by vinaya on 10-22-2018
ACtually a memory card might be more versatile when you come to think of it as they allow one to easily transfer data to computers with the use of usb cables. The data can be shared from the device to the computer in just a similar manner as you would when you need to transfer information from a flash drive to a phone.
Posted by Martin on 10-24-2018
I was amused when I first saw the small flash drive that was designed for the camera. And I was even more surprised to see that the small flash drive has 2 plugs which can be plugged to the camera and the other terminal would be plugged to the USB of the computer. Technology is definitely advancing so fast that it is nice to think of the benefits that we get from it.
Posted by Corzhens on 12-11-2018
Although they are the same storage, it has difference on how to use it. Memory card basically is intended for cellphones and cameras where as Flash drive is designed for USB ports. Flash drive is very helpful and easy to use when you are transferring files from computers. It can be used also for transferring from and to cellphones using OTG.
Posted by vhinz on 10-22-2018
A flash drive is less versatile since you cannot be able to use it for a camera or any other devices that lack a usb port. with a memory card, you can insert it anywhere with an adapter or without at times and in some cases you can have a usb cable to assist you.
Posted by Martin on 10-24-2018
Depends on how you will need them. As an office staff, I rather choose the flsh drive because it is most used in our office. It will be hard for me if removable memory card is what I will use.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 10-22-2018
Depending on its individual use, I believe both are helpful in my day to day needs. I employ USB flash drives for my laptop and TV and a memory card for my smartphone.
Posted by NerdIndeed on 10-22-2018
If you have a memory card reader installed in the computer, or have a memory card reader, you can use memory card just like the flash drive. I have used memory card in the same way that I have used flash drive. Memory cards are basically meant for smartphones and camera and flash drive to transfer data between the computers.
Posted by vinaya on 10-22-2018
I think both of them are good especially since they can be used to transfer file to the laptop or from one laptop to another, flash drive is more faster than card reader when used in a laptop because it has been programmed for laptop only or anything that is accessible via USB port. The card reader can transfer virus from a phone to a laptop if connected and also it is easily expose can can be corrupted.
Posted by ElectorAlexander on 10-22-2018
I do think that both can transfer viruses making none the better in terms of transfer of malware since it is a negative thing. Nonetheless, i think that a flash drive will transfer malware in just a quicker rate as I have had many laptops infected by viruses from flash drives used by my friends on the computer.
Posted by Martin on 10-24-2018
Both of them has its uses. A removable memory card is used on mobile phones, Smartphones, phablets, digital cams and tablets while flash drives are typically used on PC's, Netbooks, Full sized digital cameras and Laptops. But there are also connectors that can be bought so that you can use both on all devices.

I'm a heavy smartphone and tablet user, so I guess I use a lot of memory cards to store data.
Posted by Kakashi2020 on 10-22-2018
That's true. Memory card are for cameras, tabs, smartphones, where as flash drive are meant to be used on a computer. Since flash drive are meant for phone, tabs and cameras, they are very delicate. If you are using flash drive on the computer, you should be very careful about handing, because memory card are prone to crashing.
Posted by vinaya on 10-22-2018
I know flash drive is trending now but I'm still using my memory card, it more convenience for me. I just dump it on my phone and I know it safe in there still when I maybe need to change my phone, unlike flash drive that needs one storing it away else where. Memory card is also less expensive.
Posted by lovely on 10-22-2018
If you are using a phone Memory Card is best suitable for you. But for some people that uses Computer using a Memory Card will be not that easy. Taking it and out of the phone takes time and that is what I hated about it. Unlike Flash drive it's always plug and play.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 10-24-2018
I agree with you my friend. This tends to be tedious and there are some phones whose memory card ports are located at a point where you need to remove the phone battery first before you take out the memory card. A lot of phone manufacturers nonetheless these days make internal non-removable batteries in phones that have memory cards port at better places and you can easily take it out.
Posted by Martin on 10-24-2018
Flash drive is really the best, because you can bring it anywhere without removing it from your phone.
Posted by jayjaydimson on 10-22-2018
I think removable cards are not universally supported. But the USB devices and the ports are supported in every device. So this can be a good idea for the people who want to get the most out of the device. I have learned that some of the USB devices are easy to use compared to the removable memory cards.
Posted by overcast on 10-22-2018
i prefer the flash drive. Its so easy to bring with you. You can put it inside your bag.
Posted by jeffreyjose48 on 10-22-2018
It is more accesible too. And it seems flsh drive can be just put simply in bag or in your big wallet with out worrying it to be damage. Unlike Memory Card that can be easily misplace if you put it in a large bag.
Posted by MomoStarr16 on 10-23-2018
The memory card can also be lost easily when you have taken it out of the adapter. There are numerous times when you can forget it inside your clothes or it can even dissapear within cracks like in furniture and tracing it is hard.
Posted by Martin on 10-24-2018
I agree with you. Flash drives are very convenient and it doesn't give you an ounce of hassle. It is very easy to carry, and it only involves a single thing. Unlike memory cards, you need to bring memory card readers with you or put them on your mobile phone and connect it to a USB cable, too much is going on.
Posted by theresajane on 11-07-2018
Though I voted for flash drives, I have to commend memory cards too. Memory cards also helped me in many ways and also helped my phone restore files when my phone cannot have more. Both have been helpful and it will be such a loss if one will disppear completely.
Posted by theresajane on 10-23-2018
Either or, because they are intended for the same purpose which is storing data and files. I have seen and owned a memory card that is placed inside a body of a flash drive that serves as its house so that the memory card can be used as a flash drive in a usb port or just take out the memory card if it will be used as a memory card for some gadget. Both varies in their storage size so I guess
Posted by Marako0406 on 10-25-2018
I prefer flash drive for the only reason that it is easier to use than memory card. Also, you can save bigger files using flash drives without the doubt that you might lose it because there's a bigger chance that you might it when you save it to memory card. Also, the two have different purpose and it depends on your needs as well.
Posted by mitan143 on 10-26-2018
I have to choose both as I am also using the sd card or the memory card for my camera and phone but of course for bigger files I would really choose flash drive. I have to agree with others that it depends as you can't use flash drive all the time especially when taking some shots on the camera. They are both useful in different way. It is just that flash drive has a lot more storage than of those memory or sd cards.
Posted by nekonieden on 10-27-2018
Flash drive is a lot accessible than the memory card, and also on its vulnerability, memory card chip(gold chip) is only showing outside of it, it can rip anytime, and if that happens it will not work anymore.
Posted by jayjaydimson on 10-27-2018
Flash drives provide a completely unique versatility in that they can be custom designed from the inner out to sell a brand or teach an audience. Their wellknown rectangular form can be converted into a unique layout suitable in your purpose. Producers also tend to create flash drives by using authentic shapes and colorings with a purpose to stand out to customers. Nothing is off limits in terms of custom shaped USB drive creativity.
Posted by jetselle on 10-27-2018
I like both and I use both. I use memory card for my phone and flashdrive if I am copying something from one computer and pass is to another computer.
Posted by allyn2017 on 10-29-2018
I like the Removable Memory Card. I think that it is neater and has more space then a flash disk. I also think that it is harder to destroy then a flash drive that gets spoilt at any time. I have never heard a removable memory card that has been destroyed. Once you install it you are good . I have had many flash drive that have been destroyed, and I have lost so much of my data in the form of sensitive information. I have had my removable memory card for four years and i have no problem with it.
Posted by jaymish on 10-30-2018
In terms of general, external memory storage, I definitely prefer flash drives to removable memory cards. The thing is that not every computer has an SD card reader, so you either have to carry a USB card reader with you, or you’re basically out of luck. However, literally every computer has a USB port which obviously means that you can carry your flash drive with you wherever you go and not have to worry whether or not you’re going to be able to access your information. Flash drives definitely win in terms of convenience and functionality.
Posted by Denis_P on 11-05-2018
I agree with you. Having a USB flash drive is more convenient than having SD card and SD card reader at the same time. Using a USB flash drive is easier and convenient.
Posted by theresajane on 11-06-2018
The flash drive or USB stick is one of the most convenient inventions with the computer. It gives us the luxury of having a backup of files in a small stick that we can keep in the purse. We always have a flash drive in the computer so that when someone uses the computer the files could be saved in the flash drive even for a temporary period only because later on we save all the files in an archive disk.
Posted by Corzhens on 11-05-2018
For me I guess it depends on where you are going to use it. If your just going to get small file, copy, or let say print in easy way or transfer it, USB flash drive is the one you need. If you need to get bigger files, as back up, that needs more space for your personal files need, then you better use the removable memory card to save all your files. So it really depends on where you are going to use those.
Posted by romy_ter on 11-07-2018
Removable memory vs. Flash drive: Both are useful in saving important documents. But, I'd rather prefer flashdrive. It has a large-storage content to save more informations such as thesis, plans and also you can save multiple movies here. In printing process, flashdrive makes things easier. In memory card, there is a tendency that some files may deleted/removed unintentionally during removing/unmounting memory card.
Posted by mhingnhormz on 11-18-2018
I'll go for removable memory card over flash drive because it is smaller and easy to keep with your phone. Cell phone is the most used device in the world and removable memory card makes it easy for us to check our files anytime we want with ease. It's instant. you don't need cable adapters. Unlike flash drives which some devices doesn't have the proper port for that so you need an adapter.
