School choir

School choir
Extracurricular activities are always encouraged at school. Joining a school choir or a school band are among the most popular options. Faced with a choice of joining the school choir or the school band, here is what you need to consider about a choir. Obviously a choir is about vocal music. Learning choir music means sparing time to practice regularly. The advantage is it is not as expensive since there is no need to spend money on instruments. One should be interested in learning music too apart from having the ability to sing. Rehearsals and commitment are important for good results. There is the need to blend with others in singing as well as have good timing. Good sense of hearing is important as is lung capacity. Sense of beat is also crucial for mastering any form of music, including voice.

Pros
a. This is a rather affordable way to be learn music; b. It is nice to sing with other singers.

Cons
a. A lot of practice and rehearsals will be needed; b. The student needs to have good sense of hearing, beat, and deep breath, apart from a good voice as well to form part of the choir.

Preferred Choir

I was in both over the years when I was in junior high and high school. I must say that I preferred choir over the two. Both were a lot of fun, but singing just brought me into a better mood. I was a decent trumpet player, but was no where near top seat in high school. I know that I was also not the best singer but it was still fun to sing with a group of people, especially when they were really fun songs. My favorite time of year was the holidays as we often sang some very pretty and nice Christmas music.

I love to sing

I was a member of the school choir back in grade school. I loved to sing. And though my voice wasn't that beautiful, I somehow managed to get in. Lol. Aside from being in the school choir, I was also a member of our church choir. I would sing church songs every Sunday morning. It was fun.

I also liked to be in the school band. But I didn't know how to play any musical instrument. Haha! I only learned how to play the guitar when I was in college.

Was I ever a member of the choir after grade school? Nope. My voice became uglier and uglier as I grew old. Haha.

I like the choir

The school band has so much talent. I do enjoy music a great deal but I also believe that music is not complete withouy a choir I think that you need the voices to conplete the music. I think that one complimnets thw other quite nicely.

I was in it

My school didn't have any school bands when I was still going but we did have a big and quite successful choir. I was a part of the school choir for around 2 or so years until I got told that I can't sing and the teacher kicked me out, haha.

She never liked me so I wasn't too surprised but I think that school's choirs can be very fun since you socialize with your peers.

School Choir

Maybe I am prejudiced because I have been in some school choirs, but I do prefer school planes. It is just one of the things that I grew up loving so that is why I prefer school choirs.

Choir

I've done it all- played in orchestras, bands and sang in choir. Band is showy but it's super physically demanding and the band teachers typically tend to be super overbearing. Plus instruments are expensive in the long run and they constantly need maintenance or you can get sick. The valves hold mold and bacteria, pads always need replacing, the cleaning utensils, ect. Which is why I stopped band early on and focused on strings and choir.

Singing is a lot harder than people think, especially when you're singing in a group. One person singing the wrong note can really throw it off. Bands and orchestras, an offnote can easily be covered up. Plus endings are super hard too. S's especially.

School band

School band
Joining the school band is another intriguing option. Ideally the student will have prior knowledge of music theory and an instrument, but in some schools these are taught so as to give an equal opportunity to all. A school band can be a jazz band, or a march band. Either way, the student is exposed to a lot of musical instruments and learns to play one or more of these instruments in a group. Rehearsals and practice are necessary as are motor skills since it is all about control of fingers and hands or, one’s use of breath and fingers. All musical instruments are expensive so taking one on hire to confirm the student’s interest would be a better way to go about it.

Pros
a. It exposes the child to different types of musical instruments; b. The student in a band can learn to play alongside other musicians.

Cons
a. Students have to spare a lot of time to learn how to play an instrument as well as how to read music; b. Musical instruments are expensive and so one may need to hire.

LOVE high school bands

I absolutely love watching high school bands play. There are not many places you can go to actually see a full band perform. To me, the best part of attending a high-school football game is watching the band at halftime. I was in choir in high-school and it was really fun, but I always really admired the band - especially the drum line. I love hearing all the different instruments come together. School bands represent a good time - a football game, a pep rally, or a parade!

School band

Personally, I think the school band is a lot better. If I had the choice, then I would also much rather join the school band. It allows you to showcase your talents if you are able to play any instruments plus if you don't like to sing then it's fine. If you are not much of a singer then you just wouldn't be able to join the choir whereas with the band, you still can participate.

Go with a bang

I love watching school band very much. My teen joined the violin club during her teens in school. She had the opportunity to perform in a school band where a concert was held in her school hall. Lots of parents and students came to watch the school band performance. It was an orchestra with 2 songs, perfect melody with different instrument. Awesome !

Band!

Learning an instrument can definitely bring benefits to a youth's life like discipline and motor skills. That is why I favor a band over a choir

So much fun.

I remember that during my high school me and 4 other friends formed a garage band and we ended up doing some shows in the school gym (I guess we were good, haha). These are - definitely - great memories of a good time.

Learning.

I haven't joined any bands or choirs at school, or at least not for a longer period of time, however if I'd go with something, it'd be most likely the band, because I'd like to learn how to play an instrument and other stuff around it. Learning one instrument can help you learn others later on too, so that's a plus.

Band!

I've always wanted to be part of a band since I was a child. I love singing and playing any instruments. So, if I am to choose between school choir versus a school band. School band will always and will remain my only choice.

Band fan here!

Schools around the world has so many extracurricular activities for the students to enhance their talents and bring out the hidden talents. One of them I like the most is forming a band. For me, it is so cool if you are in the band in your school. School days are fun especially if you are famous! You look like a celebrity in your school and a star that anyone wants to reach. If you are still studying, try to form a band and make lots of fun!

School band

I prefer this even though I think both can be equally rewarding. I just prefer having instruments to play with instead of just relying on vocals. Both can be fun, but what I like most with a band is the variety. You can move from drums to trumpets and learn as much as you can whereas with choirs you only learn vocals.

School band rocks

I have only experienced a school choir but not a band. It is the musical instruments that will make me want to join a band. I have this curiosity and energy to play instruments and experiencing a band or a school band will be very satisfying.

Singing isn't as easy as it seems. In fact, a really good singer is as talented as any band musician. In that case, the stereotype that the choir is this goof-off place and the band is full of hard-working students is misleading. However, though, back in the day, my high school indeed had a choir class and it was a joke, but lots of fun.

I like the school band more, it helps to mold a child better.they do not only learn songs but also learn to play and use all kind of musical equipment. The school band is all encompassing it prepares a child for both artistic visual, audio and self reliant acts

I was member of the school glee club which is different from the school choir which is considered the elite in group singing. I never did have the desire to join the school band because I don’t know how to play any musical instrument at the time and I also don’t enjoy walking or parading to be seen by the people. With the glee club, we just sing in school programs and that’s all.

Joining a school choir is a much better alternative since you will be able to learn how to sing well with other people that have good voices.
