Self treatment for sore throat?

Self treatment for sore throat?
I have a chronic sore throat problem for the past 4 days now and I have done literally everything that I can think of to take care of this problem but all to no avail.

I have chewed raw ginger, onions and even some garlic as well. I was asked to take warm water too which I have done but it's not getting better.

What other self treatment should I use for this problem?

We have the same problem. Recently I had a chronic sore throat like yours for almost a week. Hahahaha I also chewed raw ginger just to make the pain go away. Try putting the ginger in hot water and make a ginger tea this is more effective than chewing a raw ginger and also take some medicines for a sore throat. Go to your nearest pharmacy and ask for a medicine for a sore throat. Having enough rest also important for the recovery.

Oh, I felt bad for not searching about the natural ways to ease the sore throat. I'm glad that I've come across this comment.

It could be a bacterial infection and requires medication with antibiotics especially for if it's not getting better for days already. You should visit your doctor and go for a check-up.

Exactly. I'd say again that prevention is better than cure and experts say one needs to stay away from spicy foods or environments where there's a lot of smoke or chemical fumes that might cause the inflammation to avoid having this illness.

Yes, you could be right. My rule for myself and my family is if a sickness or a condition is still persistent after three days of self medicating then we go the doctor to have it checked out. Waiting for it to get worse will not only cost you more but can also affect others around you if it is infectious.

I had experienced this before. I had to take antibiotics because of bacterial infection. I swear, having that kind of sore throat is very annoying.

Indeed it can be bacterial infection. In some cases fried food consumption also leads to that sort of the throat issues. I have seen that happening for many people. In some other cases having cleaned up throat issues I can say ginger works in most cases.

Gargling warm water is certainly the best solution. Do not take tablets or antibiotics, getting used to the medicines is not good. Warm water with a pinch of salt will certainly help you get better. Take it thrice a day and you should be better.

After taking some natural medications and the sore in your throat is still there, better see a Doctor for the best medication. We can give you some suggestions like taking some throat lozenges which are used to relieve discomfort caused by mouth and throat infection. However, to avoid complications go to the expert.

Sore throat can be a problem which often happens during Winters. I think that drinking warm water all the time is very necessary when you are having sore throat. You can also have hot milk with a teaspoon of Tamarind powder mixed in it everyday in the morning and at night, in order to reduce the problem of sore throat. It is also very necessaruy to cover you head especially when you are going out in the open when you are experiencing the problems like cold , fever and sore throat.

When I have sore throat, I use to boil ginger and then drink it. It's good for the throat and gives some comfort.

Prevention is still better than cure. To prevent a sore throat, stay away from people who are sick with an infectious illness like the flu or strep throat and also wash your hands frequently.

Usually I make lemon and honey tea. It helps to alleviate some of the pain. Biggest things you can really do are ensure to hydrate as much as you can and also rest to let your body heal itself.

I usually gargle with the warm water and small amount of salt. That helps out most of the time for the soar throat case. I have had some of those issues with the rainy season for the throat too. But in some odd cases it can be pretty different if you ask me. I guess if you want proper treatment for the same using ginger and garlic would help too.

Personally, drinking hot water mixed with honey has helped my sore throat a lot. Heat up water until it is quite hot and pour it into a cup. Then put too tablespoons of honey inside the cup and mix it well. Drink this and hopefully you will feel better.

My grandparents would boil a piece of ginger and boil it in 2 glasses of water. Of course you have to clean and peel the ginger first. After boiling for 5 minutes it is ready to be drank. You can add sugar to deaden the taste but it is advised to drink the concoction in its pure state. Take a glass and sip it slowly. Feel the heat on your throat. Drink the hot concoction twice a day.

self treatment for a sore troat: Yes it is better to use a self treatment first before you take a medicine like anti biotics because if you make your used to take a medicine it will not be that effective when the times you needed it the most. The self treatment that i learned from my parents is garling a warm water with some salt when you wake up in the morning, and try to make the ginger a candy like, just put it in your mouth but be sure it was already clean and peeled off, it was effective if you can do it when you sleep.

I experienced this as it was very uncomfortable feeling. I also had a cold and cough while suffering from sore throat at that time. It was very uncomfortable that I have to buy an anti-biotic and it took me one week before it healed. I always had a strepsils with me as my throat can be itchy at times.

While the saltwater solution is more usually used, gargling baking soda mixed with salt water can help relieve a sore throat as well. This solution can kill off bacteria and prevent the growth of yeast and fungi.

It sounds strange, but whenever I have a sore throat I drink warm water with honey and cayenne pepper in it. The honey will coat your throat and the cayenne pepper has analgesic properties. It seems counter-intuitive, but the cayenne actually feels great on a sore throat. It's warm and draws blood to the area helping it to recover, too. Hope you feel better!

When I had a sore throat that lasted for about a week, I already went to the hospital for it to be checked up. The doctor said I just need to let my throat rest. He told me not to talk or not use my vocal cord. Whenever I need to talk, he told me to just whisper. Before going to the hospital I already had self treatments like gargling warm water with salt solution and antibacterial menthol candies.

I usually just take lozenges to minimize that annoying feeling of sore throat especially when I'm going to sleep. I find it helpful to drink chamomile tea, I don't know why though. I always try to drink lots of water even when it's too painful to swallow, then gargle antibacterial mouthwash twice a day and doing these usually stop the sore throat after 1-2 days.

A sore throat is usually the result of inflammation due to a bacterial infection. In order to get rid of the infection, you’re going to have to consume things that kill bacteria. My number one recommendation is to gargle with warm salt water at least three times a day. Tea and warm water are fine to drink because they won’t irritate your throat as much, but the heat alone isn’t going to cure the problem. In fact, sometimes warm drinks can make it worse because warm environments cause bacteria to propagate.

To a lukewarm cup of water, add 12 grams of salt and 12 grams of baking soda. Gargle at least three times a day, and it should make your throat feel better almost instantly, and cure it entirely within a couple of days.

At the first sign of sore throat I gargle with salt water. I also make mini throat drops made of ginger, lemon zest, lemon peel, honey, and sugar. It helps a lot since ginger is good for the throat. But if you can't make those drops, just use store bought lozenges. They work as well.

It has been 4 days. If you think that it is getting worse then I suggest you go have it checked by a doctor. It might be infected and antibiotics might be needed. Waiting longer might cost you more.
Posted by pencilneckgeek on 12-17-2018
Antibiotics (that should be prescribed by a doctor). You might have a case of an infection in your amygdala. If you wish to avoid going to the doctor, an unorthodox approach to your sore throat is to drink a few shots of pure vodka or rum, spaced out by a couple of hours each. The alcohol in them can soothe and disinfect your throat. Only do this if you're not taking any type of medicine and if you are older than the drinking age requirement.

Get a glass of lukewarm water and get a lot of salt in it. Gargle this water and you should feel better. Also try taking a teaspoon of honey a few times per day and swallow it slowly so it covers your throat! Also over the counter medication for that is easy to find so maybe that with a painkiller, and should be gone in a few days.

You should dress yourself and cover your neck like the temperature outside is -20, trust me. Also, you should drink a lot of tea, believe me. Eat lemon and honey also. I had similar problem to yours, I ate that and my problem was gone. If all of those things with garlic did not help and if this what others and I recommended to you does not work, I think you should go and visit a doctor, just to be sure that it is nothing serious.
