Long finger nails look good for females but not for men, unless you are a guitarist and you do plucking. The only time when I had long nails, basically on my right hand was when I was learning yo play a gitar.

There are women who have long fingernails and there are those who have short ones. I don't mind as long whether a woman's nails is short of long. What's important is that she takes the time to clean them. In addition, women should be mindful of their nail polish. I see women with fading nail polish in their fingernails. This just makes the nails look dirty.

It's different for men. Men don't look good with long fingernails. That's why I always cut my nails whenever the grow a bit long.

There are some men who grow their pinkie nails to long lengths. I don't know their purpose. I don't know if they think it looks cool. But for me, it doesn't look cool. It actually looks very unhygienic.

My male classmates before used to have longer pinky nails than other nails too, we also don't know why they do it. My females friends call it as boogie hooker. Lol. They teased them that the purpose of it is to get rid of those boogies.

I love to have long nails but can only keep the short ones. The reason is that my nails chip off very easily as soon as they attain a particular length. This constant chipping makes them look untidy so I prefer to keep them at a decent short length.

I like short nails. I looks more professional and hygienic. Long nailed women are either a model or they need to do that because it is necessary, like occupationally necessary. Don't even get me started with male who has long nails. Disgusting...

I used to grow long nails before and I make sure to always make it clean. I keep it long and tidy but it feels uncomfortable sometimes when you try carry things and some chores like doing laundry. I tried to carry few book but its quite heavy that slip I'm my hands and broke my pinky nail. It hurts and bleed and I'm also having trouble cutting it because everytime I try to cut it the nails dig deeper to my skin and it hurt a lot. From then on I never grow my nails too long and always try to keep it shorts.

Well, I'm a guy, so naturally, I've never really put a lot of thought into my fingernails. Because of this, I've always kept them short and trimmed. When my fingernails grow out and become long, they make simple tasks more challenging. Typing and cooking are prime examples, along with texting on my smartphone. I just find short nails easier to manage. It makes my life more efficient. Not too short where it starts to hurt, but just enough.

I'm very conscious of my fingernails. This is particularly the case because I find they grow very fast. I drink a lot of almond milk and I think this is why my nails grow fast, it's the calcium. Another reason is probably because I keep clipping them. I'm not sure what the connection is there or maybe it's just more noticeable because I'd rather see them short. I like to see women with short or very little but well kept fingernails. I'm not trying to be stereotypical here but in my experience I find that people with shorter nails tend to get a lot more things done.

When I was in college, most of my female classmates were wearing nail polish on their long fingernails. But I am not comfortable with long nails that's why I have short fingernails all the time. That habit of mine persisted and until now my fingernails are short. It's cheaper that way lol.
Posted by Corzhens on 08-05-2017
I prefer that people always keep their fingernails short. Having long fingernails is very impractical and hinders a person from doing many tasks well. I can't imagine how a person with long fingernails could type on a keyboard or do household chores. You could force me to apply nail polish on my fingernails but I would never agree to letting them grow very long.

I've always much preferred short well manicured nails - not just on myself but on others too and especially on men - as not only are they way more practical if you do a lot of gardening, typing, cooking or manual work - but they're a whole lot more hygienic too.

That said - as the length and cleanliness of someone's nails is something that is noticed pretty quickly by the majority of the population - I have to say that - although I generally don't mind medium nails on other people so long as they are clean - its the long to talon like nails that I find extremely off putting and especially so if the hand that has them - is handing me food or a drink.

I prefer short fingernails as I am a guy. I feel the need to trim my fingernails. It's also required because my job requires me to meet people and represent the company so I need to be neat and tidy Keeping a proper appearance is important to give a good impression to clients. Long fingernails is impractical as it will impede me during my gaming sessions.
Posted by fishmonk on 08-05-2017
It depends on my mood or if I know an upcoming occasion is coming and I want my nails to be long so I can paint it. For the most part I have my nails short to medium length though.
Posted by simplym on 08-05-2017
I keep my nails short since it is easier to do things with short nails for me. I find it hard to type if my nails get to a certain length. I also have thin nails that tear and break easy so it is really hard to keep them long. If I were to get my nails done, I would choose to have them a little bit longer than I would normally let mine grow because I like how they look. I have seen some people who will have really long nails but I think that is just gross and don't like them. I definitely don't think men should have long nails and when I see their nails long, it creeps me out.
Posted by morgoodie on 08-05-2017
I agree with you on that one. Men with long fingernails creep me out too. I guess society has taught us that men should have shorter fingernails instead of longer fingernails.

When I was first hired at the bank, i had long nails. I had them manicUred every other week. But when I was assigned as teller, I experienced a hard time counting money with it, that I have to cut them short. Since then, I already have short nails . I find it a bit itchy whenever my nails are growing a bit longer than what It used to. When that happens, I cut it short again. My hands feel lighter too with short nails.
Posted by SimplyD on 08-05-2017
I like a woman to have short finger nails If it has style and looks good a short finger nail would look good too. the long finger nails give me the sensation that woman may be a witch or something, I simply don't like it!

I would love to keep long fingernails but mine looks very ugly, squarish and dirt keeps accumulated in between.

Hence I prefer short fingernails, neat and tiny. Furthermore mine keeps breaking chip nails at the edges which I think my fingernails are too soft. It is mire hygiene, save money on the nail polish and no need to go for nail treatments
Posted by peachpurple on 08-06-2017
My nails are very short because I eat them, it's a problem that I have since many years ago and I still can not overcome, sometimes I control and I stop doing it for a few days but I always end up falling. It's frustrating, I think I need serious professional help. The good thing is that my nails are always short, more than I want but well. I hate the way the long ones look, both in men and women, and they don't have any good use.
Posted by luispas on 08-06-2017
I also have this problem. In the past I had a very big compulsion, but today I'm more in control of it. Anyway, I'd rather keep them always short to avoid this problem.
Posted by hermessantos on 08-06-2017
It's awesome to hear that you overcome this issue, I have hope :) I agree with you, they look better. Sadly, my nails look horrible because they are way too short. I need to dedicate more time to solve this problem, I don't want to have to hide my fingernails everywhere I go anymore. It makes me really sad sometimes, I just can't avoid to do it, it's really hard.
Posted by luispas on 08-07-2017
When I was younger, I used to chew on my finger nails all the time, too. Terrible habit. But in 8th grade, I got braces and could no longer chew on my finger nails because of the brackets on the fronts of my teeth. This inadvertently broke me of my fingernail chewing habit, which I was grateful for! Since I went nearly 3 years without being able to bit my fingernails, I no longer feel the urge to do so!
Posted by TheArticulate on 08-07-2017
Congratulations, that's really great. I used brackets too, and I was able to chew them anyway, if not, I won't have this issue anymore. I need to arm myself with courage and disposition, but it's difficult. Once I was recommended that when I feel like biting my nails, instead of that, I ate a candy so my anxiety would stop. I tried it but I don't have candies on my pocket all the time.
Posted by luispas on 08-07-2017
I think short fingernails are better even for women. It's easier to take care of much more resistant to impact and also much cleaner. I think that it is an indispensable part of hygiene to keep nails trimmed and neat.
Posted by Marvadaum on 08-06-2017
I'd rather keep my nails always short. I like to cut them weekly, so this is not hard for me.
Posted by hermessantos on 08-06-2017
I have my nails slightly long and cut in a square-shape. I love to decorate them with the french-dip style and that way my nails always look elegant and clean.

I can't stand the feeling of typing with long nails and because I'm always on my computer, it would bother me quite a lot. The clicking sound of nails hitting a keyboard is a huge pet peeve of mine, whether they are my nails or other people's nails. Although long nails look nice, they are hard to maintain and can chip easily and a lot of dirt and random stuff gets stuck under your nails, which is pretty gross. For practical and sanitary reasons, I prefer to keep my nails short.

Yes the clicking is one of the reasons I keep my nails short. The clicking is so annoying! A coworker of mine has long nails and I can hear her clicking away at her keyboard sometimes. It drives me crazy!

Short... I don't like the long one, I know on some female they look good but of males they are just nasty of course. Usually in fictions you even see them just on evil guy, big malevolous wizards or stuff like that so they aren't really well received by the general opinion.... ON females, on the other hand, they are more classy and many many girls like to take care of long fingernails even painting them.
Posted by Xilkozuf on 08-07-2017
I cannot stand the feeling of stuff underneath my fingernails, so I keep them short all the time. I suppose there's also the fact that I'm a guy and culturally, guys generally don't have long finger nails. Just what I grew up around and how I turned out to be, I suppose.
Posted by TheArticulate on 08-07-2017
I always had short nails and just recently I started to let them grow. I like my long finger nails. I think they look really nice. I like keeping them painted different colors. It was difficult at first to type with them but I have gotten use to it. The only bad things about long nails is that sometimes they break off.
Posted by Sue on 08-08-2017
I like my long nails. I think they are pretty. I don't let them get super long though, because otherwise they can get in the way (especially with typing). I also don't like when they are so long that they start to curve.

I never followed the trend of squared off nails. I don't paint them too often either, since it isn't really that healthy.
Posted by Zyni on 08-08-2017
I used long fingernails for a period of time until I started to learn to play the guitar. Everybody knows that if you have long nails is almost impossible to play so it wasn't a major issue for me to cut them and since then I don't let them grow much. I got used to it and now I don't have to deal with this painful thing of breaking a nail.
Posted by reginafalange on 08-08-2017
Short nails are cleaner than long ones, less dirt gets inside of them, plus as a male we don't tend to care much about long nails, which is more important to women for the most part. I cut my nails as soon as they get long.
Posted by kamar19 on 08-12-2017
I tend to nibble on my nails so I have never had long nails. Long nails look kind of good but they get in the way, and require a lot of maintenace. About a week ago I saw a woman who had more like claws instead of nails. They were at least 3 or 4 inches long, I don't know how she did things like type on a computer for instance. It seems like it would be a difficult task.

Personally, I prefer to have short fingernails myself, but I love my girlfriend's long fingernails. When she scratches my back or caresses my arms with them, it is quite pleasurable. She also takes good care of them, and she has pretty hands just in general. It's fun giving her a manicure as a gift and seeing what color or colors she comes home with on her nails. So, short for me, but long for her.
Posted by JoeMilford on 08-13-2017
I personally prefer my finger nails to be longer, but I only keep my nails natural and never do fake nails. As someone who does a lot of artistic and crafting hobbies, I find that longer finger nails give me more mobility in the things I do. When I scrapbook, it's easier to pick up and place tiny stickers when my finger nails are long. Likewise, when I work with beads for projects, longer nails make it easier to grasp the beads. Longer nails also help me with gardening too. I can use my nails to pinch off spent (dead) flowers easily, or my nails also help me to dig out rocks that might be embedded in the soil I'm planting in.

I prefer short fingernails and I'm not talking just about my self. I don't like women with long fingernails, they don't look hygienic and they look nasty. Also, long nails get dirty all the time and people have to keep it clean because a person with dirty nails looks like a homeless person.
Posted by cubo on 08-17-2017
Although I really love my long fingernails, I need to have them short because they always get broken and you know that can be really uncomfortable and of course, I don't like that. Besides, they don't get as dirty as they would be when they are long.
Posted by Rebelssis on 08-17-2017
I've worn my fingernails long since I was 12 years old I think. They look beautiful, and it's always fun to try different nail polishes and fun designs. They're definitely part of my style, I don't wear much makeup and I also don't have time to style my hair, so having long and pretty fingernails is my way of staying fashionable and stylish.
Posted by MadeInEsca on 08-18-2017
It's ok whether you like your nails short or long. It's up to the person ofcourse. Long fingernails look stylish specially with nail polish. While me, I like my fingernails short, i'm having a hard time maintaining long fingernails, they usually get broken before growing long. It's hard to maintain it due to the works i'm doing. So it really depends on the person and her work if she can maintain long fingernails.
Posted by zheh on 08-22-2017
I particularly like my nails always short (I see no reason not to be like this), but I like to see women with long nails because I think they look even prettier and more attractive. Of course this isn't a rule for them to look prettier, but I think it usually helps.
Posted by wiseagent on 08-22-2017
I voted short, now don't get me wrong! I love long fingernails on a woman, but I am a man and nothing disgusts me more then a guy with long fingernails. I keep my fingernails so short that if I can see the white in the nail then it's too long. I always keep my fingernails trim and I cut them 2+ times a week depending on how much they grow.
Posted by Soulwatcher on 08-22-2017
Of-course a short trimmed, clean fingernails is a must for everyone as it is neat looking and probably healthier on your personal hygiene. Most girls prefer it long and with color, I don't find it cool as the thing I hate the most is a pinch of girl with long and sometimes sharp fingernails. Although its okay if it comes from the girl I love.
Posted by narutos3nn1n on 08-25-2017
I am a woman who hates long nails. My natural nails are very healthy and once I tried to keep them long but as stupid as it sounds I had nightmares about it being unhygienic.... I think long nails aren't practical at all and they don't even look attractive. You can look good with trimmed nails and paint them anyway, you don't need to have claws to look "stylish".
Posted by felabruno on 08-29-2017
oh my love for cute,well-trimmed,well-painted long nails just like what we have on the photo but work would not allow me to be great,I mean,I can't keep this long nails that I love so much because of my married status.I have no help,so I virtually perform all the odd and even work lol.As such I can't keep my long nails.

Long fingernails on women look very good but not too long. I think there is a limit because if you are going to a restaurant and the server has the fingernails extremely long it does not look pretty at all. It doesn't look hygienic or on trend. On men, it looks awful when they use longer finger nails. I mean, I am dating a boy or a girl?. I just don't like it. I prefer a man with short fingernails it looks more masculine and sexy.
Posted by pizzalover on 09-01-2017
I like to have well trimmed and very clean finger nails rather than having long uncut finger nails. it is so important for me to look clean and presentable to some one. Because I interact with my customers at work and having poor hygiene is strictly prohibited. Its not our management wants that why I have short finger nails, because I simply want lo look clean.
Posted by rogel on 09-02-2017
I am always of the opinion that having short nails makes one look decent and smart. I don't understand the need why people keep long nails, maybe it is for fashion or just to look beautiful in the face of their loved ones or what ever, but keeping longer nails will limit one to so many things he/she would have used the hands to do and that is the reason I do not see any smartness in keeping longer nails by people around me
Posted by Barida on 09-12-2017
Short finger nails are better because if your finger nails is too long then it can easily injure others which is not good thing.
Posted by babyright on 10-07-2017
I will never desire to have long fingernails as they look dirty and so irritating to have on my fingers. Whenever my fingernails are starting to grow long, I immediately cut it out since I do prefer to have clean short fingernails. I believe that only girls would want to have long fingernails since it's a fashion statement for them.
Posted by ColdFlameChris on 11-09-2017
Yea, females like to keep long nails which I believe it okay if they can keep it clean but keeping dirty and long is really unpleasant to the eyes.
Posted by Frank on 12-10-2018
I will have to admit that long fingernails look very pretty especially when polished.

I like to keep mine short because they look neat. I can also avoid accidental injuries when keeping my nails short. My nails mostly break when they get wef and I prefef to keep them short especially when I do laundry.
Posted by mildredtabitha on 12-13-2017
Not surprised most voted for the short. Long fingernails are not for working women. They are impractical and get in the way of accomplishing my work! But that's just me.
Posted by cmoneyspinner on 12-18-2017
long fingernails look sexier to me. I don't really have an explanation on why and I don't really like them super long but just having a bit of length is enough to make me favor them. It's not that I don't find short fingernails that less attractive or appealing either but I think having a bit more extra adds a lot to the appeal. I guess it also depends on the person too as different styles suit different people.
Posted by Wubwub on 12-30-2017
I like short nail because it's hygienic. You can do many things when your firgernails are short because you won't worry it will break. Having long nails is very high in maintenance because you have to clean the nails and put nail polish to make it beautiful always.

I like seeing women with long finger nails it looks feminine and adds to their charm but for guys like me I prefer short nails because eversince I was a kid I had short nails and it was prohibited in schools for boys to have long nails, which I think is for the best.

It is the tradition that women should have long fingernails that’s why that image is stuck on your mind. I don’t blame you because that’s also my attitude on fingernails before until I realized that short fingernails are more comfortable for me. Besides, I don’t fancy the nail polish and my only idiosyncrasy in my nails is the cleaning of the cuticle when I go to the salon once in a while.
Posted by Corzhens on 10-14-2018
Long fingernails look lovely on females when they are long and well maintained. They don't look nice on the male hands though. My fingernails have to be kept short I've noticed because my dog Loopy Loo comes very close to my fingers at times and I'm frightened of poking her eye with my nails. I think that anyone who works medical, with children, or with animals should keep their nails short.

Well, I love to see ladies with well manicured fingers and without dirt trapped in the nails but some people are just dirty and keep long and dirty nails which isn't pleasant to see.
Posted by Frank on 12-10-2018
I am not comfortable of having long fingernails. I usually cut my fingernails every week. I hate it when dirt comes into my nails and make my nails look dirty. My mother used to say that having fingernails long can cause pimples that's why I avoid keeping them long.

I prefer to have shorter nails. I do not know why long nails give me that feeling that my hands are always dirty. I know that a lot of girls prefer long fingernails because it looks for feminine but not me. I cut my nails the soonest I notice that its long.

I dont like long nails. It is not suit in my fingers. And aside from that I maintained my nails short most of the time because for me the shorter nails you have the more you avoid germs and bacterial staying inside your nails.
Posted by mark86 on 11-03-2018
In my country a lot of native food is consume with our fingers and as such one need to keep the fingers short and devoid of germs. So people that value their health keep short nails.

I think that long fingernails look good on girls and women but don't look good on men. However these days some men also grow their nails as a kind of style statement and it looks very weird, to say the least. If one is not able to take good care of there long nails then it can very quickly become a health hazard for that person. Ba nail hygiene can make the person sick and vulnerable to many infectious diseases. I feel that even women should avoid growing big nails and prefer short nails instead.

I am a woman and I prefer short fingernails. I really don't like long fingernails, it is not practical. I tried it before but I found that it is not good for me. I like to garden that's why I need them short or else it will be dirty. Most of my colleagues have long fingernails and it is nice to look at but I just can't give up my gardening.
Posted by Alymae on 11-20-2018
I prefer longer nails, just because it looks good with my hands. My hands are tiny and small, so I need longer nails to at least make my fingers longer. My hands tend to look manly when I cut my nails so I usually wait for it to grow longer before going out with my friends.
Posted by mftmadam on 11-28-2018
I prefer to keep my nails short, I'm never comfortable with long nails because of germs so I only go for short nails so that I will be able to do justice to the diet trapped in there.
Posted by Frank on 12-10-2018
I don't want to trim my nails too short because dirt can easily get trapped under and getting them out progressively shortens my nails. I always leave a decent distance between the nail core and the tip to leave room for cleaning or applying manicure or pedicure on some occasions. I'm not comfortable with long nails either because I usually work with files and they can break easily. Manicured long nails do look good for many women but it's not something that goes well with my line of work.
