Soccer is a very popular sports. 11 players are needed in each team for this game; one of them would be the goal keeper. The overall game is limited by time, i.e., 90 minutes. The object is to score a goal by sending the spherical ball with a kick or head butt, into the netted area beyond the opposite team’s goal posts. It is a contact sport, wherein collisions can happen. In all, there can be 3 referees in this game, and only 3 substitutions are allowed in a game. In so far as safety is concerned, the players are permitted to use shoes and shin guards. The game is governed by FIFA. Popular tournaments include the World Cup, and the UEFA Champions League.

a. It is a team game, fostering team spirit and the ability to act quickly and cohesively; b. It is governed by a reliable authority, FIFA c. It is played in many European nations and even in South American countries.

a. There is a certain amount of aggression in the game, so chances of injury are rather high; b. There are only three substitutes allowed in each game. c. It requires plenty of stamina and skills.

The Real Football

I can't believe you called it soccer but I understand why you did it lol. It has to be this for me. I follow football very closely, I actually support Chelsea and I have never missed any of their games for the past 4-5 years. I don't care what I need to do, I will always put aside some time to watch the game.
Posted by kingcool52 on 11-18-2017
Then you're a rival! I'm a committed Manchester United fan and has followed the team for some years now right from the ending era of Sir Alex till this day. It's been an awesome experience following football for it has been one of the best decision that I took.

I'm from Europe so this is an easy vote. My country doesn't even play the American Football and I don't know the rules or how it works.

I have played soccer many times and it's amazing! We also have quite a good team from my town that competes with the big guys.

We even go to watch the soccer games when the rivalry teams come and play us. It's extremely exciting being the part of the crowd and cheering.

I have always been watching English football and I am not knowledgeable about American Football. Soccer is fun to watch and I always make sure not to miss any matches being played by my favorite team.
Posted by Pixie on 11-18-2017
I watch the English league and would like to know the team that you support for I'm a Manchester United supporter. I was affected by the American football not played in my country as well. So, I have to go with football.

Being from Europe, I'd go with football, what you call soccer. American football seems fun, however I have never played it seriously, only on some occasions with friends having a little fun. I like both sports to be honest, but I'd go with football, because it's what I've grown up with and I've played the most.

Personally I play soccer very well, sometimes I wonder why I didn't choose football as my career because I'm very good at it. Although I have had some injuries like ankle, foot calf and hamstring but it never stopped me from playing once I'm fully fit.

American football is very appealing but when I look at the physicality and aggressive nature of the game, I get double mind about trying it out.

For me it's way more entertaining and almost every country in the world has a team and know what the game is about. I never had understand the whole thing about the American Footaball, kinda doesn't make sense to me but I know it has a big fan base but is not AS popular as soccer.

Of course SOCCER!

Despite the fact that I've never been able to watch any live soccer match, I've always love soccer. I would definitely love if I'll be able to watch a live soccer game. I find it more interesting to watch soccer compared to watching football. Soccer for me seems to be a very exciting game.

I'm from Italy so of course I'll vote for soccer. It has a lot of fans over here, I just wish they would act less like criminals. Anyway, the sport is huge and full of good teams that will usually receive huge support from fans, American football doesn't even exist here. I think we have a rugby team at most.

Part of me.

I've always enjoyed watching soccer for it has been part of me. Right from the days of the FIFA World Cup in France in 1998 till now, it has been moments of joy, pain, happiness and the emotions of the game. I grew up loving this game of soccer.
Posted by Barida on 11-18-2017
I'm seriously looking forward to Russia 2018 World Cup, it's definitely going to be a competition so spectacular that the entire world will be amazed. With the likes of current world best player Christino Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, David De Gea, Pogba, etc. I cannot see myself missing a single match in the upcoming world Cup in Russia 2018.

Soccer Rocks

I would say definitively that soccer is the most watched sports in the world today because of the millions of people who participate in it one way or another. It's even evident in the amount of money flowing through the sport and I'm sure that one of the footballers today in the person of Christino Ronaldo is the richest athlete today all because of football soccer.

Different countries have its different leagues they play, England with Premier League, Germany with Bundasliga, Spain with La Liga, France with Ligue 1, Italy with Seria A etc. Soccer is my favorite sport.

Football, not soccer!

Football is still the most popular sport in the world. American football is, well, a popular sport in America. it's not even America's favorite pastime. It's easy to like American Football, it's a man's game. Props to their athletes too, it may seem the most violent of all sports but the players are all professionals.

I am a player

I have played this game since I was young. I have played for my primary school, high school, and college. I have so many certificates of participation.

Nowadays I play for my village team. I love watching the game either locally or internationally.

American Football

American Football
American football is quintessentially an American game. It is similar to the European soccer in many ways. For example, there are 11 players in each team. The ball used in this game, however is best described as “prolate spheroid”. Its dimensions would be 28 cms in length and the circumference at its center would be 56 cms. The weight should be around .875 lbs. The aggression in this game, however, is much more evident than it is in European soccer. The way of scoring differs. Like soccer, here too players can score the goal by kicking the ball between the opponent’s field posts, but they also score points for carrying the ball across the touch line of their opponents. The game lasts for 60 minutes, with each half comprised of 2 quarters of 15 minutes each. There are restrictions on the player’s physical requirements. In so far as protection is concerned, the players use a mouthguard, padding on the upper legs, helmets, and chest protectors. There is no limit on the number of substitutions in the game, as long as the total number of players from the team does not exceed 11. Even the number of referees in this game can be almost 6 apart from booth review. Minimum number of referees is however, 3. The game is governed by NFL and playoffs are the matches.

a. The game is a team game, because of which a lot of strategies need to be developed and thinking needs to be coordinated quickly. It fosters team spirit. b. It has a governing body, i.e., NFL c. The protective gear in this game is more elaborate. d. There are more referees and it includes the “booth review” facility. e. It is possible to substitute more players.

a. It is only played in America; b. It is a rather aggressive game, though aggression comes in spurts, and requires quick reflexes. c. Not as popular as football

Prefer football

I prefer American Football. I guess when I hear the sports announcer on TV, it just makes me think of growing up and how my dad would always have football on TV during football season. I could care less is I watch it. Just listening to the announcer's voice and hearing the fans in the back ground is enough for me to bring a smile to my face.

American Football is not really football

American Football is not really football, but I will take "American Football" over soccer or European football anytime.

American Football just seems fun; I would like to go to a game and be a spectator and enjoy the full and 100% American culture.

Soccer is a very boring sport. Hugely popular in Europe, all my friends are basically part of a huligan type team, the rivalry is huge here and very useless, because the game itself isn't very spectacular, sure it involves a lot of skill coming from the players, but that's about it.

American football

I think you like what you grew up with, and for me that was American football, I have nothing against soccer and I enjoy the sport. I just like football more. It is just the sport that I like and enjoy.
Posted by kgord on 11-18-2017

I just love how physical American Football can get and in my opinion that is way more thrilling to watch and way more exciting when a goal is scored!
Posted by Marvadaum on 11-18-2017

American style.

I live in a country where Football is considered as a true religion, but I don't particularly care at all. I prefer (and I find more interesting) American Football because I think it's more challenging and more fun.
Posted by wiseagent on 11-18-2017

Looks more interesting to me

I don't really like either of these all that much but since American football is much more physical and necessitates needing to defend your team in a much more brutal way, I find it a lot more exciting and interesting compared to just kicking a ball around from one end of the field to another. Of course, there is a lot more to dislike about it being physical like head trauma, but just as entertainment, I find it tons more entertaining.

I've been a football (NFL) fan since I was a kid so my choice in this battle is American football. I don't hate soccer - just cannot seem to get excited about watching it though.
Posted by NickJ on 12-12-2017

I can respect the sports of other nations and occasionally I watch "soccer" (Celtic FC). But come on! There's nothing....I repeat NOTHING like the fall time in America. Man, Saturday and Sunday, get a few friends over, some good food and plenty of booze and a good game! Only thing better is being there! People say that more people play and follow soccer than football. I say that's FINE! Because this is a uniquely American sport, that only Americans understand. I'm not saying that this will erase our problems. But with my own eyes I've seen White guys who were hard core known racists, come together with a group of Black fans defending the Browns against Steelers fans!

American Football

I like American Football better since I think Soccer is a bit boring because there's no tackles allowed. American Football is a very exciting sport which always keeps me at the edge of my seat. Also Football players are bigger, stronger and more muscular than soccer players.

Football (American)

Sure, American football is fairly limited to the United States (and Canada to an extent), but I find it to be much more exciting than soccer. Soccer involves a lot of jogging, it involves a limited amount of scoring, and the worst... ties. When you watch a game you, nothing beats the extreme of the high when your team wins or even the low when your team loses a close game. It's a much more action packed sport, with big hits and exciting plays. Soccer only has a few exciting moments a game (being shots/goals).

I live in Brazil and it is considered the country of football here. The main sport here is football. American football is practically rare. So I guess this already answers my choice. Football is my preference.

I know that football or soccer is very popular in Latin American countries because they have many good players. It is also popular in Europe. In Asia it is not very popular but there are football leagues that our national football team participates in. With American football that we call rugby I don’t think there are players here because primarily we don’t know the mechanics of the game and we don’t watch it.

Well, I enjoy both. Personally, I'm an American that has also lived abroad. Specifically, in countries where soccer is highly favored. Because of that, I became interested in the sport, altogether! I'd say I watch them both equally when they're in season.

Canadian football or American football. I love the sport. I am noy much of a soccer fan. I could never really get into tje sport. Football is such a fun sport. I enjoy a great it a great deal. The super bowl is something that I look forward to every year.

I love soccer,I'm really a soccer fan.can remember those days in high school that I was more of a tomboy because of sports like soccer and others. I never joked with the game of soccer. I can remember vividly winning cash prizes and gold medals for my house. it really an interesting games to say the least.
Posted by lovely on 11-18-2017
If it were a personal choice, then I would choose neither. I've simply never been a fan of sports and I don't think I ever will be. Now if I absolutely had to choose between one of those two, I would probably go with soccer. To be completely honest, I have never understood the appeal behind American football. Every Super Bowl my friends would invite me to their parties, and while the social aspect behind it was fun, the actual sport bored me to death. I find nothing exciting about it. At least soccer constantly has something going on and really has you glued to the events.
Posted by Denis_P on 11-19-2017
I just think the exact opposite! I come from Brazil and soccer is everywhere around here. I should really prefer it over American Footbal but I have seen it my whole life I am definitely tired!
Posted by Marvadaum on 11-21-2017
Soccer is the real deal of all sports because it is easier to understand the rules and play it in a simple way than that of American soccer.

One thing to note is that the score in soccer, like hockey, is often very low, and there seems to be a lot of time in-between scoring. However, with American football the score is generally higher than soccer, but lower than basketball with it's 99 to 101 type scoring. Anyway, though, I enjoy all these sports, but just pointing out some differences - which in the realm of watching it, as opposed to playing it, seem to be a big deal. Is it to you?
Posted by jyy on 11-22-2017
I love soccer, however, we call it football. I have watched American football on TV, however, I did not like the game. I have been watching soccer since I was 10 years old. I have been watching FIFA world Cup since 1994. I also love Euro Cup.
Posted by vinaya on 11-24-2017
Soccer is commonly called football here which is not very popular but not rare. In fact, our country has a national team that plays in international competitions. The name of the team is Azkals which means a stray dog. I have been seeing American football on cable tv but to be honest, I couldn’t understand the mechanics of the game. And all I can hear is the word tackle. But in fairness, their uniform is cute especially with the padded shoulder that gives them a muscled look.

American football is only interesting to people who loves and enjoys physical and violent football. I do love such games sometimes because it's very thrilling with the kind of actions that goes on in the playing process although injuries are a major concern when it comes American football.
Posted by Martinsx on 04-16-2018
I don't really find either interesting! I prefer tennis! American football is really only popular in the US, though - whereas soccer seems to have a following in just about every country on the planet - so that might win out overall for me.
