I buy them through laziness

I know hand made cards look better but I really don't have time to mess around with them and the chances are I've probably forgotten to get one so I reach for the card collection in the drawer that I use for last minute or belated birthdays.

The only cards I have ever made are those when my granddaughter was little that she would make for special people in her life, so I would help her, but even she's got bored with doing those.

Any card thee days is a bonus

Although I like handmade cards, the fact is many people are not using them and are sending virtual or e-cards these days. The cost of postage is a factor and even in real life many people just put them up for a few days and then recycle them.

I do actually keep mine, but I do think most people throw them away and it's shame if it's handmade after all the effort put in, that's why I opt for a store bought one which most would have less guilt about throwing out.

Convenient!

It's very convenient, I just buy them and write things in them. I'm not a creative person, and I don't think I can create a greeting card on my own. If I'm given a store bought greeting card or a handmade one, I think I'll appreciate the handmade one more, but I'm sure that I'll appreciate them both. It's the thought that counts.

I don't have a creative bone in my body

The only reason I voted for shop bought is because I wouldn't know where to start with making my own because I'm far from being creative. I also just don't have the time to make my own. I find it more convenient to just nip into a store and pick one out, although it can be a struggle because I'm not always happy with what's on the market. I like the sentiment behind homemade ones, though.

more beautiful

I used to like to give out and receive hand made cards and items but at this point I just prefer something more beautiful and well crafted. I like the fact that store bought prints have a cleaner look and you can personalize them too anyway by writing you genuine words in them. On some occasions or from specific people I think a hand made card would be great or even better but for the most part I prefer a store bought card instead.

Good.

I enjoy getting this sort of cards for my family for we don't always miss a bit when we talk of spending time with others to celebrate good times such as the Christmas celebration. I have come to notice that it is faster and cheaper when you spend to get them instead of deciding to use the home-made.

Love anything handmade

I love anything handmade. I know that sometimes people are like yeah they made handmade stuff as it is cheaper. While this is sometimes the case, it is not always. I just feel that homemade things are from the heart and can really be personalized. It just says to me that the person giving it really and truly cares.

Handmade is lovely!

I prefer handmade greeting cards, as handmade products are always lovely especially when the givers made it themselves.

I started to make my own cards and gifts since I learned how to make them. It's also a fun and relaxing process of creating them, especially when you think about the person you are sending the card or gift to.

Handmade is nice

If they are actually reusing materials, that's an added bonus. I find that it isn't always the case though. Many people spend a lot of money on supplies and tools to make handmade cards.

Handmade cards and gifts feel more special (well, as long as they are nice). I mean, crossing out the name on an old card, adding a ribbon, and passing it along is not the same thing, ha ha. I've seen that done too.

They're amazing!

I love receiving any sort of cards but my favorite is definitely the handmade kind.

I will admit that I don't really make my cards and simply buy them at the shop but I do try to buy the ones that are for charities.

Handmade cards show how much time and effort was put into it. It shows that there is some kind of thought behind it and that makes you feel very special.

I always put the handmade cards on a special and visible spot so all my friends can see them.

More creative and thoughtful!

I used to like store-bought greeting cards. But then the overall quality and creativity of them went down, in my opinion. Eventually, my family and I started making our own greeting cards for ourselves and others. It's more thoughtful and you can add your own touch to it. Instead of just buying a ready made card and signing your name on it.

In fact, nowadays we make scrolls for each other. It's cool because we've created like a new family signature for greeting cards.

Handmade

Handmade, customized cards are the best kind of cards to receive! Nowadays, I find that store bought cards are so expensive (sometimes as expensive as a small gift) and I would not want someone to spend so much money on a card for me. All that matters is the message on the inside anyways and it makes me happy if someone put in the effort to make a card that is special to me.

The right one

I find the handmade greeting cards more interesting precisely because they are made with more care, with more attention and because they have reclicable compounds. This is a very nice and useful idea... It's different and beautiful at the same time. :)

Handmade.

Anything handmade, be it gifts or cards is always better in my opinion. Store bought gift cards are easy to obtain and require little commitment. I'd say they are good for an acquaintance or someone you don't know very well. However, if there is someone close to you and you want to show them that you genuinely care, putting the time and effort into a handmade card is definitely the way to go. Even if it doesn't look that great, the fact that you cared enough to make something original sends a message all on its own.

Handmade all the way!

In addition to store bought cards, I always make my loved ones an extra homemade card. :)

Homemade cards are more sentimental and thoughtful from the heart.

Handmade ~ I'm Cheap!

Have you seen the price of greetings cards these days? I think they are ridiculously expensive. I can't stop my children from buying the cards for special days like Mother's Day and my birthday. But I wish they wouldn't!! I appreciate their appreciation of me. But I would really prefer a handmade card or no card at all. I'm cheap! LOL.

Handmade

People spending their hard earned money to make the cards from scratch. That's something we need to understand and cherish. It can be harder to see how the handmade cards are not in circulation. You can see that in such case such cards need to be properly used as well.

Handmade

I love the handmade things because people put their real effort on making something for give it to another, I appreciate a lot when someone do anything like that for me, it's more special and has more value and meaning for me. I know that we all love everything that looks beautiful, but sometimes the beautiful is not the appearance.

Hand-made Cards Are Better

When someone takes the time and effort to actually make you a card, that says a lot about that person and a lot about how much they appreciate you as well. This is such a much more intimate act than just hastily grabbing a greeting card at the grocery store. I know most of us in our busy lives don't have time to make such things, and it's the thought that counts, but a handmade card is so much more personal and appreciated.

Handmade is better

Everything that is handmade shows that you are willing to invest your time and effort into the relationship with the person you're making the things for. You can write whatever you want on a handmade card and customize it however you want. It will always be much better than a store bought one.

Handmade Greeting Cards are priceless because they are made directly by the giver. I also find Handmade Greeting cards holds a sentimental value that why I treasure and keep them in my cabinet. Unlike those cards that are bought, for me it don't hold much value.

No readymade gift or card can ever match handmade cards. They have so many emotions hidden in them that they over rule even the most expensive stuff. The love and efforts that are put in are incomparable to any amount of money that is spent in buying a readymade one.

I love making cards for my loved ones. This is a habit I'm proud of and even try to inculcate this in my son as well.

These days I send virtual greeting cards instead of physical. Good thing about sending virtual greeting cards is it takes no time to send and you can customize as your wish. However, when I was in teens I used to send a lot of store bought greeting cards. These days I encourage children to make their own greeting cards. It takes time, but it also shows your creativity as well as save money.

I think both are good, if you are in a hurry or you forgot about an special date you can go to a shope, get a card and problem solve but if you have a good memory and also some free time to make a handmade card then go for it cause those are very cool to do.

It all depends on your circumstances, actually.

The closer you are to the person, the better a handmade greeting card is, because it showcases the importance you give to the other person (a handmade card takes time and effort!). However, if you're only a casual acquaintance then you can't go wrong with store-bought cards; they're respectful, polite and get the job done.

I have been making handmade cards since some years. Long ago it used to take me lots of time but nowadays since I am used to it I can make the handmade cards quite quickly. Many of my relatives and friends have thanked me and really loved the handmade cards. It is very easy to obtain the materials needed to make those cards nowadays and they are quite cheap too. I prefer personalized cards. I can also write my own message. I received some too and I have kept them safely.

@/angie828 I agree with you that the person who made the handmade card shows how much she/he cares and special. This is true. Although it may looked cheap, but it is unique, the one and only.

@kaka135 Yup, I also handmade greeting cards for my family members. They are happy to receive them. However, I am shy to send them to my friends. It is relaxing and enjoying to make them. I love taking photos of my creations too.

I personally feel indifferent about this situations, but will note that unless this is explicitly a hobby/you otherwise specifically enjoy making handmade cards, I think that a store-bought greeting card would be sufficient for most people. It's perfectly fine to go above and beyond for someone truly important but I don't think I can see myself making cards for almost every occasion.

...though with all that in mind, I don't really care too much about recieving cards myself, but this is probably because of my personal background. I'd rather not have too much extraneous fluff when it comes to gifts or stuff in general.

Is there still a hand-made greeting card? In the olden times, I remember making the hand-made Christmas cards that I give to my parents and other relatives including my classmates, of course. It’s not really because of the lack of money for purchasing greeting cards but it’s more for the fun of it. Looking back, it seems that those hand-made greeting cards are more precious than the ones bought from the bookstore because the hand-made were works of art that needed passion and patience.

I am a big fan of handicrafts and handicrafts. So, I value a lot more a handmade card than an industrialized card and sold in stores. I think the fact that a card has been made by hand can make it look better and more special. In addition, there is a personality stamped on this type of work and this is not found on cards bought in stores. Anyway, I definitely prefer handmade cards.

If there is people who will give a greeting cards I will appreciated more when it is a handmade greeting card than a store bought greeting card because in handmade greeting card, the one who made that made some effort to make you appreciate. :)

I think we have different needs. I prefer handmade. But the thing is some people have no time. And they are going to make use of the handmade cards. And they are in need of such type of the cards for their own reasons. And in such cases it can be reasonably said that it can be issue worth thinking about. And though it works out for most part. I don't think cards handmade can be weighed.

I would bu handmade cards. Lol. This is because I think that they give more of a personal touch then the store bought ones. I think as a person I appreciate more those cards that have been made by hand, especially from my children and nieces and nephews. If you think about it the world has now come full circle. Long time ago we used to love hand made cards, then store cards took over. Now we are back to hand made cards
