There is a reason why these exist and it's because they work. I know it's probably better to just drink water but there might be situations where this can be more effective. If it were me I wouldn't drink it all the time when I work out but from time to time I do think having this option around and available can be useful.

This is achieved by sweating, the body regain its normal temperature by evaporation of sweat, which in turn has a cooling effect on the body.

Research shows that water should be taken adequately before exercises, as this will help in restoring fluid balance during the exercise. It is advised to take water at intervals while exercising the body, this ensures the water level within the body is maintained.

Science has proved that water is an integral part of the body, about 75% of body mass is made up of fluid, this has a striking significance, proper maintenance of this balance, lead's to good health. People who maintain a healthy lifestyle, take water regularly, to ensure proper cell and nerve balance.

Taking water after exercises is vital, as it gives a sense of satisfaction, and water loss during the exercise, is replaced. Their are certain signs that indicate need for water, the prominent among them is thirst, the body uses it's sensory mechanisms, to inform the body of a need to reestablish it's fluid balance. I always drink plenty of water when I am exercising because it is important to stay hydrated. When we exercise we sweat more than usual so it is crucial to get enough fluids back into our body. There isn't anything better or healthier than water. It is free of charge as well since we have amazing tap water.

I don't understand why people would drink energy drinks and water has everything a body needs to stay healthy and assist in burning the excess calories during the exercises.

Water for sure

If you want to workout never drink energy drinks.They will make you fatter if you drink them every day and it might give you a little bit of energy while working out but I won't use that. Water is just clean and gives your body energy as well.

Cold water burns more calories while these energy drinks replace the same calories that we had burnt exercising. I wish the ones taking energy drinks while working out can understand the importance of having water.

The benefits are immense.

I know that for some, taking energy drinks do it for them since the taste alone is tempting while you want to work out. I feel the immense benefits of taking water while exercising outweighs whatever side effects that may come from it such as excessive urination.

One major factor we have to consider as well is that water is natural and healthy, if one gets a clean one, while the contents of some of these energy drinks may have long term negative effects on the body. I mean effects that might not show now when the person is young, so for me, I think taking water during work outs does it for me.

Water is essential for life and for healthy living which is why we can take much of it every day.

Maintaining Hydration in All Phases of Life

Did you know the first life form in this planet appeared in water? Just imagine our planet without water. We are so lucky that water is naturally available and we don't have to spend money unlike if we buy energy drinks and artificial beverages. I drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day to keep my body hydrated but I tend to have more during summer. Living in a tropical country, it is important that I keep my self hydrated whether during exercise or when just doing regular tasks. I am not fond of energy drinks because of it's sugar content. And besides why should I spend money for energy drinks if I have free access to clean drinking water.

It's still good to take in natural fluids without any chemicals.By taking water, it naturally make our body hydrated and satisfies our thirst,even if it might make us more heavy and excessive intakes will cause frequent urination it's still a good thing as it will wash away the toxins in our body.Its also a big help to those person who suffers Urinary tract infection.

mostly water

While I do admit to downing a red-bull once or twice before a workout when I was feeling especially sluggish, I do just generally drink water when I workout. I have heard that it can be very dangerous to combine energy drinks with exercise. I think it has the potential to cause heart problems. Energy drinks are great in a pinch, but the body was made to need water and thrives when you are fully hydrated.

Again, this is one of those it depends on situations. Water will always be the better choice because it is a lot healthier especially you are probably exercising to become a better and healthier person. I personally drink energy drinks from time to time but not always because of how much sugar they have. If you are in desperate need of some energy then I would recommend you to drink energy drinks.

A Healthy Habit

I made the switch to drinking almost entirely water about 6 months ago. I don't mind sports drinks occasionally either, but water is the way to go for me. It's refreshing and overall better for me while I'm working out, I feel.

It is important to drink water while exercising to keep you from getting dehydrated. You should drink your required daily intake of water each day and more if you are exercising. Water fuels the body. I drink a lot of water. It flushes out your body. I have never drank an energy drink and feel no need for it.

Hydration is key during workouts

As we exercise our bodies, we begin losing water faster than we can take in. Because of that, staying hydrated with water is essential in the midst of exercising. In the past, I've tried energy drinks before and during my workout. All of which have failed me in increasing my overall energy output. All I was left with in the end was a feeling of intense dehydration. Nowadays, however, I carry a water bottle (filled with water) around with me in the gym as I exercise.

Drinking Water

I think drinking energy drinks while exercising is counter-productive. When you're exercising you are trying to use the energy that your body is reserving (fat) not give your body something else to burn through (glucose). Water helps stay hydrated so you don't sweat out all of your liquids and become further exhausted. I say yay to water and nay to "energy" drinks.

Water is all I need

In my opinion, water is enough to keep me hydrated and I don't work out so hard that I need to replenish electrolytes or sugars or anything with energy drinks. I make sure I am well nourished before I start any workout so that I have enough energy. I think it's best to avoid energy drinks because they contain a lot of additives and sugar and taste quite artificial.

Water is Life!

I always drink just plain water when I am exercising. So far, t always energizes me whenever I am feeling so tored already. But of course, after drinking water one must have at least 5 minutes rest so the body can cope up with the continuation of the exercise. Drinking water coold down my body already sofilled with perspiration. Plain water is the best drink for me. Because those energy drinks. have artificial enerygy. boosting elements.

Natural water

I would rather drink mineral water from the bottle or bring boiled cool water from home. No way would I drink energy drinks. I had read the pros and cons of these drinks. It is best to stay away from them because they are alike carbonated drinks that refresh your body and energy but there are side effects such as temperamental, anxiety and irregular heart beat.

I think it helps to hydrate yourself all the time. And this way you don't end up having issues for the body. And you retain the energy. And that;s a good sign as well. I think on that note you can see that exercise and water is a good combination. i'd surely choose that for most of the time. i think it's better that way.

Energy drinks are not for me

I am not really a fan of energy drinks. Moreover, it is more healthier to drink water as it contains zero calories. As for energy drinks they contain sugars, flavorings, additives and preservatives which are really bad for health. We normally exercise either to lose weight or to keep fit and if we take energy drinks then it is worthless.

I was drinking a lot of energy drinks in the past until my heart started to make my problems. Now I know is better for us to drink a lot of water the whole day long not only when we exercise or not. Drinking at least 2 liters of water a day it makes our body healthier and full of energy!

Natural, healthy and free

As there is no reliable proof to say that sports drinks work any better than water at keeping you hydrated - but water has for centuries been shown to the best way of keeping hydrated and is the generally recommended means of re-hydrating during and after exercise too - water will always be my preference - as unlike commercially produced energy/sports drinks - I know for sure that it is beneficial to my health.

In fact - if you were to broach this question to a qualified trainer or professional fitness coach - they too would say water and advise you to stay well away from sports drinks.

Particularly as - not only are they extremely unhealthy - as they are all loaded with high levels of caffeine based products, artificial sweeteners, sodium, chemical flavor enhancers and additives - and are nothing more - than a product whose marketing hype has been cleverly designed to lift hard earned cash out of consumers pockets - but more importantly - there is a very distinct lack of scientific evidence to substantiate any of the wild claims related to any of the sports/energy drinks currently on the market.

Just Give Me Water

When it comes to this choice, just give me good old fashioned purified water every time. I am never quite sure what goes into all of these so-called energy drinks, and a lot of them are full of sodium. When you compare the cons of these two liquid choices, I would rather have to urinate more often than to get diabetes, of course. Your body needs lots of water everyday regardless of whether or not you are frequently exercising, and even more water is needed to keep you from dehydrating when you are exerting yourself!

Natural hydration

Energy drinks can help boost a person's energy while doing workouts but water also does the same by helping the person stay hydrated. I am sure that drinks other than water do not provide hydration as much as water does, as they also contain different contents in them. There are even cases wherein drinks can damage a person's kidney or damage a person's stomach because of acidity. It should only be water especially for people working out.

Water is better, healthier -it doesn't contain all that sodium, sugar and colorants to make it look pretty such as the energy drinks- and way cheaper, you can just fill the bottle at home and take it with you, energy drinks can be really expensive and they are not worth it. If you want to drink something diferent you can just flavor the water with some lemon, mint or strawberrys.

Water for me

I still prefer water. It is the best drink to quench your thirst and regulate your temperature after the workout . It is the best natural drink to help your digestion and remove body toxins. I don't like drinking energy drink. I don't like its taste. And i think it has a bad effect on me cause there's a time that i tried to drink one but instead of being energize i suddenly feel weak and i'm palpitating. So i'll never try drinking those again.

Keep it simple

I would support water on this one. As for drinking, energy drinks are always dangerous for health. Furthermore, drinking these drinks while exercising increases the like even more. While drinking water is good in between weight training but one should inhibit it while doing cardio.

A lot of energy drinks are filled with stuff that can counter the development of your body. The least thing is that they have sugar, I mean it's not like they are gonna hurt you or really stop you that much, however it's way better to just drink water and it's not like it's going to cost you anything. Energy Drinks aren't that bad an hour before work out though, depending on what kind of night/day you've had previously, sometimes you might need the energy.

Fresh water

Water is the best thing that you could ever drink while doing working out. It doesn't have any risk on health as these other drinks at some point can cause some health issues. Whenever I work out I have never felt the need to drink something else than water and I think people should only drink this while exercising.

Water can replenish the body from dehydration

Water is a good intake in the body especially when exercising. While we sweat, the body releases enough fluid, this fluids are said to come in pores in the skin and also said that it's a toxic inside our body and is needed to take out for disposal. The body needed to be hydrated in order to function again, cause water brings enough oxygen that supply our body. Drinking water after excessive exercise can replenish our body from water that are release while doing workout. Also it is much healthier that energy drinks because water are pure and does not contain chemicals, it is natural in replenishing our body.

Energy drinks aren't that effective but has the tendency to damage your organs (your heart especially). I had a friend who nearly died because of her excessive intake of energy drinks, that fool. She was lucky because her mom saw her crippling on the floor after exercising, the doctor says it was because of her drinking a lot of of that specific drink. After that incident, we, her friends, couldn't buy another bottle of that substance lol maybe because of trauma.

Energy drinks are dangerous

I would say drinking water is better. Energy drinks as we all know have negative effects on your body while water is beneficial to our body. Energy drinks have so much sugar content because this ingredient gives your body energy. On the downside, it gives the risk of having diabetes. It can give you palpitations and high blood pressure.I think it's better to just drink Gatorade than Monster, Cobra, Sting or any other energy drink. Or better, just drink water. Eat food that will boost your energy because doing exercise so you won't have a need for energy drinks.

Water Everyday

Depends on the exercise in fact. Water is the best hydration method to most exercises but still, some of the more strenuous exercises require something to replenish the minerals lost in the sweat. But we're talking about prolonged aerobic intense exercise. To all others, water is just perfect.

I don't take energy drinks especially when I do a workout, water is still the best for me although sometimes I am tempted to drink soda which is very refreshing when the weather is hot. The physician in our family always reminds us that energy drinks may cause problems with the kidney or liver. It is not proven yet that it is effective and clean because it's a new thing. There are cases of suspected kidney failure due to drinking energy drink. Anyway, just to be on the safe side, it is water that we should drink most often and not sugared or colored drink. One alternative to water is coconut water.

I prefer to drink a lot of water, because there's no guarantee that , the energy drink would sustain such in label content. Drinking much often of energy drink, sometimes not good at all. In my opinion, drinking energy drinks would not be good at health, especially, if don't get more sweat through by means of exercise. I often drink more water, i could even tell the result in my body, unlike before I feel more exhausted. I taking water therapy, as natural therapy, it also a cheap way to do it.

Before my morning jog, I drink a glass of water and take more during or after the workout. When I miss to take it after the jog my body gets really burnt out. I would advocate for more water than energy drinks when working out than energy drinks.

I think water does give energy as well because I sometimes really get weak after exercising and my instructor says I can take water to help boost my energy level and sincerely after taking water I have good amount of energy to continue. So energy drink though is good is just a way of the company making money but water is a natural energy booster and it can readily boost energy

I never tried energy drinks and strongly believe that will never have them.It is a junk synthetic drink which upsets an overall health. Water is my everything. During workout whenever I feel thirsty I make a deep relaxing breath, then have few sips of water and it`s pretty enough to reboot my energy and it gives me also a nice push for proceeding my exercises.

If you feel thirsty, then drink water anytime you want. Water is body's prime need so fulfilling it is a must. But water should always be taken in sips and not gulps. This stays true for water intake during, before & after exercise. On an average, a healthy individual must take 3 lt (=10-12 glasses) of water per day. In case the water loss by means of exercise or any other therapeutic condition increases, the water intake should also increase parallelly.

I think water is always best when you are really thirsty but if you need energy you may want to pair it with energy bars that will give you quick energy. This is just one of the best things you can put in your body when you are running. The carbs from the energy bars and water help. Also, the above post is wrong when they say excessive intake of water is not bad, some people have died from too much water in their system. It messes up the electrolytes in your system.

Drinking water while exercising is the best. I don't see why you should be taking energy drinks while working out or exercising. Its like not being yourself while working out because it gives an extra strength to perform better. Its better you work out in a manner that it is all you and nothing more added to you. I think water during exercise is different for each one of us. And we have to learn how to do things in that context. You can see that keeping body hydrated is necessary for the same reason. I guess we learn from the experience.

If about 60% of our body is made of water and in the muscles that percentage rises to 75%, imagine the importance of the liquid in our lives ... and in training!

Also remembering that water is in all the chemical reactions that the human body performs, in addition to forming the cellular structure, regulate body temperature and help transport nutrients and oxygen through the red blood cells.

I think much better to drink water and I will choose that. Honestly, I'm still don't believe in some energy drinks, I used to drink redbull before while playing sports like basketball and actually nothing happens, the result on my cardio and stamina was still the same, I just spent more money for that. Drinking water and energy drinks for me has no difference.

I think taking energy drinks are really not healthy and regular use of it are proven to be unhealthy for both the liver and kidney. I think energy drinks should only be taken during emergency situations and that exercising doesn't fall in that category. So I would choose water or lemon infused water to drink when exercising.

I don't drink energy drinks because there's a lot of studies saying that it has detrimental effects to the kidneys and liver. It's better to drink mineral water to be always hydrated and to quench the thirst.

I have also some reservations on energy drinks because it is not time-tested yet. We don’t know if it can cause serious health problems in the future. Anything you drink is suspect when you develop kidney stones and anything you eat is suspect when you have liver problems. That is the reason why it is wise to avoid ingesting new products that have not passed the test of time.

I choose water while exercising the body. Its so easy to do. You don't have to buy energy in the grocery store. You just bring water to where you are exercising. There is no hassle with water.

Water costs less than the energy drinks. I'm not really sure if energy drinks really helps regain more energy when you drink it but I used to drink it when I have extra money for it. Maybe these two is relevant when you are exercising because you lose energy and a lot of body fluids.

I am not really a fan of energy drinks while exercising. Besides, water is healthier and less sugar than energy drinks. I replenish my body water while exercising because our body is composed of 70& water, let's be sure that we are dehydrated while exercising. In addition, it is much cheaper than energy drinks and healthier than any other beverages.
