Taxes should be decreased

Taxes should be decreased
Taxes are considered as the lifeblood of the government. Without taxes, the government will cease to exist because it would have no funds to use to defray its expenses. But the power to tax also comes with the power to destroy. They can cripple a business and even kill its operations by charging taxes and interest and the that would exhaust all the properties of an entity. Taxation is very powerful and is subject to a lot of abuses. Therefore I believe that the tax rates should be lowered. The politicians are the ones making lots of money from the taxes collected from the citizens. They get high salary, bonuses and allowances. They all get that from the money of the people. It's the people who ultimately suffer from the high tax rates. The government should lower the taxes and they should lower them now.

Agree

Yes - but....

Taxes should be decreased, but only if government spending is decreased. For instance, that was the problem with Reagan, president of the US back in the 80s. He increased military spending but kept cutting taxes, and of course, also government programs not related to defense. In that case, the deficit became insane. certain barriers on banking.

Less Tax more distributed work

I think we need balance of capitalism and socialism. The reason socialism fails is because innovation stops. Because innovation requires incentive bigger than the socialism. And that's where many people don't respect the capitalism. And they also can't find the solution with the socialism either. So we have to find that part and reduce the taxes too.

I agree!

I don't think that there will be anyone who will believe something else, I totally agree that taxes should be decreased, this would make our life happier and wealthier. Here almost 30% from our salary means taxes that we give to our government. In my opinion taxes are the worst think it can happen to us!

Definitely!

Over here we face the highest taxes in the world and absolutely zero return for the people! Taxes should be cut by half and still there would be enough money to make the country decent!

1000% YES!

Here in Brazil the issues that are related to taxes are absurdly high. It's something totally unfair (mainly with the great part of the poor population of the country), but unfortunately it's one of the ways that the government chose to be able to steal (legitimately) the people in a fast and simple way.

I'm Brazilian too and I agree with you! In addition to being one of the most taxing countries in the world, we have a high rate of corruption. So, besides paying high taxes, all that money is stolen by the politicians who are currently in power. Honestly, I do not know when that will change around here.

Yes 200 percent in Support

The question that I normally ask is what has actually been done with all the already collected tax fund? I think it's practically nothing and more taxes are still being collected.

As a result of this, I'm personally of the opinion that the government see that taxes should be decreased. There is no need making life more difficult for the masses by making them pay more tax when they aren't getting much service and satisfaction from paying such taxes.

Low taxes means reduced crimes

I agree that taxes should be reduced. High taxes has lead people into committing crimes like tax evasion, land grabbing, robbery and corruption. With less tax, everyone will be able to enjoy their hard earned money and not focus into committing crimes because of the pain they are feeling. Everyone will be happy because of the fair treatment they get.

For the Ultra Rich and Companies No

For the past 40 years the US has kept cutting taxes for the ultra wealthy and the mega corporations...and it does nothing. They keep blaming the so called high taxes for companies keeping money offshore. Newsflash it doesn't matter how much you cut the corporate or ultra rich's taxes- they're still gonna keep that money offshore until legislation is passed to make it totally illegal and subject to various multiple felonies and treason against the US. All the tax burdens keep falling onto the diminishing middle class. I pay almost a third of my check in taxes for nothing. I don't get any benefit out of it, the State's infrastructure is a joke right now and as to the Federal, well by the time I hit retirement age Social Security will have completely collapsed. Meanwhile the companies keep growing, creating monopolies and still keeping their cash offshore and the rich just keep growing. The middle class is no longer middle class, we're paying 60% of all the funding for the roads, the schools, and social services. It's gotten to the point where we're nothing more than the working poor and the majority don't realize it.

It still depends!

If the country needs a lot of improvements, It's not advisable to decrease the tax as the government needs to fund all of those projects. As long as there are no corrupt officials, I'm okay to pay the taxes since it's for our own good and for the future of our own kids.

Taxes may be decreased as thought, but we must equally understand that the government has a lot of developmental projects to work on in the public interest. The token amount being collected from the people is what we refer to as tax and must be paid as at when due to the government. There are a lot of social amenities being provided by the government which give unlimited social benefits to the citizens and residents such as good roads, electricity, hospitals, health centers and water. So, decreasing the rates of taxes may not help the government in any way.

This really depends on where exactly we are talking about. In European countries, I definitely agree that taxes should be lowered because the percentage is usually something ridiculous like 40%+ for the general public. Places where the tax percentage is something like 30 - 40% is kind of reasonable since in some places (I am talking about the US) you reap some benefits of being a US citizen while abroad but not so much in the country. Now what exactly gives the government the right to take 30 percent of the hard earned money you make is another subject that I probably don't agree on but I accept it willingly.

To be honest, I pretty much agree with AlexHarris. This is a topic that depends solely on your country. As well as what type of position you're in (employee, small business, corporation). The thing is taxes work when they're applied properly in the community. Corruption and greed, mixed with a strained economy turn taxes into a nightmare. So I guess what I'm saying is, fair deductions from income are needed to sustain a city. But shouldn't be outrageously high. Another factor that needs to be considered is if your country mainly imports or exports. As that will play a major part on the general tax of goods in stores.

I really do think that we are way overtaxed especially in our country. There are even products and serves that we are paying tax on top of tax and that just isn't fair. I think all it does it line the pockets of those who are in power. They get the big pay checks and huge pensions while the rest of us are barely getting by working full time. It just doesn't seem fair. I am all for paying taxes but there comes to a point when we are being made to pay too much and we are suffering at our end while they life high.

Of course I would like taxes to decrease. No one is in favor of paying more taxes. I think this is simply the way of the world. Many people would like to get out of paying taxes but unless you are Donald Trump or some other bigtime entrepreneur you are not likely to get out of paying your taxes. They do support government programs but how many of these do we really agree with?

Hell yeah! I live in the Philippines and over 10-12% of our income go to taxes. It is a lot of money especially for a working class man like me. I honestly wouldn't mind paying my tax as I know that taxes are essential for a country's development. What annoys and triggers me the most are the news about corruption. Most government officials in my country have wealth that does not match an officials monthly income. Almost everyday, there are news about different officials being involved in graft and corruption. It is like the people are paying their taxes so the crocodiles in the government can live luxuriously.

I think we have very narrow view about the taxes. And we have to get some reforms in order. As you can see there are always the things that changes the way people are being taxed. You have to understand that some people who are into capitalism wants to have order where they are in benefit. And some of the people who are at disadvantage expect things in their favor. So they want less taxes. But that does not happen in real life.

I think this makes a good point, the government needs to help the citizens that voted them in power plus other citizens of the country to help in reducing the amount of charges they are collecting on tax. If they charge high tax rate, at the end it is the ordinary citizen that suffers it.

I am in favor of tax reduction as well as any citizen. But I'm even more in favor of using taxes properly. Here in my country, for example, there is a lot of political corruption. So I honestly would not care to pay taxes, as long as there was adequate return from them.

i wonder if there is a way to get rid of it at all, something is just not right about it, since people hate for hundred of years. We all know now that government don't know what to do with tax money anyway.

It is of great importance that we understand the need for the payment or taxes in many communities that we live in. When you take a look at how government is run, you will agree with me that paying taxes should be a necessity.

On the part of whether taxes should be decreased, it simply depends on the economic targets of the government as it concerns the development of the state.

I agree, because people suffer when paying high taxes while having low income. Politicians are the one who benefited from our taxes that were being deducted in our salary. The best solution is lower taxes but higher income for people to enjoy working.

In our home country, you are exempted from tax if your earning is less than x amount. A married man is also exempted from tax if he earns less than y amount if the family has children it will be exempted from tax if the earning is less than z amount. generally speaking, you will be paying tax based on your income. The businesses have to pay 13 percent VAT. I think this is a decent tax rate.

My country is currently on the verge of a radical change in taxation as a tax reform package is currently being deliberated by the lawmaking bodies. The tax reform law is being promoted by the government as a relief for lower income employees who will no longer be taxed on their salaries if they meet a certain level of income. It's a big joke because the truth is, the implementation of the tax package will raise the prices of major commodities including fuel and electricity because of the proposed increases in the coverage of excise tax. It will also prevent many low and middle income employees from buying their own homes as the tax package also proposes to scrap the VAT exemption on low cost housing. Inflation has largely become uncontrolled ever since the new administration took over resulting in higher prices for all basic commodities. The 'weakening' of the currency versus the dollar further raised the cost of imported goods like fuel and spare parts. People wanted change but not towards this direction. We are bracing for tough times ahead because we have a president who is at the mercy of his economic advisers. I would agree to keep the status quo when it comes to taxes as the taxes are already high but the current administration wants more from its citizens. I hate to see my taxes going to salary increases for policemen as a reward for killing off my countrymen in the name of a drug war.

It depends on the country so if it really is helping the people of that country and making their quality of life better then I believe that the taxes should stay the way they are and I doubt that the citizens would disagree since I would assume they will be satisfied with the performance of the government and they will be able to see where their money is going to. However, there are some countries where the government is corrupt and high taxes don't really change much as most of it is just getting pocketed by the politicians so in those countries I think lower taxes would be better.

Income taxes should be cut because the overall tax burden is quite high right now. In Pakistan, we generally cry a lot on taxes even though not all the people do pay it. The people who are hit the most by the tax increase are the Public servants. Businessmen generally try to evade taxes. But still, the taxes do increase every year. I mean the taxes are increased on daily use items like milk and eggs. Like mobile top up. Just for an example in Pakistan if you buy a mobile balance of 100 then 25 is cut off as a tax. Huge isn't it.

I'm with you on this, like my country the tax rate is so high and workers are paying but the country is in shambles. Nothing is really working every thing has come to a standstill no good roads, no good pipe borne water,no electricity, health care is zero, free school without the needed infrastructures needed to make learning comfortable enough for the children but in all these high taxes is paid by the citizens so sure, if nothing is working then why do we even pay tax let alone high tax it should be reduced

As someone above also noted, the rich don't pay their fair share of taxes because they leave. Well, that's an argument why high taxes on the rich mean nothing - unless, of course, there is nowhere for them to hide. But it doesn't seem like that will ever be the case, cause anyway, because various nations won't keep the same rates on taxation, holding money etc..

I am in complete agreement. No one likes to pay tax. Especially when you know you work hard to get your money, yet people are misusing it. If you look at government workers, they are living the life while the citizens are struggling to make money. If my taxes were put to good use like providing excellent health care and better services, I wouldn't mind. Instead, I can see civil servants getting fat and building mansions. Look at all the tax havens. The rich don't pay taxes. So why should we pay any tax? Does this even make sense? I think citizens should refuse to pay tax unless all these issues are dealt with.
