The A-Team

The A-Team
The A-Team TV show ran from 1983–1987 and was one of the most popular TV shows in that era for most people in the western world including America and the Britain too way back in the early to late 80's.

You may remember that classic speech that was said at the start of every show that said the following;

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team.

And of course, not forgetting Hannibal's classic line of "I Love it When a Plan Comes Together!"

And then the opening credits would roll showing you them in action somehow or breaking out of a building in some huge contraption or machine that they built while they was locked inside with for some reason.

The story of the A-Team is basically what's said in the note at the start, that they are a team of special force soldiers that had been wrongly accused of a war crime and then break out of prison to go on the run.

They are forever chased by the military police while always helping some little guy out at the same time while escaping from the MP's every time and leaving a trail of explosions and bodies in their wake..

The A-Team is made up of four characters that are Hannibal the leader, Faceman the smooth one, B.A. the big one and Murdock, the crazy one! Although he will always say he's not crazy much to the distaste of B.A!

With hundreds of episodes, all of which promising action, guns, fighting, explosions and destruction. And the little guy getting help with the corrupted officials and gangsters that are trying to take advantage.

The A-Team was a family classic for about 4 years and considering it was such a favorite and so well hyped it's surprising to not see it continuing on for longer given how long some shows in that time lasted for.

In 2010, they made the A-Team movie which is really good movie featuring Liam and Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton Jackson which all play their parts superbly and it completes the A-Team saga.

By the way, if you loved the A-Team as much as I did. You had the The A-Team lunch box and back pack and collected the The A-Team stickers too.

Pros
  • The A-Team is a famously known 80's TV show with a great movie that doesn't let itself down and there's not many 80's TV shows that can say they've had a movie made after them today.

Cons
  • It was such a popular show it's almost disappointing how it didn't run for longer and it would be good to see an A-Team 2 movie or perhaps even a new TV show but we'll have to see.

A-Team for me!

I remember Knight Rider being on, on a Saturday evening for me but it was never a television show I could get myself into and always lost interest in it after a while and found myself wondering off to do other things. With the A-Team that was a completely different story. Each episode was a new story and it was always interesting. I loved how Mr T would never want to get on a plane and they would always have a way to get him on that plane. B.A used to make me laugh, I loved how crazy he was in the A-Team, he really did make the show!

It was only a few years ago I was still watching this and really do think they could have done more with this television show, it was a shame to see them finish it when they did.

haha yes! I know what you mean! I used to be like that with Knight Rider too sometimes I think I remember now you've said that. But A-Team was like being superglued to the screen. They just don't make 'em like that any more! :)

classic cast of characters

How can anyone not love the A-Team? It's full of a classic cast of characters! Mr. T is hilarious and the show is always exciting and entertaining. I did not get to see this show often when it was on, but the episodes I have seen were really enjoyable. I still associate any van I see similar to one from the show with the A-Team anytime I pass one on the road. The writers of the A-Team did a great job putting the cast together. Great actors and all around good entertainment.

Knight Rider

Knight Rider
The Knight Rider was a TV show that ran from 1982 to 1986 and was also a very popular, family favorite for most people in the western world from the USA to the UK too way back in the middle to late 80's.

Knight Rider is an action TV show that was based on Michael Knight who, after getting shot in the face, devotes his life to fighting crime and seeking justice for those that need it the most.

Michael is employed by the billionaire Wilton Knight and given KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) which is basically a tuned up, souped up, Trans-Am Pontiac with an A.I. like intelligence.

KITT truly is the crime fighters vehicle of choice and Michael makes full use of it in virtually every show which usually involves helping Michael get in or out of a building or taking someone down!

KITT can not only hold an intelligent conversation with you but can reach speeds of up to 300 MPH, has ejector seats, can fire bullets, missiles etc, is bulletproof, fireproof, waterproof and more!

Unlike A-Team, Knight Rider never had a movie made after it based on the running series. However, recently in 2016 there was some talk of "rebooting" the series itself which sounds really promising for fans!

The Knight Rider rebooted series is actually in development as we speak and being lead by Fast And Furious director Justin Lin being collaborated by UniversalNBC and the Machinima digital network.

And while Knight Rider may have lost some of its lustre now, the original series was pure quality viewing back in the 80's and could never be replaced to how it was even if it was really very good.

That said, Knight Rider was a great show. Who didn't like seeing his cool, fast, talking car help Michael out in some way or take out some bad guys all on it's own? Well that was Knight Rider! Or KITT rather. :)

Anyway, which show did you like the most and why?

Pros
  • The Knight Rider was one of the most popular TV shows back in the 80's when it featured such an intelligent and smart and advanced car. And with David Hasselhoff behind the wheel we was always in for a treat.

Cons
  • The Knight Rider wasn't as greatly appreciated and or as liked as the A-Team was and there hasn't ever been a movie made about/for it although there is talk of a "reboot" which sounds promising for the fans!

Cool car...

Knight rider was a great TV series, we can say it was the first step to movies and TV series with action driving and cars. The concept of artificial intelligence was also included through Kitt. For a 80's TV show Knight Rider was really more than what we can expect. Every guy who watched this TV series has wished for a car like Micheal Knight's.....Haven't you??

Kit

I like Knight Rider more because of his car Kit which has an AI sentient computer. Which was quite unique then, remember this program run in the 80's and during that time computer functions was very limited. So who ever conceptualize this film was a real visionary. I'm choosing this over the A-Team which is a good action series because of Kit's Artificial Intelligence factor.

When I was a child I neve heard about A-Team, however, The Knight Rider was one of my favorite shows. I liked The Knight Rider because there was a fast riding car with interesting features and the good guy fighting bad guys. I loved the action scenes. I did not watch The Knight Rider when it was being shows, I was just a baby then. I watched The Knight Rider when it was retelecasted during the early 1990s.

To be honest, I am a fan of both shows. Mr. T is amusing in The A-Team and I think it became interesting mainly because of him. But choosing between the 2, it is Knight Rider for me. I was so amazed by KITT, that talking car who was the first AI machine that I saw on tv. And Michael Knight is so handsome and a dashing hero. David Hasselhoff is so appropriate for the role. I can remember my classmate swooning over Hasselhoff. In fact, I still remember that he stands 6 feet 4 inches. Correct me if I’m wrong, okay?
