The Concorde plane is not just a novelty

The Concorde plane is not just a novelty
From 1978 to 2003, the Concorde had been plying the airlane from Paris, New York, and London. This supersonic jet travels at Mach 2, that’s twice the speed of light or more than 2,000 kilometers per hour at an altitude of 60,000 feet. You can imagine the sound and vibration that the Concorde produces. That may be the reason why that big jet plane cannot just land in any airport because it can cause damage to the environment. The cost of a round trip ticket is around $12,000 which is very expensive. Aside from the enviable reputation that one has taken a Concorde flight, the jet lag is also minimized because of the faster travel. However, for the capacity of more than 100 passengers, it came to a point that operating the aircraft has become unprofitable and the business has to shut down its operations. Now the Concorde can be seen only in aviation museums.

At some point in the future, planes will be much quicker but unfortunately when they first come out with the technology these tickets will be extremely expensive just like how it was expensive to get a ticket for the Concorde plane. But after a while, it will become much cheaper and it will become the norm. It would be great to travel around the world in a few hours and the fact that jet lag would also be minimised is a huge benefit that I'm sure a lot of people will love

I think that as time goes by and the methods of transport evolve they might develop a cheaper fuel source or an alternative aircraft that might do well just like the Concorde or even better and still be profitable

One of the most obvious byproducts of supersonic flight is the loud boom. The shockwave that creates it is like an invisible boat wake that sounds like a loud clap to those on the ground and can even rattle and crack window panes. This shattering of glass could be one of the reasons it is not allowed for common use.

The Concorde plane have had its course and share of profit and fame when it was among the leading airline services that was being used by the American and other people around the globe.

The thing that we should all know about like in this world is that, nothing last forever. Even life itself is abridged by death when it's time comes. So therefore, the same thing is practically what happened to The Concorde plane.

This innovation, the other planes came and took its place, this happens in any domain, old PC is replaced by the new PC, old cars are removed from circulation and new and more powerful cars come and take their place...this is how technology evolves and we cannot stop things how they are now, we must keep up with inventions and the change that is taking place in the world!

It is sad that the plane had to be retired because it was unique. However, the tickets were also expensive, and it was a trip that not everyone could afford. I saw it in flight one time. It was about 3 times the size of a normal plane. No matter, we will likely be using planes that will fly into space soon.

The concorde plane was very exellent and it made travelling long distances to places that are far to be more easier and quicker. The challenge with the craft was the cost of maintaining it which was quite expensive, so we wait for another plane to be made that will be faster than the concorde and it will be affordable for all and easier to maintain.

My mother flew on the Concorde many times when she made a lot as upper management for a large bank. It was a really unique line and tragic that they had to shut down due to the disaster that happened considering their better than average record- but the bad press and declining sales lead to their demise. Btw the Concorde flew faster than the speed of sound, not light because we haven't created a means to travel faster than light haha.

Concorde was a fantastic invention. It's sad that it didn't work out and planes aren't getting faster now. The good thing is that the planes are far more accessible now than they were before. There are many airports and the tickets aren't as expensive as they were before. More people choose planes so hopefully the air transport will evolve.

It's a pity the Concorde planes out there aren't much anyomore. Since I was a kid, I had always dreamt of travelling in one and wanted to know what the experience would feel like. I guess this dream is shortlived now.

I have learned of the Concorde plane in 1986 when my husband went to London for a work assignment. He told me about it and I was amazed. Like you, we also had that dream of taking a Concorde for a plane trip. But unfortunately, there is no more Concorde now and only airbuses are dominating the air lanes. If ever the Concorde will fly again, I will really spend money just to be on it.

I recently saw a documentary on the Concorde plane, and I almost wish I hadn’t. The reason I say this is because it was so disappointing to see the details of why and how such a technological marvel was discontinued, never to be flown again. The Concorde was truly a marvel of engineering and a revolutionary step in commercial flight. However, a big problem was that it wasn’t cheap to keep running (or flying, rather) and it caused an immense amount of noise. That single accident which occurred was just the spark that ignited a flame ready to burst. Hopefully we see super-sonic travel become a reality again someday.
