The Evil Within 2

The Evil Within 2
Back in 2014, the year when the PS3 and Xbox 360 were still alive and roaring, a pretty good horror game came out, The Evil Within. It was a survival horror created by some person that worked to the most beloved Resident Evil saga. Critics loved it, players loved it, and now everyone have the chance to come back, to be scare once more, to survive once more, with The Evil Within 2. Still playing as Sebastian Castellanos, we will help this poor guy look for his daughter, trapped in a unkonwn world, after some evil corporation faked her death for some reason. While the story of the first one was a bit confusing and unclear in some points, the story in the sequel is considered by many a bit better, or at least easier to follow, with a extremely well written protagonist. It's impossible to not like Sebastian, to not feel empathy with him. Set in a fake virtual world created by the evil corporation mentioned above, there is a lot of events and stuff going on, and besides the main quest that follow the main story the players are also able to follow some subquests, but most of them aren't that good or interesting, and others are even a bit boring and too slow paced. The Evil Within 2 have parts set outside and other parts set inside: the part when we are inside, maybe in some building or elsewhere, are the best parts. Full of atmosphere, there are a lot of interesting ideas and almost all of them are extremely enjoyable, while the parts outisde... well, aren't that interesting and you migh often feel like waiting for the next indoor part. The game have a lot of tension, but it's a bit easier than the prequel. The movement is always slow, so escaping from enemies will be a experience to remember, absolutely terrifying. You can also increase your skills and abilities in the save points, making the game even a bit easier. However, there are harder difficulty settings avalaible. And of course enemies and boss fights are good, scary and memorable. Available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, The Evil Within 2 is maybe even better than the previous game (and that was good too!). If you are a fan of survival horror games, make sure to grab this.

  • Very good story
  • Even better than the prequel
  • The upgrade system is pretty good
  • A lot of atmosphere
  • Well optimized on PC
  • Pretty long, with around 15-20 hours of gameplay

  • Outdoor parts aren't that good
  • In some areas the graphic is not much detailed
  • Some sidequests can be boring
  • Some people might find it too hard, others too easy
  • Movement is a bit glitchy
  • Some parts are a bit too slow

Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7
Kids that used to own a Playstation, the very first one, probably played a little game called Resident Evil. Maybe back then we saw it just like a nice horror game, with some zombies and similar stuff. We couldn't imagine that it would become one of the longest and better videogame series ever. Sure, not every game was good as the first, but we still loved (almost) every episode. And now a new Resident Evil was released, just a few month ago, and while the title is Resident Evil 7 this is actually the eleventh game in the series, and a major change for the whole franchise. For the first time, the game is a first person shooter - it still have survival and horror elements, but we see everything from the perspective of our protagonist. You might like the idea or not, but it open up to new ideas, and a whole new atmosphere. The story doesn't have, this time, any superhuman, any supersoldier or any being like that, but just a simple human being, called Ethan Winters, in search of his wife Mia, missing from three years. This plot might seem very basic, but as you play the game you'll meet a lot of plot twist and everything will become more complicated and intriguing. The first person perspective, despite the initial critics before the release, actually works and add a lot of atmosphere. Walking through corridors, entering inside dark rooms and fighting enemies (the fights are slow but effective) is simply incredible, when you see everything that your characters see! Probably it won't have worked with the classic third person perspective like the old games. And the old games have their spirit represented pretty well in this new game: critics have praise how old and new meet, in a perfect mix, in a game that many people actually loved. You fight, you hide, you survive.... a lot of emotions, in the game that brought the Resident Evil zombies back to life.

  • Have the same feeling as the good old classic Resident Evil games
  • The new mechanics work well
  • Amazing setting
  • Very interesting story
  • Well written characters
  • A lot of tense and scary moments
  • Wonderful graphic

  • A bit short, in average around 10 hours of gameplay
  • Some problems with the textures
  • Not everyone is a fan of the first person perspective
  • The DLCs are boring and a bit useless
  • Some stuttering problems when moving between different areas

My favorite horror video game franchise

Been a long time fan of the Resident Evil series. I played the very first RE game on the PS. I was able to stomach the cheesy dialogue and the tank controls because it was so satisfying to shoot zombies in the head.

The highest point in the RE franchise was probably RE4. The game did everything right. The series brought back fan favorite Leon Kennedy, drastically improved the controls and aiming system and amped up the AI.

I was surprised to see RE7 take a different route from its predecessors. I didn't think that Capcom would be able to pull it off. But RE 7 turned out to be one fine horror video game that could give Outlast a run for its money.

Amazing game

I have played through both games and they're definitely worth buying but Resident Evil 7 was more of my type of game. I just loved everything about it - the story, the twists, the scares, environment and the way combat works.

I have been a long time fan of the Resident Evil franchise. I remember playing it on my old consoles and having a blast. It is really hard to beat the RE games because they've moved boundaries in the horror/scary games genre.

"Resident Evil" will always be my favorite horror game franchise (no matter how many games in the same follow up are created). I've been a fan of Resident Evil since I was a kid and after I became an adult, the love didn't change... Hahahaha.

Evil within is a good game to keep you busy as you look for a way out to finally escape from the terrible evils around.

Resident evil 7 is it for me though I'm.not s fan of horror games but after watching the film which was on point in terms of directing, soundtrack, props, cinematographic and editing.I just had to play the game to keep it going I wasn't disappointed anyway even though I had just forced my self to play it.

I love both of these games, so it's just not possible for me to vote for one of them. I've been a fan of the resident evil series since it first came out on the Ps1, and I've loved every single one of these games, including 6 which was criticized by everyone. The evil within has a resident evil vibe to it and it's awesome, especially in this generation that lacks really good horror games.

I have never heard of The Evil Within but I know Resident Evil. What I did not know was the seventh version of Resident Evil is already available in the market. I have not played any of Resident Evil games because I am not a fan of Zombies. I am interested in trying The Evul Within.
