The invasion of the whiteboard in classrooms

The invasion of the whiteboard in classrooms
It was the blackboard that was the common fixture in the classroom whether it is for grade school or high school or even college. The blackboard that uses chalk was the tool used by the teachers when I was a student. But now things have changed for the better. There is no more dusty eraser and messy chalk with the use of the white board marker that is very convenient much more that you can use different colors so the chart that you write on the whiteboard will be more attractive to the students. Gone are the days of the blackboard and all I can say is good riddance to you.

Both blackboard and whiteboard has their own drawbacks and benefits. It depends on how convenient the user is in using the boards and how readable it is for the students or listeners. Whiteboards can be beneficial for those who have allergies to chalk dusts. It is easier to erase the writings on the board and can be paired up with a projector, which is frequently used nowadays.

I like the white board more because one can still look very neat after using it and write ups are clearly especially for kids that like light writing.

There were no white boards and marker during my times. From my kindergarten to the master's program, there were only blackboards and chalks. These days blackboards have been totally replaced by white boards.

Black boards aren't that bad. And white boards aren't that good either. There are others who could see better white against black background. Plus chalks are much cheaper than markers and yet they serve the same purpose. So as long as the students learn, then I think black boards are still as good as whiteboards.

Both have great benefits but I would say whiteboards are pretty common in the United States. I mean most teachers do not really want to get their hands dirty plus it is very easy to erase and making the whiteboard still look clean and new as long as you get the right markers for the job. Some teachers make common mistakes where they bring in permanent markers instead.

I love the blackboard more. I grew up watching my teachers write and teach me on the blackboard and also it suits my eyes better. It is visible even from a long distance. Whiteboards are also good but their visibility is limited and also they reflect light.

I preferred looking at the black board compared to a white board. But the white board is so much better. I didn't like sitting in front back when we had black boards, because the dust from the chalks tend to trigger my pimple outbreak and acne. Also it isn't really good for anyone with asthma. I remember I was always the secretary in class, this meant that when there's lectures to be written on the board I'm the one in charge of writing it. I hated writing because I hated having chalk dust on my fingers.

It really good riddance to blackboard because it really used to dirty me as the board prefect in my SS1 class and I couldn't disobey my principal since he appointed me as the prefect. The white board is alot better.

Our school uses both and I think White board is lot more better compared to black board. Dust from chalk can asthma while in white we just need a marker and then eraser and it's convenient to use.

Yes, chalk dust isn't really helpful. I have suffered a lot of times because of chalk dust. Sadly, I had no option but to use it because we only had blackboards before.

When I was in grade school and high school blackboards were what was used, that only changed when I went to college. Nowadays even whiteboards are used less thought they are present in each and every room. My nephew's school requires iPads for each student and they would no longer write notes as everything is accessible through the school portal that is installed on the iPad. They would pass their assignments and papers also through that iPad, everything is digitized and teachers use presentations like PowerPoint and other like media to explain and introduce lessons.

Both of these black and whiteboards have been instrumental in producing great leaders in the world. Both of these fixtures have it's own pro's and con's but despite of their own advantages and disadvantages, these two instruments mold many students to reach their own dream. I really don't care if I use black or whiteboards as long as I my students learned their lessons.

I enjoyed the white board in the college and I saw a huge difference with the black board we used in my high school. It is good that black board have been phased out in all schools.

Some students like myself have irritation from the chalk and the chalkboard. Plus the chalk creates dust and residue and makes it harder to clean compared to the whiteboard and marker. It's also easier to read stuff written on a whiteboard compared to a chalkboard in my opinion.

Some prefer blackboard because they can read easily with it. But, others prefer whiteboard because it's clearer. I respect everyone's opinion. But, honestly, whiteboards are safer because it's free from the dust off the chalk that makes other people like me suffer

I think whiteboards are so much easier! Less mess as well - I remember for part of my school days chalkboards were still the thing and they were often so messy. Whiteboards make for much simpler clean up.

Yes, the trend of white boards is one of the things that I'm thankful of. I guess, no one would ever complain about changing what's old especially if it's the blackboard.

I learned most of my education on black board. And it was definitely easy for me to work with the whiteboard based classrooms later. The reason being whiteboards give more clarity. And also they are not bad on eyes like blackboard. So I prefer to make use of the green boards and white boards if I can.

As a kid, I used to have all kinds of fun with the blackboard. You always had an excuse to get out of class and go wash your hands after wiping the board. You could throw the duster at a friend on play time Fridays. You had to be careful as well not to get your uniform dirty while wiping the board (it took skill and a sense of good sanitation to pull this last one off. Things are just so much easier with the whiteboard. It's not all that fun anymore.

The invasion of whiteboards and markers in the classroom is a great thing it only shows that our education standards have improved. If I would choose between a blackboard versus a whiteboard I would definitely choose whiteboard simply because it is cleaner, you don't need to use a chalk ever again and cleaning the board will be less of a hassle. Chalkboards are dusty and I am allergic to dust.

Well I think it's okay if we use white boards than black boards. If we use chalk too much, there's an effect it in our body as chalk is a dusty one. I think it would be good if we now use white boards, besides we're already in modern society. One thing also is that its more neat or clean than the chalk because it can be messy sometimes because of its dust.

The invasion of the whiteboard in classrooms: The grade school in our province still uses the blackboard when even it was a new renovated classrooms, for me using a blackboard still adviceble for those grade student because they don't have enough knowledge in terms of using the whiteboard one, they will might use the pen in a wrong way.

I am a teacher and sadly, I'm allergic to chalk dust. I had bad allergic reactions to chalk dust, like everyday I had cough. I'm just glad that we switched to white boards. Though it's very expensive to consider the whiteboard pens and ink, it's still worth it.

When I was still a gradeschool student, our school uses blackboard when teaching. But when I reached college, the university that I got enrolled to uses whiteboard. It seems that it is safer to use whiteboard simply because you don't have to deal with chalk dust that may cause irritation to some students.

When I was in elementary up to high school we use blackboard on our class. When I study for college professors usually use white board during lectures. They use it more than black board because it has no dust from the chalk so it does not cause asthma.
Posted by luv2xacosta on 12-14-2018
Yes, that is very true, the Whiteboards have almost replaced all the blackboards which were used in all the schools in the past. Using the Blackboards for writing must have been a big hassle for all the teachers in the past. The chalks had to be replaced frequently and the written content had to be wiped with the help of a duster every time, one had to write new notes on the Blackboards. The White Boards have definitely made the job much more easier for the teachers.

I absolutely hated blackboards when I was a kid. They were so messy to write on, and the feeling of scraping chalk on the blackboard ran shivers up my spine. Not to mention we all had that one class clown who thought it would be a funny idea to scrape something sharp along the blackboard and make everyone cringe at the sound. They still used blackboards and chalk while I was in high school, but I finally got to move on to whiteboards and markers when I went to college, and I can honestly say that they’re an improvement in every possible way.

I never liked blackboards, it's hard to erase the writings plus chalks make so much mess I always wash my hands after writing because of chalk dusts. This is why I prefer whiteboards, they're a little reflective but still better than a blackboard.
