Toxic levels up?

Toxic levels up?
You'll encounter a lot of different people in an online gaming community. The differences isn't just on where they live, it's also different personalities of each individual. Online gaming communities years ago was a delightful place where people can talk and learn things from each other. But lately I've noticed that there are more and more toxic people around and it's making the community unbearable to a point. Is everyone else experiencing this strange phenomenon of rising toxic levels? What do you think is the possible cause for all these toxic behaviors in players?

I believe there are certain people who really are toxic or becoming toxic because of addiction to games and not only because of games but how they see their environment, how they see people around them . Sometimes it is because of members of the family who got to see them as very toxic also which also makes them like that. Sometimes it's because of genes that they have that kind of personality. I also think it's because of own personality and attitude that makes them more toxic person. The pride they have will make them more like that as they want to win over the competitors in games which can turn into addiction.

I agree with you. The outside factors can really affect your personality. Games are not the only reason why people become toxic. Sometimes also, the problems that you have at home are do unbearable that you just release the stress while on gaming mode.

There are PLENTY of toxic players in any kind of sport or e-sport related situations. There will always be that one toxic player rather on your team or the opposite team and you just have to bear with that person for the mean time. One thing that you must always be aware of when you are playing with a toxic person is to just communicate and to guide them towards victory instead of name calling them or making fun of them which puts them in a more toxic level. If you are against a toxic player then try to show good sportsmanship around them especially when things get escalated quickly such as outrages or fights.

Addiction to game with the be one of the reason. To the point that they'll get frustrated after losing in only one game. Specially younger players, they'll get easily pissed not knowing the became toxic player distracting other member putting them al the blame.

I think it has to do with the society in general. Back when online games were fun and insightful, I know it has everything to do with how the society was back then —compared to how it is now.

Excessive exposure to nudity, violence and other forms of immorality can make a gamer to come online and showcase what he/she has been inundated with. Couped with the fact that when online, we're faced with little or not restrictions with regards with what we say or do.

Yes it is true, being exposed to much to gaming can cause addiction so that's why parents should see to it that they really monitor their children when it comes to using gadgets and being exposed to any games. I mean it wouldn't be bad to play a games but there should be moderation and hey should know to control it. It can also cause some psychological problems especially to the minors who are not properly monitored by their parents. Since they are exposed to any games parents wouldn't if the games they playing are not suitable to their age and it has lots of violence that might affect the thinking of their children. Parental is really important and always see to it the the children understand well of what he or she playing and what they have seen in any gaming site.

Right, not just games but mobile phones in general it could be a liberating because by just typing or just one tap, your child can be redirected to a website that contains a lot of nudity or sexuality and that's the downside of having an internet. I agree the parents should monitor what their children are doing in their own mobile devices.

Well, you really can't avoid that. Unless you would want to bad online games as there will always be people who become frustrated when they lose the game. It's just natural for people to be competitive and be on his temper when he feels like he's not doing good. But, I really abhor people who talk trash especially inside an internet cafe, it's traight up disrespectful.

I also noticed how technology changed people. For me, the thing that is toxic among the online community is them being too judgmental and sensitive. The tend to judge things they didn't even understand the real story and I hate those kind of people.

I agree with you. It's just sad that even my personality or how I deal with things is already affected because of technology too. Well, I'm just glad that I didn't reach to the point where ai hold grudges and trow tantrums because of games.

I totally agree to your point. Gaming has now become an addiction these days. From students aged as young as 8 years old to older adults in their thirties everyone is glued to their gaming consoles/PCs/laptops in their free time. And they want to win everytime. And when they don't, they resort to abuse and curse their opponents and fellow players. This attitude needs to stop. Gaming is only for entertainment and it should be taken in that sense. Wins and losses are common in any game and being sportive is the only way you will move ahead in life.

Well for me they do it strategically they want to ruin your game simply talking trash and suddenly lose on focus. Well sometimes I began deliberately just being ridiculous and doing silly, stupid, and in widespread lighthearted matters fully expecting to die and it ended up being a ton of amusing for me that way, without a lot frustration to cope with. It also helped allow me to off steam too.

I agree with you. Though online games are good for amusement and entertainment, it is also toxic for being addictive and for having no parameters to control the behavior of their players. They can't help their players to be professional. I have seen and heard a lot of trash talks in online games and they don't do anything about that. I haven't even heard an online games that promotes sportsmanship and good values.

Sometimes I can't just understand players and the way they want to go about being addictive,it can be really annoying and it is the same people that are becoming toxic. it really appalling to say the least.

Yes, I do have the same sentiments. People are getting more serious nowadays with the gaming world unlike before. Nowadays you are playing to compete and when you have a noob team mate and you can't afford to lose, you'll blame them. Sometimes even the noob ones are the loudest in the game. Unlike before that we are just playing to have fun. It's like they are putting all their stress into the game. I really don't get them.

I agree with you. It's just annoying to hear these people shout inside internet shops as if they own the place. Well, even though we want to complain, we cannot really avoid them. It's just natural for people to get angry. Well, I just hope that they don't get to the level where that hold grudges against each other.

Some people hit gaming communities to hack, steal passwords, harass or troll people. Just like some people surf the web for the exact same reason. This kind of behavior will never go away, unfortunately.

It's sad that there are people desperate enough to intentionally do bad things and hurt other people. It makes me question the values these people have.

Was the online gaming community really ever as delightful as you seemingly remember it? As far back as I can remember, the online community was always filled with trolls and just generally toxic people. I remember when Halo and Call of Duty were just barely beginning to gain popularity, you already had a bunch of pre-teens screaming into their microphones about how they had sex with my mom (hence the meme). To this day you can still have amazing online interactions with people, but you’re also going to find plenty of trolls and toxic people. The combination of anonymity and freedom to say what you want can make people do some crazy things, and it always has.

Negativity is everywhere and I can agree. People now are more toxic than the previous generation. And I'm afraid it's going to stay that way for the foreseeable future. There's just so much negativity out there that toxic people are influenced by it. It's up to the people in the right mind to set examples to other people despite the toxicity of most people.

I think in past lot of atheism promoters hurt the gaming community. And now the feminism supporters doing the same. And to top that millennial mindset. You can see that it seems like gaming community is the first that has the most issues with the new changes and the trends. It's kind of predictable that this community is sensitive.

Because anyone online can be anonymous and not be accountable for what he or she does. When I encounter toxic people, I ignore them and get on with my life whether online or offline. Never get affected and treat it personally when someone look down upon you as he/she might only be stressed at the time.

Maybe because they are expose on the games they play especially if it is a violent game they tend to carry it on the reality and they seem to be irate and always mad. Sometimes online gaming can be use for harassment and bullying other people which is not good by the way. If I'm going to encounter this kind of toxic people I would just ignore them in order not be so stressed and get mad at the same time.

You have a very good point. They might be affected by the adrenaline rush that they are experiencing while playing games, especially when it involves killing. It is very alarming, but I think we really cannot stop them as gaming companies will do anything to earn money.

Online gaming is the entertainment of the masses nowadays as it entertains hundreds of millions of players around the world on daily basis. Along with the popularity of online gaming, phenomenon of toxic behavior has also taken root in those games. Toxic behavior is strongly present in current day online games and very few people are spared from it nowadays. Toxic behaviors like cheating and griefing were found to affect the gaming experience and flow sensation found in gaming in a very negative way. Unchecked cheating was even found to be a cause for quitting a game for good for some people.

Well, toxicity is increasing in all the spheres of life. You can see toxic people on almost all social interactions online, right from the Social Media platforms to various online gaming avenues. The people who indulge in spreading hatred in the online gaming communities are generally the game addicts who are unable digest defeat and who always want to win. Such people will resort to all kinds of cheating and fraud just in order to dominate the gaming community and are responsible for spreading negativity and hatred amongst the online gamers.

Yes, more than just thinking is happening only on gaming community, it is happening in general. Nowadays, you can find toxic people everywhere you go. I think the stress and depression levels are rising up, and people are showing the results by expressing themselves in a toxic way. Is like they're losing tolerance, patience, good manners, and they're just living day by day, without caring about any other thing but themselves.

I have been playing online games for the past 15 years and have not really noticed any rise in toxicity within the community. It has always seemed like quite the toxic place to begin with. Perhaps before my time, there was a golden era of polite and helpful gamers.

What I have noticed changing is people being quite a bit more sensitive to the environment and getting upset. In the past, I rarely heard of anyone getting offended over what was said to them in an online game. Nowadays, when I read online comments from gamers, there is a large percentage of them who are quite vocal about the toxicity they encounter and they want it to stop. Perhaps our tolerance is just getting lower.

I agree with this. I think that the toxicity we are experiencing in real life is pouring into our online community. Just take a look at what is going on in the real life. Starting with the most powerful country of America. Look at all the hate being spewed by people of all genders and races. Worldwide the levels of hate are at astronomical levels. I'm not surprised that this hate is being transfered to online gaming communities.

I think it is not just because of addiction to games, but rather it is the kind of games that people are playing these days. A lot of games these days that when the player is on the game, he/she doesn't want to be disturbed because he/she might lose the game. There are players now that are so sensitive when the lost in the battle. Games these days have great impact on the behavior of the players.

I think it's about the times we live in. Most people these days are unhappy. I think it's owing to the fact we are often very alone. We are out of touch with family, friends, and just people. There is a tension that builds with this kind of life. This translates to a state where everything else rubs us off the wrong way. When this tension reaches a certain point, toxic levels get really high and we end up venting on people, especially on online communities such as gaming sites.

People tend to act like they are game characters, it's a form of addiction. It is sometimes dangerous for their mental state, thus they become more violent. And other only fuel their obsession by engaging other who acts and think like them. It is best to try to understand them and find a way to bring them back to reality rather than force them.

I am not into gaming but I have people close to me who are. The toxic level you are saying may be the side effect of the frustration in their games that sometimes they lose a game that they didn’t think they should have. It is like the disappointment that was building up and just looking for an outlet. That is true with athletes especially basketball and tennis players.

I just ignore them. Do not put yourself within their levels. Once you argue with a toxic player, the whole gameplay will be messed up. You can mute these players while in a game. This will be better for you to just focus on playing than thinking of what to say against them.

Well, from my experience with associating in a group of people and doing things together, I have come to understand that individual differences have a big role in deciding how most people behave.

So, when you in a gaming community, never expect everyone to behave in a reasonable manner because it's never going to be possible to have such happening under such circumstances.

Yes a have a lot of experience with this toxic individual this kind of people take joy in trash talking there fellow gamer or player. i wont addiction is the reason why this players tend to act like this because i have know some hardcore gamers who doesent act like a 9 year old online. Some players are just more mature than others, and my suggestion is if you encounterd one of this toxic individual just mute or audio or chat.

Yes toxic players are huge ni the gaming industry but how you handle it is what matter, if they are toxic and you keep barking on them then you're probably toxic too, it's about being able to handle the game even with toxic players.
