What are you favorite movies that had you fooled or got a twist?
Ahh~ These kinds of movies really make it more interesting to watch, specially if you are feeling innocent. :D Here are a few of the movies which I've watched that has made really good twists at the end, or have double meanings:

Shutter Island Donnie Darko Inception The Italian Job The Fight Club Lost Highway OldBoy The Sixth Sense (the boy in the thumbnail)

I actually have more but I have forgotten their titles.

How about you though, can you share us your lists of movies who have double endings or major twists? I'd really appreciate it if you do, it'll be one hell of a weekend twists marathons for sure! I'm currently downloading some movies which are recommended by my friends. Some of them are modern ones or the the late 20s. Cheers!

Pan's Labyrinth. Guillermo Del Toro is master storyteller, both visually and story-wise, and Pan's Labyrinth will leave you questioning the plot. Shutter Island and Donnie Darko are also on my list of favorite movies in this genre, and if you're in the mood for something more horror related, My Bloody Valentine and Cabin in the Woods are great watches as well.

I've seen that Pan's Labyrinth from a lot of recommendations. It keeps popping up. I did not bother watching it because I was skeptical but now I might try it. Haven't seen that Del Toro but I will surely check it out. Indeed, Donnie Darko and Shutter Island are one of the best head-twisting movies. :D I've seen Cabin in the Woods. Good movie but not as good as Donnie Darko. :p

Well to be fair, it's hard to make something better than Donnie Darko. Jake Gyllenhaal was phenomenal is that movie. I like to look at Cabin in the Woods as a giant metaphor for the horror movie genre, and how the ending could be a metaphor for the filmmaker's job to please the us, the audience, with their movies. There was an interesting article I read about it a while back that really made me think about the movie, hence why I hold it in such high regards as well.

Oh my! I might be thinking about different movie but I have thought wrong. I checked and it wasn't the Cabin in the Woods movie that I thought I knew. It was Cabin Fever. I haven't watched the Cabin in the Woods movie but I would watch it for sure. Yes Jake was very outstanding on his movie. I'm not sure if it was his debut movie but he really did good. And it is so touching. He risked his life to save the whole universe that could potentially be eaten by a black hole from which existed in the tangent universe. :')

All the movies that was mentioned are my favorite because of it being unpredictable. Adding to that list is "The Others", it's a story about a family living together in a huge house. Wanted to be isolated is the main reason why the mother prefer it that way. They thought they were bothered by ghost because of there are always strange things happening in the house. At the end, they are the one who is the ghost.

Yes the others is one of the movie that i remember which have the unpredictable ending. And also predestination is one of the most twisting films i've seen. And you can also add identity starring john cusack.

The others? I thought I've heard of this before. Hmm. Probably from the movie The Fifth Wave. Omg. You spoiled it out. >.> Not gonna watch that. :D Thanks for recommending though.

Yes, The 6th sense and the Others both had me really fooled. I love a good twist. Gone Girl was another one that had me scratching my head. It was a pretty good twist. I love a good plot twist. I am reading a book now that has that suspense to it. I thought I had it figured out, but now I am not so sure!

Yeah The Sixth sense was pretty creepy for me at the end. No wonder I felt that something is not right. What book is that? Who is the author? That'd probably have some twists you better be careful and be prepared! :D

I honestly didn't see the twist at the end of Fight Club coming. Fair warning, spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't seen the movie but may wish to. I suppose it's because I was just watching casually and didn't know what I was going into when I went to the movie. I simply wasn't putting the pieces of the puzzle together. In fact, I actually disliked the movie as I was watching it the first time through because certain things didn't make sense outside of the split personality perspective. I just chalked it up to being another bad movie. Then the big reveal happened and all the weird little moments suddenly made perfect sense. My teenage mind was blown! I immediately bought a ticket for the next showing and watched it again. It became one of my favorite movies because it taught me to always be alert for tricks.

Wahaha. Poor teenage mind of yours! But yeah so damn true! That movie didn't make any sense when it was on it's first quarter. I thought that the twists was I don't know one of them will become a bad guy or one of them ordered those negative attacks and something. But it was pretty traumatic. I had goosebumps at the last quarter of the movie when it's slowly revealing something. Good stuff!

I love the plot twist in The Sixth Sense. It was a great movie and I never saw the twist coming. A Beautiful Mind is another favorite of mine with a plot twist that I never saw coming. Those are two of my favorite shows.

Right. It's a great movie indeed. Same as you, I did not really expect that to happen. I thought he was just you know, fine. It's creepy at the end but it is really an interesting movie. Bruce Willis really did a great job on that one. Thanks for suggesting , I will check that later. :)

The Sixth Sense was the only one that did that for me. I didn't see that ending coming at all. It totally blew me away and I couldn't believe that I didn't pick up on it at all. When I rematch ed the movie all the signs were there to be seen but yet they went unnoticed the first time. It wad an excellent movie. I have not seen another like it.

Yes I agree. I always had hope for a sequel. It was one of my favorite movies. I can still remember how I felt when I first seen the ending. It really blew me away. There was a bunch of us watching and we call just kind of looked at each line wtf? lol

88 is that movie for me. [Spoiler] The way that they strung us along through the movie looking for the killer while staring at the killer the whole time blew my mind. I don't want to say too much more if anyone wants to watch it but the movie isn't for everyone. I won't be that guy that is all I will say it was a great movie and quite a bit of a plot twist.

Daybreak was the movie for me. The movie was an endless loop of a person that dreams about what will happen to him the day after. He tried to stop the evil to come as dreamt but somehow, things will get mixed up and I don't even know if it was a dream or the reality. Couldn't finish the movie. Lol

6th sense had me fooled as I never knew Bruce Willis was the ghost where it turned out, in the end, he was a spirit. All the way through the movie Bruce Willis who played Dr Malcolm thought he was alive he was helping the young boy. Brilliant movie :) love spirits ghosts and paranormal movies.

One of my favorites, and so I remember most easily is "The Others" (with the incredible / amazing Nicole Kidman in the main role). That movie is excellent and the twist is simply a jaw-dropping. It's one of the best movies that I've watched.

The plot twist on The Others and the sixth sense left me with my jaw dropped, great pieces. of cinema, also a good plot twist I just love so much is the one from Unbreakable, that movie was so intriguing.

To be honest, I think The Sixth Sense is the movie that has fooled me the most. I remember I watched it very long time ago, I think I was in the 8th grade, and I wasn't expecting that ending at all. It was a great movie and it caught me from the beginning to the end.

One movie I disliked was Lucy. I thought it wasn't a non-fiction that's why. I was disappointed that it was so much of a science fiction movie. I didn't even finish the movie and changed into another DVD, since we watched it at home.

It's not that bad I guess. I actually loved it. Did you know that the movie Lucy has a reference to a science study and research about the total percentage usage of our brains? There is actually a documentary and a live explanation and some Q & A about that.

I you want a movie similar to Lucy but with great effects and a good twist, I suggest you watch The Ghost in a Shell. Same actress, Scarlett. Cheers!

Damn, I absolutely loved the Sixth Sense and Shutter Island. They both shocked and surprised me with their twists... They also have incredible acting cast and a great story.

Besides those two I recommend that you watch The Game - this one is a bit old but believe me that is worth the watch. You will love it. And a movie called "Stay" - it didn't get that much exposure but I watched it a couple of years ago and still remember it till this day. That should say enough.

Haha same here! Was having goose bumps after watching those two!

Wow thanks for the recommendation! How old is it though? Unless it's not black and white I'm down for it! I will go and search these movies that you mentioned. I trust you that these are good because you loved the Sixt Sense and Shutter Island that much. ;) Thanks!

I have seen some of the psychological thriller movies such as - source code, donnie darko, shutter island and few others. Most of those movies ended in a right way. As you can see there are times when the people may not like such thriller and horror movies. Twisted stories can be fun but you have to find them. A lot of them don't get much screen time respect like other movies. But it's worth watching.

The Sixth Sense was spoiled to me before I watched it, so I didn't really enjoy the movie at all. But for others movie... Fight Club had a pretty twist, and going back rewatching the movie you see a lot of hints. Rich of details. But this is another movie you already talked about. But I'm surprised that literally no one talked about The Usual Suspects! It's one of the most memorable movie twists! If you haven't watched the movie, go check it out now! Also another good movie with some kind of twist is Memento, which is an amazing movie! Probably the best Nolan movie (yes even better than The Dark Knight!). Watch that movie too if you haven't see it.

All the movies you have said in your post are one of the best. The Sixth Sense was a movie that made me think few times when I saw its ending. The fact that Bruce Wills was already dead and he was the one who needed to be saved and not the kid made me not to sleep in that night. This movie was one of the best ever made!

Check out my replies from the bottom of this thread I have added some movies which are also amazing and could twist your head! :D That's true about that movie you said. After watching that movie, I felt so dumb and stupid for not realizing that he was alone the whole time. I literally freaked out when the final scene showed. Now I am trying my best to stay focused and pay close attention to almost all details of each movie I watch. :D

I'm a pretty big fan of psychological thriller films, so I could say I have a couple of movies up my sleeve which are notable for having pretty good twists. At the top of my list would have to be Memento, The Machinist, Shutter Island, and Fight Club. Being that some of those are already on your list, you're left with The Machinist and Memento to watch. Another good one is Secret Window, and while it is not the most high quality flick it does have a good twist.

TheArticulate
Memento is a breath of fresh air in a world where linear storytelling is a large expectation in films. What makes it such a great twist is that the fact that the story is told out of sequential order is what creates the twist in the first place.

I agree with this, it's very original and I really wasn't expecting the twist in the movie. It was beautifully made and thought out nicely.

Same. I forgot about Memento but yeah it is a good movie. As what TheArticulate said, that is the movie wherein the plot is reversed right? And that also reminded me of Mulholland Drive. Very amazing movie. Lynch is really a mastermind when it comes to purging out our expectations and turning them into hopelessness or even to nothing. It's like he is using our expectations to make a food out of ourselves.

Shutter Island was the biggest twist for me too. I've watched fight club but my friends have spoiled me before I even watched the movie so I didn't really get as much climax out of the movie, but I enjoyed it nevertheless and it's still one of my most favorite films to date. I loved Shutter Island because I literally didn't see the ending coming. The whole time I thought Leo DiCaprio was being set up by the staff. Such a fantastic movie and Leo never ceases to amaze me in ever one of his films.

Mulholland Drive is one of the best movie I have ever seen. Hands down. And if you are planning to watch Shutter Island, I suggest you stop scrolling down because there are spoilers below which I made and it might ruin the twist for you, or not really but try to avoid it. :D

Mine would be Shutter Island, The Sixth Sense and Timecrimes. I won't spoil the details for those who haven't seen the movies yet. I love movies with twist. Among the three, Shutter Island was the best. Since it really makes me think and I'm still not sure which is which.

Yeah I agree with you about Shutter Island. Such a masterpiece. WARNING: Spoiler Trivia - STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE: did you know that Shutter Island is about his wife and kids and how he blamed his self for it? Thus the movie title Shutter Island - Shut her Island, Shoot her Island. ;)

The Boy in the Striped Pyjama is a hauntingly sad movie with a horrible twist at the end. Some might call it karma but that movie is so sad. I watched with my kids and the three of us ended up crying at the end. They couldn't stop talking about the movie for days. I also loved the 6th Sense. Had no idea it would end up that way.

Terminator series this movies always give me goose bumps. I mean the whole idea of sending machines that could take any form and will not die easily. The part that me freaks me to most is when the bad guys could take on Arnold Schwarzenegger form. There I was confused and scared for John because he didn't know who to trust. That is the movie that really got me.

The Usual Suspects? Man it literally took my breath away after watching it the first time. I tend to guess the ending or the twist in movies, but this one? It took me off guard, punch me in the gut and knock me off my feet! Kevin Spacey is such a brilliant actor!

Fight Club and Sixth Sense were probably the best movies with twists that really got me. I watched both of those not really knowing much about them because they were made in an era where internet spoilers or even the internet wasn't really all that popular yet, nor did I see tons of trailers and reviews prior to watching them, like I would now, so I went in with as little knowledge as possible which is a big part of why I think I enjoyed the twists in them. However, I don't attribute my enjoyment completely on just the twists, but more so just due to the fact that they are both well written and well made movies in general.

For me a movie with amazing twists was The Prestige, not only was the story what some might call "mind bending" but it always found a way to keep everything under a veil of mystery that kept building tension. Nonetheless the movie is a cinematographic masterpiece with amazing acting and soundtrack, if you did not watch it I wholeheartedly recommend you do as soon as you get the chance to.

One of the first movies with a twist I remember watching was The Game with Michael Douglas. It's not a popular movie but it was directed by Fincher. It's a thriller in which Douglas plays some mysterious game and at the end the viewer sees what the game was about. It was very interesting and I was shocked seeing the ending but it was very clever.
