Which movie portrayal of Dr. Doom was worse?

A lot of people know and love this Marvel villain. The arch nemesis (and sometimes kind of ally) of the "Fantastic Four". He has a bitter rivalry with Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and has been a formidable foe to many other heroes. Even some people that have never read the comics can recognize him for his appearance in video games and cartoons.

Victor Von Doom, best known as Doctor Doom, is the ruler of Latveria (a fictional european country). He was born to a romani tribe, his father was some kind of medic and his mother was a witch. His mother was tricked by a demon and died when he was a little child and his father died a couple of years later. His face is badly scarred due to an accident with a machine he was building (in some versions and retcons the story is way more convoluted than that), so he wears a medieval looking armor that also covers his face. His main powers are his genius level intellect, as he's one of the smartest people in the world, and his mastery over the mystic arts (Yes, he's a sorcerer too). He has managed to combine technology and magic (a really difficult feat) to create many amazing things. However, he is really arrogant and can be too self centered, which is what causes his downfall most of the time. He's also an inventor, can play the piano and paint quite well, lives in a castle, cares for the well-being of his subjects, created a time machine, likes sophisticated things and usually speaks in third person.

Now, knowing this information about the comic book character, which movie portrayal of him was worse, the one in the 2005 film or the one in the 2015 film? Please consider power set and personality.

I haven't really watched this movie, and honestly it's my first time of hearing about the movie's name "Dr. Doom". But as it's a marvel movies production, I definitely believe that it's going to be an interesting film.

Marvel is known to be one of the best movie producers especially when it comes to fictional movies. I think I would be moving to watch this movie as soon as possible and maybe I would drop back here and explicitly give you the best one that portray Dr. Doom worst.

Honestly, they were both awful. But it's because Doctor Doom is an awful character who's so rooted in the camp of the time he was conceived that there's no modernizing him into a semi-believable form that doesn't also entirely erase him as a character. I've often said that what made the Batman franchise so great is he had a higher quantity f believable, iconic villains, than any other comic book. Unfortunately, the Fantastic 4 never had that benefit.

Recent movie of the fantastic 4 was dragged. There was no personal character development. And everything in the movie was rushed. In comparison the movie with jessica alba showed the Doom lot better. I have found out that the new movie turned out to be boring in that context. It's pity how the Dr doom in new movie is also so boring. And it can be waste of time to watch such movie if you ask me.

i already watch marvel with Dr.Doom appearance but i never found any worse portrayal all the actors who portray Dr.Doom on the movie did a good job maybe on the cartoons movie of avengers with Dr.Doom opponent i watch all the series and i found out that Dr.Doom is not that great he is not having a good graphics and fighting style so for me that is the only negative side the rest i am okay with it.

Honestly, I don't like the way this character is portrayed at Fantastic Four movies. They make him seem so lame. This one is supposed to be full of power, evilness, and a great villain, and unfortunately it doesn't look like that on those movies. I would love to see a movie based just in his character, where his whole life story is developed and it has the chance to amaze the audience and the fans.

I have no idea how they portrayed him because I haven't seen him in any movies yet. But just reading through the comments here not many seem to be impressed with his portrayal. However, I will make sure to give the Fantastic Four a try and pass a judgment myself whether it was good or bad!

To be honest I didn't quite like the way they portrayed him in the movies. The Fantastic Four movie produced in 2005 was much better than the one produced in 2015. I preferred the cast and in my opinion they acted much better. The final fight scene involving the Fantastic Four and Dr Doom him was not that great. I was expecting something more spectacular.

Honestly, I think all attempts to portray this villain in theaters were bad (the scripts always treat the character as something secondary and without the importance due). But, if I had to choose the least bad, I would say that the version interpreted by Julian McMahon (Fantastic Four, 2005, directed by Tim Story) is the winner because he at least created a better connection with the audience.

Every one of the Doom portryals is worse then the previous one. I have watched him in the 2005 movies and totally disliked the acting as well as the costume of the character.

Doom is one of those villains that looks worse than before everytime he appears. I just don't understand why they're not able to portray him in a good way. I really liked the fantastic 4 when I was a child but looking back at all of his appearances now, they were all pretty bad.

The last one really was the worst. I didn't even really hate that movie all that much but I would still say that the Dr. Doom there was lackluster. I also don't even get all the praise this villain gets from comic book fans because I've never got into it myself but even I could see how badly they portrayed him this time. The old ones at least looked closer to how he looked in the comics.

Well, I have not watched his movies, but I can clearly say that the man was good, I have been hearing and seeing the good works he has been doing and it's quite commendable and especially the fantastic 4 movie, he did a good job there as well. Although I'm still yet to watch it.

The 2015 version was far, FAR worse. I rather enjoyed Julian McMahon as Dr. Doom/Victor Von Doom. Even in the terrible sequel, FANTASTIC FOUR:RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER. But in the 2015 film his character lacked charisma and any interesting traits at all. Seemed rather angsty actually.

I have watched Dr Doom in 2005 movie as well as 2015 movie. However, I was not familiar with this character and I did not know his origin until I read the information provided here. I don't know which movie portrayed Dr Doom worst because I liked both movies and the character.

This is another tribute to a villain which is just fine because in the olden times, the villain was not given any recognition. At least now, we are aware of Dr. Doom and even if he is evil and always trying to ruin the life of the heroes, Dr. Doom is not doomed when it comes to popularity. Marvel superheroes are indeed getting so popular that they are now in level with the DC heroes.

I hate the 2015 movie, I think the 2005 movie was way better because it stars Jessica Alba as Sue Storm and Chris Evans as the human torch also the Ben Grimm they have was much better than the 2015 Ben Grimm. Victor Von Doom was played by Julian McMahon and his powers then was not fully shown but in the 2007 rise of the silver surfer movie I think Von Doom was at his best.
