Who would you prefer to be your travel companion?
Eve though a couple could be head over heals in love they need not be ideal companions for each other. However, I have always preferred my husband to be my travel companion but for some reason I went on a holiday once with a lady companion and regretted the decision.

We went on a package tour of Australia and new Zealand and the travel agents gave a list of what we should bring along. Organised that I am I had every single item that was included in that list but my companion kept borrowing things from me. She had left out many items from that list She even fell sick butt she had no medicines to take care of her. In a foreign country doctors are very expensive and unless a doctor prescribes one cannot bguy medicines there. I am a morning person but she kept late hours and since we were sharing the same room in the hotel I had sleepless nights.
I needed her to join me to watch a play in Sydney at the famous Opera House there but she declined. I lost an opportunity of a life time. She found someone sharing interests with her and noticed she would keep her company more than she would be with me. At some point specially sharing a cable car seat i had to share it with someone else as she was nowhere to be seen.

I always preferred to board the bus on time but the bus driver had to wait for her arrival as she always a late comer much to my annoyance. She took too long to get ready and once down she would go up to our room to pick up something she had forgottoen to bring with her. We are friends but it never occurred to us whether we would be ideal as travel companions. It is better to travel alone rather than have someone who does not walk with you hand in hand.

I believe the ideal travel companion would be someone who shares your interests and habits. A companion will want to attend the same sites and events as you and won't generate conflict by having different lifestyle choices. Ex: fast food vs. health food, night owl vs. early riser.

However, the person you described seemed not only to be a ill-fitting travel companion for you, but a bad fit for anyone. Not being prepared for daily situations and unwillingness to go on adventures can ruin anyone's trip.

I agree with you, it doesn't matter if it's your husband, your wife or a close friend. It's important to be with someone you can get along with, someone that shares your interests and enjoys doing the same things as you. If you go with someone who doesn't understand what you want you'll only be a nuisance to each other.

The trips I've gone on with companions have gone the best when both myself and the traveling companion have a shared interest in where we are going and are both willing to compromise within reason. Obviously the individual who joined you on that trip wasn't a good match for a traveling companion for you. Typically, I travel alone or with people I know well to avoid conflicts ruining my trip.

I don't mind traveling alone so I am not really all that pressed for companionship when I go out of the country. I'd rather just meet and talk with the locals there if I could. However, sometimes it is also nice to bring some friends but if I had the choice I would just bring along a partner who I am intimate with because I think that can a lot more fun than just going with friends since after the first few days I don't really feel much like conversing anymore but if I had someone I could be intimate with then I could have fun from day to night because I could enjoy the sights with them as well as when we get back to the hotel.

My ideal travel companion is my partner in life. My girl friend. I could not ask for a better travel buddy. She's very fun to be with. There's not a dull moment when she's around. We get along quite well. She tells stories, she sings songs even if her voice isn't that good, she asks riddles, cracks jokes... And she's also in charge of the navigation. Whenever we go to a place we are unfamiliar with, she's the one in charge of going through Google Maps or Waze and searching for directions.

My girlfriend is so into traveling. She loves to travel everywhere. She loves to go places and loves to explore. That's what makes her such a great travel companion.

I wish to go on plane on my own with no companion. I have done a lot of fear in my head. And I have to fight this anxiety of alone travel. And that is something I guess we all are going to see once in our life. Once we fight that anxiety then surely it would be something to deal with. I don't mind flying with my loved ones. But that's something we are going to learn slowly. And this may means things change as we speak.

My ideal travel companion would be and is, the love of my life, my partner. He literally shares my interests and my hobbies, we are like soul mates and twins. That's why traveling alongside him is always so much fun and we never get bored when we're together. Plus, if I'd get scared, he'd calm me down and vice versa. I believe that your travel companion should be somebody that you're extremely comfortable with and know for a very long time.

My ideal travel companion would be someone with sense of humor and not a boring person. You'll enjoy more if you're with someone who loves adventure and always game with everything. I love travelling with my boyfriend and my close friends, because i know i can trust them whatever happens and won't leave me. It is much better to travel with someone who you personally know and trust a lot. Plus, i always enjoy being with them.

I can't imagine myself to be traveling abroad without my husband. Sometimes we travel with relatives but most of the time, it's just him and me. In fact, we are in South Korea now for a week of vacation and late last month we were in Taiwan. I am very comfortable with my husband and I cannot say the same even if it is my sister that I am traveling with. I may have many complaints.

My preferred travel companion would be my husband. We love to travel together and go on adventures together. We always have so much fun when you go anywhere together. I can't imagine anybody else that I would rather share those wonderful memories and experiences with. We have a long list of places that we would like to go to in the future. I can't imagine taking somebody else as a travel companion. He would be my first choice everytime.

When I get married, I would also love to travel with my wife as well. It must have been exciting moments each time you embark on a journey with your husband and that's what I want to copy too when I marry the love of my life.

I would always prefer to travel with my sister unless it is going to be a far distance journey that I wouldn't have to stress her that much. She is fun and always make it lively moments when I'm with her. She is the best companion that I ever had.

I prefer to travel with my family. I feel safer when they are around especially when I am in a foreign country. My brother and I have similar interests and I have fun when he is around. We have visited five countries together so far and we are planning another trip next month. My brother is also very patient. I think he is the only one who can tolerate me. lol. He has always been my best friend and we understand each other so well.

I prefer to travel with a spouse or close friend. I don't hate traveling alone but it is more fun when you travel with a friend. I would like to try group travel sometime though. I have never done that and I think it might be interesting. I will take some trips like that if I get a chance. I think it would be a good way to socialize and enjoy things.

Honestly, a lot of people find me boring (and a little bit "cold heart"), but I prefer to travel alone. Of course that I like company like everyone else (I'm very talkative), but specifically for travel... I always prefer to go it alone.

Let's hope she doesn't find this post or you might lose a friend lol. Luckily for me, I don't really have any people like this. Most of the people that have been my travel companion in the past have been fine and luckily we have similar tastes and habits so neither of us get annoying with each other.

I don't have one honestly. I certainly wouldn't want to travel long distances with an obnoxious person or offensive person. But I prefer to travel alone to be honest, most of the time.

I guess there is no point in traveling alone if you are in a relationship. So yes my GF would do it. We could even travel with other pals but definitely not without each other. It's mainly an excuse to run away from the relationship

I will prefer a woman that i love with all my heart to always be my travel companion since we will always be able to share our burdens together.

That definitely sounds like the right thing. I have seen people doing the same. I guess some people like going out as a couple. And some people like going out on their own. So that's something you can see them doing good in that case as well. I am sure that with due time that sort of experience can be something people remember for longer.

I would prefer to travel with someone who have the same interests as mine. I have had a travel companion before and she was my officemate but she also doesn't want to do the things that I want so I know how it feels how to have an ill-fitting travel partner.

My travel companion would be my best friend we share a lot of common interest and we like to "TURN UP". Traveling should be fun, safe and enjoyable your trip sounded intolerable unfortunately.

I'm not a fan of traveling in general so I don't really know who I would ideally want to travel with. I suppose there are certain characteristics that would make some people easier to travel with than others. For one thing it would have to be someone who doesn't want to pack our schedule to the brim with activities and site seeing. I'm someone who likes to go with the flow so if you're too controlling about when and where we have to be, I'm probably not going to have a good time with you.

I think that, if we want to travel to another country, we need to travel with someone else because the trip could be more enjoyable, also, you can support each other if something, non-planned, happens. The thing is that person needs to want the same things that you do want to do so, you can avoid uncomfortable decisions of what it's better to do or where it's better to go.

I have a friend who was also my colleague and we happened to share the same interests and styles in life. We've traveled to many places and every experience was always nothing but fantastic. I've decided that my friend will always be my official travel companion regardless of the destination.

Of course, it's always better to travel with your family to the destination where you can enjoy the most. Yes, I'm single now and doesn't have someone who can go with me on a trip like this but that's okay, girlfriend always comes and goes but not your family as they will stick to you till the end. It's also convenient to bring your family with you since your parents will take care of the bill. LOL

If I am allowed to choose only one travel companion than it will be my wife. I have been married for four years, however, owing to our hectic schedue (we both have jobs) we have not traveled to many places. In the last four years, we have been to handful of cities and we really enjoyed. If I can have a bunch of traveling companions, I will choose to travel with my family, my parents, wife, siblings and theri family.

I will always want my best friend to be my companion in different travel destinations I would like to go. We grew up with each other and I want to experience different culture while being silly with each other.

I would always love to travel with my significant other. She is my best friend, and we always have amazing conversations and never run out of things to talk about. I have been on several long trips with her over the years, and I adore her and really appreciate her intellect and her take on things. We have not been on a very long or international flight yet together, but if we had to do this, I am sure we would get along and handle it just fine.
