Winter, the season of cold, Christmas and, if you're lucky, snow and ice. Personally, this is my favorite season. Many people dislike it, too, probably because of the cold or snow if it's there. This season has many advantages, but there certainly are a lot of downsides to it, too.

  • Lying snuggled under a warm, cozy blanket in bed, shielding yourself from the bitter cold outside. Personally, I sleep with my window open year-round, which just adds to this cozy effect.
  • Blankets everywhere! Instead of wearing jackets and sweaters all the time, I often opt for a nice, warm blanket. Not only does it add to that Wintery feeling, but it's just really comfortable. Nothing's better than enjoying your favorite television show while you're lying under a warm blanket.
  • If you're lucky enough for the temperature to drop below 0° Celcius. When there's ice, you're guaranteed to have fun! Ice skating in the middle of a park or pastry never gets old! It's great fun for both children and adults alike.
  • Snow! If you're really lucky and live in the right country, you could get snow! This is mostly fun for children, due to the many activities the cold good provides, but this doesn't mean adults can't enjoy it, too! The white covering everything provides for a beautiful scenery, too.
  • Christmas! The holiday of beautifully decorated houses, trees, and whatnot! Gifts are everywhere and this is just an over-all fun holiday.

  • The snow can get really, really impractical. Like when you can't drive safely because the roads are too slippery.
  • Ice is a problem when driving, cycling, or even walking, too. You have to get special soles and tires, which aren't free.
  • Christmas is fun for everyone, it sure is, but it's not too fun for your wallet. The many gifts and, not to forget, the hassle of getting a Christmas tree each year, is quite costly.
  • The cold isn't fun for everyone. It can get quite impractical, especially when you have to wear a thick coat just to cross the street to visit your neighbors.
  • The darkness. In many countries, the sun goes down earlier when it's Winter. Many people enjoy this, but to others, this can be the reason they hate Winter. This is the cause of many depressions. Seasonal depression is most common in the Winter, which completely spoils the fun.

Winter is a relaxing time

I prefer winter because you can eat comfort food without any guilt, can take long baths without having to justify them, and it's a time to spend at home and relax with good books and films.

Winter is my favorite season of the whole year. Besides that I have my birthday in winter, I just love everything about it.

The snow, the cold... the winter activities such as skiing and snowboard, it's just perfect!

Summer is okay but the heat here makes it unbearable. You can't cool down properly and it's bad.

Winter is so nice, white and relaxing. I wish we would have winter all year around!

Cold... Cold... Cold

Although I like both seasons, I prefer winter. It may seem like a "werid" choice for most people (even for me, because I love beach), but I love winter because I love rain and cold. It's a season in which I always get more inspired and happier (more than I already am).

I like everything hot, except the weather.

I hate Summer, it's so hot and it makes me uncomfortable. I'm from a country that is really hot when it's summer, so our experience might be different. I'll take winter any day, my toleration for cold is high, and there a jackets or coats for warmth. When it's hot, it's hot even when you don't wear anything. Even if you open the air conditioning, it doesn't help much. So +1 to Winter time.

Bring on the cold, baby!

First off, snow. Few things are more beautiful than snowfall and I'll take a snowstorm over a rainstorm any day. Then there is the temperature. Feeling cold? Put on a sweatshirt. Still cold? Put on a jacket. However, it's not so easy in the summer, especially in public. Feeling hot? Take off your shirt. Still hot? Take off your pants. If the police haven't caught up to you by now and you're still feeling hot, what else can you take off when you're already butt naked? You're out of options.

All the best holidays are during the Winter as well, and there is no cozy summer equivalent of cuddling up next a fireplace with some hot cocoa. Maybe sitting in front of an air conditioner trying not to die of heatstroke.

Winter always

I love winter and it sure is my favorite season of the year. Unfortunately, in the city where I live the winter is not so cold and the summer is very hot. Today, for example, it is almost winter and the temperature is 21 ° C (69.8 ° F), and it certainly will not be much colder than that.

Summer is just too much heat and sun for me

As far as seasons go, I actually like spring and fall the most, because they're a good balance in between the cooler (and much more tolerable, for me) temperatures of winter and the sunnier, less road-hazardous summer. I'm very fair, so I tend to dislike summer and going outside a lot for that reason alone. I'm not interested in freckling up even further. I don't mind swimming, but that's the only "summer" activity I really enjoy.

If I had to choose one, though, I usually find winter a lot more tolerable than summer. When the snow gets especially thick then I'll get a bit annoyed or concerned (snow and ice make great road hazards) but it's generally a lot easier to regulate temperatures in winter than in summer.

Without a doubt this is my favorite season, I love feeling the cold wind on my head, having the necessity to be in home, drinking hot chocolate, it's the best. I also enjoy to walk outside on these days because everything feels better, and there's no sun (normally), I hate when I feel sweaty outside.
Posted by luispas on 07-01-2017

I'm more of a winter fan because I'm not a huge fan of hot, humid weather, especially the really hot weather it is absolutely dreadful in my opinion. I enjoy winter more because I love the cold, I love being able to bundle up under blankets and wearing my really comfy warm pants and sweatshirts. I also really like wearing the warm clothing, like the big sweaters and leggings and boots, its my favorite thing to wear. Plus after a fresh snowfall is such a beautiful thing; with the flat, sparkling snow laying on the ground. And you get to drink hot chocolate with marshmallows, so its even better!

Summer, oh Summer. It's the season of warmth, swimming, and much more Summer fun. Not to forget, there is a Summer holiday, too, so we can all enjoy this sunny season "to the max" ;)

  • The heat allows you to swim whenever you want to, wherever you want to. The beach is a preferred option, but outdoor swimming pools are also great to pass time!
  • Everyone who goes to school or went there can agree on the fact that Summer holidays are great! You're freed from school for over a month, which allows you to do tons of fun Summer activities!
  • Because it's warm, you don't have to put on a coat when you go outside. Simply leaving the door without having to protect yourself from the cold is great and feels amazing. No more coats to worry about!
  • Ice cream, ice cream, and more ice cream! There's never enough ice cream and popsicles to eat when it's Summer! It's never too cold for this cool refreshment and nearly everyone enjoys it.

  • The heat is quite a big disadvantage to many people, including myself. It gets really uncomfortable unless you're swimming, or doing another refreshing activity.
  • Summer holidays can be a major disadvantage to those who do not attend school. Everywhere they go, it's crowded with children and teens, while it was possibly a "private" place the day before vacation started.
  • Body shame. This isn't for everyone, but a lot of people get embarrassed by their bodies when they wear short clothing, which is a must in the heat. This can be quite bad for some people.
  • The sun is great, but it can get a little overwhelming from time to time. There never is a moment without having to wear shades.

I get so depressed during the winter when the daylight hours are so short. Sometimes when I wake up in the afternoon, it's already dark outside and I feel like the entire day is over whereas the daylight hours are much longer in the summer. I also enjoy wearing summer clothes whereas I hate having to wear a jacket and boots everywhere I go in the winter. I don't enjoy snow (especially after it melts/turns into slush) or ice or how much the wind can hurt my face in the winter and although it can get uncomfortably hot sometimes in the summer, it doesn't bother me too much compared to the cold. I really enjoyed iced desserts and iced drinks as well, which is perfect for the summertime.
Posted by lilac123 on 06-18-2017
When you're walking in the city, it can be hazardous. I quickly slip because of the snow. I don't have to worry about that in the summer. I am so glad that I don't. It is also more comfortable for me to wear sandals.

summertime rocks

No votes for the summertime!? Really!? Wow! Everyone knows the summertime is the best time of the year! Sure, the wintertime is nice sometimes, I can't deny that! There's nothing like experiencing your first white Christmas as a kid. There's something so magical and pure about that. Walking across snow that hasn't been walked on. Hearing and feeling the "crunch" under your feet. Getting to go ice skating and all of that! But let's face it, the cold suck! It's horrible and it attacks you! It's miserable to be out in and when it's like that you just want to be at home all snug as a bug in a rug with a hot chocolate mug lol. But the summertime, well, sure it can get too hot sometimes, but you can cool down, sit in front of a fan, drink hot drinks (cools you down better than cold drinks) or just drink lots of cold drinks with loads of ice! Have garden parties and BBQ's! Mmmm the smell of BBQ's it can't be beaten! It doesn't get dark until late, people are generally happier, there's more to do! Basically, summertime rocks and is better than the winter IMHO though! :D

Who doesn't love summer!

Well I just really hate being cold and when i'm cold I really don't want to do anything or even get Out of bed so my vote will have to go for summer just because I love being active and getting wet.

Summer for me

I generally like the summer better. It's warm. I can stand without shivering or stiffening because of the weather. I get to have delicious ice cream flavors and play outside. What's not to like about summer?
Posted by RedVelvetCupcake2009 on 06-20-2017

I can stand low temperatures even for a minute. I am a person who loves the sun and warm weather. Not every day is super hot so if a day like that happens you just have to wait, while in winter the temperatures usually stay low for a longer time.

Summer Time

I live in summer 365 days of the year and I love it! I love the great outdoors and the beach and the birds and the summer fruits and flowers. Every morning I rise, I look forward for the new day and the sunrise opens up my appetite for a new day's adventure. I have families who live in Canada where it gets really cold and sometimes snows alot. I have plans to visit but every time I remind them of why I'm delaying the trip, they eventually resort to visiting me instead.

Summer Still Wins For Me

Most of my life I have always loved summer! Of course, most of my life I lived in areas where winter wasn't really winter... I mean, winter in Guam is not at all like what you imagine winter to be and winter in San Diego can at times be as warm as a summer somewhere else. Living now in a place that does experience winter I've had a fun time getting to experience such things as snow, bundling up, and trying to stay cozy and they can be great in their own way. However, I suppose summer still remains my favorite. I love the feel of warm sunshine on my skin while I do fun outdoor activities like gardening or hiking. I love seeing the world around me full of life in hues of green and full of flowers. Of course, being a teacher and having summers off doesn't hurt either!

There is no winter in our place. I choose summer only. I have no experiences of winter.
Posted by menchuuy58 on 12-06-2018

I am very much an outdoors person so any season other then winter suits me just fine. I do not like the snow and cold temperature of the winter and I do not partake in any type of winter sport. It is just too miserable for me to enjoy. I, also, hate having to drive to and from work in bad weather.

I love to camp, go the the beach, swim, hike and just sit outside around a campfire. All those things can be enjoyed with the weather is good. We camp from mid May until the end of September almost every weekend when the weather permits. The only thing that stops us is the rain but we have been camping in the rain too. Sometimes it comes unexpectedly. I enjoy the summer because I like to spend time at the beach and swim in the fresh water. It is such a refreshing feeling.

I love everything about summer and I can honestly say that I never complain about the heat because for me the season just isn't long enough.
Posted by Sue on 06-15-2017
We also go camping during summer and the family enjoys the overnight stay in the campsite because it is thrilling to sleep in tents. That is our usual summer activity. During the colder season, we have no snow here but the rains are the spoilers. However I have experienced snow in Beijing when we went to the Great Wall for a tour. I’d say snow is nice for a first timer but the cold was killing me.

I prefer summer to winter. Waking up to a sunny weather and hearing the chirping of birds is just wonderful. In summer I also don't have to wear layers of clothing which can be quite uncomfortable at times. Also I usually go to the beach during summer. It so relaxing to be on the beach and listen to the sounds of the waves. I also enjoy walking on the beach. Watching the sunset in summer is a different experience. The sunset seems to be more beautiful in summer.

Both are nice for their own reasons, although I like winter because I can stay in the house and just enjoy being in the comfy, warm room and watching the snow fall outside. It has that special effect on your mind. I guess it goes to the festives a lot, but I always enjoyed watching snow as it falls.

Extreme weather is always bad, too cold during winter and too hot during summer is always bad. I cannot choose between winter and summer because extreme weather is always frustrating. If it is not too cold in winter or too hot in summer, winter and summer both are pleasurable. By the way I love winter during summer and I love summer during winter.

I am not the most outdoorsy person, but I would say 'summer' in a heartbeat. I love the ice cream, the cool breeze, the sunshine, and not having to wear warm clothes. In the winter, it snows all the time, it is always gloomy, and it's too dangerous to walk outside because you can slip. I don't like it when it's too hot either, but I stiffen up in the cold, and that's pretty annoying when you walk to class.
Posted by RedVelvetCupcake2009 on 06-20-2017
I couldn't vote for either of these. I live in a climate where the seasons are extreme. The winter gets very cold and the summer is very warm and muggy. So, I actually prefer fall where the temperature is still warm, yet not too hot and the bitter cold of winter has not arrived. I also love the brilliant colors of the fall foliage. Sorry winter and summer, I prefer the autumn.
Posted by Lizzyib on 06-25-2017
I prefer the season that transitions from winter to summer. That season shows the best of nature. I can tell you that some of the birds, animals and even humans go through the health change. And this shows up during the change of the season. That is another reason why I think summer is also best. Though I prefer in the middle of the both seasons. It can be fun to enjoy those seasons for sure.

Summer it is for me. I love the sight of a bright sun, like the sun is happy or something. And it is always fun hanging out with friend on a sunny day. I do get cold on ordinary day, I guess am cold blooded or something. Winter can be so cold sometimes that it hurt but I prefer the best.

We have never had and will never have winter in our country and the other neighboring countries. We only have two seasons here: Rainy and Sunny (sometimes extremely hot lol). How I wish we could also experience even just for once, what it feels like to have a snow raining from the sky. ;)
Posted by galegatling on 07-18-2017
Actually, I have never seen Snow but I would love to. In my Country when it's winter it only rains with exceptions in some cities, that is why I love summer. The perfect place to go in summer is the beach, for me, that is paradise.
Posted by pizzalover on 08-19-2017
I used to love Summer when I was a child in the North, but now I can't stand it. It is much too hot and humid where I currently live, and there are also a lot of bugs around. You can always put on more clothing in the Winter if you are cold, but in summer, there is not too much you can do, but grin and bear it. There are only so many clothes you can take off! Even if you crank your AC up, you still have to pay a very high bill.
Posted by kgord on 08-22-2017
We don't have winter season in our country what he have is rainy and summer season. Then I love summer period because I love to exposed my skin to direct sunlight most especially on beach island resorts. The place where I lived have a lot of majestic sea body water where I can do some snorkeling or scuba diving. My best friend and I have a plan to visit one of the unknown island here in our region. Yet the place is very impressive and it is a perfect time to go there before this month will end as it seems like as summer days.

I've never experience winter in my whole life but I do want to experience winter even for once. I always wanted to experience a cool weather to always makes me chill and I hate having a sweat in my body. I still do want to experience summer since summer will give us a way to be on the beach and to relax and do some fun activities on the water. I'm from the Philippines and summer is the season to enjoy beaches and to relax.
Posted by ColdFlameChris on 11-26-2017
I love summer I can't stand all that cold in winter. Almost cried the first time I experience winter in the US.I didn't enjoy the stay at all and I swore since then not to try such a trip again. I only visit location or destination during their Summer time.

I experienced my first winter some years back when we were in Beijing by the end of January. It was still winter and I saw my first snow right in the Great Wall. With my excitement, I made a small snowman that really didn’t like a snowman at all. It was a great experience for me. But to think that we will live in a place where there is winter every year, I don’t think I will relish that idea. I prefer our tropical country where the season is wet and dry. And although the temperature dips to 20 degrees C in January, it’s fine because that weather is tolerable for me.

I prefer summer. I have not experienced winter yet. We only have rainy and hot weather.
